Meza in City of London, Westminster

Hugely overcooked and stone cold. They should pay you to stomach this wretched product. A huge disappointment after a surprisingly massive wait for delivery (1.5 hrs)

I’ve literally just left the restaurant and I must say I’m so disappointed. The service was really bad and I ordered the fish of the day and it was dry and cold. It was my first time and I won’t be going back again.

Restaurant was recommended in the recent issue of time out so we went to check it out. Service was good and prompt but let down by the food itself. We ordered a variety of traditional Lebanese starters. Fatoush salad had too much dressing and missing that sumac sprinkle to give it a kick. The kibbeh has been friend in to hot oil making them dark on the outside but the filling inside was cold, not even warm. The falafel was lacking in seasoning and served with a little tahini sauce drizzle and nothing more to dip in. We asked for the traditional hot sauce but got something that seemed from a jar nothing fresh and zingy. We had to return the chicken wings as they were inedible. We were not the only ones to return food that evening, the Table next to us returned their prawns.The foul medammes was the highlight of the evening and tasted great. Also worth a mention was the Houmus with lamb. Unfortunately the pita bread accomplishment was not fresh and had been heated up in the microwave. My partner was sick on our return home as the taste of the chicken wings remained in her mouth. A sign on the door says that they don’t accept cards so people had to leave to take out cash. Don’t thing we will be going again rather make the trip into central London instead.

Great selection of small hot and cold starter dishes. Decided against a main dish due to a poor selection of vegetarian dishes so selected 5 starter dishes. Was not disappointed. Very nice. Will definitely return.

Starters are very good but mains are very poor, very bland no taste at all. Very expensive for the quality of food. Chicken kafta was not at all good. Garlic sauce did not have enough garlic. The service was good.

Situated on Mitcham Road - make sure you try it if you like Lebanese cooking. We had a table booked and were served swiftly by a friendly and welcoming waitress. There is a great choice of dishes both hot and cold starters and hot main courses. We mixed up a variety and had a feast. All very tasty with generous portions. Price was very reasonable. Will go back as there are lots more dishes to sample

The food here is nice there’s options for vegetarian and meat eaters, the feta salad is very nice and I enjoyed the falafel with the hummus. The only annoying thing is that they only take cash , it’s difficult if you don’t know what or how much you’re ordering to know what cash to take out beforehand and we only realised once we had got to the restaurant. Poco distante dalla stazione di Tooting Broadway della Northern Line, questo piccolo locale serve cucina libanese con diversi piatti senza eccedere. Ambiente informale e un po’ soffocato. La moutabal che ho preso e che non avevo mai provato prima era decisamente buona. In pratica è una specie di hummus ma di melanzane. Normale e molto asciutto il pollo marinato e cotto alla griglia. Niente di che. Prezzi medi. Dolcetto di mandorle in omaggio molto gradito.

Have you ever had one of those dreams...? The one where you see yourself surrounded by an array of food, a table laden with exotic and colourful dishes, salivation an instant reaction. Well...? Welcome to Meza. A small but mighty restaurant specialising in Lebanese cuisine. My first impressions were not one of overwhelmment but very low-key vibes. However, I was taken aback when the food was presented. A feast, oh yes, one cannot be mistaken. Every sense of the word was justified! The aromas filled my nostrils with the most alluring smells captured in an instant and the vibrant colours took me to a place of wonderment. Since I was in a large group, naturally we decided to go for their set menu. To start off the experience we were presented with a selection of their hot and cold mezas. One being vine leaves stuffed with spiced rice or better known in the Arab world as Wara' Einab - sharpness from the pomegranate molasses glazing the tops of these little parcels, sweetness from the stuffing itself and 'earthiness' emanating from the wilted leaves; an all round package of perfection. Moving onto a favourite of mine and a staple in Middle Eastern cuisine is Hummus - chickpea heaven; smooth and punchy flavours from the garlic and lemon, flavours that marry so well together. We also had Baba Ghanoush, a smoked aubergine and tahini concoction that was served with flat bread. Tabbouleh, a traditional salad of parsley and crushed wheat was one of my top favourites out of the bunch, so simple and fresh, but yet highly placed on the 'flavour charts'. Swiftly moving along onto the hot mezas we had Batata Harra - delicately spiced cubes of moorishness. Each potato cube was coated with the delicious sauce. Not too spicy to warrant a hazard sign, just hot enough to tantalise your taste buds. Soujouk, lamb sausages, were sweet, spicy and moist cooked with tomatoes, chilli and garlic; simple but pronounced flavours. There was also a subtle hint of smokiness; sausages were licked lovingly by the fire. Kibbeh, lamb meatballs, sported a crunchy coating made of wheat. The tender mince meat was very aromatic and 'slightly nuts' with the addition of pine nuts. Lastly, one cannot forget about Falafel, the epitome of Middle Eastern cuisine, fried crushed bean balls, these golden mounds of deliciousness were the best I've ever tasted! For our main course we had a mixed grill consisting of: chicken and lamb cubes, mince meat skewers as well as chicken mince skewers. It was flavourful enough to enjoy but definitely did not trump the starters. I also ordered a Mango shake to accompany the meal, no doubt it was scrumptious, just a shame it wasn't cold! All in all the staff were very hospitable and delivered a great service. Good vibes resonated throughout and the cool & calm ambience uplifted the whole experience. No doubt it has left it's mark on my stomach. 😉

I had lunch for the first time today in this restaurant and I left feeling very impressed. The food was delicious, very high quality, freshly cooked and very good value for money. The service was really good, the staffs are nice and friendly, the place is very clean and they have air conditioner. Will highly recommend this place to friends and family.

Huge fan of Lebanese food and having lived in London all my life I know many places in this city. This has to be one of the - if not THE - best. Small restaurant and busy so booking advised. Also CASH only. Well worth a visit – food is cooked fresh, of great quality and delicious. Highly recommended.

The food at Meza is delicious, but our recent visit was ruined by loud music. There was only one other large table of people, making a lot of noise, but the music was suddenly turned up and made our conversation very strained! Two requests to lower the volume were met with assurances and smiles, and it was turned down, only to be turned up again a few minutes later. Both times. This is such a pointless move - you've just been told some of your customers are uncomfortable, so you pretend to improve things then go back on it - Like we won't notice..? By this time the restaurant was full, and the noise unbearable. It might be to some people's taste, but you missed the chance to make it to everyone's taste and making us feel welcome. You've lost us as customers and gained this review.

We ordered a takeaway from this restaurant and they called us 45 minutes later to say they didn’t want to accept the order as they were too busy. I can fully appreciate that the restaurant was busy but if the kitchen does not have the capacity to offer this service it should not be offered. To wait an hour to inform us is very poor service.

So much food, so tasty! everything was on point. Chuffed with the place, though i might have overspent a little.

Had a great family meal at the Meza Prices were £25 / head which I did not think too bad but we ordered too much food. I had the mixed grill with some rice but I did not really need the rice, it came with an excellent salad. The restaurant is cosy and the staff were very good. Note they do not take credit or debit cards so you need to take cash with you.

fine Lebanese fare in tooting: started with moutabal - eggplant / hummus dish with lovely, fresh pita; mixed grill = chicken and lamb kabobs and grille lamb and chicken pieces: all tender and delicious! staff is efficient, but slow on 'the uptake' when I found hair on one of the platters!!??!!

No puedo conseguir suficiente de meza. Es un lugar pequeño y recto que sirve comida sencilla pero deliciosa. Siempre reservar con antelación, pero normalmente se puede conseguir una mesa un par de días antes. Servicio rápido y las bebidas son bastante buena. Nunca he a sabiendas bebimos vino libanés antes, pero es muy fácil de beber y va con la comida.

We had a meal for 4 with a drink, including service for £75. We stuck completely to Meze and went for three each.....probably a bit too much food! Two with two to share between four would have been plenty. The food was good and the service efficient. Particularly recommend the Batata Harra and the Hummus Beiruty was good too as was the Lebanese Beer. Would go again

Have lost count of the number of times we have been here. Always a good experience. Staff are really nice. Food is delicious, very good value, served quickly. Some of the reviews seem to be somewhat critical - not our experience at all. We love it and it's often first choice if we're going out somewhere local.

The food was pretty good, but I went to the toilet before it arrived and rather wish I hadn't. According to the chart on the wall it hadn't been cleaned for five days and judging by the state of it I'd say that was about right. I certainly hope the standards of hygiene in the kitchen are better.

Being local we had been meaning to try Meza ever since they opened, now that we have we won't be going back. Food wasn't unpleasant (although some was a little cold) but entirely unremarkable and there's other places in Tooting that do similar food much better.

This place always seems to be busy, and no doubt why: delicious food, fairly priced, and quick-friendly service. A local highlight for Tooting!

The delivery time was great and well appreciated. However, the portions were nothing special. The meal in itself was not warm enough at all and did not taste great. They did add a free dessert which was a nice gesture but not my cup of tea. Not sure I’d be ordering next time.

We had an excellent quick lunch in this small and basic restaurant and everyone was happy with the range and quality of the food - the only reservation was the flatbread, which was tough and soggy (microwaved?). Five of us got through seven meze dishes and, with a glass of OK house red paid, with service, about £13 a head - excellent value. No cards taken, so bring cash.

I live down the road but was unable to go out for a collection. I made a small order for a few small plates and was already surprised at the hour wait. I then phoned up after my food was 10 minutes late to be told that it was definitely on its way to me already. 10 minutes later I phoned again to be told by someone different that my food was definitely on its way and it had left three or four minutes ago. The food finally arrived after an hour and a half and was luke warm. Very unimpressed with the service - if the restaurant made a mistake and had missed my order they should have told me rather than pretending it was en route when clearly it had not been.

My partner and I went to the Meza Tooting Broadway last night (Saturday 30 September). It was busy and the staff were clearly stretched and stressed. We were hassled into finishing our starter before we had eaten it, which was annoyingly bad customer care but not the main cause of criticism. The starters were just ok, but in the main course the skewered lamb was cold, tough and tasteless: it did not taste freshly-cooked, more re-heated, badly. My partner could not eat more than a couple of mouthfuls. When I complained to the man who seemed to be the Head Waiter/possibly proprietor, he looked embarrassed but just shrugged: no serious apology, and no gesture of appeasement. We won't be going there again, and would recommend that others walk past it to the many other eateries now in Tooting Broadway.

What a great place. The hummus and the broad beans stood out amongst the starters we had.

El cordero Kabab sirvieron en un vistazo podía contar las piezas de cordero. 6 piezas duras (posiblemente recalentados en el microondas, ya que fue muy duro y unos trozos de verduras a granel hasta el plato. Son estos chicos En serio? El Humous, berenjena y era todo muy soso halloumi. ¿Cómo podrían conseguir esta muy equivocado? Y cómo se hace este negocio reciba tantas críticas positivas? De verdad chicos? Estás en serio cuando te sirven la comida y la pretensión de ser un restaurante? Nunca me dejes engañar de nuevo.

Food literally never arrived. After almost two hours they simply started to hang up on me. They insisted the food arrived when clearly (from my starving perspective) it didn't.

Comida discreto, amable y sabroso. No os decepcionará la comida aquí, una gran selección, no resultará enrevesado. Gran Hummus y mezclado grill. Un bonito detalle con Baklava al final. Recomiendo el vino libanés.

Very disappointed after my last order with Meza! I had to call the restaurant more than 30 minutes after the schedule delivery time only to find that the order hadn't even left their premises yet. I was reassured it was ready, and just about to leave, and had to wait only five minutes. But we waited more than that. With a hungry, screaming child it was even more frustrating to wait over 1.5 hours for our meal. Then to add insult to injury, the chips weren't warm as they usually are, and the fried pieces in the salad were completely soggy! The meal wasn't enjoyable and I wish I hadn't ordered. I expect a full refund.

Meza is such a delight! Food is cooked perfectly. The place is very clean and staff are nice. They do lunch boxes that's very affordable. I love coming to this restaurant.

Very helpful and pleasant staff, even though it was late on a Sunday night and they probably all wanted to go home! They welcomed us warmly, the food was really delicious and there was a fabulous selection of interesting and well presented dishes. I would highly recommend Meza.

Tasty food in a relaxed atmosphere, great food to share, friendly staff, prompt service, reasonably priced

Due to allergies we requested no peppers in the meal but the dishes had peppers. Food was almost cold on arrival. Lamb was a bit dry and not that tasty. Some mezze dishes were nice though.

I had a dinner last week with my bf around 9pm, waitres was looking a bit lost, took a bit long to ask for attention. We ordered two starters to share, was good, can't complain. After that as main I ordered lamb with yogurt which was really nice, but my bf chicken was very dry. At the end we get the bill and get to conclusions that for the same price we had bigger and tastier dinner in central London.

Well overpriced food for the portion(s) you're given. Taste was standard. Delivery was on time.

Food is truly excellent - sort of like Lebanese tapas - you order lots of little starters to share. The tables are very crammed together, which ruins the ambiance somewhat on a busy night...but the food is really superb.

Delicious, generous servings, even arrived a little earlier than quoted with an extra treat! Happy customers :)

Having moved away from the tooting area we travelled back to visit Meza again. I was a little underwhelmed. The staff were very accomodating finding us a table on the door and throughout the meal. To start we had the spinach parcels, the filling was flavourful and tasty, however the pastry was just a little bit greasy. The halloumi and pitta hot meze was nice as was the yougurt and cucumber dip. My partner had the sea bass which was good. I had the mix grill. Some of the lamb was a little tough and chewy and some of the chicken was missing something. Overall a nice meal but underwhelmed compared to meals we have had there in the past

Order 1h late. Called after 20min lateness, said food was coming very soon "darling". Food eventually arrived, cold (ordered few hot dishes) sauce all over the bag. Falafels soggy. Sad bit is I have eaten many times before and ordered from here and has been ok. But lately the service and food has been awful. I ended with cold mess instead of delicious food I was expecting.

For the amount of money I spent the food was terrible. It arrived to me luke warm, the mixed grill was so expensive however when it arrived it only have 4 things. £13 for 4 small items of food ridiculous I am terribly disappointed by this place. It has such great reviews. The food itself was not that good either. I will never ever order from here again.

We've ordered from Meza a number of times and it's always been good before but we're really disappointed with today's order. One dish, which we paid for, was missing from the order. It arrived late and the food was cold which meant tough meat and soggy meze. The containers were all squashed and the hummus had leaked into other dishes.

I came here with my wife on a Saturday night around 8pm and was very pleased to secure their last available table. We were seated straight away and I ordered their Lebanese Pilsner which I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with. The house red was pretty good too.We ordered the Mixed Grill, Shish Taouck and Houmous. It was all delicious! The service was efficient and staff were friendly. Very reasonably priced and healthy too. It is quite a small restaurant but that adds to the cosyness. Check it out, you can't really go wrong. Very close to Tooting Broadway and so easy to get to.

The food was lovely. Really quick to arrive. I especially enjoyed the broad bean dish which surprised me! Lovely staff. Really helpful with my food allergies. Fantastic ambience on a Saturday night.

Picked up some food to collect last night and despite only getting a hummus awarma it was a lovely surprise to get home and find some baklava thrown in as well. Delicious. Quick service too.

My dishes (Moujadara and grilled kallaj) were fine, but I think they needed some kind of sauce. I tried my husband's bemieh bil zeit and it was delicious! Will definitely order that for myself next time. The samples of Lebanese pastries were amazing. Delivery came 15 minutes ahead of stated time, but could have been kept a bit hotter.

Have ordered numerous times but the food was not as good as it usually is. Kallaj was quite sloppy and humous was very salty. I will order again though and it has previously been consistently excellent.

A great restaurant, really good value for Lebanese food. Fantastic mid week lunch menu. The service is always really friendly and attentive. Have been here many times and the food has always been great quality and delicious.

Lovely food, especially the chicken wings. Delivery arrived at the time arranged. Will order again. My only criticism is that the sambousek Jebneh was a little too salty.

The food was lovely but ordered at 6pm and it came at 7.30pm stone cold. Called Meza who said they would replace the order in 20mins. At this point 2 hours wait in total.

Food was good quality but was totally cold when arrived and microwaved calamari is not good!

delivery was 40 minutes late and food lukewarm. there was not correlation between when Justeat claimed food was being delivered, ordered time and its arrival. Very disappointing from what is usually an excellent restaurant. Deliver is also terrible at delivery so now we do not know if to just give up on both Meza and Justeat Thank you

Meza was great, but the Just Eat order was not what I'd asked for and arrived an hour before I was told to expect it. Meza sorted it and it worked out in the end. great meal.

We visited meza before 7pm on a Saturday so it was not busy thou there were a few dinners.We ordered the plain hummus with paprika etc which we found bland and flat ,the pittas arrived damp and soggy microwave ??God no !!not a great start if you can not even get this right you are in trouble .or should I say our taste buds were in for trouble .I ordered a beer a Lebanese beer smooth and light but warm another faux paux .theese are basics human rights cold beer fresh bread .We shared a main the mixed grill which to be fair the meat was well cooked and tastefully spiced and enough of it but cold .We also shared some chips which turned out to be fries with the mixed grill judging on there uniform size and zero taste I'm guessing from the nearby aldi .We ate it all up as we were hank Marvin paid the bill or my wife paid the bill through gritted teeth and left having experienced a culinary mess a place lacking in atmosphere no interaction with the staff we could have been in the kfc across the road not a Lebanese .ps is anyone going to get rid of thoose two camped out on the bench across the road .

My second visit here and I took along a friend as we happened to be in the area. We came at 5pm so we weren't surprised that it was dead. We ordered the mixed grill, chips, humouus and the minced lamb parcels. The humours had paprika and lemon and there were a few chickpeas in and we enjoyed the favours with the pitta bread offered. The lamb parcels looked freshly made and I could have done with a couple more. The mixed grill - lamb and chicken had big chucks of meat (a lot bigger than the restaurant that I tried out in Islington!) - the lamb was still moist whilst the chicken was charcoalled but not burnt. Wasn't sure about the koftas which were ok. I loved the mint tea in the dinky glasses and the piece of bakva at the end of the meal. Service was swift - we had all the components of our meal within 10 minutes. For £30 all in, it's quite a bargain and I would definitely return.

Real shame the shish taouk didn't come with a side, I was shocked it came with just the chicken considering it cost £10. Was good quality and delivered on time.

I had heard great things about this place and as a fan of Mezze had to try it! Unfortunately it just didnt live up to my expectation. The food was ok, potatoes a bit oily, hummus no better than a packet and the halloumi was tiny portion compared to what you can get elsewhere. The service was sow and I wouldn't go back, there are better places in Tooting for this type of food such as Chez Vous.

Meza, it was once the best place to eat in Tooting Broadway. Sadly, it hasn't been as good lately.I wasn't sure if I should write this seeing that I was always one of their biggest champions, but after three disappointing visits of late, I feel that this feedback is justified.This week we went for the grilled mix, batatas harra, rice, hummus Beiruty, chicken wings, and tabbouleh.The grilled mix consists of grilled lamb, chicken cubes, and sticks made of minced lamb and chicken. This used to be delicious, but lately the chicken cubes have had the texture of polystyrene and are lacking much in flavour. The chicken mince sticks tasted slightly of fish whilst the grilled lamb was tough and nearly blackened.The batatas harra which are potato cubes in garlic and coriander are no longer what they used to be: firm potato bites. Instead they are now cooked and heated up in the microwave which turns them a little slimy. Can't fault the taste as they are as flavoursome as they once were, just the texture is wrong. Taking about microwave: they used to offer nice grilled flatbreads and pittas, but now they microwave these too. This is not a good move as it turns the bread into a soggy, wet and unappetising mess.The hummus beiruty wasn't all that either. It tasted rather bland compared to the version they used to offer not that long ago. The tabbouleh was too acidic for my liking, but the chicken wings were divine as always.The service is as always fantastic, very friendly staff who go out of the way for you. I just hope it will go back to what it once was like.I've been boasting to my friends and family about this place and would love to take them there, but not if the quality doesn't pick up again. Please don't compromise on quality over quantity. It will lose your customers in the end. Definitely don't microwave food that should never see a microwave in their lives. Also, please sort out your payment options as asking people to pay cash as you still don't accept card payments after years of doing business, is quite weird.

The food was delicious but unacceptably cold. I will order again, however I have noticed that in house dining offered salad with the shish taouk dish, whereas the delivery had no side salad.

Had dinner there for the first time on Friday evening and absolutely loved it! Tasty and affordable dishes, great varied menu, super quick service and lovely smiley staff :) I'll definitely be coming back!

Good food would recommend to people

I have been to the meza in tooting several times and cannot praise it enough. But I Went here on Saturday night. The service was very poor we felt rushed and the staff were not friendly at all. It's such a shame as the other meza is really lovely. We were very crammed in and on top of the door so we were freezing all night. We asked to move our table over but got told we had enough space already even tho every time someone came in the door they were touching us. We had a lot of left overs and had teenagers with us so asked for a take out which were literally thrown into the box in front of us The waitress on several occasions just leant across my food whilst I had food going into my mouth. Overall would not go there again. The staff were just not friendly

We have often been to the Meza in tooting and it has always been brilliant. We expected this one to be as good but sadly it was anything but good. The staff were totally unfriendly ( not one smile ) and they really rushed us through our meal. We were seated by the door so not only were we pushed and shoved every time that the door was opened but frozen as well. We did move our table a little bit to make some room but the waitress quickly made us move it back !!! Saying that the people in the next table wouldn't have room which was just not true. We will go back to the tooting Meza which is always an enjoyable experience.

The food was delicious. We ordered 4 small dishes which came to £18 but was easily enough for two of us for lunch. They came within 10 minutes and were all excellent! Even the pitta bread was great. The bill came with a couple of small pieces of baklava, too. It's definitely shot to the top of my list for my local food places, despite not taking card payment.

Food was a bit cold but tastes good. However it was very very late and the restaurant was rude when I phoned to chase.

This was 20 minutes late and cold when it arrived. Bad food and late delivery is becoming a theme with deliveries from restaurants on Just-Eat. I am not expecting michelin star cuisine but on time and warm once in a while might be nice. Despite reviews like this all I ever get from Just-Eat is a "Sorry". Unless I get refunded in full for this order I am never using Just-Eat again.

I had a discount code but I wasn't able to use it because it said it was invalid. When I rang Meza they weren't able to help either because the manager wasn't there.

Food arrived 40 minutes after expected deliver time. Called the restaurant to ask where food was and she just said well he's left here. Great help, not very impressed at all. Food arrived not very hot, meat wasn't great at all over all very very disappointed. I would actually like a refund or credit for the same amount for just eat. I'm not using this restaurant again. A chilled night in ruined.

Well for those who want to eat delicious lebanese food on a budget..tantalising your taste buds without cracking anything more than a new fiver and few golden nuggets ....ladies and gentleman this is the place for you.I had the ochra in tomatoes...divine I had rice with lentils and tahini all served with chips or pilau rice and flat bread. £6 you would be hard pressed to want anything else as it is filling. Bargain and I just cannot express how delicious Staff are lovely ...smiley and polite
