The best restaurants serving Japanese food in City and Hunslet Leeds Yorkshire and The Humber

Absolutely brilliant from start to finish. Waitress, Margarett, was really helpful when we arrived, explained the menu really well and recommended the bento boxes which meant we got to try loads of different dishes. Food was amazing, so delicious and really good value. I had mentioned in the booking that it was my girlfriend's birthday and they surprised us with a huge slice of cake for dessert, which was a lovely surprise. Would 100% recommend and can't wait to go again and try some of the other dishes.

Delicious and authentic fish, soup was incredible with a burst of flavours, the friendliness and chattiness of the owner made the atmosphere even more enjoyable. Cannot recommend enough and will be visiting again soon.

What a once in a lifetime event! I had always dreamed of coming here and finally the opportunity arose. I came here as part of a big group of 10 and we were given 2 iPads to order our dishes. The choice was vast and a little overwhelming so I closed my eyes and clicked a few buttons. The dishes arrived quickly and they were all delicious! There wasn't a single thing I didn't enjoy. I did feel I was disgracing myself with the chopsticks though and the first thing I ate was fish eggs sushi and it exploded and I ended up with fish eggs all over me. And I forgot you weren't meant to eat the whole thing with edamame so I was struggling with that for a few minutes then realised everyone else was only eating the little soy beans or whatever they are and discarding of the pods. I really enjoyed the pudding too. All in all a great experience. Can't say it was very social as you are looking at the iPad choosing what to order half the time, and the rest of the time you are devouring the food. A once in a lifetime event.

They forgot to add the vegan mayonnaise. Bao buns were dry.

Sad to see Issho has closed. This place was a gem in Leeds, blending modern with traditional Japanese cuisine. Each visit was a culinary adventure, from sushi to unique dishes. Although sometimes service could be hit or miss, the overall experience was memorable. It'll be missed for its innovation and atmosphere.

Reached out to resolve but they stopped responding to my emails. Poor customer service

I usually like Itsu, but it tasted like supermarket sushi left out for hours this evening! I didn't enjoy my miso soup, either. It was way saltier than usual, and the salmon nigiri and festival set tasted weird. The quality seems to have gone down, or maybe I just got a bad batch. I don't know! But I am disappointed I wasted my money tonight

Karaoke was great fun and a really good (free) event for students and societies

Food was good, but I think I will try different options next time. Prices and presentation are amazing though (£25 for a starter, main, desert and beer!!!) I was seen to straight away and the food came out very quick. Portion sizes were big so good thing I didn't eat owt beforehand ha! All the staff were super friendly, welcoming, professional and just lovely all round. Credit to the restaurant! It's a nice little place, lovely atmosphere and decor, chilled out :)

I recently visited Wagamama, and honestly, it wasn’t the best experience. The food was cold when it arrived, which was a letdown. Our bao buns seemed to have taken a little detour around the restaurant and ended up being handed to the table next to us, even though they had just sat down. It was fine in the end, but not exactly what we were hoping for. If you’re looking for a quick, casual bite, it’s okay, but don’t expect anything too special.

Whilst on business , I had a large salad bowl from the outlet on the side near to the Starbucks and a chicken schnitzel in a roll from their outlet on the other side of the road. All very fresh and lovely food - Try it
