Ate here last night with two friends. Had the chicken yaki soba and it was a huge portion, really tasty and lots of veg (which i love in a yaki soba!) The staff were really friendly, it's a great independent restaurant, decorated well and really great prices for how much you get. My friends got the teriyaki bento box and i had huge food envy! You get so much for your money.

I felt extremely disappointed, and as a result, I have decided not to give it another try. However, I must clarify that while only enjoyed the Tempura, I found the udon, curry chicken and pulled pork to be rather unpleasant. The ok sauce accompanying it was excessively salty for my taste. horrible

I used to come here a lot. It used be really good and one of few Japanese places with sushi. However, the quality of food massively downgraded. Ordered rainbow sushi roll and the fish was so smelly that it was hard to eat it. The ebi tempura is not a fresh prawn but rather a prawn. We also had unagi don - charcoal eal. The eal was overcooked and soaked in too much soy sauce. Really, the japanese food is better in Wasabi rather this place. Save some money and go somewhere nicer.

Having visited Little Tokyo many times when it first opened in Leeds, we were excited to go back. We were waiting at the door for around 5 minutes before we were even acknowledged. It was off putting to see the sushi chef shouting at another colleague and the staff looked stressed and rushed. Considering it was probably over 10 years since our last visit, the decor hadn't changed at all and was looking shabby, and when we eventually sat down the menu looked the same too. The service was incredibly slow, the food arrived before the drinks too. My husband had a teriyaki salmon bento box, the fish was underdone. My prawn bento was ok, but lacked the flavour that we remembered from last time, and the tempura was greasy. We wanted a dessert but after waiting for over 15 minutes to order, we decided to leave. Sadly, we won't be back, shame because we used to love eating there.

I visited this restaurant with high expectations, but unfortunately, it fell short. The food quality didn't meet my standards, and I found it lacking. However, what truly disappointed me was the service aspect. As someone uncomfortable with chopsticks, I requested forks to enjoy my meal. Despite asking three times, it took a considerable effort to finally receive the cutlery. While I respect the tradition of using chopsticks, it's essential for all customers to be served equally.

Great Japanese restaurant with an extensive vegan menu. The atmospherics were fantastic with our table being located over a koi pond. The tofu vegetable yaki buck soba was like crack, better than Wagamama’s. I think it was teriyaki sauce that did the trick, I want to know the recipe! Also the courgettes were barbecued so had amazing flavour. Incredible atmosphere inside, so unique with the water feature. Lychee martini, again, like crack. Unfortunately the vegan sushi didn’t arrive but looking forward to trying it next time.

I would say it’s Absolutely The Worst Japanese restaurant in the UK. Never seen a Broccoli in a 弁当 The curry is absolutely not a Japanese style. Rice is cold and not Japonica rice. Absolutely rubbish and expensive dishes ever tried.

Comment aside, service was top notch however, this is a decent restaurant for overpriced and highly-fusioned Japanese food. Suitable for those who have no pursuit of Japanese excellency and respect for the industry. The special ramen that contains chicken/pork sausage provides true cultural shock. This was honestly the worst Japanese food I’ve ever had. Absolutely appalling! The fish was far from fresh & the tempura was overcooked & done so in old oil which made it taste even worse. We had to send most of our dishes back for a refund & my friend fell ill afterwards which completely ruined the evening. I do have to say though that our waitress was great. Very professional, courteous & attentive. Lastly, the restaurant is in desperate need of a good clean & a change of chef & possibly management too. Sadly we will not be back.

If you like Tempura fried items such as prawns don’t bother here as they use the same batter as you’d find in a chip shop and greasy as hell. I tried the Japanese curry for a change and talk about glutinous? My spoon dropped into it and bounced off and once again the sort of curry that you’d gather at a chippy. Are here a few days ago with my wife and kids. Decent location. Decor interesting with the koi fish and torii, although could do with a spring clean and lick of paint. Staff were fine. Set lunch menu was reasonable in terms of price but the soft drinks we ordered were small and over-priced. An absolute rip off (over £3 for a small glass circa 330ml). Food was ok. Not the best Japanese we have had (we have been to Japan so admittedly have high expectations but the wife does a better Katsu curry) and the chicken was a bit on the tough side. Wouldn’t not eat here again but I do think improvements need to be made as its average at best.

The food was poor. Tough ribs came out ahead of cold bao buns for starters, the katsu bento came at the same time as the other starter and had no katsu curry sauce - there was a sauce but I don't know what it was and it wasn't flavoursome. Worst of all was the Nigiri which was not fresh. It was topped off with Japanese style desserts which apparently means it comes with seaweed on it and it did not go well.

The atmosphere and decor of this restaurant is in my opinion what makes it stand out to me, the beautiful use of plants, woodwork and water features really bring this place to life. The food was good, offering a wide range of options for meat eaters and veggie/vegans alike. I attended for the occasion of my friends birthday dinner and it was a real crowd pleaser as well as having a slightly more upscale feel without the prices being extortionate. I keep getting recommendations from local Leeds residents to try a Japanese restaurant that they like, after I stated it’s my fav cuisine So when I come up to visit the office for work, I like to try new places and give them a go After a number of disappoints, I started to realise that my expectations are far from theirs Therefore, when I was recommended this place today and I saw the name, I was immediately judgy However, it was only a 10min walk from where I stay, so I figured let’s just go and order a bog standard bento box When I arrived, I found the decor to be pretty cool actually although I did snigger to myself when I saw what the waitresses were wearing Anyhoo - was seated very quickly and in a fairly decent spot I liked the look of the menu and it choice and was particularly impressed that they had Kirin on tap Whenever I try a new restaurant, I tend to order the staples so that I can compare If you can’t get the staples right, then my mind is immediately made up on the place So, I figured I would try their Chicken Chilli Ramen Firstly - I was amazed at how quickly it was served Secondly - the colour of the broth caught my attention and the flavour was spot on I didn’t think it was that spicy, but the more I consumed the more it absorbed the chilli and my lips began to tingle Generous portions of chicken, but the variety of veg, mushrooms, bean curd and pickles summed it up perfectly On a cold evening that it was, you couldn’t beat it Oh, the staff were super friendly and efficient and would I return? I do believe they have found themselves a regular - see you guys again next month

We came as a party of 8, got served a table quite quickly. Liked that the restaurant has a nice decor. Food is not great. For example the rice within the bento box was regular long grain rice, it’s not a lot to ask for basic sushi rice. Ramen broth was quite flavourful. We expected more from the sashimi set priced at £16, there was smoked fish, other raw fish varieties also lack flavor, which could indicate the use of poorer quality ingredients, from a price point of view this is not value for money. Our food came quite quickly, within about 15 minutes. However one of our orders was tofu soup and that was missed off the order. After we had all finished our meal we remembered the soup didn’t arrive, reminded the server and said we no longer wanted it, so to cancel the order. The server was apologetic but said if it was already being made then it can’t be cancelled, after a few minutes she brought out the soup despite of us expressing our desire to cancel the order. Even though it was a starter and should have been relatively easy to prepare, it took more than 30 minutes to arrive. It's likely that it was initially overlooked, and we believe an apology and order cancellation would have been a more appropriate response.

I’ll start by saying a lot of other food I saw looked good however what I had was not good. I had the special Raman noodle soup. It was the absolute worst I’ve ever had at any Japanese restaurant. It had slices of garlic filled polish sausage, the egg wasn’t soft boiled, the chicken was bland, the fish was frozen battered stuff that was not designed to be soaked in soup, the soup was clearly some powdered version mixed with water and the noodles were the exact same as cheap 10p packs instant noodles. The whole concoction was bland at best I didn’t fully finish it either.

A couple of starters, sushi and steak. The whole of the main course menue could easily be made low or gluten free but they don't bother. I asked if they could use rice noodles instead of wheat noodles for the Yaki Soba for example and they were not able to do this simple thing. Imagine a Japanese restaurant that doesn't have rice noodles or rice vermicelli. Fuji Hero, also in Leeds specifically say that theycan make any noodle dish with any type of noodle, just ask. We left without eating here.

Excellent food quality, nice owners, clean place with wonderful atmosphere and helpful staff. It becomes my family's favorite Japanese restaurant that we always choose whenever we fancy Japanese food. I didn't dare to eat sushi much (raw fish) but theirs are so fresh that I can indulge myself in their sushi dishes every time. What impresses me most is that they allow us to pick just salmon for our nigiri set. Most restaurants don't offer the choice. Thats why I go there so often even though it takes me 45 mins to drive there. It really worths the journey.

We travel to Leeds at least once a year to visit Little Tokyo. Best Japanese restaurant we've visited. Great food and drinks. Lovely fresh sushi and sashimi, noodle dishes and bento boxes.

Food was amazing. Menu is huge and plenty of options for vegan, veggie and gluten free. The theme 9f the restaurant is also good. We were downstairs and the server found it difficult to carry the drinks down. Service was OK.

Really cute little place with authentic menu options. We really enjoyed the 2-course midweek lunch special. Good value!
