Went for the first time so wasn’t sure what to expect. Had been told it was lovely. Must have changed hands since because the place was ok but not the most welcoming. The waitress was nice and polite. It was very cold inside. They have a fish pond inside that looked a bit dull with murky water. That wasn’t a good sign. My friend and I placed our order and it was served within ten minutes. Chicken and noodles with their own specially made curry sauce. Wasn’t impressed with the look and it tasted how it looked but was served on a cold plate meaning by the time I got half way through it was all cold. I even had to put my coat back on. A waste of £60 really but I guess you don’t know if you don’t try. However I won’t be trying there again.

I have to give you a good review because of this lovey ramen! Highly recommend seafood ramen. I’m a semi-vegetarian and I don’t eat any land meat but only seafood. Therefore I have tried many Japanese restaurants and ramen places. And I have to be honest, it’s a very reasonable price you get many varieties of different seafood and vegetables. And it tastes really good 👍 I short stay in Leeds today and will come back once visiting this city again.

This was truly one of the worst dining experiences I have had in Leeds. It was meant to be a dinner for a special occasion, but as soon as we arrived it went downhill. The restaurant fumbled the reservation so we ended up being tucked away and forgotten about by. our server most of the night. We ordered a variety of stuff, and to be fair, the gyoza and chicken karage was alright. However, it took 30 minutes to get our drinks, and we had almost finished our food by the time they arrived. Then, the sushi was very fishy and of poor quality. I think we ate 1/4 of it and left the rest. To make matters worse, the servers walked past our table multiple times and just looked at the uneaten food without asking if there was something wrong. By the end I was ready to just pay and leave, which ended up costing far too much for a very forgettable meal. Safe to say this will be my first and last time at this establishment. Very, very disappointed. Would not recommend.

I have been going to Little Tokyo for years but hadn’t been for a while. Firstly we had to ask someone to take our order as nobody came to us. I usually have chicken teriyaki bento box which has always been lovely but it arrived very quickly & some of the chicken wasn’t cooked properly & still raw & some of the batter on the tempura wasn’t cooked & stodgy! Definitely not the experience I usually have!! Very disappointing & not sure I’ll be back!

I had been here years ago and enjoyed it so I wanted to repeat. Little Tokyo is a cosy restaurant tucked away on a side street in Leeds city centre. As you enter there is a bar and I was quickly greeted by the friendly staff and guided to my seat. The decor is really nice, there's cherry blossom trees, a bridge with a koi pond and nice rustic wood tables and chairs. After I was seated I had a look through the menu and decided on the tempura seafood platter and seafood ramen. I was asked if I wanted everything at the same time and I was surprised at how fast everything was prepared and brought to my table. The presentation was great. The seafood tempura was lovely and crispy and consisted of a small octopus, fish, prawns and mussels. For a side dish, both the price and the portion size were excellent at 8.99. The seafood ramen was very tasty - king prawns, mussels, fish balls, squid and octopus. They didn't skimp on the seafood and the portion was more than adequate. I wasn't able to finish everything, though I tried my hardest as I really didn't want to waste great food. I also liked the authenticity of the restaurant. I was given chopsticks and no knife and fork - which is absolutely fine for me. I'm sure you could ask if this was something that bothers you. The staff are so welcoming and polite and the atmosphere is really relaxed and comfortable. I had a long island ice tea along with my meal which I also really enjoyed. This is hands down the nicest Japanese restaurant in Leeds and I will certainly return once again. Thank you.

However, after my visit today, I’m sad to say that the quality of the food has gone down in comparison to my previous visits. Because one of our kids has a newfound love of sushi, we've been looking forward to returning to Little Tokyo for some time. I'm really torn writing this review because LT has been there as long as I remember, and we have enjoyed many special occasions here. The staff were lovely, and the restaurant has retained the shabby chic atmosphere and deco we fondly remember (we love this but I remember thinking 10 years ago, a lick of paint wouldn't go amiss - perhaps it's time)! On to the food: Between us, we ordered a good selection. A Katsu Bento box, teriyaki bao buns, gyoza, soft shell crab, and nigiri. I would say the bento box and soft shell crab were the more successful dishes. The gyoza was a little cool, and the sashimi didn't quite live up to what we'dhad before. Also,he bao buns could do to be a little lighter. Don't get me wrong. Nothing was bad enough to complain... it just didn't live up to our amazing memories of this venue. We're willing LT to do well. Some little tweaks would make the world of difference. The other thing that would be nice to see, would be a broader selection of wines. I've given 4*'s... perhaps 3 would be a better reflection of my experience.

This place is a disaster. The food was awful, bland, and barely edible. To make matters worse, I saw a huge rat inside, which tells you all you need to know about their hygiene. On top of that, it’s outrageously expensive for such badly prepared food. They’re scamming people by exploiting the appeal of "Japanese" cuisine, but it’s a disgrace to the culture. This place should just shut down. It’s a one-star dump pretending to be a four-star restaurant. Maybe it was good once, but now it’s horrendous. Really gone downhill and doubt any of the food is actually vegetarian Terrible experience, my partner and I both ordered the king prawn fry bento box and sushi buttons. The prawns were overcooked and rubbery, not to mention somehow still smelt fishy (not a great sign and both of our stomachs has been acting up). The vegetable tempura was undercooked and under the outer layer, the tempura batter was completely raw. Not to mention, I found a piece of fish tempura mixed into my vegetable tempura (red flag). The salad was wilted and no attempt at consistent cutting, just huge thumb size chunks of cucumber, red onion etc. The sushi buttons which are absolutely advertised as vegetarian had a piece of fishy tasting tempura stuck to one of them (you could see meaty fibers stuck to it), so I can only suspect all deep fried meats and vegetables are fried in the same oil.

Went in at lunchtime on a Sunday and got sat right next to the fish pod that stunk of fish as you can imagine and put me off my food. Thankfully the food was disgusting so the fishy smell didn’t matter in the end. Ordered chicken yaki udon and was saltier than the ocean and the chicken was rock solid. My partner ordered the rib bento box which was £15 for 4 chewy microwaved ribs that were inedible and some deep fried runner beans, the food came out 5 minutes after we ordered it so was not fresh in the slightest. Also paid £7 for 2 diet cokes! Absolutely abysmal food quality please avoid at all costs! The front of house staff were so lovely and this is no reflection on them as it’s not within their control. They seriously need to get a new chef and get rid of the fish pond in the middle of the restaurant or better yet just close down altogether:)

We were greeted and sat down quickly by a friendly waitress but then didn't return to take our orders and kinda just forgot about us even though the restaurant was really quiet when we arrived and we were sat close to the main entrance. I was about to leave the table to ask if someone could take our orders before thankfully another waitress noticed us waiting and came over. She then had to scold the other waitress and tell her to start taking orders for other customers who were still waiting. A couple who arrived after us were waiting about 15 minutes, before they got up and left frustrated because no one came. I don't think they even noticed that they'd left. No one really seems to be actively looking to see if anyone needs anything, and were often just chatting at the bar. We ordered the same starter, but one was required to be gluten free which wasn't an issue at all, however when they arrived they didn't specify which one was gluten free so we were a bit anxious about that. The sake was great, but we got the bento boxes for the main which were kinda just okay, not worth how expensive they are in my opinion. I've been here a few times before and the food has been great but I left feeling a little bit disappointed this time.

The service environment is first-class. Food is that food but not that food. The whole group was confused by the food. It's really not very tasty. But it just wasn’t that food.

Comment aside, service was top notch however, this is a decent restaurant for overpriced and highly-fusioned Japanese food. Suitable for those who have no pursuit of Japanese excellency and respect for the industry. The special ramen that contains chicken/pork sausage provides true cultural shock. Came with expectation, left with disappointment.

I would say it’s Absolutely The Worst Japanese restaurant in the UK. Never seen a Broccoli in a 弁当 The curry is absolutely not a Japanese style. Rice is cold and not Japonica rice. Absolutely rubbish and expensive dishes ever tried.

Delicious food with a range of options at decent prices regarding the portion sizes! The lychee martini was delicious and service fantastic for my friends birthday - they delivered the cake we brought with a gong and a big sparkler!! Always love it here

Great atmosphere, service was amazing also. Food was leaning more to authentic side but lacking freshness with sashimi. Still a good experience and would definitely go back.

This a nice little gem in the city centre. In recent times, the service has gone down a bit but it's a great choice when craving some Japanese food. Ramen is great. Mixed Starter Platter is great. Nigiri set is great. Chicken Katsu Curry is great. Gyozas are massive. Takoyaki are just ok.

This was honestly the worst Japanese food I’ve ever had. Absolutely appalling! The fish was far from fresh & the tempura was overcooked & done so in old oil which made it taste even worse. We had to send most of our dishes back for a refund & my friend fell ill afterwards which completely ruined the evening. I do have to say though that our waitress was great. Very professional, courteous & attentive. Lastly, the restaurant is in desperate need of a good clean & a change of chef & possibly management too. Sadly we will not be back.

Come with my friends. Little Tokyo has a big menu with different kind of dishes. We try some of them. Not authentic enough for my friend, but overall food is pretty good in my opinion, staff service is nice and welcome. Will come another day to try different dishes

My friend and I met for lunch in Leeds and stumbled on Little Tokyo by chance. We were met warmly by a delightful waitress. We each ordered Taki Soba, a delicious vegetarian dish - tofu stir-fried with wheat noodles and lots of different vegetables. Very good value at £11.49 plus a decent bottle of white wine at around £22. We will certainly return on our next trip to Leeds.

Such a beautiful restaurant! The layout and uniforms are great, excellent atmosphere and good prices. Service was awful, we ordered drinks, starters and a main meal each. They brought the starter out first, then one of the main meals during the middle of the starter and we had to ask again for our drinks, which finally arrived after all the food ? We would still go back and try again though as it was such a nice atmosphere.

Are here a few days ago with my wife and kids. Decent location. Decor interesting with the koi fish and torii, although could do with a spring clean and lick of paint. Staff were fine. Set lunch menu was reasonable in terms of price but the soft drinks we ordered were small and over-priced. An absolute rip off (over £3 for a small glass circa 330ml). Food was ok. Not the best Japanese we have had (we have been to Japan so admittedly have high expectations but the wife does a better Katsu curry) and the chicken was a bit on the tough side. Wouldn’t not eat here again but I do think improvements need to be made as its average at best.

👤The staff were super friendly and welcoming. I had to use the toilet as my food was ready so they offered to put it under the hot plate to keep it warm for me, very accommodating. ⏱️Service was quick and I had a pleasant dining experience 💰10-15/pp. I paid £12.60 for my whole meal as they had an offer for free bubble tea with any main meal. ✅Food was lovely and tasted fresh. ❤️ Would definitely visit again :)

Are you changing to give salmon in small pieces and not a proper slice anymore??? It feels like left over pieces of salmon 🤷🏻‍♀️ Everything was fine and would worth the price if you served a full slice.
