The best restaurants serving Italian food in Wales

Ordered a cake for my daughter’s first birthday party. Drove an hour each way to collect the cake, got it home stored in a cool dry place. Checked it to find the cake all slumped down, characters sliding off and all wrinkled. Contacted the shop was told to phone back in the morning. The following morning (the day of my daughter’s birthday party) spoke with someone on the phone and was told they’d make me a new one. Again drove an hour each way to collect the new cake, which meant I had to delay the time of the birthday party at short notice. The staff were not very apologetic. I asked if I could get a discount on the cake for the inconvenience, and the time and petrol I’ve wasted travelling back and forth and the fact I had to change the time of the party and inconvenience family and friends - was told no and given a pack of 2 candles, and that I’d have 20% off next time, not that I’d return again after this. Shocking customer service and poor attention to detail. Never again, ruined my daughter’s special day.

Villagio’s hosted 14 of us for a birthday celebration this weekend. Liaising with Marcello beforehand was really easy and we gave a list of meal choices a week prior to arriving. The staff were very accommodating and food came out all at once and on time. With the two young men that hosted us for lovely and quick with drinks and any service that we needed. They also brought out a cake and took group photos of the group. The food was lovely, and I couldn’t recommend this place enough.

I've had a lot of carbonaras at a lot of restaurants, but this one was special. Pizza was great too. Lovely staff and we really liked the decor and atmosphere in there as well. Many thanks, will definitely be back.

Our favourite place to eat! Food is always delicious. Service is perfect. A hidden gem. Great family run place. Always need to book in advance as it’s always busy!

The food in this restaurant is very reasonable, however a very serious training must be in place with their staff, I believe it was the manager that dealt with my table and was adressing me as if I was one of his staff and not a customer, manners are essential in hospitality.

we love this place! we have been many times and the food + atmosphere + staff are always amazing ! the lunch deal is such a good value for money and the food is amazing, we also love the steak here! better than miller and carter! our favourite restaurant, we have been for birthdays, anniversary’s, celebrations and the food has never disappointed. 100% recommended. Delicious pizza. Light fluffy base. Loved the Sardinian beer. My wife's aperol spritz was disappointing. Full of ice! Pile in the prosecco Papi's!!

Me and some friends visited the restaurant on September 14th for my birthday and the entire experience was brilliant! The food was perfect, the atmosphere was great and the staff were absolutely amazing, they went above and beyond, I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! I even got a birthday card from them and they sung happy birthday to me, they truly became a part of my birthday! Sadly I didn't get photos of any main meals, but they were all presented beautifully and they tasted even better! I will 100% be visiting again!

I absolutely love the food, the service and the value for money at this restaurant, the only thing that really let's it down is how loud it is in side. Being a small premises with lots of hard surfaces general sounds of everyone talking is very loud and you can barely hear across the table and it's far from a nice experience. They could do with lots more soft furnishing to prevent the echoing sounds.

Have eaten here several times, never had a bad meal but the service has always been questionable at best. Always seems to have plenty of staff, but, they seem to like to gather behind the bar and chat rather than tend to tables. It’s not a big place, it’s just desperate for the staff to be coordinated to be effective. Seated but no drinks taken, had to prompt for food order. Plates not cleared, had to ask for desert menu, had to ask again to order deserts, had to go to the bar to pay. Given the quality of the food, it’s a real shame, and hard to recommend over the service and on paying is expecting a tip.
