Villaggio Lakeside in Cardiff

Amazing food had all round, and the service was second to none. A special mention to our waitress Zen! She was fantastic!! No ask was too much, the best service I’ve received in a long time! Thank you we will defo be back!

Fabulous local Italian food. Our fourth visit in a year. One of our party was gluten and dairy intolerant and still had options and declared the mushroom pasta dish the best she'd found.

Visited Villaggio last night and had a lovely meal. The Tagliatelle Gamberoni was out of this world. Our waitress Zen helped us make our choices (which we were thankful of 😂) and was on hand to help through the night. Thank you for a great evening!

Excellent food and first class service on Saturday night as it always is.

Excellent pasta and pizza here , good service and a reasonable price.

Compact and a lot of babies and young children around 6pm/early evening. Go a bit later if you want a child/baby free atmosphere It didn't bother us 3, all were well behaved (and the babies/children were to be fair) ;-) Great food and so tasty and fresh! Lasagne to die for, vegan pasta dish delicious and a pizza fresh and piping hot (2nd time lucky as we said no anchovies). Garlic bread, salad, and chips to accompany our mains washed down with a large glass of house red. Fast turnaround of tables so I don't think you could spend all evening here unless there was a big party of you. (Our friends were kicked off a nearby table after 1hr.15 mins, no time for dessert or another glass of wine) :-(

Came here because I wanted to try somewhere different for a birthday meal. We had a lovely evening, service was great, staff were friendly and the food was amazing.

Food was very good. It was very load, you could not talk to eachother. We all had trouble cutting our Pizza the knifes were very blunt. My fathers pizza was taken to the kitchen to cut up. We have all said that it was the first and last visit there. And they added a 10% to the bill in our case £16.80. We were very surprised as we did not know this beforhand!!

This is one of the spots I frequent when in Cardiff & let me say, it’s definitely at the top of my list for all things foodie related. Not only is the food to die for, (the Tagliatelle Mare Monte is elite) but the staff is very pleasant & Zen is an absolute gem! She has the brightest personality & that makes my visit worthwhile every time I come. 5/5*

Excellent - what a great new addition to the food options in North Cardiff. Really attractive venue, lovely reasonably priced (cheap) food and friendly staff. Only minor grumble - it was a little loud (maybe some acoustic softening could help with this) and the pizzas were pretty salty. Recommend definitely and planning a return already. Packed on a sunny Friday evening. We'll done! Returned for Saturday lunch in Oct 2023 - pizza was not salty this time. Young girl who served us was lovely. 5* lovely!!

The food was excellent. However the service was haphazard and we waited a long time for our order to be taken. There were a lot of kids running around and shouting. We had difficulty getting the bill too. It's a shame there were these issues as the food was fab

Came in for the first time, the food was absolutely delicious! The main course was really fresh, I recommend the dark chocolate brownie if you go there.

‘like having Italy at my doorstep’ After coming back from my Milan trip I was unfortunately left still craving some good authentic Italian food:( Wish I found this place sooner as it’s literally a few minutes drive away. Tagliatelle Gamberoni- pasta cooked Al dente in Napoli sauce with a bit of cream and fresh prawns! Lasagne- beautifully layered with ground beef in between fresh sheets of pasta and rich tomato sauce. Tiramisu- if you’re a fan of coffee this will not disappoint! Absolutely loved the food here! Fresh and bursting with all the right flavours! Really surprised to see how busy the restaurant was around 6pm midweek! Food must really be good here- Id suggest making a reservation on weekends to be safe. Staff were also amazing! So hospitable, friendly and attentive! Cannot wait to try the rest of the menu!

We have been here a couple of times and the food was lovely. Totally different experience tonight, bland cold food. Staff did not care at all.

Just got back from a lush evening with my friends. The food was great. For me though, what made it so great was the service. Having spent time in customer service based roles it’s such a pleasure when you have really fun and engaging staff - it literally makes the whole experience so much better. Our waitress, Zen, was great and a real pleasure to interact with - Thank You, Zen!

Food is lovely. However I've been a few times now and every time I've been asked to vacate my table due to another booking needing the table. Despite only having been there an hour, and not having finished my meal/drinks. As I say, food is lovely, just wish I wasn't asked to move/pay each time.

From the aromatic dishes to the warm ambiance, this Italian restaurant is a true gem. Our waitress, Zen, was the highlight, offering expert menu advice and attentive service. She recommended the Italian Sasuage and Carbonara – both were divine! A 5-star experience indeed, thanks to Zen's exceptional service.

Very tasty food although over charged on 3 of the 4 pasta dishes ordered. Staff not the most friendly or welcoming, busy on a Tuesday evening and became very noisy in the small area.

A great Italian restaurant for all the family. The food is excellent fair. Don't forget to book ahead as it is always buisy even on the early evening. A perfect local restaurant.

Genuinely gutted :( Service was really good but the food wasn’t good at all. Our pasta was raw (both) so we asked for it to be cooked again, for it to come back even worse so we left the food and left leaving hungry. Embarrassed because I’ve said this place is meant to be good for so long yo family yet they undercook pasta…twice😔😖

Dined at Villaggio Lakeside Cardiff last night for the first time and what an amazing experience we received. We were looked after by the fantastic Zen, who could't do enough for us. The service was outstanding as was the food and the atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

Every meal I have had there has been amazing. The food is delicious and the staff are very friendly. Recently had a takeaway for the first time from here and the food was still perfect. The meals weren’t smaller than if you ate in which you sometimes get from other restaurants so I would highly recommend eating in or getting a takeaway

Just picked up a take away carbonara absolutely terrible very small portion for £11 dry and tasteless worst carbonara I have ever tasted

Visited with Cardiff Lions club members for our social evening. We were a group of 14 members. As the organiser I had to give the manager the dishes the members wanted and which I did. I did not realise that was taken as preorder. On the positive side I did not have to pay any deposit for the group. Luckily for me everyone stuck to the dishes they had indicated they wanted apart from two where the restaurant could not provide the particular pasta. Everybody liked the food which was lovely and the service within reason considering how busy the restaurant was and can be a bit noisy. In my opinion it would be great place for largish parties and for smaller numbers. The best part of me for arranging an evening for the Cardiff Lions social at this restaurant was that I did not have to collect and pay a deposit. Would certainly recommend and dine at this restaurant again hoping that I won’t have to pay a deposit upfront.

Had an amazing meal here, it was a quick stop for myself and my son on our way home, we hadn't been before, but will definitely be returning. The pizza's were the best I've ever had and I've never seen my son eat so quietly because he enjoyed it so much. The service was fantastic, our waitress Zen was so friendly and made us feel very welcomed, very good recommendations from her too. Will definitely be recommending to friends and can't wait to go back.

Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff

Visted Villaggio Lakeside for the first time last night, after being recommened by a friend who has been there. Have to say, wasn't disappointed. It's a lovely place to go. The food is excellent, staff are amazing and friendly. Our waitress was (I think) called Zen. She was very friendly and knowledgeable, nothing was a bother or too much trouble and she even recommended a few dishes to try. Will definitely be going back.

Another great experience for a weeknight treat at Villaggio tonight, made extra special by top notch service from Zen!

A nice restaurant. Nice food and nice service. It was a bit loud with a large group celebrating a birthday but not enough to spoil it visit. Is recommended Villaggio Lakeside.

My wife and I live locally and were looking forward to visiting the restaurant and making it a regular place to eat. We were the first to arrive after evening opening and were immediately seated by the entrance door. We both ordered our pizza and some sides and my wife order some extra toppings to go on her gorgonzola and asparagus pizza. Unfortunately when the pizza arrived, one of the extra toppings was missing (my wife only realised half way through) and the pineapple that was there resembled large tined chunks you would get at a children's party. I addition, there was very little gorgonzola and what was there had no taste and the whole pizza was swimming in runny tomato sauce and the base appeared undercooked. My seafood pizza did contain the components such as mussels, prawns and tuna etc. as described. However there were 4 mussels, a few tiny shrimps and cockles I think and some tuna. Overall, there was the bare minimum toppings and again the base appeared undercooked. I will say the side orders of arrabiata sauce and fries were really tasty and the pizza crust was cooked to perfection. We both ate the pizzas as they were edible, but did feel the quality and quantity was not what you expect from a newly opened business wanting to establish themselves. To compound the disappointing experience, we were not asked at any point if everything was OK with the food. Had we been asked, we would have raised the issues described. When the waiter did finally come to the table to clear our plates, we explained our disappointment and he did admit tinned pineapple was used and that we couldn't expect fresh pineapple in a restaurant. He then mumbled as he walked off about our bill and did not return. There was also no interaction with any manager to discuss our poor experience. Finally, we had to again ask for a member of staff to provide the bill and it was given with no explanation. The original waiter again had to be called over and he became slightly rude when responding to my query around the bill. The restaurant did refund my wife's meal which wasn't our intention or request and we eventually left. So in summary, a 2 star review is unfortunately fair in this situation and sadly, we will not be returning due to this poor experience in both service and quality of food.

Visited Villaggio for the first time and it absolutely lives up to the reviews. Since it opened a couple of short months ago - it's always been busy and we can see why. The food was outstanding - we had Arancini, Meatballs and Calamari to start, the Tagliatelli with King Prawns and Mushrooms and Canneloni. Portions were generous - but not too much (the exact right balance for excellent value!) and the flavours really really good. The service was really good as well. We will 100% be back - so happy to have it on our doorstep! Thanks Team!

Me and my boyfriend come to lakeside villagio, the food was lovely and our waiter Zen made our experience even more enjoyable with quality service, nothing was too much to ask and she made us feel extremely comfortable . Zen always had a smile on her face and knew exactly how to deal with customers. I can’t recommend this place enough to anyone who’s looking for great service and lovely Italian food!

Six of my family enjoyed an early evening meal last night. The restaurant was busy and the atmosphere was great. The meals we ordered were all excellent, service from Zen our waiter for the short time we were there was first class, nothing too much trouble,.
