Our favourite place to eat! Food is always delicious. Service is perfect. A hidden gem. Great family run place. Always need to book in advance as it’s always busy!

We had our first experience of the restaurant yesterday and will definitely be back. The food was fantastic and the portions were ample service was quick and efficient with very pleasant staff. A very relaxed atmosphere in a busy environment made for a very pleasant evening. Well done Villagio Lakeside

We knew the food would impress our fussiest friend and we weren’t wrong. We had a lovely spacious table near the kitchen so we could look at all that was going on. All staff knew their stuff and were friendly and efficient. They do everything with a gluten free alternative which is so great if you have a visitor with certain needs. Food was fab, you didn’t let us down!!’ In fact we’re taking other friends there next weekend.

We had a lovely meal here. Service was efficient and staff are all very friendly ! Loved the busy atmosphere. The food is delicious. I highly recommend the spaghetti cabonara. The cheesecake is the best I've ever tasted. We can't wait to return.

Lovely food. Service was a little slow but that said we were a large group on a Tuesday night. Didn't like where the toilet was situated but that's being picky, no point posting a review if its not honest. Food definitely made up for any negative.

First off I have to say the food was excellent; we all really enjoyed our meal. But there were a few things I wasn’t as happy with. Firstly the service was a little slow, that maybe ok if you’re not rushing anywhere but with two hungry 5 year olds it was a bit of a problem. The second issue is that the noise in the restaurant was overwhelming. There didn’t appear to be any particularly loud or rowdy parties but for some reason the noise really was overwhelming. Finally, the whole reason for our visit was that it was my birthday. My daughter had bought a cake and as you can imagine the grandchildren were very excited. But when she went to ask staff if they could bring out the cake after our meal she was told that there was a £10 charge! I’ve never heard anything so ridiculous. If the reason for the charge was because the restaurant felt it was missing out on customers ordering dessert, it completely backfired! We ate our meal, didn’t order dessert and went home for cake.

I love this place. A relaxed atmosphere , lovely staff and the best lasagne!

Incredible hidden gem in cardiff. The Palladino pizza was out of this world with the honey drizzle dip! Starters were also 10 out of 10. I've been too many Italian restaurants in my time but this beats them all. Service was spot on, and overall excellent value for the quality of food that's on offer! I will be back when visiting Cardiff.

Went for my wife and I 33rd wedding anniversary, food and wine absolutely stunning,( best garlic bread I've ever tasted), lovely place,definitely be back..

Nice selection of Italian food and always good. Not fast so allow plenty of time. Also really noisy. You have to book. It's always busy!

Lovely Italian restaurant, the sort every neighborhood should have. Traditional menu, well cooked, presented, served etc. Nice welcome and very busy which is always a good sign for a non-town-centre restaurant. Will definitely visit again

It appears that they are holding tables for reservations that do not exist. I am aware that this is a common practice employed by restaurants. When I arrived at approximately 18:00, I was informed that all tables were reserved. However, upon mentioning that I would leave a review, they suddenly found a table available for a one-hour duration.

Fantastic restaurant with amazing food. We sat outside for our meal expecting it to be a bit chilly but once the heaters were on it was fine. We had two portions of garlic bread with mozzarella for starters, it was so good we ordered more to go with our meals. We all had pasta, I had the penne casalinga and cleared my plate as it was delicious. The portions were a good size, not massive so room for dessert of white chocolate profiteroles. Our waiter was very friendly. I'll definitely go back and would recommend to anyone

We have visited this restaurant yesterday for dinner. Absolutely fantastic. The food 5* quality and soooo tasty. Staff are so friendly and kind. Love the atmosphere. We would recommend this place 100%. Child friendly. Easy to park on main road. Looking forward to our next visit.

What a fabulous way to spend Father’s Day . We sat outside it was very comfortable . The restaurant was packed. Once again the service and food was fantastic !! Grace who was looking after us was attentive and helpful again .

Great food, but a bit echo-ey and hard to hold a conversation.

Not lakeside! Roadside and utterly lacking in atmosphere. Food is good but it’s a shockingly bad location and atmosphere. Lake is way down the road!

Ate here recently for the first time. It’s a really nice venue with a great vibe. Staff / service was very good despite the restaurant being very busy. The pizza was lovely and tasted fresh but sadly it had a very soggy bottom and came to table cold. As I was eating as part of a group it would have been awkward to complain. So, for me it was disappointing but think I was just unlucky.

Had food here with my family, I had a lovely waiter Zen she made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed, Zen was very polite and made a lovey experience feel very special 👌

Tried it for the first time, small local restaurant, busy with plenty of atmosphere. The staff were charming. Had the antipasto sharer, followed by pizza with a bottle of the house red. The food and drink was excellent- some of the nicest pizza I’ve ever had. I really can’t wait to go back.

Lovely little place with fabulous pizza and great staff. We have a kid with severe allergies and catering for him was not an issue for these guys. In fact, they were incredibly proactive and extremely helpful. Our server must've made about 5000 steps extra going to the kitchen and back with clear information!

Thanks so much Villaggio Lakeside for always making us so welcome. My Mum and Dad and I visit frequently and the food is always delicious. Staff and customers alike have been very considerate with our slow pace and it really helps!

Lovely meal, regular new specials, good service and nice atmosphere

Busy place with friendly staff. Very good pasta dishes, one with Italian sausage, the other with chicken, with chips with cheese and truffles, followed by gelato for dessert. Enjoyable!

This was relating to a takeaway meal we ordered last week. I’ve had and loved the lasagne here but after shocking service last time we went we only ever have takeaway now. So disappointed there was absolutely no béchamel sauce at all on the lasagne why do that?!?!? My son had a pizza but there was so much crust and hardly any pizza topping and it was cold, my husband had spaghetti with olives and capers which he enjoyed but again all the food was cold. We were told the time to get there for collection but clearly the food had been standing a while. Wont be bothering again sadly

Second time I've visited villagios. Both times its been really busy and both times the food has been outstanding. Best gluten free pizza I've had!

Delicious Italian food! If you love good pasta, pizza, arancini and all the amazing things an authentic Italian restaurant has to offer you won't be disappointed. Very friendly and great service. Next time I need to save room for dessert as it looked fantastic and is homemade but I didn't have room. Lovely pinot grigio as well!

Pricey. Pizza greasy with soggy base. I walked in off street wanting table for 1 at 7.15. this could be done if I was gone by 8. I should have gone somewhere else but won't be back. Maybe they got rushed and it would have been better if I'd booked.

Great restaurant we dined inside the place was full. They had outside seating which had alot off room so if you want to eat inside I recommend booking. I had the calamari to start which was amazing and I had a pizza off the specials for mains which was also great. There was plenty of flavour and good size portions. The atmosphere inside was amazing the place was full with family's, couples and friends all having a good time and enjoying themselves. I would recommend this restaurant to all great friendly atmosphere with goos qaulity food.

We were a party of 9 celebrating a birthday on a Friday night. Couldn't fault it, food was lovely, staff friendly and helpful. Very busy, had to wait a while to order desserts, but that wasn't really a problem for us. Will definitely be returning.

Amazing food had all round, and the service was second to none. A special mention to our waitress Zen! She was fantastic!! No ask was too much, the best service I’ve received in a long time! Thank you we will defo be back!

Fabulous local Italian food. Our fourth visit in a year. One of our party was gluten and dairy intolerant and still had options and declared the mushroom pasta dish the best she'd found.

Visited Villaggio last night and had a lovely meal. The Tagliatelle Gamberoni was out of this world. Our waitress Zen helped us make our choices (which we were thankful of 😂) and was on hand to help through the night. Thank you for a great evening!

Excellent pasta and pizza here , good service and a reasonable price.

Compact and a lot of babies and young children around 6pm/early evening. Go a bit later if you want a child/baby free atmosphere It didn't bother us 3, all were well behaved (and the babies/children were to be fair) ;-) Great food and so tasty and fresh! Lasagne to die for, vegan pasta dish delicious and a pizza fresh and piping hot (2nd time lucky as we said no anchovies). Garlic bread, salad, and chips to accompany our mains washed down with a large glass of house red. Fast turnaround of tables so I don't think you could spend all evening here unless there was a big party of you. (Our friends were kicked off a nearby table after 1hr.15 mins, no time for dessert or another glass of wine) :-(

Food was very good. It was very load, you could not talk to eachother. We all had trouble cutting our Pizza the knifes were very blunt. My fathers pizza was taken to the kitchen to cut up. We have all said that it was the first and last visit there. And they added a 10% to the bill in our case £16.80. We were very surprised as we did not know this beforhand!!

Excellent - what a great new addition to the food options in North Cardiff. Really attractive venue, lovely reasonably priced (cheap) food and friendly staff. Only minor grumble - it was a little loud (maybe some acoustic softening could help with this) and the pizzas were pretty salty. Recommend definitely and planning a return already. Packed on a sunny Friday evening. We'll done! Returned for Saturday lunch in Oct 2023 - pizza was not salty this time. Young girl who served us was lovely. 5* lovely!!

This is one of the spots I frequent when in Cardiff & let me say, it’s definitely at the top of my list for all things foodie related. Not only is the food to die for, (the Tagliatelle Mare Monte is elite) but the staff is very pleasant & Zen is an absolute gem! She has the brightest personality & that makes my visit worthwhile every time I come. 5/5*

The food was excellent. However the service was haphazard and we waited a long time for our order to be taken. There were a lot of kids running around and shouting. We had difficulty getting the bill too. It's a shame there were these issues as the food was fab

Came in for the first time, the food was absolutely delicious! The main course was really fresh, I recommend the dark chocolate brownie if you go there.

‘like having Italy at my doorstep’ After coming back from my Milan trip I was unfortunately left still craving some good authentic Italian food:( Wish I found this place sooner as it’s literally a few minutes drive away. Tagliatelle Gamberoni- pasta cooked Al dente in Napoli sauce with a bit of cream and fresh prawns! Lasagne- beautifully layered with ground beef in between fresh sheets of pasta and rich tomato sauce. Tiramisu- if you’re a fan of coffee this will not disappoint! Absolutely loved the food here! Fresh and bursting with all the right flavours! Really surprised to see how busy the restaurant was around 6pm midweek! Food must really be good here- Id suggest making a reservation on weekends to be safe. Staff were also amazing! So hospitable, friendly and attentive! Cannot wait to try the rest of the menu!

Just got back from a lush evening with my friends. The food was great. For me though, what made it so great was the service. Having spent time in customer service based roles it’s such a pleasure when you have really fun and engaging staff - it literally makes the whole experience so much better. Our waitress, Zen, was great and a real pleasure to interact with - Thank You, Zen!

Lovely food and service. The tables are very close together and it is very noisy between the music and people talking over it to be heard.

Food is lovely. However I've been a few times now and every time I've been asked to vacate my table due to another booking needing the table. Despite only having been there an hour, and not having finished my meal/drinks. As I say, food is lovely, just wish I wasn't asked to move/pay each time.

From the aromatic dishes to the warm ambiance, this Italian restaurant is a true gem. Our waitress, Zen, was the highlight, offering expert menu advice and attentive service. She recommended the Italian Sasuage and Carbonara – both were divine! A 5-star experience indeed, thanks to Zen's exceptional service.

Very tasty food although over charged on 3 of the 4 pasta dishes ordered. Staff not the most friendly or welcoming, busy on a Tuesday evening and became very noisy in the small area.

The food an wine were really good, The staff are very helpful + friendly, have been 6 times lately, all of which have been very good. Lots better with the change of lighting!

Genuinely gutted :( Service was really good but the food wasn’t good at all. Our pasta was raw (both) so we asked for it to be cooked again, for it to come back even worse so we left the food and left leaving hungry. Embarrassed because I’ve said this place is meant to be good for so long yo family yet they undercook pasta…twice😔😖

Dined at Villaggio Lakeside Cardiff last night for the first time and what an amazing experience we received. We were looked after by the fantastic Zen, who could't do enough for us. The service was outstanding as was the food and the atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

Every meal I have had there has been amazing. The food is delicious and the staff are very friendly. Recently had a takeaway for the first time from here and the food was still perfect. The meals weren’t smaller than if you ate in which you sometimes get from other restaurants so I would highly recommend eating in or getting a takeaway

The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and is very popular. The pizzas were good with plenty of choice of other meals on the menu.

Just picked up a take away carbonara absolutely terrible very small portion for £11 dry and tasteless worst carbonara I have ever tasted
