The owner of this place is absolutely lovely, so so impressed by his service. And always love the desserts - constantly back at this place. Can’t resist !

There are a lot of styles and flavors, and the combinations with waffles and pancakes are also varied. It is a good place for friends to gather and chat, and have a dessert of ice cream. We spent a pleasant afternoon here.

Ordered a freak shake which comes with a waffle (or use to) spent £17 for it to only be a bit of cream in foil with 3 pretzels. Most outrageous waste of money especially seeing as prices have increased.

Food was delicious, I had a strawberry and chocolate crepe with additional banana - lush! The food arrived to the table in a timely manner, not a whole lot of atmosphere there as it was quiet but that could have been the late time of day we visited.

Came here with some friends to get dessert, we spent £10 each on crepes with high hopes. I spent a pound on extra kinder topping only two bites of it, it was also stale and definitely not a pounds worth. My friend also paid for brownies and only got 2 tiny bite sized brownies which would cost £1 for a pack of 30, they were also extremely dry. ON TOP OF THAT the whipped cream was quite literally out of date with a sour taste and an even worse eggy and sour smell!! We all went home and one of my friends was literally vomiting. Complete rip off and waste of time, could make it better myself. Never returning

Used to come here all the time and enjoyed it service was poor, didn’t have enough change in the till so wanted to charge me extra!!!! Ice cream tasted so bad I threw it out!!!!!!! Will never return!!!! Worst ice cream shop around !!!!

If you love ice-cream, milkshakes, sundaes and everything in between this is definitely the place for you! We had two sundaes absolutely out of this world, may seem a little expensive but once in a while why not!!

Would be a game changer if diabetic/sugar free ice cream/desserts available in general.

We arrived just before closing, my dad wanted the pistachio ice cream but they had run out and didn’t have any more. The portions were good and ice cream tasty.

Delicious desserts, outstanding customer service, great atmosphere. Loved the entire experience. This was my first visit, it certainly will not be my last!

Visit for family birthday. First, was overcharged. Then they will refund the money the next day then 2 days later still haven't got refunded. Speak to manager, she said she already refund to my account. Take 3 days to go through. Now been 5 days and still haven't received refund. Manager not helpful enough. Don't know why they overcharged so quick but take longer to refund. Will not reccomend to go here but if you do, make sure you check your order and prices before paying

It's unacceptable to find hair in your food, especially at a reputable establishment like Coco Gelato. While it's understandable that mistakes can happen, it's crucial that the business has robust processes in place to prevent such incidents. In this case, having a hair protection system in place while preparing food could have avoided this issue. As a customer, you expect a certain level of cleanliness and quality, and it's disappointing to have those expectations not met. Even though a replacement was provided, no other form of compensation was provided as a gesture of a formal apology. Not acceptable.

Came in this afternoon with my family. The woman who served us was very kind and nothing was too much trouble! A* service couldn’t be more pleased🥰 Will definitely be returning soon.

Thought it was fairly overpriced for what we had n our trip there. The place was clean and tidy, staff were friendly, just couldn't justify the pricing for what we had

Food is okay, nothing to write home about. The decor feels somewhat unloved and the atmosphere isn't great. The service is very mediocre; I've never saw a smile on a member of staff's face.

I always come here regularly, such an amazing vibe with the best desserts in town hands down ! I particularly love the hot chocolate and mocha , and if I eat more than waffles wi th icecream

Tried shakes here yesterday. Shakes were good but the ambience is not that appealing. Otherwise lots of flavours is plus point

Went for a Mother’s Day treat and was treated to chocolate dipped strawberries and after eight mints for free ! There was a slight mix up with the type of ice cream I had ordered on my waffle but the issue was handled so well it wasn’t a negative, it shows what good customer service skills they have! Should have taken a picture of my wonderful waffle with dark cherry and carrot cake ice cream but forgot until afterwards! Always enjoy our visits to cocos 😃

Whenever I come back here for my order it is always perfect and the service is great all the time. Also, this place have a many different styles of desserts so it has something for everyone if you have different tastes.

Food is lovely , the place was empty and the staff weren’t that helpful at all . Used to be a decent place to take the kids , it’s just seriously lacking any sort of atmosphere or happy staff

Service 0 to be quite honest our order take almost an hour I came with my kids to have just 3 corns of ice cream and we were a bite in a rush they took too long to serve us I should your having the wrong stuff definitely!!

Nice dessert place. Plenty of choice that for sure will satisfy the cravings of most people's sweet tooth. Oreo waffle was perfect but the milkshake could've been nicer with more ice cream!

Been waited for uber order for 30min, she told me 20m wait then 20m again, very rude staff by just asking why order takes ages as customer was constantly ringing and asking for the order takes ages, when asked started shouting like psychopath, had to cancelled order and wasted my 30min and poor customer stranded, such disgrace staffs plz avoid order online from here you won't be able to cancel neither you get order on time disgusting

The one young member of staff (I believe may be transgender), is the best member of staff you could ask for. Seriously impressed with her service and attitude. Always welcoming and makes our drinks perfect everytime. All the other servers are hit and miss where the drinks are good or terrible, but hers are awesome. I just hope she knows how good a job she's doing.

Very slow service, cream was totally out of date the food came in different steps for 3 people the ice cream came after 30 and then for the waffle wich is mine came after 40 minutes

Excellent choice of ice creams. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean shop and toilets. Only down side is some of the ice cream sundaes are a bit expensive and shop opens after 3pm in mid week

Has gone down hill since my last visit (almost 2 years ago). Service poor, staff swearing, price increases & smaller portions.

Awful! Lost my order!! And all my friends had theirs but then had to wait for me!! And the poor staff are just kids left to run the place

The gelato shakes were splendid but the crepes and the sundae was disappointing for me and my family because the sundae was awful and the stuff that was in it was not what it said in the description. The crepe was way too sweet.

Arrived around 19:30 with around 30/40 People in the shop. I waited about 10 minutes to be served after having 3 staff stare right at me. When I was served there was no apology for the wait. The attitude on the staff was terrible. Wouldn’t go back there. Joke of a place!!!

Presentation of my freak shake amazing as normal. But the freak shake board was spilt. I didn't notice this till l hate ate most of the cream on the board. Wooden split boards harbour all mannor of bacteria. I did bring it to the attention of the manager Jemmen(this may not be the correct tall, short haired guy) whose attitude was appalling. Never had a complaint about the board! We you have ate it should have brought it back sooner! I explained l wasn't looking for a refund just bringing it to their attention, to which l got its more attitude. I mentioned environmently health and apparently they have been in and all is fine!

Amazing place. The list of available choices is truly amazing as is the taste of the ice creams available. Sweet helpful staff. Keep it up

We've been regulars here since it opened and today we found it had gone down hill a bit. Still a decent selection of ice cream but found the quality of the waffles has changed. Going for a cheaper option maybe to cut back on costs? This definitely reflected in the taste and found it let the dish down. Kids portions seemed slightly smaller and the hot chocolate was awful, hardly any hot chocolate in the mug, tasted different and mostly whipped cream. We'll probably give somewhere else a go next time

Understaffed and the ember frontline on the till could only manage one ice cream at a time. Slow service. 30 mins wait and there was only 3 people in front of me. Give it a miss if you don’t have time.

Me and my family have been visiting Coco Gelato since it opened and the food has been consistently great . Unfortunately out last 2 visits have been disastrous due to the attitude of the staff . Both times (two consecutive days) the cafe has been open despite the opening times being clear on the door, on day 1 my granddaughter and great niece waited for 25 minutes and when they eventually opened no apologies to anyone in the queue . Today myself, nephew and great nephew waited 30 mins post opening time . Staff were inside but completely ignored us knocking and went as far as to laugh at us! People in the queue left in disgust . My 6 year old nephew asked why the staff we being so rude and ignoring us ! When they eventually opened no apology despite me saying how incensed I was by their behaviour , in fact they started arguing with us !!! We won’t be returning any day soon for sure 🥵🥵🥵

Despite the reviews I had read the girl serving us was professional and polite,even went as far as explaining the choices and options to my daughter,ice-cream was stunning,place could do with a bit of tlc bit the prices are very reasonable

Waited 25 minutes to just get seved. Then waited 40 minutes for it actually to arrive. I would use the word disorganised rabble. But they are probably a bit more organised than this group. Appalling is all I can say

Took my children in for ice cream. Amazing range of flavours, but had to wait too long to be served. Poor customer service, staff member was deliberately unhelpful and surly. It wouldn't have cost them anything to smile. Choice of music was unsuitable for a family restaurant.

Very disappointing visit. Decided not come again. Menu is set in stone you cannot change it. Even though they did change it on previous occasion. Cookie dough was under cooked, no crispiness, paste like heap Extortionate prices with small scoops of ice creams. I get a bigger serving of ketchup in restaurant than ice cream here. 10 quid for a cookie dough and ice cream, pathetic. Charging London prices in Cardiff My family and friends will not be visiting again. There are other nice places nearby

Lovely desserts & fast service! A bit loud when busy but overall a great time.

Update April 2022 Still 5 stars! Staff very chill and friendly. One staff member was reliving a night out and we had great tunes on with funky vibes. Music improved thankyou. 😀 Wheelchair accessible. Spotlessly clean. Massive choice of shakes , sundaes, waffles/crepe combo's. Limited savoury menu but what they do have is a good selection. Cheaper to go for build your owns (and you get more). Ideally check out the menu before you go as I found it over whelming. No parking so allow time to park but mostly free parking surrounding for up to 2 hours. Nicely lit. Toilets clean. Music a little loud for my liking and random (from rak su type to odd women wailing out Italian tunes)

Always a good late night spot to get the sweet fix. Their waffles are great, we always get the Eton mess one. Tried the cookie dough for the first time which also did not disappoint. Would have been a five star but the coffee is terrible. Do not recommend, stick to the warm desserts.

Was really nice and on our way out from Cardiff to valleys. Easy to find and plenty of parking. Friendly staff big selection of the sweet stuff. Cakes icecreams Waffles freakshakes. My partner loved it she recommended it actually she had kinder and strawberrys & cream on a chocolate cone. I had crunchie and mars on a plain cone I wasn't as impressed with mine. I would go back we eat in Cardiff a lot and I would try more things for sure. We did want a freakshake but asked to change one of the icecreams or have more of one and less of the other but they couldn't accommodate that set menus can't be changed? or I could pay £1.50 to make the change.. So we just had scones instead.

Food and the staff are both good food was actually rather lovely and the ice-cream plentiful and the staff were willing to help me out when their website didn't reflect what they are to be offered install however the music was far too loud the staff could barely hear me and won't turn it down there was a lot of distractions and the place felt sticky in the air

I have been visiting Coco Gelato since it opened and when it first opened it was a lovely place, gorgeous food, lovely staff and great atmosphere. Unfortunately over the years this place has drastically gone down hill, the food is still beautiful but the staff, the atmosphere and cleanliness has really let it down. I still visit here once every few months to see if things have changed and I am dissapointed every time, A friend and I visited about 2 weeks ago on a Friday evening and I was very sad to see an altercation between 2 customers and the staff, from what I heard the customers had been waiting a very long time for their order, in the mean time I could see myself the manager scrambling around for their receipt as they had 'lost' their whole order, when the customer confronted the manager they admitted their fault but the customers response was 'we have been standing here, you could have just asked us again' which I feel would of saved the customers, the manager and I some time as I was standing in the queue witnessing all of this. After being served and I had sat down the altercation took a turn and it was an uproar of arguing and shouting and I am afraid to say it wasn't from the 2 customers invoved, it was from the staff, the manager and the gentleman behind the counter were raising their voices, pointing and being extremely rude to the customers which ended up in the manager throwing the customers out... the customers weren't shouting at all and were not being rude in any way and they were treated very unfairly. After a lovely show, with no apology from the staff who knew we could hear and see everything, there were about 4 tables of people still inside eating, they turned the lights off! Again, no apologies or to say we're closing now, you have 10 minutes etc they just turned the lights off. Another awful experience and by the way the staff handled everything, they lost quite a few customers that night. I hope those 2 customers who were involved in all this take it further.

I have been going here for years. Unfortunately place has gone downhill. I was ignored while waiting at counter. Only to be served by a rude lady with no customer skills and a stinking attitude. Had to have word with manager who did apologise. Shame won’t be returning til it’s sorted.

Buy straight from the restaurant; You'll save money and get to speak to the lovely staff! For birthdays order an ice cream cake!!!

Nice setting, but very expensive for what you get

The best in the business, I absolutely loved this place, tasty desserts and most importantly great customer service. The spot ambassador waffle I had was great. I would highly recommend my go to place for dessert. I love the lady who makes the ice cream she’s super friendly, amazing people.

REALLY REALLY BAD Orderd 5 waffles and 1 crepe only got the one crepe and the strawberries were brusied abs and leafs still attatched. The straws were dirty and the suppose to be vanilla shake was banana. Still waiting on our waffles. Don’t order from here my friend is now crying

Probably some of the most impressive deserts I have ever gotten. It's great portion I would say for what you pay for and tastes great. The staff were great and helpful as well.

It was OK. It wasn't a very family friendly environment. Staff didn't seem to pay attention. We asked for 2 tubs of ice cream of 2 different flavours. But they put both into one tub. When we corrected them they gave us again but in the same tub again.

Disgusting hygiene. I order more than £50 for my family and guess what.. All of us got food poisoning. It’s revolting to think they handle the food/ice cream that way. Everyone including the kids is suffering right now. I will never step foot there again.

Lovely place for desserts! Great experience overall and the staff were very helpful when helping me decide which flavours to pick. Delicious is an understatement, they had so many flavours to choose from I will be back to try some more! They also told me all the gelato is handmade in store, very rare thing to find in Cardiff!

Visited this week with a friend for the first time wasn’t expecting a massive display of flavours it came as a sweet surprise excuse the pun. We had waffles and they were divine mine was loaded with strawberries and Oreos. Place was lovey and clean and staff were very polite, would definitely recommend.

Had gone to this place as it was a very last minute treat, I asked the manager if she could give a crepe but she refused, the other co worker told the manager that it’s possible as it is still hot and how she has not cleaned that part as yet, again the manager refused her. I only gave the 2 stars because of the young girl.(co-worker).otherwise there was plenty of time left..I thanked the other girl for trying her best as my kid wanted it but not to worry. The manager out of good will gave a pistachio gelato… no one wanted. The food was OK, but the customer service was a 0 especially for a manager. Definitely won’t be going back after first negative experience.

Visited this evening. This place is staffed by kids who don't have a clue how to run a business or even be professional. The 2 girls were so rude towards us, this is the one who had a love bite on her neck! and the other 1 with a foreign accent. We asked for a tissue and she turned around from having her back to us and said "can't you see them" with a attitude which made me feel unwelcome and that I was just there bothering her,. Being partially sited I found that utterly unacceptable and disgusting. They take forever giving you what you ordered even for a green tea it takes them 20mins. In this current day & age with covid they only accept card if you spend £5 minimum. My green tea etc came to £4 and the odd pence and the girl wouldn't budge from "£5 or over for card payment" clearly a way of tax invasion to put customers off from using their card or trying to make them spend more inorder to get their food. We saw the change in the 2 girls behaviours to a slightly more behaved one when the owner walked in to move things around, and as soon as he thanked them for being so good & amazing and left they started playing up again. This is the very reason other ppl have left negative reviews. I think this place should worry less about having female staff and more about adding somebody to the team who'll care whilst management isn't around. Having made this comment the Asian female and male and the white young lad there are actually pleasant and helpful but they are not the ones on the tills usually (unfortunately). I stopped coming to this place due to the service but atleast now I am reassured that I will stick to the main dessert parlour on city road while coco gelato continues to recruit arrogant rude & offensive staff to run a circus for them.
