Great service and great food yet again. Service was quick, even though they were very busy. Food arrive piping hot. I had Lasagne which was delicious. i tasted the Sword fish ravioli which was also very nice.

The last time we went to this place, it was good, but this time the service was more than a bit slow, yet we still had a service charge included on the bill.

Exceedingly poor. Thought we would visit our local italian for Valentines day. Spent over an hour waiting for our Calzones. My girlfriend spotted the calzones has not been cooked properly and we had been eating raw dough. Unfortunately I had eaten most of mine as I assumed it was cheese. Both had a bad belly and ruined our night. Owner took one of the calzones off the bill. Which we did not argue as we wanted to get out of there as quick as possible. However, how shameful to know your customers ate raw dough and charge us for one of them. Not to mention the cheek of adding service charge on. We are the least cheap people ever but it is the principle. Very disappointing for our local restaurant.

Lovely place with community feel to it. Pizza was light and crisp, bursting with flavours and good size. Sticky toffee pudding was more like a piece of cake with an unusual taste.

Recently went here for dinner with friends and had a lovely time! We all had different pasta dishes and it was delicious! Shall be visiting again.

I went here for my birthday and hired out the upstairs private room. It was great! The service was very good and the food was great. The pizzas were handmade and authentic and the pasta looked delicious.

Food and drinks were good. Just so others are aware the only downside was the 10% service charge which was quite a lot as there were 9 of us dining. So we ended up paying over £200 for pasta and pizza meals.

Simply the best Italian I have ever had, the food is authentic and fresh and is sourced locally. Genuinely gorgeous food, and the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. In addition to this, the service was great and the whole experience was top notch. We will definitely be returning!

Busy Italian restaurant booking advised, this is a statement in itself! Tasty food. Polite staff. Location in Whitchurch village, within Cardiff. They can diversify form couples to very large groups with the same polite manner. All good in my book.

Ridiculously good pizza at stupidly affordable prices. As a bass player, this was THE place to go for my birthday, then onto the Earl Haig for an Arthur Brown concert.

Outstanding!! I accidentally booked a table for the wrong night, they still made sure to seat us on a busy Friday night. The staff were amazing and the food was even better if possible. Visited on a Friday evening in November. Great atmosphere and pretty busy when we arrived for our 8 o'clock booking. Some great Italian staples on the menu, both went for pasta dishes that were really good. Table next to us had pizza which looked equally as good. Our food seemed to come quicker than when we ordered our drinks but I think they were just busy. Would recommend!

We have been here and to the restaurant in Whitchurch and unfortunately won’t be returning to either venue again. Went with friends mid- week. The pizzas we had weren’t very nice the service was slow. They then added service charge on top for rubbish food and service. We won’t be back.

Loved the food as always, prices are quite high for an Italian and the acoustics in the room aren't great so it's very loud in there and depending who you're sat near it makes it hard to hear. Thats the only 2 reasons I didn't give 5 stars, would recommend and will go back.

Really disappointing evening here, our table was by the door and bar area and we were surrounded by people collecting takeaways, had people walking past all evening. Pizza was ok, one of my toppings was missing and then they still added an automatic service charge to the bill! Won’t be rushing back!

Best pasta I have ever tasted combined with enthusiastic, attentive table service, and friendly talks with a passionate staff. 10/10 recommend.

Turned up without a booking and they still managed to fit us in. We've eaten there and had deliveries before and have never been disappointed. The pizzas on this visit were just perfect.

I am ashamed to say this, I have lived in Whitchurch for 61 years, and last Saturday was the first time I went there. It did it disappoint. The food was great as, too, was the atmosphere. The staff all worked hard, thank you!

Another great meal at this place. Friend and I went for the lasagne and the Penne al Pollo and a cheeky cheesy garlic bread. Beautiful food and very filling too. I've never had a bad meal from this place and I'm glad cardiff has a restaurant like this.

Friendly staff. Long waits when busy

Went here in a group in July. Staff were friendly but the venue was cramped had to get up from seat when anyone from next table wanted to pass while l was eating my meal . Not really impressed with food l ordered a chicken dish which was supposed to be in a creamy sauce but l found it very dry .probably would not recommend this place .

We were on a three day beak in the Cardiff area and we discovered this wonderful restaurant on the Monday evening. We had a delicious meal which was tasty and very filling. The atmosphere was really lovely and the staff were friendly and attentive. We enjoyed ourselves so much we booked a table for the next evening. The restaurant is very popular and is often very busy so it's essential that you book in advance. It's good value for money and an all round enjoyable experience.

Hadn't been here for years before last night but it's always remained a family favourite. Lovely warm atmosphere, fabulous menu with great food at very reasonable prices considering the quality and generous portion. Great coffee too which is always important to me.

Absolutely delicious. Starters were very good, but the 2 pasta dishes we had blew us away, incredible flavours. Can't wait to go back. We had walk in, so only had a short time slot, really want to try the desserts.

Haven't been to this restaurant for several years but decided to pop in for lunch with a friend. We weren't disappointed. The food was delicious...I had pasta, my friend had pizza. We also both had Tiramisu which was one of the nicest I have ever had!!! There is also a 20% discount off all food during lunchtime which was an added bonus. Service was great too. I would definitely recommend this restaurant

We had an excellent evening meal at this family run Italian restaurant this evening. Very attentive service, excellent quality food and reasonable prices too. Would highly recommend a visit.

Busy place. Booked our table for 5.30pm on a Tuesday. Within 45mins, the place was heaving! Service was good at that time. Food was served hot. Point to note: though it didn't affect us, its definitely advisable to state how many buggies your party brings if you have children in that age band. They need to arrange tables to make space.

Excellent calzone’s great selection of pasta’s and Quick service

The back room has nothing to deaden the sound of people talking so it's extremely loud in there. You have to shout at the person next to you to be heard. The staff don't seem to communicate very well as we had all the staff coming to the table to take orders when one had already taken our order. The food was tasty but I won't go back because it was too loud.

My third time visiting Villaggio and each time I’ve been more blown away! The service is second to none, the staff are attentive and friendly and leave you wanting for nothing. The food is divine and has been better each time I’ve visited, and their drinks selection is fantastic. My favourite restaurant in Cardiff by far. Thanks again for another wonderful experience, you’re a fantastic team!

Me and my wife really enjoyed the food, my wife had pasta and I had pizza, both meals really nice, price very reasonable, plus we had a one year old boy making a little bit of a racket, but the staff was very friendly and understanding. Great family restaurant and will definitely be returning soon. 👌

Food was not “al dente” it was raw. The white penne pasta was still brown in colour from being undercooked. My pasta was cooked but my mothers wasn’t. There was a massive difference. But besides the undercooking, both had no flavour. Yes the pastas were taken off the bill because we didn’t eat them and sent them back twice…rightly so. Genuine shame.

It’s deservedly reputable and has a great place in Lakeside too. This place is loud and lively with quick and efficient service and excellent pizza and wine. I would suggest hiding the wizened stregona that stands and growls at arriving customers- there are better looks than this!

Was offered a table for 55 minutes then told they couldn't guarantee we would get our meal in that time as they were serving a large party. So we left. Have eaten at this restaurant for 35 years but no more.

Excellent meal at this well-known Italian restaurant in Whitchurch in Cardiff. Caprese salad fresh and plenty of mozzarella. Lasagne was extremely tasty. Calzone was huge and delicious. Not the cheapest Italian in Cardiff, but the food is top class. Gets exceedingly busy, so booking in advance is recommended. The seating is quite densely packed, and the open plan can make it quite noisy, so maybe not the place gor thar romantic meal for two, but if you are celebrating, the lively atmosphere and friendly service will make for an enjoyable evening.

Spent the evening here with daughter who is at university in Cardiff. Walked in on a wet Wednesday evening and the place was heaving ! And I can understand why! The food we both enjoyed was amazing! We had two courses and shared dessert. Was so impressed with the bill too ! Cannot recommend highly enough and hope to be returning soon.

I am a strong believer that judging the book (and the restaurant) by its cover it's an effective system. If you are walking around looking for a restaurant and you come across: a) a clean and well presented eatery, full of seemingly happy customers or b) a joint that looks like a former heroin den, where people inside are clearly more confident with money laundering rather than cuisine, which one would you choose? There are exceptions obviously, but not that many.Thankfully, Pizzeria Villaggio lives up to its promising appearance, revealing itself as a pleasant book with a good cover. The room is a nice place to be, maybe a bit noisy when very crowded. I always appreciate in an Italian restaurant a slightly subtle Italian theme in the decor, something modern without being tacky. The environment must transmit a sensation of comfort and familiarity, not the feeling that you are about to get mugged and stabbed in a Sicilian alley. One little quirk of mine and a life hack which you can thank me later for: don't trust places with a menu that is dirty OR contains spelling mistakes! If the menu is filthy AND full of grammar/translation errors, I strongly suggest you to run because you'll probably spend the next 3 days as a main character of a TV series called “Game of ceramic thrones” (if not slaughtered,chopped up and served to the next round of guests). I mean, if bro-the-restaurant-owner can't be bothered to do a bit of google translate, proofreading or wipe the document that is basically his business card, what can you expect in terms of compliance to HACCP regulations? Villaggio’s menu is nice, correct and solidly based on pizza and pasta. The host flirts a bit with some "britalian" and italian-american classics such as Alfredo, spag bol (existing everywhere in the word BUT Bologna), etc. but I don’t see anything wrong when the demand meets the offer and they “lived happily ever after…”. But let’s move to the money shot: we decided to respect the classics and we went for a combo bruschetta and pizza. I got the roasted pepper and goat cheese because I felt less “vanilla” than my friends who got the tomato and basil one. All very well executed, fast and as expected. The warm goat cheese combined with the red pepper is a love hug, the one you get from your Mum when you finally do something good at school. Minor suggestion: the bread should have been more toasted and crunchy but perfection, as that hairdresser that f*****d up your haircut irreparably can probably confirm, is not for this Word but for the afterlife in Heaven. I also ordered a “focaccia with balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil” as a side and I received what it looked more like an “honest bread with balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil”; it was a bit like going on a blind date expecting to meet Beyonce`and finding your college sweetheart you haven’t seen for 15 years. It was a good experience anyway, just different. On with the pizza. I won't annoy you to death with a nerdy explanation on the difference between roman and neapolitan styles, flours, dough, and proofing time. It’s like asking a man if he prefers breasts or buttocks, it's a debate without solution. It’s enough to say that it is a good pizza and you won’t be disappointed. It comes with a thick, quite bread-y rather than airy crust, probably a bit more gluten development would have helped the crunchiness. The sauce is spot on, perfect balance between acidity and sweetness, an Italian Sunday lunch flavour kind of situation. Toppings are nice and fresh and they don’t go too crazy with them which is a good thing; because with pizza “less is more” and you don’t need to chuck an entire aisle of a convenience shop on top to make it delicious. For the record we chose a Marinara (red pizza without mozzarella), Napolitana and Diavola. A few little touches I appreciated: you can have a carbonara with or without cream (which is the original way to make it) and a nice “affogato” as a dessert which is a shot or two of espresso on vanilla ice cream. And yes, for the people that love gory details “affogato” means “drowned”. The staff is super friendly and efficient and the waitress that helped us can uncork a bottle with military precision, no hesitations, straight to the point like a Prussian general. Should I say anything else? Well, if you need more details to be convinced to book a table right now, you are probably hopeless and you are better off to your local Subway/Greggs. Villaggio is good value for your money and, If you don't believe me, go ahead and try the place for yourself. Who knows, maybe you'll be the lucky one to find a dirty menu or a hair in your pizza, proving me wrong!

Proper Italian restaurant ( many are run by Albanians ) with good quality food. Quite busy on my mid week visit. A good sign. Noisy. Very attentive waiting staff , my cup of tea came rapidly. The soup was delicious. They got my pizza order wrong but it was replaced very quickly. A minor comment is I would like to see the pizza topping brought closer to the edge. I really liked it and will be back again. Reccomended

Very enjoyable experience here today for dinner. We went at about 12.30 (dinner in Wales) and we ordered two pizzas and a coke. Very very good service, friendly and efficient. The food was very nice and delicious. Definitely going back and maybe have some starters too! This place is brilliant for Whitchurch. Don't bother going to Dominos up the road, this place has proper pizza!

Went there with my gym friends and the food was lovely. I had tagliatelle with mushroom and prawns. It was really delicious and prawns were so tasty and fresh. Would recommend anyone going there. Some of us ordered Calzone and other pastas and pizza, too. They said it was delicious, too. It was busy in there as I think people were having their Christmas do. But it felt really nice and the staff were very good and cheerful. Would highly recommend this place.

I walked in for a takeaway pizza when it was really busy and they happily took my order. I was out of the door in about 10 minutes with my pizza and chips. The prosciutto pizza was amazing as always and the chips were hot...

Loved this little Italian restaurant so much! The starters were great, the calamari was really well cooked, perfectly fried. The salade caprese was also really good. The pizzas were wonderful, made just like you get in Italy. The crusts were perfect and there was just the right amount of topping. Delicious! Desserts were amazing, the lemon posset was simply delicious. The staff were great fun, really friendly and amiable. Highly recommend this place for a romantic dinner, or a reunion. Or any time you want great pizza!

Avoid at all costs!! I’m Italian and I can say that it’s not worth it. Food served cold, quality of the food very low. The pizza is very disappointing, tastes like frozen pizza. Don’t waste your money! Edit: we didn’t order, we had dinner in there. We got served cold food which is unacceptable
