While the staff are friendly, the reason the review is so low is due to the fact the menu doesn't indicate if a meal is vegetarian or not. Upon one of us ordering a mushroom bolognese pasta, on the dishes arrival we were shocked that it was a beef dish, with no mention of meat on the menu, we mentioned this to the waitress, when we asked if it were possible to swap the dish and we were met with a very quick and panicked you have to pay for it. Which would of been fine if it were our mistake, but with no mention of it in the menu anywhere (not even a note somewhere explaining their personal Bolognese is a meat sauce) and us mentioning that 2 of us were vegetarian when ordering and the waitress not calmly explaining it wouldn't be possible, we didn't feel like purchasing another dish. The friendlyness of the staff won't be enough for us to ever go back, especially as on top of this all the toasted bread tasted like partly cooked dough, and only 1 of 4 was fully happy about their meal.

First time here but will return. We loved the small statues and the Italian decor. Lovely place eventhough the dining is upstairs and I didn't see any access for those with mobility issues to get there so can not take my mam next time. Food was so nice, tasty and plentiful. Reasonably priced but drinks were cheap.

Staff were very welcoming. Food tasted good on the whole, although no fresh herbs on pasta / caprese (dried herbs sprinkled over the top of both). No atmosphere & a radio station provided the music. Have always visited this restaurant over the years, however I feel standards have dropped.

Verstopt tentje, maar waarom dat is geen idee. Pizza en pasta waren beide goed bereid en we hebben erg lekker gegeten.

Went today about 1PM. Stunning food. Fabulous menu. Super friendly staff. Very authentic Italian cuisine but with choices if you aren't a fan. Can't recommend this place enough. Brilliant time

Went on a Saturday afternoon and was very quiet. The food was excellent, the pizza in particular, the lasagne was tasty but I'd order a side with it if I went again. The wine was a tad on the expensive side, but you kind of expect that, overall, I'd say it was good value for money. The waiter was a character and a nice chap. The only negative was that it was coldish in there.

I was dissapointed with this place after hearing good reviews. The salad was poor with my mustard chicken and there was no de caff coffee or flat white.

Went as a party of 12 on Sunday evening. Service and food was fantastic, the staff were very helpful and food was served quickly, and all tasted fantastic! Will be back for sure!

My partner and I have been back to this Italian over and over and have never been disappointed. The service Is amazing the restaurant is roomy and not over crowded so you can relax and enjoy your conversation. The food is delicious and amazing portion sizes.

Really cannot fault this place. Booked for 16 of us and everyone loved their meals. Reasonably priced, plenty of choice, cooked fresh to order, excellent vegan options and staff were brilliant. Plus we didn’t have to wait too long considering there was so many of us and the food came out at the same time. I would post a photo but we all cleared our plates before I could take any photos! Highly recommend and will definitely be going back.

Amazing!! I'm vegan and they catered for me so well. All the food is freshly cooked. I had a mushroom risotto and it was amazing. Beautiful flavour. The food was piping hot, and we were a party of 16 people and every meal was hot. Definitely going back for more.

Been here 5 or 6 times now and never had a bad visit or a negative feeling. Food is always lovely and staff always polite and helpful.

Just been here on a first date and Chris who works here was amazing in making us feel comfortable and catered for. 10 out of 10! Great little place to treat yourself. Thanks guys x

Really tasty Italian food with fantastic atmosphere. Lots of choice on the menu for drinks and food, with vegetarian options available. Definitely recommend for an occasion or a nice meal out.

Arrived at 19.15, 3 of our mains finally came out at 21.20. .. My partners came out 20 mins later after getting the order wrong twice, 2nd time bringing out a meat dish when she can't eat meat for medical reasons. 3 tables also came in after us and got served their meals a good time before us, shambolic. Raised my issues with the waiting staff who agreed we had not had the best night and offered free desserts and drinks in fairness but we just wanted to leave by this point so I asked for our experience to be considered when preparing the bill. The bill came with no discount applied and when I questioned this with the owner he was extremely rude and aggressive, apparently waiting 2 hours for your main course is normal... Finally when I told him I was not paying for my partners meal he said it would have to come out of the waiters tips... I really hope this didn't happen as I do believe the place was understaffed for a Saturday night. Disgusting behaviour from mgmt. and the food was mediocre in comparison to other Italians I've been to, definetly avoid the scallops. Won't be going again!

Decent Italian fare, could do with some better wine though especially an Appassimento seeing as they are so popular right now. How about serving some beers from downstairs at the Tap seeing as they allow you to deliver pizza to their bar?

The food was very nice! Service was not professional and staff should be in black trousers & t shirts not grey sweatshirts!! I realise they are young the young lady was very pleasant. I ordered a dessert which took about 20 mins to come we had to ask where it was and the resturant was empty. I certainly think you need to look at these comments.

Great food - had 3 x starters. 3 x mains, 1 kids pasta & desserts. All the food was very fresh and well prepared and they were very accommodating. Kids portion was a good size and at £4 cheaper (and healthier) than McD's.

Food is excellent. Not cheap but reasonable value as everything we've ever had has been delicious. Service much improved recently.

We stumbled in hoping we could be seated and they found space for us even though they were fully booked, we sat on the terrace, now this is a smoking terrace but it did not affect our meal, we ordered starters and were quickly served with fantastic food, closely followed by mains which were spectacular, steak was a little overcooked but nice none the less, service was next to none and I would highly recommend visiting, I would book so that your indoors and they do lovely cocktails also.

Absolutely shocking 1st time we've ever visited here and will NEVER go back...service was shocking we got there at 7.30pm and were still waiting for our mains at 9.10pm so we got up and walked out...not one member of staff came to the table we had to keep calling them over to order drinks...we couldn't even speak to manager as he disappeared out the back 🤨🤨 I do NOT recommend this restaurant!!!!!

Me and my wife both love Italian food and Billa's didn't disappointed,we both had lasagne and really enjoyed it,the staff were really friendly and the service was quick,will definitely be back

Amazing experience. You get what you pay for and every meal was different, we had pizza, 2x pasta , tuna steak and rib eye. Everything came swiftly and well cooked. Was delicious and looking forward to going back to try something else. You don't get a professional family restaurant any where else in aberdare.

Excellent food Excellent service

Visited last Saturday. Food was awful, my Arrabbiata was so bitter tasting I couldn't eat it. Service was non existent, total chaos there! Lots of very young staff with no clue! Young girl who seems to be in charge had no control over the service. I had the worst espresso martini ever made and the bottle of water never arrived! I went home and made a sandwich. Absolute waste of money!

Amazing staff and great food! Went with friends and one of us forgot our wallet which they kept secured and tried contacting us next day to come and collect. So thankful of their service. Definitely will visit again.

Waiting staff are fantastic!! Scallops as starter was shockingly bad, was told the mains would make up for it yum yum. Mains... Rib eye steak with chips and salad, not very Italian but safe choice... Absolutely shocking. Frozen chips, salad made by an infant (no offence to infants) and a rib eye that lost the eye some time ago. Apparently the owner spent 25 years in Italy...

Very over priced. Paid £8 for scallops that were listed as fresh baked scallops seasoned with Italian herbs served with toasted bread. What was put in front of me was a pot of crumbled bread and seasoned with cheese with about 1 scallop chopped up in to small pieces. My main was adequate but the whole meal seemed to be overpriced. As you can probably tell, I was majorly disappointed about my scallops.

First class service, first class food

Ordered £32’s worth of takeaway, having then to be charged £36 on arrival. Food was mediocre, the lasagne was like rubber and the portion size was appalling. Garlic Pizza Bread looked like it came from a local Kebab shop. Not worth the money...

We have been eating at Bilal's even before his name appeared over the door. Sadly, due to Covid 19 restrictions, we have had to revert to a smaller, takeaway menu over the last 4 months but the quality, quantity and flavour have not changed one bit. We order regularly and the delivery guy is absolutely charming, always making me laugh. We, as a family cannot wait to dine at the restaurant again to enjoy the fresh seafood and pasta dishes we have been able to thoroughly enjoy since our trip to Lucca, Italy.

Not the best Italian food. The bill was a bit pricey. We visited when you could only sit out side due to Covid and the small balcony was overcrowded. Constantly had people brushing passed, including customers and staff. Not the best tasting food. Won’t be visiting again.

We were really looking forward to eating here but we’re bitterly disappointed. Calamari was chewy, everything was smothered in dried herbs like a bad restaurant from the 90’s. Duck was over cooked and chewy, served with frozen vegetables. The lasagne was bland, bolognese was overloaded with rock salt (inedible) and the pasta was soggy. Went to McDonald’s on the way home. Staff were lovely and very attentive, can’t fault them at all.

Excellent, speedy and friendly service. Varied , reasonably priced menu. Freshly cooked & exceptionally tasty food. We will definitely return.

We booked a table here on Saturday evening, when we arrived the outside seating area had been overbooked so we were sat inside the restaurant - this is currently not allowed under Wales' guidlelines, and to be honest I wish we had just walked out at that point, there ended up being 15 people seated inside. I genuinely felt so sorry for the 3 staff working there that evening, there was no manager in sight to help them serve customers both inside and outside, and they were running around like headless chickens receiving multiple complaints from every table inside about slow service, order mix ups etc - they clearly had no table plan for inside (since we were seated last minute) and as a result the wrong food was given to the wrong tables. One couple got up and left before their food was served. We waited 45 minutes for our drinks, which arrived after our starters. Again, I want to stress that I do not blame the three staff at all, the blame lies fully with the non-existent management who overbooked the restaurant and left them to deal with the mess. My partner ordered a calzone, and when this was served it was completely raw on the inside, he sent it back and asked for carbonara instead as this was quicker to cook. The food overall did not live up to the standards of the previous owner. Finally, when it came to paying the bill, the calzone was still on it, when the staff had said they would remove it for us. My partner went to the bar so this could be corrected, and the owner spoke to the staff member who was re-doing the bill, he told her to charge us for the carbonara that was a replacement for the raw calzone - some people may disagree, but I believe that if you are served RAW food at a restaurant or take away etc, then that meal should be replaced free of charge! In total we wasted £59 on a subpar meal. I am thoroughly disappointed in Billa's, it has clearly gone down hill since the change of ownership, and I shall not be eating here again and will tell others to steer clear. It's such a shame as Aberdare itself has so few restaurants open.

Just had an amazing takeaway, and fast delivery on bank holiday!

We ordered a take away to have something to look forward to during the lock down. For £2-50 they delivered it to the door and, because we spent over £20 we had a free pizza. The food was outstanding. I'd like to order this every day but if I did, I would not be able to fit through the front door once lock down is over. The place is now called Billa's, as probably everyone now realises. Whatever, a superb meal all round with no downside.

Took my family here last night 16 of us not seen each other for 15yrs , food was amazing, staff were brilliant. Would recommend this place to everyone fab,fab,fab thank you for a great experience we came all the eay from Adelaide Australia, best restaurant we have been to in a while

Excellent meals for a party of over 30 people. Meals were pre-ordered...all different and all served piping hot. Great variety on menu, including vegetarian, seafood, chicken and the usual pasta dishes of lasagne etc. Good choice of starters too, and desserts. Plus the side order of sweet potato chips were awesome!

Food was delicious. Lovely surroundings, it would be nice to have some background music though to add to the ambience otherwise it's just the deafening silence of other customers conversation, but that's just my opinion. Francais: Agréablement surpris de la cuisine. Très bien pour un italien. Comparaison faite avec pas mal de restaurant en France, Italie... Etc. Les pizzas sont bonnes. La pâtes est agréable et fine. Les plats sont bien présentés. C'est copieux. Quantité suffisante. Le service est également à la hauteur. Même si un peu long... Je recommande.

I sat there one day, with my lovely wife, sun going down on a beautiful summer evening, plate of lobster ravioli and a class of chianti and just thought to myself. Life just doesn't get much better.

Ordered a takeaway to collect. Very friendly on the phone and collection. Very helpful couldn't have gone out of his way more and the food was delicious. Definitely recommend.
