The service was amazingly fast. Just moments after ordering the starters arrived. And the restaurant was busy. So this was a very pleasant surprise. The quality of food is excellent. Highly recommend this lovely Italian restaurant in the heart of Talbot Green.

Reservation messed around online without telephone calls. Called twice to rearrange this and clarify bottomless brunch still possible- to which was reassured yes. Attended the restaurant to be told bottomless brunch wasn’t possible and that the restaurant was actually closing in 30 minutes. It was then clarified by another staff member that the kitchen stays open until everyone is finished- all very confusing. One member of staff was helpful in suggesting we still have the bottomless brunch but would need to move over to the deli to complete this. We declined at this point and stuck with regular lunch menu but appreciated the offer. Waitress was friendly despite all the confusion and food was fairly tasty with big portions despite Parmesan being launched into my lap. We were rushed to pay the bill and when leaving we saw another couple having issues understanding timings of their reservation and restaurant. This definitely needs clarifying as it disrupted the vibe and felt rushed and confused- booking should not be taken so close to closing if reservations cannot be completed to high standard.

Beautiful food,warm design, quick and friendly service.

It's tragic, really. This used to have some interesting dishes, but it seems it's pasta with the same tomatoes or creamy sauce with different meat thrown in, and frankly, I have had better cooked at home. The menu is as boring as it gets, and they no longer do anything different from a ZIZI. Over COVID, you could get a green pesto dish, risotto; now, it's basic pasta and pizza. My son's carbonara was ghastly and full of choking hot black pepper. Why, why, why? My meal could have been from Mark's ready-meal collection for £5, but I spent £16 on it. The Bolognaise was okay, but all the pasta was overcooked and slimy for everyone!

It's a shame to give a poor service rating on this one. Our waiter who seated us was lovely but when management took our order it was noticeable how rude and dismissive he was in comparison to the staff that work there. Didn't want to take the time to explain menu or give recommendations. Based on how rude he was I will not be returning

I’m extremely Disappointed with a meal I had last Night from Trattoria. I had Penne Con Pollo, it came out really fast..No Taste to it what so ever. Looked like they had pre boiled pasta, chucked some already cooked chicken in and fried mushrooms for a bit and added some cream. I could’ve made better at home. My Mums seafood pasta was watery. Which explained to me why it came out so fast. It was extremely busy in there and food was coming out fast, they are just making a quick buck out of tasteless and not loved food, chefs kept wandering around instead of being in the kitchen which explained it all!! We had 2 glasses of wine and garlic Bread….£50. I feel Robbed, disappointed and will Never Be returning. A shame as Cicchetti In Radyr has lovely food and I have been going there for years.

Very nice food not cheap but worth the extra cost

A very pleasant dining experience on a busy Saturday evening. We were booked in at short notice but advised that our table would only be available for 90 minutes which was fine. Food quality and service were very good and prices reasonable.

Went to a baby shower in the gin bar upstairs yesterday. The hot buffet was outstanding, plenty of choice, pizzas, pastas, chips, garlic bread, cheesy garlic bread and more. Great value for money and a fabulous venue! Zero % gin was great too for those driving !

Popped in and had a set meal for £20. Good value for a starter, main and a drink (Prosecco/bottle of lager) Overall found it suitable for the price paid; maybe wouldn’t have been as pleased if paid normal, full price for the Lasagne as it was quite a small portion and not very hot in the middle. The deal made it fine. Would probably go back 👍

Good place nice food good service. Looses a star as not family friendly and no kids options for main menu evening meal discouraging families. Half portions would of been enough but paying full price for adult portions for children who wouldn't eat it all is off putting

Not a great experience, took my parents out for meal to celebrate 79 birthday, 8 people in total. Arrived 1pm on Saturday 20 January the restaurant was cold, so cold we ate our meal with our jackets on. Food was average and the mains came straight after the starters giving no time for food to digest. I noticed the kitchen was closed with lights off by 2.30pm. If you’re not prepared to open properly to serve customers in a comfortable environment then don’t bother opening !!! Disappointing experience having heard so many good things about the owner who was no where to be seen. ! Reading other reviews there is definitely a trend, turn the heating on and don’t rush the food !!

Arrived shown to a table immediately offered drinks followed by asking if we were ready to order. My dish was chicken parmagiana. My husband ordered pasta. Literally two minutes after we ordered our food arrived. Mine was awful it was a bit of passata sauce with three bits of chicken on the top with the smallest bit of melted but hard cheese. I asked the waiter ( the tall thin chap) what was it meant to be he couldn’t tell me!!!!!! He said not good? I said no not good at all. All I ate was the carrots and broccoli. He never came back never offered a replacement. Not impressed at all. We’ve been gojng there for a number of years but won’t be going back. £68 for a rubbish cold bit of tomato paste on a plate!!!!!

Was very busy but the staff were plenty and so polite and helpful I'm Gf and they were great in helping me choose and tweaking it to fit me. Loved it 😁

I would not recommend this place. A very cold, aloof ,arrogant and unwelcoming reception from what I assume was the head waiter. Very skinny bloke who should never work in customer service. The young staff who took the orders and served the food were very good though. Unfortunately they seem to want you out of the place before you even get started. Had the Arancini, Rice balls stuffed with beef ragu for starters. It was warmish, tasted Ok but NO sign of any beef! Would be Ok for vegetarians. Had the rump steak and vegetables for main course. Quite chewy steak and just a few vegetables. Nothing to write home about. Nothing. I had the misfortune of meeting a very miserable head chef when I visited the toilet. Again another one who should never work in customer service. Everything is really rushed. It operates more like a factory canteen not a restaurant. They need to get the headchef and the head waiter out of the place and rethink about what customers want. They are resting on their laurels. The rushed experience was overpriced and low quality with appaling manners from senior staff.

Food was lovely. But it was minimal. I get that bums on seats mean more money, the service was fast but as soon as your meal ended they wanted you out. Not a nice feeling at all, hence me saying bums on seats. Was in Talbot Green for a family wedding but l cant say this was a pleasureable experience, my party and l were made to feel very uncomfortable.

Amazing venue food was amazing so fresh. The pink orchid wine was bursting with flavours one of the best rosé I’ve had. Meatballs were nice nothing spectacular but still good. Bruschetta was lovely plenty of tomatoes. Calamari again was nice nothing spectacular. For the mains. The mafaldine con stinco Di mango was amazing the ragú was so tender the sauce was very flavoursome! The ravioli al salmone. Very well presented I only felt like there wasn’t enough there. But what was there was very good and could tell it was made with great care. The tagliatelle n’duja e salisicca was disappointing not much flavour and not great deal of n’duja in the dish. The service was great couldn’t fault it. I felt the waiters/waitress seemed to be rushed to get food out and to clear the tables which made us feel rushed ourselves sadly. Overall great place to go to eat.

Lovely authentic Italian restaurant with great atmosphere. Very busy, food was delicious and service was friendly & attentive. The main meals were served with bowls of chips to share, but no other vegetables, which would have been welcome. They'd split a large group of us for a Christmas party across 2 tables which wasn't ideal but we made the best of it & had a great night. Nice family friendly venue.

The waiter was rude to us. He slung the food at my mother and the tomato came off the brushetta and landed on the table. Although the lasagne was delicious, the portion for the money was very mean. I lunched there Monday 4th December. I won't be going back!

Probably typical of a bistro type eatery, nice decor and cosy environment giving it an attractive feel. The service is vey quick and the web booking makes it clear that you have the table for only 1:30hr, however there is an adjoining bar that you could continue with coffee or drinks if necessary. The food was tasty but don't expect large portions, my salmon and mash would have looked better with some fresh veg. Chips or salad are available as an extra. Puds looked very nice. A sit down meal anywhere is not cheap these days, and if you have more than one course and a few drinks its quite a sum. However, I would return and try the lunch deal!

It was Beaujolais Day. 8 of us booked to go at 12noon on 16Nov. It was beautifully presented . The 2 course meal was really superb with the wine. After that there was music which got our feet tapping. All of us danced till 6pm.

Ate here early Saturday evening again and for the third visit in the last few months the food was fabulous. Service was quick, efficient and seemed effortless. Nothing to disappoint at all. I highly recommend a visit.

My favourite place to eat when in the area for work. Food is delivered fast however service can vary. Often I am dining solo, and have experienced long wait times for the bill or drinks not arriving. However, I will always go back for the food.

Chiara was fantastic with the service everytime we come here she is so kind and polite and i love how professional she is. her service is quick, always serving with a smile and everything is done to effortless perfection with her, shes a natural. and shes walks around the table to avoid hot drinks and food with my baby, very rare you get that from table service. Couldnt ask for more. Excellent experience. And I've been here more than one. And will be coming back again. If you go to order food ask for Chiara to serve you as you cant go wrong. Very good Italian food, I have enjoyed both the pizza and the pasta dishes at Trattoria and would certainly recommend to people.

Delicious food and fantastic service in a well decorated/designed restaurant.

Now the wife and I just wanted a night out and a bite to eat and looking for a small italian that was not one of the usual chains we came across La Trattoria in Talbot Green. We would usually travel into the Cardiff but wanted to stay local and thought that this looked ideal. It is a small restaurant in the main street of Talbot Green with well spaced tables and on this night not too busy. One of the biggest issues with Restaurants I find are the "Lets cram them in" attitude where you are almost eating the next tables food and where you may as well all be sitting on a long bench like dinners at HOGWARTS...... The restaurant was well decorated in a traditional theme with lovely low level Italian musing playing in the background but low enough that you could actually have a conversation with each other. The food was a great selection and of a very high quality and very pleasant. Though the Anti Pasta for starter for one was a really a rather small affair for £ 8.50 and also with no olives at all and it could have done with a small bowl to allow us to have some Olive oil and balsamic to dip the bread in. I am being picky here as this was probably the only let down of the night as the other courses were an average portion size and very flavoursome. The meal itself for the two of us in terms of cost was I think very reasonable and well worth the money and is even enough to make this a somewhat regular occurrance which unfortunately some restaurants in Cardiff like to charge enough to make it a once or twice a year treat. The staff was attentive and checked if every thing was ok at every course and were never intrusive and at no time did we ever feel rushed. The menu states that all pizzas and Pasta dishes could be made GLUTEN FREE which is a bonus for my Ceoliac daughter who is now looking forward to visiting with us next time we come here. So all in all a great choice for a lovely meal out and also a bonus to not have to drive into the smoke to enjoy fine fair and a cosy night out. So if you are looking for that cosy night out or a meal with friends it may be a restaurant to place on your short list as I for one will be making a return visit really soon with the family.

You cannot beat sitting out in the fresh air eating lovely food

Called in for lunch with my wife recently and had great service and fantastic food which was great value for money too. We’ve been a few times before and the experience is consistent. Excellent!!

Too busy, expensive, mostly Italian food

We booked well in advance in the hope of a good table, sadly we were disappointed. We were sat at the rear of the restaurant near the kitchen and next to a "BirthdayParty" with numerous children. The food was good but the service poor we felt rushed and neglected. If you are looking for a quick Italian meal then this is the place if you want atmosphere and ambiance I believe there are better options.

Went for a Saturday lunch before shopping. Was ok, lasagne cold then reheated, ok after.

Authentic Italian run by Italians who know great Italian food. Absolutely stunning food. Very well organised as the dishes hit the table quickly. We were a group of 10, all had a 3 course meal and had finished desert 1 hr after arriving. After dinner we hit the bar upstairs. Great drinks served be highly trained staff, surrounded by amazing artwork. Highly recommended!

What a joy of a restaurant. Great atmosphere, the surroundings are tasteful, fun and beautifully Italian. Welcoming staff. Sublime but hearty food and a great wine list. Particularly liked that Nero d’avola is the reasonably priced house red. My only slight regret is that the food came so quickly. Two courses decided, ordered, delivered, eaten and paid for in less than 50 minutes. Definitely recommend.

My experiences here have only ever been really good. First time dining in with a group of work associates the service, the food, all high quality. I like the fact the restaurant offers good solid Italian favourites. The food is all prepared fresh, the service is quick but somehow unhurried. The wine and atmosphere all very good. I ordered take away this evening. They accommodated our requests. The food was ready to collect on time, piping hot and superbly prepared. Sitting and eating restaurant quality food at home without lifting a finger. You can't beat it. The meal for two came to less than a domino's! What is not to love. My partner was over the moon with her food and she is a picky eater. I really like this place and would happily recommend and return.

I feel the owner should have stepped in to ask they to be more considerate of other customers as they were so loud and swearing constantly that I was not able to communicate with my family. We could only talk to the person next to us and then we also had to shout to be heard. we also had my 10 year old and 6 year old neice with us and they had to sit there and liten to these adults in the 50-60's swearing like they were children. I'm sure they were disturbing other guests also. Unfortunatley due to this would not vist this establishment again. The meal for 7 cost 131 pound and we didnt even have starter or desert because we just wanted to leave becuse of the party of 10. So I feel this was not money well spent either. Left myself and my sister very upset as she planned this and now feels that my 40th was ruined. Next time please be mindful of all your guests and its not worth upsetting mutiple bookings just to not upset one party of 10 even if they are regulars.

The whole experience felt very rushed, very little time given to read the menu. Waitress said she might have mixed up our different glasses of red wine before putting them on the table. Starters came within minutes of ordering and the main course quickly followed the with almost no time in between courses. The prawn linguini had some shell partially left on and was very spicy but needed more salt. The overall feeling was that the staff wanted us out as quickly as possible which was disappointing.

Called in to have a drink on a Saturday afternoon. Had to ask for a menu as was ignored. Once they bought drink they brought receipt which I understand but then hovered with the card machine. Very rude and abrupt and it appears we were there on a moving day as furniture was being moved in and out. Not a nice experience and would not recommend. The staff need to have some serious training around manners and customer service.

Really disappointed, felt uncomfortable by miserable waiter, very expensive for poor food, over cooked steak, cold, uncooked big lumps of carrots & broccoli in a bowl of water which ended up on our plates. Sloppy tasteless mushroom, really gutted as it was a treat for my sons 16th birthday. Told waiter we were disappointed, but was told lots of people said the same thing, we were in & out in 40 minutes, went to McDonalds on way home, gutted! 🙁

Enjoyed our meal but felt very rushed. Our table was booked for 7pm on a Thursday but from about 9pm we felt under pressure to leave. The music was turned off and a few of the lights. It was obvious the staff wanted to go home. I've always had good meals here but after last night I won't be in a rush to go back.

We really enjoyed the food, both starters and mains. The standard of attention and service was impressive. If I can make one small comment. Why serve my prawn linguini mostly but not completely off the shell?

Never visited here before only the one in Pontypridd, the food was just as nice, although I preferred the atmosphere and setting in Talbot Green

We have had several experiences with the abrupt, rude nature of the older male waiter. Hope he reads these comments and goes on a good manners course. The food is always tasty and the other staff are lovely.

An excellent restaurant that does not live up to its usual standard. We were greeted by the manager almost as if we were disturbing him, this followed through our visit with his service, it was appalling and came across as very rude! The waiting staff however were very pleasant and hard-working. We ordered Arancini, Bread, a pizza and carbonara. The beef ragu arancini were bland and mushy inside, one ball had cheese inside the other didn't but also it just tasted like corned beef hash, with no risotto in sight! The bread was dry and stale as if it had been cut at the start of service and left out. The sausage pizza was tasty, the fennel sausage and spicy sausage although sparing were very flavoursome. The carbonara had plenty of texture and a rich creamy sauce, we added chicken to it and again the little chicken we had was very tasty. Overall the food was good but not great but the rudeness of the manager almost spoilt the whole experience. With 2 glasses of wine it cane to £50 which is steep compared to other venues. Food Quality = ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Value for money = ⭐⭐⭐ Overall experience = ⭐⭐⭐

My friend and I booked for lunch,( 1.30pm). Our male server was surly and unwelcoming. Our meal order was taken without a smile. The food was very tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We were then asked if we would like desserts or coffee, to which we declined. The bill was then very quickly given to us and a minute or two later our server returned with the card machine. When I asked him to come back in a few minutes as we hadn't finished our drinks, he very abruptly and rudely told us ' we are closed', and then marched away! We paid and left about ten minutes later. Customer Service training is urgently required at this restaurant!!

I’ve been here before and I had a wonderful meal, I expected the same for the takeaway considering the price and was really dissapointed. £14 (discounted from £17!!) for 5 pieces of ravioli (with one cherry tomato added on top) and £7 for two small arrancini. They were tasty but couldn’t believe portion size for that price. I was still hungry after, never a good sign! I will 100% be going to the restaurant and not having a takeaway again, I think you should really re-consider your portion sizes in future for takeaway as this was a real shame.

The staff are friendly and the ambiance allows you to dress up for occasion or pop on some jeans and a t-shirt My professional opinion: You get the Italian service you come to expect, professional, respectful and dudiligant. I can't commend the young men and women The food for its price is not extraordinary you certainly pay for the service and atmosphere. For myself and any other average Joe this food is not terrible it certainly can offer some comfortable and safe eating. However for those looking to go out to eat there is nothing exciting to offer. Gordon Ramsey would not close it down nor would he come back.

Myself and my husband have been here a couple of times recently and cannot fault anything at all. The service is fantastic, food is delicious and the overall experience is great. The restaurant itself is intimate and welcoming. We came for a meal for valentines...

Food nicely presented but was not hot, sent one main pasts dish back to be exchanged due to it being only just warm. Back of restaurant was cold, no heating on and staff at the back with door open who were smoking. Disappointed.

Foir good but Very poor service, everything was all too much for the staff. Cold inside, when asked to put heating on they said they couldnt 😡

Started was rushed, come around 1 minute after ordering seemed like it has been sat there for ages and was cold. £8 for three tiny meatballs too. Chicken was dry in the pasta. Overpriced! But the gin bar upstairs was nice.

9 work colleagues celebrating a 65th birthday . 2 had to leave early but the staff refused to let them pay their share of the bill stating it had to be paid in full at the end. Money had to be transferred to a member...

Can't wait to visit again. The server recommended the Burrata to me and I'm so glad she did as it was beautiful !! The veal main was stunning too however very filling portion. Sad there was no Tiramisu on the menu !! Please reinstate this dessert and we will be back !

Service without a smile! Completely rushed us through our meal...hardly had time to read the menu, main course came 2 seconds after starter. Wine plonked on table not even poured for us. Staff couldn't wait for us to go so they could finish, which is fair enough but why let us book at 1.30 if they are going to rush it through? Food ok, not bad but not great.

We were staying nearby and had walked into the nearest town looking for a restaurant. This was just perfect. Because we hadn’t booked, they could only give us a table for an hour and 20 mins but that was fine. We all had delicious meals...

After two very long days away from home, I was recommended this gem of a restaurant by the Premier Inn receptionist's. They were so right with their recommendation. Wonderful staff, beautiful food, I just wish my wife could have been here to enjoy it too....
