From inside the place is nice, old walls, small spaces and cute decorations. The menu is very large, maybe too much, which may hinder the quality of the food. You end up paying a fairly high price for a food that is average. The distance from the bathroom is minimal, you end up hearing people's actions while eating... I do not recommend

I cannot stress this enough: put down whatever it is you are doing now and get on the phone to book a table here. You will not regret it. You are seated in a flat in a front room which serves as a dining room, with three tables and what looks like a dozen covers, top. The food comes on a set tasting menu and is frankly off the charts - it's that good. Sardinia being an island obviously means that the food will be *of the sea* and it doesn't disappoint for a second. Luisa's ability in the kitchen is a marvel to behold. Everything that came out was fantastic. In fact the starters were so good we didn't have time (or the inclination) to photograph them. Stars of the show: pasta and prawns, the sardines (oh the sardines!!), cod cheek wrapped in prosciutto, and the potato and prawn, but really you could have chosen anything. It's fine dining without the excesses: you'll not get dry ice, laser beams and spotlights here, But what you will get is sensationally well-prepared food by a chef who is at the top of her game. Oh yes. Bring your own wine!

Bittersweet is glorious. Absolutely exquisite cocktails, delicious small plates of Italian food and detailed and attentive service. The venue is beautiful and the staff were passionate and expressive in their shared mission to ensure we had a wonderful time and experienced a sensory explosion of flavour in everything we drank and ate. Visiting from London I was pleasantly shocked that the bill was so reasonable for such a feast in flavour. I honestly can’t think of a meal I’ve enjoyed more and am already looking forward to returning when back in Edinburgh for the festival. Leith has a new jewel in its culinary crown and it’s Bittersweet.

On cold and very wet December days, this cafe was a great place to warm up. I suspect it would be a great 'slice of Italy' at any time of the year. Excellent hot and tasty panini, homemade scones and hot coffee...very welcome and much needed. Great attentive and friendly staff. We will ready return (and have) to this great cafe. For us, a bonus is that it is nowhere near the city centre.

This restaurant has a lovely cosy, authentic, Italian feel with reasonably priced classics on the menu. The pizza that I ordered was delicious and fantastic value. The service was efficient and friendly too without being overbearing and I will definitely be returning next time. I am in Edinburgh!

Trovato per caso, ma molto soddisfatto. Ottima pizza preparata con ingredienti di qualità ad un prezzo molto contenuto per Edimburgo. Lo consiglio a chiunque voglia mangiare una vera pizza napoletana.

My wife and I love authentic Italian cusine and we just happened to stumble on this little gem when we were walking to the Holyrood castle. We were blown away by the quality of the fresh Italian sandwiches, arancinis and desserts from this little shop. And the Italian staff were super friendly and attentive. If you’re looking for delicious, fresh, authentic and reasonably priced Italian - make sure to drop in.

In seven days I spent in Edimburg, five nights I went in Vapiano, to eat Pasta, home made. Very, very good. I'm italian and, believe me, it was so good that it seemed to be in Italy. Don't lose this place when you'll be in Edimburg.

Received this recommendation from a local. It was delicious! Loved what we ordered and the choice of mash was brilliant. Don't miss dessert. Alex and Teri were great, attentive, and personable. We've been traveling now five days, and this has been our best meal!

This is by far one of the nicest lunch, brunch Italian food takeway places in Edinburgh. Everything is baked and made fresh in the shop. From delicious cakes and pastries to amazing sandwiches. They also serve accoasionally some lunch meals to go -salads, gnioki, risotto etc. Great coffee too. It is a takeaway coffee shop. Be aware! No sit in. But the food is one of the best in the area. LOVE IT
