Bittersweet Leith in Edinburgh, City of

Bittersweet is glorious. Absolutely exquisite cocktails, delicious small plates of Italian food and detailed and attentive service. The venue is beautiful and the staff were passionate and expressive in their shared mission to ensure we had a wonderful time and experienced a sensory explosion of flavour in everything we drank and ate. Visiting from London I was pleasantly shocked that the bill was so reasonable for such a feast in flavour. I honestly can’t think of a meal I’ve enjoyed more and am already looking forward to returning when back in Edinburgh for the festival. Leith has a new jewel in its culinary crown and it’s Bittersweet.

Went with my partner and daughter for lunch on Hogmanay and it was just very enjoyable food with great enthusiastic and knowledgeable service. We had a variety of 5 dishes and one of the mixed platters which was perfect for 3 people and the waiter tempted us to try one of their Sicilian desserts to share that were just out the oven with a couple of the best velvety expresso martinis me and my daughter have had in a long time. Sorry can’t remember the name of the desssert/pastry but I do remember it takes 4 days to make and was a delicious end to the lunch with the expresso martinis.

A wonderful evening. The team are so helpful and the service is amazing. We enjoyed such a lovely meal. Calamari was so tender and tuna best I have ever had. Aubergine delicious and everything so tasty. Try it - you won’t regret it!

Just moved to the area and came across bittersweet and so glad we did. The cocktails were amazing. We opted for 2 classics, a negroni and a martini. Both served beautifully and tasted amazing. Ended up having some lit bites too. Both food and drinks were exceptional and the service was just as good.

Been here a few times now, it’s amazing. Food is excellent, staff are friendly, helpful and treat you as part of the family. A great little find. Just love this place

Highly recommend this restaurant its or third tome visiting here, food and wine are both excellent as is the staff. So welcoming great service and spotless will definitely be coming back

Great find in Leith ! Just happened upon this place on a girls day out - was so fantastic we brought the guys back a few nights later . Sat at the bar and enjoyed visiting with the staff and watched the bartender work his magic with all the drinks ! Menu offered a lot of choices - both food and drinks were excellent. Highly recommend

Had thoroughly pleasant evening at this hidden gem. Fabulous food and exceptional service. It’s even next to a bus stop (no 36) !! Will definitely be visiting again and would recommend.

Stumbled upon this a week ago with my wife and we were so impressed that we had to go back. The food is amazing, so fresh and authentic albeit don't expect to be full. Great selection of drinks, especially the cocktails and Petra sorted us out - great service. Atmosphere was really pleasant and just a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
