The best restaurants serving Italian food in Argyll & Bute Central Scotland

We ordered 2 takeaway pizzas while staying on Iona and they were soooo good!! I actually can't write this without wanting another one (shame I'm back home). I would definitely recommend Ailidh's if you're staying on Iona and don't want to cook - why would you, with this on your doorstep?! I was going to take a photo of the pizza but I was too preoccupied eating it 🤣

Had a fantastic dinner last night 03/04/25. Great location Loch side, charming decor, lovely attentive staff. We had just a main course each, and both ordered the Tequila Mussels, these mains were very generous portions, and were delicious and the best mussel dish we've both had, the accompaniments were all lovely too. They do takeaway as well. Can't wait to go back again and try out the rest of the menu, we'd highly recommended this Bistro.

We celebrated my wife's birthday here, and it was a fantastic experience. The food was absolutely delicious - the steak was the best I've had in ages. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and the cocktails were excellent. We’d happily return and might even consider staying at the hotel next time!

The restaurant is small (around 20 seats) and the decor is dated but it’s impeccable in its cleanliness and the menu has a nice choice and pretty standard restaurant prices. We went as a family and had a lovely meal, the service was great and the food was exactly what I expect of an Italian. Good quality ingredients cooked well. We would absolutely go again and happily recommend it to others.

We came to have a dinner and instead of greetings and normal social interaction upon our arrival were met with hostility and rudeness from the waiter. When we were leaving one of the chefs flipped us off. I never experienced this kind of attitude towards customers anywhere in the world.

Pizza was very good and reasonably priced. Can't ask for much more. Full service bar/wine service. Lots of varieties of toppings: pineapple, pepperoni, peppers, even haggis I think! Much better food than the hotel.

Sorry to say this restaurant is disappointing. The food is over priced and the quality of the food in my experience was below par. Unfortunately, most of the food seems to have been cooked straight from frozen, hence the watery mushroom starter. It's a pity the standard of food is not good, as the restaurant itself is inviting and charming. Some clever menu changes, demonstrating the quality of food equals value for money prices. Also, food choices on how to meet the needs of locals and tourists alike would likely bring in new and regular custom. Such as weekly specials... Pizza night etc. To be perfectly honest the Italian theme doesn't match the food delivered in other Italian restaurants, yet its food prices are high and out of reach for much of the community. It would be lovely to visit and recommend to others if the changes recommended were put in place.

Serves great kebabs, also does some great fortune telling if you pop in at approx 7pm on the 15th Wednesday of the year. We got our fortune told by a lovely woman (who was also purchasing a Donner Kebab).

Great place in Helensburgh for pizza and Italian food. Wheelchair accessible. Friendly staff. Reasonable prices. Picturesque spot on the seafront. Some tables have views across the River Clyde towards Greenock.

This cafe is DEFINITELY OPEN ( today is March 8th 2025). The location is beautiful, the setting spotlessly clean and the food excellent. Highly recommend the full breakfast. Welcoming staff, good selection, particularly so early on in the season. We note the phone number is incorrect and have pointed this out to the NEW OWNERS. Wishing them great success with this new venture, we will be back.

Fantastic food, great views , the garlic bread and chicken to start was great and the main courses were just right. Nice views of the harbour too. Highly recommend

I first of all want to say I did not stay at this hotel but I had the miss fortune of eating here. When we came into the hotel we asked at the bar can we take a table which was fine however no one came to take our order so I had to go to the bar I decided I only wanted the light bites off the menu my husband wanted fish and chips. I was then told no they stop serving that at 5pm no mention of this on the menu then I asked for the baked potato and was told no we don’t do that either. The table behind us asked for light bits as well and was refused. So I agreed to have fish and chips also. The girl made me pay at the bar prior to the meal. They then proceeded to come and give all the other clients table service and they did not need to pay in advance. The fish was very greasy the chips were ok. However we were not given as much as a knife and fork or napkin I had to go looking for it. Worst place I have been for a while in Dunoon. Only reason I went was because it was recommended by my Waitrose delivery man.

Things missing from order, pizza under cooked, ignored by staff to correct order. Flat cola from the gun. Dirty sticky tables. Dirty toilets. £20 burger had Stale burger bun. Rude attitude. All round avoid if posssible

We both enjoyed our lunch of baked potato and lentil soup and cheese toastie at Humbles and managed to sit outside and enjoy the midday sunshine in Helensburgh.
