Cù Mara Bistro & Takeaway in Argyll & Bute

Oh my. What a treasure we stumbled upon. Absolutely, we had the most delicious food here, yet from the first moment of genuine, kind, friendly staff and beautiful decor it was a highly memorable event. Staying at the hotel next door, we popped in without a booking and were quickly and kindly found a table. I definitely recommend booking as it would be a travesty to miss this! Faced with the (we are so very blessed even to be able to travel and eat out) first world difficulty of choosing from the extensive and drool worthy menu we settled on sharing the Goats Cheese Salad and the Hot Hen Pizza. With a glass of white. Of course. I have often shared food but have never before not wanted to even try the second dish until my taste buds had finished dancing from the delights of my half of the first. Salad? Food from the menu of heaven’s own banqueting table more like! My only other comparable salad was from a bistro in California. I think this one even topped that. Go on, order this next time! With a fine line drawn down the middle of the bowl, each strawberry and blueberry divided equally, the deep fried goats cheese with its cloak of chutney carefully cut in 2, I realised my half of the dish was now empty, so mournfully swapped dishes with my partner. I usually let him have the lions share as I’m more bijou in size. Not for that salad. Goodness, I don’t think so! Fortunately the pizza was no less thrilling. Such a wonderful place, worth a trip to Arrochar any day. I will for sure return. 20/10. Yum.

As always a fabulous evening. Great ambience, wonderful decor, tasty well cooked food accompanied with a lovely bottle of wine. Derek and his team have got this and are on top of their game.

Stopped in by just hoping for a coffee, but the menu looked so good decided to have lunch too. Pastrami Bagel was delicious. If only all sandwiches were this good! Please stop here and support this wee gem. If the rest of the menu is as good as their sandwiches it'll be great!

The Cu Mara is a wonderful little restaurant. The team is young and very authentic, very helpful and friendly. The food is all freshly prepared and the local cuisine like fish and fries but also the pizza and burger are excellent here. A visit is highly recommended.

Was spending a few days in Arrochar and booked ahead, so glad I did as it was very busy. Amazing in such a small village to find a place that suited our dietary requirements so well (1 vegan, 1 fish/meat lover) with a lovely menu. Food and drinks were all fantastic - service a little haphazard which didn't impact on our enjoyment but it was a shame to see the young man working so hard doing everything while the young lady (possibly new) just stood round eating and determinedly not catching customers eyes.

I don’t think I’ve ever reviewed a place while I’ve still been in but I’m so impressed with it that it had to be done. It has such a lovely ambiance and great views to the loch and hills. Service is excellent from the young staff. We had cocktails and an IPA which were top notch. The food is sublime. It’s mostly pizza, burgers and hotdogs but my god, they’re amazing. I didn’t want my meal to end. Good choice for veggie/vegans as my partners beetroot and quinoa burger proved. My scottie hottie with black pudding and haggis was scrumptious. This place is an absolute must if you’re in the area.

Wow! Excellent food, very pleasant service. The goat cheese salad is superb! Make sure you book in advance, everybody wants to eat here.

We were very fortunate to book the whole venue for a special birthday lunch celebration to include many family and friends. Derek and his wonderful team created a very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere for us all to enjoy. The extensive menu suited all needs and the food was cooked to perfection. All the guests commented on the delicious food and the quality of the drinks. All the staff were amazing to serve 28 people all at one sitting. Everyone is looking forward to returning again soon. A truly wonderful birthday treat.

Great spot for a bite to eat with an amazing view. Visited on Saturday afternoon after hiking, when the cafe was almost full. The staff were really accommodating and rearranged a table to fit our party. The food was fantastic. We had the Chicken burger, Nashville chicken waffles, Scottie burger and Loaded fries with chicken wings and everyone enjoyed their food. Large portion so we had no room for desserts! I’d highly recommend.

Fabulous restaurant ambiance, great service, and delicious food. Over and above our great dining experience, I left my handbag there in error and the staff couldn't have been more helpful in returning it to me. Thank you!

Stopped for lunch on way to Dunoon. What a lovely place, with a fantastic view over water. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We had the hot dog, panninis and waffle chicken. They were excellent and generous portions. Will be back.

We visited this fab bistro twice this week. The first time I had just got off the bus from Glasgow and my hubbie suggested we went in for a cuppa. We ended up sharing chips as well as they are always soooo good. Yesterday we went for lunch with friends and again it was as good as always. We shared olives and bread and tequila muscles for starters and the muscles were truly delicious. Hubbie and I had chicken tenders for our mains and our friends had Cullen Skink and the chickpea curry from the 'Specials board'. They said both were really good. One of the things I love about Cù Mara is that you are always welcome whether it's just for coffee and cake or a full meal. The staff are lovely and Derek the owner and chef is 100% spot on. The ambience, decor, quality of food, you name it - he has it sussed.

Stopped off in arrochar on our way home from portavadie, for lunch. Found this bistro after looking on trip advisor, and so glad we did. Didn’t see it immediately so if in doubt, it’s next to the village hall, which also has parking. The bistro is really lovely with friendly and welcoming staff (two young men were very pleasant and helpful). The menu was great with a lot of good options and the food was plentiful and most importantly tasted great. Between us, we had soup, chicken burger, loaded fries and hummus & flat bread - each of us enjoyed the meal and agreed that we would want to visit again very soon. This will definitely be my go-to in this part of the country.

Coming back to my birthplace we always go back to this Bistro , We entrée the Bistro and was greeted by the young waiter, who showed us to the table and explained all the special. The pizza are to die for baked in an old pizza oven , the burgers are the size of the Shad and lovely and moist . The staff are young but well trained and polite, this is a little diamond in the Troscah Word of advice book before you go in the tourist season

Cu Mara has the perfect menu and the perfect view. The staff are fab too! We love visiting this bistro and there is always something different to try on the menu. Sometimes we are passing by during the daytime so we get a takeaway. It really is a hidden gem.

What a fabulous evening. We weren’t sure you were open but are so glad your were! Quite simply one of the best meals we have had. Incredible service from Soloman & Lachlan- we enjoyed the best mussels we’ve ever had. Followed by the gnocchi (with samphire, haddock, egg, ciabatta - all my favourites!) and a fantastic hot dog. And followed by a beautiful cocktail! If you’re considering this place -DO IT! They even brought our dogs chicken! What a wonderful establishment, you’ve made our holiday ❤️

We went to this amazing bistro to celebrate a watershed birthday and had a gorgeous meal. The food was delicious with lots of choice; service fantastic and friendly; the atmosphere warm and cosy with a touch of glam. The mojitos were divine too! Fantastic venue. Brilliant fresh, hot and tasty pizza. I asked for jalapeños on my peperoni pizza and got them - no question- no extra charge. Great craft IPA. My wife had a proper margarita with a rim of salt Excellent venison burger on gluten free brioche bun. Homemade slaw and crispy skin on fries. Great friendly service. Amazing place considering the village is so small. I wish you all the success in the world. I'll be back!
