Peatzeria in Argyll & Bute

My wife and I, with our small dog visited during a lunch time break in Bowmore. A great welcome by lovely staff, nice cocktail, followed by one of the nicest pizza and pasta combinations that we have ever had. The staff are particularly welcoming, and were lovely to our little dog. We thoroughly recommend and we will use again when in the area. Thank you. A++++

Thank you to Koko and the rest of the Peatzeria team. We made a reservation to 10 people on the wednesday evening for the following night. The food was so wonderful and the team really when above and beyond. It was one of groups birthday and the team brought out dessert with a sparkler and sang Happy Birthday. All the wait staff were so attentive and really looked after us. We tried to rebook for the Sunday as we had had such a good time on the Thursday and all thought out our time on Islay everyone kept saying that how good Peatzeria was and how it was difficult to get a booking. Unfortunately we could get in for the Sunday evening, however as we were only staying up the road we decided to order takeaway. Again the food was delicious although our group of 7 all order either the pizza Peatzeria or the diavolo, as they were the favourites from the Thursday night. Thank you again for your hospitality and awesome food.

Travelled to Islay with a group of 18 people to celebrate a big birthday. We checked out Peatzeria on a previous trip and were pleased to be able to book an entire annex area, which took dogs, for our entire group. For booking the manager Paul could not have been more helpful. Putting up with me asking daft questions months in advance. We were asked to pre-order, which given the group size and the great menu was no problem at all. Most had pizza, which is incredible - can recommend their Black and Red pizza with black pudding, goats cheese and red onion relish - and some had pasta. Pretty much everyone has amazing starters and most of us had room for dessert. The staff on the day were brilliant, the place spotless, the toilets well kept and the view over the sea gorgeous. Do recommend, will definitely visit again. Thank you to Paul and the staff for your hospitality and care

Se pensate di mangiarvi una pizza forti del fatto che sia sul loro sito che su tutti i motori di ricerca indicano le 22.00 come orario di chiusura siete degli illusi. Arrivate alle 21.15 ed un signore intento a giocare col cellulare in un locale semivuoto vi dirà che il locale è chiuso. Non un minuto prima della chiusura ufficiale, ma 45 minuti prima. Chissà, forse anche un'ora. Che a fare una pizza ci metti 5 minuti, io a mangiarla anche meno. Ora, sarà che vendere pizze a 20£ ti basta farne 10 per fare serata, ma vedere metà traghetto delle 20.05 vagare invano per la cittadina in cerca di cibo qualche pensiero sulla capacità di business di questo locale ti viene naturale. Buon per loro.

Had the best pizza in Peatzeria I’ve ever had. Fresh seafood was delicious and the pizza base perfect. Sharon is such a joy friendly, outstanding service. Can’t wait to come back

First visit to Islay and staying in Bowmore. Range of pizzas and quality were superb. Recommend the Red and Black. Chance to sample some local beers as well. Must visit if you like your pizza.

Such delicious pizzas. That dough!!! That tomato base!!! Like being in Italy but with a wonderful local twist. We tried the scallop pizza and black pudding pizza and loved them. Would 100% recommend.

Last minute decision with no regrets. Staying in Islay with family. Late call to ring for pizza takeaway instead of going out. Great service and fantastic pizza for very reasonable prices. Highly recommended !!

During our stay on Islay recently, we were delighted to find out that this pizza restaurant near our air b&b was open for takeaway some night (pre-order by phone and book a pick-up slot). We loved our delicious freshly made-pizzas, a plus being that the veggie one can be veganised on request with vegan cheese!! This means a lot! Many thanks :)

We ordered a selection of pasta, pizza and salads. The food was absolutely great; my daughter still raves about the mezzaluna months later. Desserts were good too and because we couldn't decide between the various desserts and ice cream, we had to come back the following afternoon to make sure we got our ice cream fix too! The staff were all very polite and friendly and put up with us having to switch our booking arrangements fairly last minute.

Loved this modern little place and great pizza's, made a nice change from more traditional food at other places on the island.

The best gluten free pizza ever. A lovely restaurant with a nice atmosphere. BF and I both had pizza, mine was gluten free and tasted delicious! The staff were great and we’re likely to go back.

The Islay scallop pizza was wonderful, and having a gluten free crust option was fantastic. The service was wonderful, warm, and welcoming. Definitely worth a pop in for lunch or dinner.

Located in a converted chapel Peatzeria has loads of character and is clearly 'the place to go' in Bowmore as even in the middle of February it was very busy. We ate in the gallery and received friendly and attentive service throughout. Our starters were tasty and my wife's bruschetta was particularly good. An interesting range of pizzas are on offer and we chose the fajitas and the ham and cheese. The good value pizzas are cooked well and were mostly enjoyable however the lashings of topping did make it quite a challenge to finish them. It's great that Islay has its own Italian restaurant and I hope it continues to do well.

Three of us had pizzas (assorted), another had chicken. All of us raved about the food. Big portions, reasonable prices. Puddings also good. Unusual interior and outside terrace must be wonderful in good weather. Service was excellent. Highly recommended, will definitely return. They do a grand job, can’t be easy on an island.

We stayed in Bowmore over New Year and on two occasions had dinner here with our baby. Lovely staff, warm and friendly welcome with a really nice atmosphere. The place is really spacious and modern inside, and very reasonably priced for what you get!The best thing though was the food - my highlight was the ‘black and red’ pizza which was adorned with loads of black pudding, goat’s cheese and caramelised onions. The Parma ham and scallop pizza was my wife’s choice - and getting eight Islay scallops for that price was brilliant value all told. So all in all, if you’re fancying a nice dinner in a relaxed, pleasant setting then give this a go. We’re evidently not the only ones to have enjoyed our time here. Try the Islay Ales Stout while you’re here too...

Very pleasant space with very good pizza and very good service. Waitress made a spot on recommendation for pizza and offered my wife an alternate wine to her liking.

After a day of whisky tasting the four of us were looking for a place to eat that was not too expensive. Came across Peatzeria while wandering the streets of Bowmore. Though not a large restaurant, we were seated and our drink orders taken (we tried the local brews and found them very good.) the Peatzeria House Salad was our starter, a nice fresh mix of lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, feta cheese, olives and Italian dressing. Mt cohorts and I enjoyed a variety of pizzas, mine was the Spiced Meatball and Jalapeno pizza, crispy crust, savory tomato sauce and nicely spiced. I got a chance to meet the Chef and he learned his trade in Naples, Italy, making classic Neapolitan pizzas. He uses ingredients imported from Italy and the pizza flavors reflect the excellent ingredients.If you are looking for a place to eat, I can recommend Peatzeria, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

The wife and I shared a pizza and a salad. They were both great. Had some beer from Skye and it was a wonderful evening. Would go back.

Sorry, aber das war das schlechteste Essen auf unserer Reise. Ausser dem Namen ist hier nichts originell, nicht mal original. Ok, man kann die Pizza dick oder dünn bestellen. Dünn wäre italienisch. Was wir bekamen war ein an Sperrholz erinnerter Fladen, auf dem eine Jalapeno Fertig-Soße draufgekippt war, nach dem Aufenthalt im Ofen. Die Getränke waren touristenmäßig aufgepreist. Wir können uns nicht vorstellen, dass Locals da hingehen. Wir fühlten uns geneppt.

Chance visit this evening as we had no reservation but we were able to get our table for two. Restaurant small but tastefully decorated for Halloween. Staff welcoming, very receptive and friendly throughout the visit. Menu presented a good range of reasonably priced dishes with something for everyone. Decided on pizza and we were not disappointed. Pizzas were thin as requested, loaded with fillings and delicious..... not a crumb left on our plates. Too full for dessert but lots of choice available.

This was an excellent place to finish our trip to Islay. I enjoyed the buttered chicken and my husband said the whisky infused bbq sauce was delicious. The staff were friendly and efficient.

And I don't mean just good for Islay. This place is great! Had dinner there the 2 nights I was in Bowmore. Their spicy meatball pizza is fantastic and their gnocchi is ridiculously good. The staff was very nice and helpful. The owner was there both times and ensured we were taking care of. The garlic sour cream sauce would be good on a shoe. I will miss this place. 6 stars

We had dinner there with friends with our respective kids. The staff were really friendly and the pizzas are great with some really good toppings such as Black and Red and Chicken Fajita.

Simply a fantastic eatery, good pizza and Islay inspired dishes. I would 100% recommend the whisky infused bbq sauce! Fantastic atmosphere and lovely layout. Worth the visit!!!

This is a fantastic pizzeria which wouldn't look out of place in Glasgow. The pizzas are handmade, a fair size, and the dough is nice and light. I had the chicken & haggis from the specials board - chicken & haggis both delicious enough, but the crowning ingredient was the peat smoked olive oil drizzled on top - a true taste of Islay!

What a great find - delicious, fresh Italian dishes prepared by Chef Paul using local produce giving a Scottish twist to some old favourites, along with some special dishes the menu has something for everyone & all at very reasonable prices.

Really friendly and helpful staff. Dined here while touring around Islay and the pizza was the best I have had such a perfect crisp base and got to choose my own toppings, which is a winner for me being a picky eater. Decor is lovely and the toilets are beautiful and sparkling clean ( always a good sign for me in a restaurant ). You must leave room for dessert as the cheesecake was mouthwatering and the sticky toffee pudding delicious and not heavy. A great find.

A lovely welcome when we went in from Sharon and Paul . Table all ready for 11 of us and drinks and menus very prompt . A warm friendly atmosphere with laughter from all tables . Delicious food from Paul served promptly and all together . No waiting for someone’s dish to come ! We all loved it . Couldn’t eat everything and only sad we could it fit in another visit on our holiday on Islay.

Was ok. Not fantastic. The red wine was a relabelled import from Italy. Had the meatball pizza, not fresh meatballs. Felt as if the came out of a can? Beers were double what you’d get at the coop. Would not go back.

Looking for place to eat in Islay, many or the locals had great things to say about this place.

We popped in for a lunchtime pizza and were blown away with the quality, freshness and taste of our Islay crab and lobster toppings, the chilli and parmesan fries complimented it perfectly, the pleasant and friendly staff provided us with excellent service too.

Three of us came for a late lunch. Unfortunately for us, the deck was fully booked, so we had a table inside. Our son had pizza which he thought was delicious. I had a salad and asked if they could add Bradan Rost to it, which they kindly did. It was out of this world delicious. All of our food was hot, fresh, and tasty. Excellent espresso-based coffees was a great finish to our meal. One point off for service... no major complaints, just not as friendly and engaging as it could be.

So glad we make the drive up from Port Ellen. Highly recommend reservations as the place is small. Great pizza that hit the spot. Worth multiple visits to try another pizza.

Five of us turned up at 4pm on Saturday and ordered our drinks and first and main courses, which arrived without any issues. The food was good, especially the pizzas, although the goats cheese and black pudding pizza was a weird combination.

We had one dinner here during our stay in Bowmore and it was a good choice. Booking is advisable as it is quite a small restaurant and very busy. We had one rustic and one thin and crispy pizza, one with scallops and the other with smoked mussels and bradan rost. They were both very tasty. The service was friendly and attentive.

Slight mix up with our booking but was soon resolved by the attentive and friendly staff The choice and quality of the food was great. A lovely place to refuel after a day exploring the island.

We were surprised at the quality of pizzas here, they were good. It’s a very friendly little place with a lovely outdoor setting but upstairs is equally cute and cozy. The service was excellent and they took great care of our toddler.

Used the sit in and the takeaway. Both occasions the food was excellent and the staff friendly with excellent service. This is a must go to for any trip to Bowmore

Visited for dinner and decided to sit outside to make the most of the view. The special salt and chilli prawns were good, as was the special haggis and chicken pizza. Albeit a bit expensive, the lobster and prawn pizza was very nice and something different for our first night on Islay. The service was good and we enjoyed the selection of Islay Ales.

We had a lovely meal here at the start of our trip to Islay. Really friendly service, great food and drinks including the wine selection by the glass. Also very helpful and accommodating with allergies. Would definitely recommend.

Had a lovely supper here during our brief visit to Bowmore. Welcome and friendly staff matched by the quality of the food. Delightful view of the harbour when seated on converted terrace at the back. Highly recommended.

This restaurant opened some time after our last visit to Islay. A really nice outdoor area with a canopy and blankets for a bit of warmth in the evening sea breeze. Service was quick, efficient and very friendly. Food was excellent. We will be back!!

The pizza choice here is fantastic with some unusual choices of toppings. We opted for the lobster/prawn and the Islay scallops, both were delicious. Prices might seem a little high but it was well worth it. The young staff were friendly and gave great service, we'll be sure to visit again when back on Islay.

We have eaten in the restaurant and enjoyed the pizza so we thought we would get a take out this time. It didn't seem like it had been cooked fresh, was cold and hard and dry. We felt massively ripped off as these pizza's are not cheap. Won't go again.

I was visiting for just 24 hours, and I found this place in Bowmore. Interesting pizza and other food with a decent bar selection. I sat out on the terrace with a priceless view of the bay. I had the special (chicken and haggis pizza, with peat smoke oil), and it did not disappoint.

Really enjoyed the pizza here and the view from the screened in garden was lovely; the seafood pizza was loaded with smoked salmon, would go here again.

Absolutely superb. Have never enjoyed a pizza as tasty as this. Opted for the smoked salmon and mussel pizza. Staff very friendly and beautiful views. Can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend a must if in Bowmore.

Amazing place, very helpful and professional staff, good selection of quality local beers (Islay Ales) they have the option to have vegan cheese instead of the regular so this makes this place a must for vegans visiting Isla. Also their non vegan options looked incredible such as the deep fried mac and cheese and smoked rib pizza (special). Fantastic family run business! Keep up the good work!

We had a lovely meal here over looking the sea. Our pizzas with focaccia bases were fantastic, super friendly staff and a really good vibe. Next time we are in Islay we’ll be back!

Great food, lovely outside terrace with pizza oven on the seafront if weather is good. Covered patio with patio heaters and tartan knee rugs if a bit cooler. Inside has lovely decor, great family friendly atmosphere, best on the island.

We ate here once during our stay in Bowmore, we went here based on tripadvisor reviews. We were not dissapointed. We had a table upstairs, we were lucky to have made reservations, because several walk-ins were refused. The starters were good (Peatzeria salad and chicken ceasar salad), the pizza great. We loved the Islay Crab pizza, the other, Islay Scallops pizza aas ok, but slightly been in the oven too long. We split a Tiramisu. Recommended!

We recently went for lunch at Peatzeria and tried the Spicy Chicken and Haggis Pizza along with a salad to share for three. If you’re not a fan of Haggis, fear not as the Haggis on the Pizza isn’t overwhelming. There is more of a pronounced spicy chicken flavour to this creation. Staff were very friendly and accommodating to our request to get a patio seat. The thin crust pizza arrived in good time. The washrooms were clean and our only regret was that we didn’t have any room left for ice cream. Another time we tried the lobster pizza, it is rich and we had the leftovers packed to go home. Enjoy your visit!

We just loved eating here. The restaurant was pretty and beautiful art work on the walls. The pizza was so good. My husband enjoyed his special pizza of the day with chicken and haggis. Don't miss eating here, the staff are friendly and welcoming!

Nice cozy restaurant, recommend sitting outside in the covered terrace with nice view... blankets supplied if required! Food was very nice, and service good if a litte clumsy. Defo recommend.

The food was amazing, if you are visiting Islay it is definitely a must try. The atmosphere was lively and if you sit around the back you get a great view of the water view. The food is fabulous and the staff are so polite.

I was a bit sceptical about a pizza restaurant but our experience was delightful. We both had salmon salad to start which was delicious. Lobster seafood pizza was thin, crispy and divine.

We were staying in Bowmore and liked the look of this restaurant. The food and service were excellent. We hadn't booked however I would suggest you probably should. We sat outside in the covered area and the views were stunning. We shared a bruschetta and then had the chicken fajita pizza and homemade slaw and salad. The house red was sangiovesse and very smooth. We also shared a sticky toffee pudding with the most delicious ice cream. We'll definitely return when back in Bowmore

Really great food at reasonable prices - never had haggis on a pizza before but a great combination. The service was prompt despite it being busy. You do normally have to book as the place is quite small and is always busy (a great sign) and popular with locals as well as visitors. The views across Loch Indaal are amazing especially at sunset!

Warm welcome on arrival. Great menu with some of Islay seafood/haggis. Pizzas were delicious with plenty of toppings/salad with a good selection of veg.Chips thin and crispy.Good selection of puddings. Hope to return.

Came here for dinner our first night on Islay. Really enjoyed the "Peatza" - scallops were just so delicious and everything about it worked perfectly together. We liked it so much we came back for ice cream later in our stay on Islay.

We visited the restaurant with our daughter who now lives on the island in late April. It was on a Saturday lunchtime and we ate in the small area on the ground floor as the mezzanine first floor area was fully occupied with a young child’s birthday party taking place so not as relaxing as we would have liked. Nevertheless the food was good and reasonably priced so we will probably try it in the evening when we, hopefully, visit the island again later in the year.

We dropped in for lunch and tried the scallop pizza and crab pizza. The thin crust was a little too thin but still very tasty. The topping was very generous, lots of crab and scallops made these pizzas great value and taste fantastic. Staff were very friendly.

Had chicken and haggis pizza and a Margherita with artichoke. Service was good and quick. We learned to eat early on Islay if you didn’t have reservations.

Went here on our way back to the other side of the island and stopped in Bowmore for dinner. We hadn't booked but that wasn't a problem we got a table straight away (it was early on a Monday evening) staff really friendly. Food was excellent, house wine decent too and very reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit.

This place is a find. Not much competition on Islay but seriously good food at a commensurate price. One starter, I glass wine, 1 beer and two pizzas for GBP70 - but.... really good pizza! Gorgeous seafront location and lip smacking food so worth every penny!

If your staying on Islay this is definitely a must ,, the staff are amazing nothing was a problem to them , we had booked in for evening meal at one of their busiest times Islay Festival the staff were extremely busy,,, the choices on the menu were great and well worth waiting for amazing pizzas

Probably the best gluten free pizza I’ve had - lovely base but the toppings - scallops and Parma ham.....Magnificent! And a very friendly staff team. Highly recommended

We visited Peatzeria once again and had a great evening. The Pizza was very crispy and full of nice Toppings. The absolute Highlight was the Bowmore Vault no.1 Milkshake - the absolute very best Milkshake I ever had. And Erin was a most friendly waitress - it was a joy to be her guest.
