The best restaurants serving Italian food in Bargate Southampton South East

First red flag should have been the fact we were the only table from 7pm on a Friday night. Ordered arranchini to start - worst I’ve ever had. Barely any risotto rice inside, very hard on the outside and small portion size. Main of monkfish from the specials menu was nice, however so overpriced and would not have ordered it had I clocked the price. Again, Tiramisu for dessert - worst I’ve ever had. I’m not sure how you can mess up tiramisu but they have managed it, Borderline watery, no thickness to the mascarpone cream, did not finish it. This was one of the most expensive meals I have had out, and sadly the standard was sub par. So many great Italians out there, more keenly priced. Once we paid and left, within 5 minutes the doors were shut, lights out. Clearly the only table they were expecting, Note the Italian next door was very busy and this was still the case once we left at 9pm - as it should be on a Friday evening. Personally I would avoid.

Lovely little spot, sat out in the sun for breakfast and it was a delight. Staff were very welcoming and attentive. Food was first class, would love to come back.

Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Bacaro, first time here, gorgeous food, we shared croquettes and brie for starter,steak for our main and the most gorgeous tiramisu for dessert. Service was great and the atmosphere too.

We had a wonderful lunch at Ennios on Valentine's Day. The soup and ham hock terrine were delicious, the trout cooked perfectly with scrumptious new potatoes which had been pan fried to just the right amount of crunchiness. My husband had the chocolate and raspberry torte and gave me a taste - beautiful dark chocolate complemented by the raspberry sorbet. But best of all, I have to say, was the tiramisu - truly the most delicious I have ever had! I will have to go back again, as it really was amazing.

Very kind staff. We ran into an issue and they were really helpful and sweet. They calmed us down and talked to us, later giving us a free pizza. I cannot thank them enough for helping us and making my sister feel safe. Bless you guys! 🙏

The food was good, and the menu offered extensive options for those with gluten and dairy intolerances. The wine and beer selection was also impressive, with high-quality choices available. However, despite the positive reviews I had read, the service was disappointing. The staff lacked energy and enthusiasm, and unfortunately, the server who attended to us came across as aloof. Her attempt to remember our order led to one of us being served the wrong pizza, resulting in a further 10-minute wait for a replacement. To her credit, she did return with an apology and offered us a free drink. We requested a complimentary pizza, which was kindly granted. However, I was surprised to see a service charge still added to the bill—something I would have declined had I noticed at the time. When we left, most of the staff were gathered at the bar chatting, which reinforced our impression of an unwelcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, given the overall experience, we won't be returning.

Clean and tidy but had a cheap feel. Serviettes disintegrated on the first use. Penny pinching! Service was very good but the food wasn't great. The house burger was apparently good but the chicken burger was tiny. The roll was fine and nice salad filling and accompanying salsa. Side salad excellent. Chips were unseasoned and there was no salt and pepper on the table. Penny pinching again. Ketchup came in those little sachets which, even as a man, I find tricky to undo without making a mess. Didnt have brown sauce. Penny pinching. Wouldn't take much to improve to a better standard

My favourite local italian. best pizzas ever. Very accomodating to kids and toddlers even if they make some mess. Good selection of vegetarian options.
