Lovely food, Hannah was a great server and very attentive. Good atmosphere and cosy dining. Would recommend!

Service wasn't great, meals were brought out one by one with 5mins between dishes and the last was delayed even more. We ordered pasta which was a mistake, carbonara was very bland, the other dishes were a pesto prawn pasta from the special's menu which had only a couple of prawns in it. Ordering and receiving drinks was slow also. Looking at other people's tables the pizza looked very nice and probably the better meal option. Cocktails were tasty. Unlikely to return.

Really nice restaurant, friendly staff and tasty food! Pizzas are massive so would be good for sharing, I had to take some home!

Populated with lots of restaurants in this area of Southampton, this choice was simply the best! Atmosphere is great, not too quiet not too loud, drinks are amazing have something for everyone! The food options are insane ! Who knew you could get chicken Caesar salad came on a fresh pizza ! Incredible ! Service is superb - if you get to have the pleasure of Ariaja - you hit extra lucky !!

Great experience but we were initially given some dirty cutlery and we were not given the specials board originally, which we did not know until we were given it for the dessert. The dish my friend wanted was on the specials board and we had already eaten our mains. Other than this great service. Really friendly staff.

The service was good and attentive. The waiter came later with the specials and wish I never ordered the prawn pasta now. It had avocado. I blame myself for poor decision making. I should have never deviated from the pizza! The pasta literally had 3 prawns that tasted from frozen. It was oily and had no taste. Pretty disappointed to be honest. The pint of Moretti was good!

I booked a table to celebrate the New Year's Eve with my other half: what a lovely evening! The food came quick, it was tasty and very generous portions. The staff was the nicest part of the evening: all the 3 people who assisted us (2 ladies and one young man) were so polite and and nice. 100% recommended from an Italian fella!

Pizzas?! OMG, the largest we have had in years!!! Thin base and very delicious, authentic Italian pizza. We have had some starters too and all was delicious. My only regret is that this restaurant is too far from us, otherwise we would be there often 😅

I had high hopes for L’Osteria in Southampton, but the food was a major letdown. The pesto pasta tasted like it came straight out of a cheap supermarket tin—bland, oily, and completely lacking the fresh, vibrant flavors you’d expect from an authentic Italian dish. The disappointment didn’t stop there. The pizza dough was uninspiring, lacking the chewy, airy texture of a good artisan pizza. To make matters worse, the toppings were akin to what you’d expect from a generic takeout chain—nothing fresh, creative, or memorable. For the prices they charge, I expected far more effort and quality. Save your money and go elsewhere if you’re after real Italian flavors.

I went here for a dinner with my friends. It was an all around good experience. The prices were reasonable and the portion sizes were good. We each got one dish per person and still we had leftovers. The staff was very friendly and helpful and made sure all our needs were met. The washrooms were well-kept as well. The waiting time wasn’t bad given we had made a reservation. It was very crowded on the way we went there. Would recommend for a good Italian meal!

We’ve been a few times there for lunch and we always enjoy our meal. My favourite thing is the carbonara, but the bruschetta as well. I totally recommend it.

Customer service has really gone downhill. Ordered our drink, which arrived after we finished our meal. We asked for our drinks 4/5 times during our meal, including water and some cocktails. They did a good gesture by deducting the drink from our bill but would have rather have them with our food.

This is a lovely place to go for dinner, the food is amazing and so so filling. However I will say upon arrival the staff member checking us in was quite rude, we had apologised for being a little late and said we had tried to call to make them aware twice and got no answer; yet still got a snarky and rude comment in return. They also added a 12.5% tip to our meal without even asking us, this increased the cost of our meal by quite a bit. Although would return as a customer as the food was incredible.

I had the lovely pleasure of being served by Hannah tonight along with my 3 other friends. Hannah was so so patient with us as we were a little particular, she was very attentive and had immense customer service skills. She never made us feel rushed or uneased at making our special requests (Johns birthday being one of them) I really hope her managers see this and give her some verbal praise for being so endearing. Hannah we appreciate you and we hope that our table brought a smile to your day 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

It's OK, I think that's the best way to describe this pizzeria. Portions are big so you won't be leaving hungry Ingredients are fresh and the pizza is good. Now, the not so good things The pizza is far too thin for my liking The pizza crusts were slightly burned. The pizza is much bigger than the plate so it is difficult to get it cut The music was far too loud, one can't hold a conversation properly like that. A very annoying thing is a 12.5% service charge added to the bill without prior consultation. This feels like entitlement from the owners wanting to have more profit. If the service is great, I will be more than happy to tip the waiter, being forced to do so however is a big no no for me. We are not in the US. And the worst of all was the chili oil. That wasn't extra virgin olive oil infused with chili. That was probably a mix of refined oils with a sprinkle of chili which was honestly disgusting.

The pizzas are delicious and very large so you could easily share or take home! Homemade Dessert very tasty!

The food was nice and worth the money we had paid for it. However the low rating was given because of the lack of variety on the menu and service. It took a little while for our waitress to come over and take our order initially. There were no sides on the menu and there were no sauces available to go alongside the pizza which was disappointing. And then when it came to paying, our waitress had an attitude when we said we would not be paying the service charge, and she was replied with a loud sigh and moan. She was very rude as after we had paid she replied with ‘done’ and walked off. Staff at this restaurant should be reminded that a service charge is optional and only given when the service had gone above and beyond. It is not an expectation, and because of this I will not be returning.

The pizza was great and dessert also. What I found strange is that they don’t have any sides or any sauces. Customer Service was absolutely poor, waited nearly 10minutes to be attended to. When I ordered my drink they don’t confirm with me if it was a pint or half pint. So they just assumed I wanted a half pint but I wanted a full pint. I had to stand up myself and go to the bar ask for pint myself. It’s just the simple details that were completely missed. Now when it was time that received our bill there was service charge. And service charge is absolutely optional, with the service I was provided no chance. So when I asked the waitress to removed it in her words, “Oh you should have to me told that the in the first place so I can remove it”. She an attitude and after she replied with a loud sigh and moan. She was very rude as after we had paid she replied with 'done' and walked off. This is second time that has happen in this restaurant, they get such an attitude when you ask to removed, this is optional. If I was given good service I will tip myself. For all these reasons, I will not be returning to this restaurant. Absolutely disgraceful Customer Service.

Amazing staff really made my daughter Lilly feel special for her 16th Birthday. Food was amazing please pass on my thanks to the team. We did have a problem with cash only but staff handled the situation very well informing us prior to the visit by phone explaining. We will be back thank you

Review: Disappointing Experience at L'Osteria Southampton I recently visited L'Osteria Southampton with my family of four, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. Upon arrival, we were asked to wait for a table despite the restaurant being half-empty and plenty of staff on hand. The staff didn’t seem particularly happy to be there, which set a negative tone from the start. After finally being seated, we were given menus but then left unattended for quite some time. We waited for 20 minutes before a staff member walked by and acknowledged us, saying she would take our order shortly. Another 10 minutes passed, and despite her assurance, no one returned to take our orders. During our wait, we overheard arguments between the manager and the staff, which only added to the unpleasant atmosphere. It was disheartening to see such a lack of professionalism. After a total of 30 minutes of waiting, we decided to leave, frustrated and disappointed. Overall, the disorganized service and visibly unhappy staff made for a very uncomfortable experience. Dining out should be enjoyable, but this visit was anything but. I won’t be returning to L'Osteria Southampton and cannot recommend it based on this experience. On a more positive side, we went to Zizzi instead and had the most amazing food with the best service. Staff was great and enjoyed the place.

After a long challenging day Peter the waiter made our 27 year anniversary a great experience. Great food, brilliant service.

After 5 minutes pizza was extremely hard/stiff/dry. I struggled to finish it. It meant to be traditional Italian pizza but it was far from it. I was disappointed. That's just my opinion though and you might like it. On the other hand, desserts were amazing.

Be warned, the pizzas are big, thin but big. A single pizza will feed 2-3 people and can be half n halved. The pannini (dough balls), are also enough for 2-3 people as well. The red wine we ordered was but also was not on the list and the servers were confused and gave us a bottle of the ones that they had been supplied. Toilets, they play learn to speak Italian tracks... bit weird. Not something I want while taking care of things. Parts of the restaurant felt a bit too dark, I recognise the need for atmosphere but it was a bit too dark where we were sat.

My family and I have been coming here for many years and always had good service and food. Tonight the food was lovely and the lady who served us was phenomenal as always, however.... tonight... myself and my daughter went to use the toilet before leaving, but once we got to the staircase, we got loudly hollered at across part of the restaurant by a large, loud and very rude man in a shirt who had been checking people in at the door (i guess he must be the manager but I'm not sure). He wanted to know (VERY loudly in front of other eaters) where we were going and what we were doing?!! I explained in disbelief, that we were going to use the toilet! He then shouted 'so do you want a table then?' I explained (in more disbelief and embarrassment) that we had just finished eating on the far side of the restaurant!! The people eating were watching in disbelief and appeared to feel quite sorry for us and this obnoxious man looked at us as though he did not believe us as he watched us walk up the stairs?!! He was incredibly rude and quite frankly ruined every part of the lovely evening that we had just had! It was humiliating and embarrassing and we did not deserve to be treated this way at all. My daughter was shocked! When I came back to get our bags from our table, I took the receipt to this rude man and showed him the £70 we had just spent in his restaurant. I explained that he was incredibly rude to my daughter and I, and that he should apologise for shouting at us in that way across the restaurant, but he continued to look right into my eyes claiming he did not understand. He then said he thought we needed a table?! He did not apologise. I am absolutely appalled by the treatment we have received this evening and will not be back. Please accept this as an official complaint.

Our first time and it will be our last. The prosciutto pizza was so thin and crispy and tasteless. The worse cheese I have ever tasted on pizza. Chili oil has no flavor. We asked for chili flake, but received some dried mini chili’s. Was about to ask for the pestle and mortar! Kids pizza was overly salted, and the ‘pizza bread’ was terrible. The tomato sauce on the Arrabbiata was bland - again tasteless… Peroni and Aperil Spritz as good.

It is located inside the Westquay shopping centre, it has tables both inside and outside. The staff very kind and nice. I took the margherita pizza, good for being abroad and also very large. Advised!

Got seated towards back of restaurant and there was no acknowledgement,no offer of drinks and service. Tried to get waiters attention and told they can't take orders would need to get a server. However we waited further with no service. Had to walk out in the end leaving hungry and upset. Asked to speak to someone on the way out and she said she could take our order then but we weren't willing to wait anymore. Such a shame as this was one of our to go places and unfortunately won't recommend it or come back.

Came to have dinner here Friday evening, usually when i have visited L’osteria it has always been great, however my visit today was the opposite. My friend ordered a hugo spritz which arrived to our table half full (picture below) After we ordered our food, we waited for our starter to come out; naturally you would assume a starter would come before mains however both our pizzas arrived before our starter which we thought was strange, so we asked if our starter could be brought out instead. The waitress or possibly food runner said we can let her know when we were finished with our starter so that she can then bring our mains back out; however, a different waitress or food runner then came out with our pizzas only a few minutes after when we were still eating our starter Whilst eating our food another waitress or food runner then came out with another order of my friends pizza, so in total we have had three lots of that pizza arrive. The waitress or food runner who arrived to our table to see my friend with her pizza already said “oh my f*cking god, i’m being told so many different things i am getting so pissed off, sorry.” After that we tried to enjoy our meals but from these multiple issues we felt the good atmosphere decline and lost our appetites. Despite this, Victoria our server was very nice and welcoming and our food tasted good as usual, but the service overall was not good.

My wife and I stopped by here for dinner and left disappointed. We ordered the chicken tikka pizza and tortellini. While the tortellini was good, the pizza could have been better. It was pretty bland and just really tasted like onions. The price was also fair for ordering a whole pizza, tortellini and drinks. It was nice that they split the pizza on 2 plates for my wife and I.

Closed by bailiff a few months ago and reopened recently so I came back to try. Food is still average, promoting quantity over quality. Service is average with people on the front door with very little to no skills to welcome customers making unfortunate comments to customers... The most annoying piece is the entitlement of charging 12.5% for service on your bill and demand payment as soon as the bills touches the table. Put the 12.5%, in addition to your margin, and let people to choose to come in base on the pricing list. I do not recommended and I will never return. Better for West Quay to close it and put a better quality restaurant.

Stopped in hoping for our usual at Italian restaurants. Lasagna for me and spaghetti Bolognese for my boyfriend. Literally nothing else in the menu sounded great. When we tried to order we were told they did not have the Bolognese. We took more time to look and finally settled on a pizza for him and calzone for me. We chose to be seated outside as the music inside was too loud. We're on a date, we want to communicate and not have to yell at eachother! Outside was kind of uncomfortable as well. Some of the people walking and hovering about made us feel uneasy. The food was not great. Definitely not worthy of the price point. Very dry crunchy dough. Just nothing extraordinary. The waiter was nice. My boyfriend did enjoy his desert.

Food is incredible, absolutely massive Italian style pizza at reasonable price. Drinks are more pricey but kind of what you’d expect. Very busy so definitely book!

Celebrated our grandsons 18th - 8/8/24, we all enjoyed our amazing food, lovely, friendly staff, made a fuss of Zach, singing & bringing him dessert with candle and went above and beyond by also replacing my meal - free of charge ! When I'd mistakenly covered my meal in salt thinking it was parmesan. Would recommend to anyone.

This place is gem. By far the best pizza I have eaten in a long time. The price is very reasonable and the pizzas are so large, easily feeds two. Great ambience, very well spaced and clean tables. Staff are very accommodating and not over bearing. Thank you very much, two very satisfied customers 😀

Just had a meal here tonight...I have a severe allergy. I am used to difficulties regarding eating out relating to this + have never ever written a review before.I feel a lot of restaurants have really embrassed + become so informative with their allergy i formaton now.Very disappointed with lack of allergy information available. Clearly none of the staff in the restaurant or the chef had any idea about allergies. I'm allergic to Lupin, although this is uncommon, it's still on the " declared" allergen list...the manager didn't even come over to have a conversation about it.The chef muddled it up with gluten , despite being informed + spelt out to him! Our lovely friendly, helpful waitress obviously had no training in this area either....she managed to source information herself though...a big thank you to her... The air conditioning unit was dripping water onto my husband + his food too... A little disappointing 😞

Came back here after it opened again really looking forward to the food as me and my partner loved it before hand our server was rude to other managers making faces after being explained their reason for making decisions, I believe our server was the gm, then I didn’t like my pizza and I spoke to a manager (not our server) when she came to give us the bill and she was so condescending, bearing in mind we look the same age this woman was talking to me like I was a four year old saying you should of really said this before because what can I do now and other just quite frankly rude comments mostly speaking to my partner instead of me. Loved the food before hand and the service, not so much anymore the new managers are rude and cold wouldn’t recommend.

My first time at this restaurant people said it is expensive so was a bit apprehensive. Eldest has been a few times nd loves it my youngest daughter(9) is autistic/adhd nd only eats chips potato nd basmati rice i called to ask if I could bring some chips in from somewhere nd was told no problem at all. Got there greeted by a few staff nd sat down waiting for the others promptly asked if we wanted to order some drinks gave enough time to look at menus asked a few times food came out swiftly nice nd hot nd together so we weren't all eating separately. We tidied as we were eating so was easier to clear tables for my cousins 40th birthday cake to come out again brought napkins nd plates out for us nothing was too much trouble. They served my 12 month old baby wine in her pasta! Visited for my daughter's first birthday, we ordered the beef ragu from the children menu. There was no mention of wine in the food, until we got home and my baby was not feeling well. I look online and it stated that it had wine in the food. Why would you put this on a children's menu, not state it on the menu or mention it to the parents when ordering. Parents please check when ordering. They knew it was for a baby as she was the only child. I did phone to complain and at first they could not confirm if it had alcohol in, until they admitted it was the same as the adults with wine in. They did say they would take it of the menu, but I want to make parents aware.

After a nice evening in Southampton, we decided to come to L’Osteria after being unable to access the main shopping centre in the evening. (why would you close a shopping centre if there’s restaurants inside?) The spicy pizza was MASSIVE (twice the size of my head) and was delicious. Incredibly hot. VERY hot. The service was impeccable, the music is chilled and the view is nice - a great restaurant.

We had to change the time of our booking and this was easy and the staff were very accommodating and polite. The meal was lovely and the staff friendly and efficient and the ambiance was lively with a great buzz. Thank you for an excellent evening

Amazing customer service with wonderful food.

Very nice food and good service, good portions price very reasonable. Sadly, they do not allow dogs inside and the seating outside is very limited, especially for tables of more than 2.

They have lost their alcohol license apparently “today we have just found out” and despite having a booking and my contact information they decided not to get in contact throughout the day to inform me of this but instead to tell us at the door upon arrival leaving us with little choice but to dine there. Food was as good as always but was not the evening we were looking for and we would have gone elsewhere if we were pre-warned.

I went here with 3 friends for lunch and I got the ORECCHIETTE DI MANZO AL LIMONE (the white pasta pic) and the pasta tasted good but the beef tasted a little bit off. The portion of the pasta dishes is kinda bad so I recommend getting the pizza cause they’re pretty big and the same price as the pasta.

Had lunch at this restaurant yesterday. I ordered the Salad Nicoise. The ingredient were all there but instead of a light dressing it had been smothered in mayonnaise which I doubt was homemade. I ate it but didn’t enjoy it as it was cloying. I did inform the waiter who came to clear our table. I was recompensed £2+. I doubt I’ll eat there again.

Went last week with extended family and had a great time. Staff were all lovely, really helpful and attentive. The food is good, the garlic butter for the dough balls was amazing, the pizzas are huge and you can get half and half which is great. I went rogue and got the half chicken Tikka pizza but this was a mistake, didn't really taste of chicken Tikka at all, was a bit plain and boring. The BBQ chicken was nice. Overall it's worth a visit but don't expect amazing Italian pizzas, they are good but not great.

Would give 0 stars for service if possible. Ordered bolognaise, they didn’t have it. Ok sure, ordered a simple tomato pasta and added mozzarella (for £4) they put on pizza cheese? I got it changed for them to just add mozzarella on top rather than remaking. Probably didn’t help staff were incredibly inattentive and didn’t seem to have time for me.

The food is excellent. This is a very popular city restaurant. Large seating capacity and gets very busy. Once the orders were placed it was a speedy service. Friendly and helpful staff. Lighting was low-key, so much so we had to use phone torches to read the menu. We also asked for more t-lights on our table so we could see our meals. Overall, it was a good choice.

The pizza and service are amazing, one pizza is easily enough for two people. Pasta was a little weak.

It was a restaurant recommended by a friend who was local to the area. The restaurant overlooks the old stone city wall and with a window table has a lovely view from the first floor. Our order was taken by a lovely waitress called Amalia whose table service was 100% satisfaction also serving was Shae who also provided good customer service. The food was lovely and there was not a long wait for it to arrive. I would definitely recommend L'Osteria as a nice place for a meal and candles are put up on the shelves as well as on the tables giving it a nice romantic touch. Also as amazing as it seems you get Italian lessons through a speaker 🔊 inviting you to repeat what has been said how it has been said in the washrooms (toilets) which are very clean. So on my weekend trip from London to Southampton I must say that I enjoyed eating at L'Osteria more than any other restaurant.

We went here on Saturday 23rd of March, and I had a Spaghetti Carbonara which I enjoyed, The Service was very quick despite being very busy, staff were friendly, food portions were large and really tasty.
