The best restaurants serving Italian food in South East

We came with friends in March, a large booking of 15 for a meal. We arrived promptly at 7.30 but our food didn’t come out until just after 9pm. Whilst I appreciate we were a large group, 9pm isn’t satisfactory. The waiter was lovely and clearly the issue wasn’t with him but I question why they take large bookings if you can’t accommodate a reasonable time frame for serving large parties. If I’m honest I won’t recommend or return. I wanted to feedback as clearly this is something the restaurant needs to review and improve on

Run by a lovely lady. The fish stew is great. Best tiramisu in the area too.

What a wonderful host Massimo is, he always gives you such a warm welcome and what a talented team he has front of house and in the kitchen. We were four generations at the table and the menu caters for each age group. It was hard to get past the delicious warm homemade bread with olive oil and rosemary but three baskets later we did! Fabulous food, best pasta eaten almost in silence, an extensive wine list, stylish decor, real linen and great stories too -we can’t wait to return! Thank you xx

I have been away for too long. My visit this evening reminded me of the environment,the first class service and,as always the best steak in the country.Always a pleasurable experience with Massimo and his team.Thanks to you all,as ever.Ray Campsie

The staff are friendly and the atmosphere very cosy and authentic. Varied menu and the food is fresh and pleasing to the eye. The service isn’t fast but it is waiting for, would highly recommended.

If you like authentic Italian food then I encourage you to try this restaurant. We weren’t totally sure what we were going to be given but every dish was amazing and they kept coming. We left feeling well fed and satisfied. Simple wine list but the red wine we shared was delicious! The best Italian food I’ve eaten outside of Italy and the service was exceptional too, Just one piece of feedback would be that a little bit of information about what each dish is would add to the experience!

This is one of my favourite places. Staff are super friendly, the atmosphere is always calm and low key, the prices are really reasonable and, most important of all, the pizzas are authentic and delicious

We came here on a Friday night (we had booked) with friends and it was lovely to see the restaurant busy! Food was delicious, fresh, hot and authentically Italian. This was my second time in here since the new owners and it certainly won’t be my last! Thank you for a lovely meal.

Great food, good value and should be busier for the quality. I was the only person dining on a Thursday evening. House wines were a bit average.

First time here. A warm welcome is lacking due to a general air of laissez faire where service is concerned. Order taken, food served and then staff noticable by their absence. No checking on you, no follow up if you wanted more drinks. Menu limited and for some reason unbeknown to me the contents of each dish are in such faint print I'd need a microscope to see them. Very bizarre. Food itself good quality if not exceptional. Pizzas lacking flavour.

Having had a lovely meal here a couple of years ago, I was extremely disappointed this time. I had the same dishes, but the difference was very noticeable. A starter of mango and prawns consisted of unripe mango (not nice) and tiny prawns, compared to last time when the prawns were much larger (see photos). My dish of liver was equally disappointing; overcooked strips of liver, which were dry and chewy, and an over-reduced sauce, accompanied by very lack-lustre vegetables (apart from the potatoes) (see photos)

Really enjoyed my breakfast at Macchiato, friendly accommodating staff , super quick service and lovely food. Great coffee too.

Amazing Amazing Amazing best kebab and pizza the pizza is better than dominos and the kebab is huge and it was amazing!

We visited Amore for dinner whilst staying in the area. My partner and I had the best pizzas we’ve ever tasted (plenty of toppings and vegan cheese available for mine). Service was friendly too. The food was so good we went back again a couple of days later and enjoyed a pasta dish each. Once again, delicious!
