The best restaurants serving Italian food in North West

Absolutely perfect, great flavour great taste. Sometimes we forget how good pizza express pizzas are.

San Marco is a place we would normally go for a nice meal, it’s a decent Italian, apart for the loud massive open dining area which sounds like a school canteen. Food however is always very nice. But Table booked for 8pm Quick nip to the ladies which were disgraceful with water spilling across the sink area, blocked toilets (no signage). They were busy granted but it’s simple, don’t book out so many tables if you can’t cope with the numbers. Within a minute of sitting down we were asked for our order. We obliged as we knew what we wanted. Within 5 mins the starters were there. We asked for a delay for our 2nd course as we had a taxi home for 10pm and didn’t want a rush. Its not cheap there either and there was only my hubby and I 🤷🏼‍♀️ When we asked for this delay we were told by the waiter to ask again when the person came to take our starter plates. The person who took our plates was the same guy! But we reminded him again, out of politeness and because he looked like he either couldn’t give a crap or simply didn’t get it. The mains came 10mins after our plates were taken!! 🤦🏼‍♀️ On arrival of our mains, I explained that we had asked for a delay and to be fair, she did offer to take them back, however I couldn’t let good food go to waste (or risk our next version ‘moderated’ - that’s my paranoia 😂) so we agreed to just have it. I was done with both courses by 8.40! We were just kicking our heels after that 🤷🏼‍♀️

Great service, lovely fresh food, friendly atmosphere. Good facilities. There are stairs to the toilets. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this restaurant and would go again.

The manager and waitress were excellent and service was very good. everyone was very friendly, efficient and professional.

Lovely relaxed atmosphere, our server Vika was very friendly and helpful. We were impressed with the gluten free options which we needed for my son. The food was delicious, thank you!

We had a wonderful meal. The food was fresh and delicious, the service was attentive and friendly and the ambience was relaxed and warm. All in all a great experience and I highly recommend a visit.

Late lunch on a Sunday, they weren't especially busy but we had to wait to be seated. Took ages for starter of garlic bread to arr8ve, I suspected they forgot to put it through as a couple ho came in after us got their order before us. Burger had spicy sauce which I hadn't expecting as I don't like spicy food. The most annoying part wad they allowed a couple with two dogs in and one dog intermittently barked loudly begging for food, which it got. Not exactly relaxing.

From the start this place was a shambles, we are here 12 months ago and it was just as bad but as we were out and been sent a discount voucher by them we thought we would give them another go, we should have bothered ! Stood for 10 mins at the entrance waiting to be seen, we had booked a table in advance, we were eventually seated on a tiny table in the middle of the floor no room on the table and no room around us as my chair was hit by staff and customers the whole time ! We asked politely could we move to a slightly larger table and was told no were too busy !!! The tables in question stood empty for our entire visit … The drinks took ages as did the food, The food was overcooked and bland at best and for a chain restaurant was also very expensive £9 for a very small calamari starter … We then waited 35plus mins for our main which was just ok …… the server was slow and disinterested all night over all for staters and soft drinks an pizza for 3 the bill was £80 not value for money at all so thank god for the discount code . The assistant manager is the only shinning light in the restaurant …..

Lovely meal. Good service. Recently been refurbished, much better. Have eaten here for years. Never disappointed. Reasonably priced. Worth a visit.

We had an incredible evening and we want to thank Kyle, Sophie, Owen and the rest of the team. We have been coming to this restaurant for years and every time we have an excellent experience. The food is delicious, the service is impeccable and they can’t do enough for us. They are very attentive. We will continue to visit Cancello for many years. By far the best Italian restaurant in the North West.

Gio's sourdough pizzas are absolutely delicious. The best I've had. And the staff were extremely lovely and kind. Would recommend this restaurant any day.

The staff were very welcoming and the service was quick. The prices are reasonable and the food quality is great. Some dishes for us lacked a bit of flavour but we were looking for something which wasn’t on the menu and they tried to accommodate us. The atmosphere is great and the setting is beautiful. We will definitely return to try some of the specials they recommend rather than us try and request something.

Really disappointed with the service, went in for a meal and only two other tables occupied at the time, we were asked for our drinks order, this then took nearly 10 minutes to materialise whilst staff chatting behind the bar. We then thought as drinks came over we could order our meal but the server dived off to greet other customers arriving. Another 2 parties arrived and half an hour later we were still waiting to have our food order taken. In the meantime the other parties that had come in had been served food! There was no apology for delay the entire time we were there and sadly, although the food was good, I won't be back again.
