Visited on a Tuesday afternoon. Very clean and tables well spaced. Lee was the only sever and was very efficient and organised. Good food and clean toilets. Open kitchen,

We felt so unwelcomed in this restaurant. Our food hasn't been served for more than an hour. We came around 6:45pm and waited until 8:30pm but still No food were served, not even the appetizers we order. We followed up our order but they served first those who came after us multiple times. So we just walked out! Worst restaurant we've ever been in!!!

As a traveler, I visited with my son. The pizza was tasty, but I felt very unwelcome. To make matters worse, they cleared my food while I was still eating!!! Unbelievable!!! A place I will never visit again!

26.08.24. I went with my daughter to eat there because I had already ordered takeout and loved it. Very good pizza, service too. Only I don’t give it 5 stars because I didn’t have a smooth wine… but I recommend it!

Great restaurant, conveniently located. Wasnt particularly busy for a Sunday evening. Great team, very helpful and knowledgeable! Both pizzas were hot, served quickly and of good quality. Decided on desserts as well and the sundae and cheesecake were great! House red went down well and good coffee to finish off the meal!

Today I ordered my favorite Pollo Pesto Pasta from your restaurant.. The pasta arrived white and not green.. We asked the waiter why.. The waiter was convinced that we were wrong and the pasta was right and kept arguing with us.. So we pulled out a picture from your restaurant's Instagram to make sure it should be green.. He didn't try to listen to us and kept talking while leaving us and said I'm just a waiter and I'm passing your comment to the chef.. So why didn't you do that the first time?.. After a while the waiter disappeared for a long time which strangely made the restaurant without service.. it was the time for the staff to change.. But it was the longest exchange I've ever seen in my life.. And the new waiter came without making eye contact with us at all, talking to us with his eyes somewhere else.. We smiled at him and he didn't smile and didn't make eye contact with us.. This branch is the strangest branch of Pizza Express I've ever visited.

The food was excellent, I went for a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza which was delicious, washed down with a nice Peroni of course. My daughter , who is aged 9, enjoyed the dough balls, pepperoni pizza and chocolate brownie. It was great to take up the kids eat free offer, also she enjoyed the bambinocinno at the end! The service was excellent, Kanika served us and she was such a great host, from welcoming us in, through to when we left - so friendly and helpful. The food courses all arrived in good time which was great too, when eating out with a child especially. It was a really good experience all round.

Ridiculous service. ‘Kids eat free’ but if we are so slow to remove your main course dishes (25 mins) and you have the theatre to go to so don’t have time for your kids to order dessert then we have to charge you more than an actual kids menu price!!! response received and has no bearing on me as we won't be back- worst Pizza Express in the country

My friends and I went for dinner at this Pizza Express on 25th August. After finishing our pizzas, one of my friends went to the toilet and while there saw the chef - the chef! - coming out of a cubicle and leaving the toilet without washing his hands. When my friend shared this with us, we were all disgusted. My friend then walked up and had a look at the open kitchen, and saw that the kitchen sink was full of and surrounded by dough and did not appear to be in use. When the server came over with the bill, I explained what had been seen and asked to speak to the manager about this. The server was lovely, gracious and understanding. She was excellent. Unfortunately, a few minutes later, the chef himself came over to speak to us. As someone who manages a business themselves, I was shocked by this terrible decision. I had asked to speak to the manager: obviously the manager should come over to me. To send out the chef, over such an awkward issue of personal hygiene, is supremely poor management. What made matters worse was that the chef, rather than being apologetic, was defensive and rude about his disgusting actions. He admitted that he hadn’t washed his hands in the bathroom, but insisted he had washed them in the kitchen sink before preparing any food. He also claimed to have made eye contact with my friend about this and suggested that he made sure his friend saw him washing his hands. There are many problems with this. Firstly, my friend says no eye contact was made. Secondly, why would the chef want to make such eye contact unless he knew that he had done something wrong? Thirdly, the sink was evidently not in immediate use. Finally, even if everything the chef had said were true, it is still unhygienic and disgusting to leave the bathroom - and in the process touching surfaces, touching the bathroom door, opening the door to the kitchen to get to the sink and so on - without washing hands. Crucially, the chef admitted that he hadn’t washed his hands in the toilet. I explained how this was unhygienic and unprofessional. The chef was not remotely apologetic. He became aggressive towards me and asked if I hadn’t understood him. I felt intimidated and shocked. My friends and I wanted this uncomfortable situation to end and the bill was quickly paid just so we could get out of there. It is absolutely disgusting that the chef would use the toilet, and then come out of a cubicle - notably using a cubicle, not a urinal - without washing his hands. Instead of the manager coming over when I asked for this, the chef came over. Instead of an apology, I got aggression and rudeness. An appalling experience.

Great place for meal after the theatre.. Very convenient. Food good

I ordered smoky bbq chicken pizza and pesto dough balls and both of them tasted below average. It was an online delivery and both the items were cold AF. Didn't expect this from pizza express. I loved pizza express in India and thought it might taste the same or even better but I was disappointed.

Meal deal was missing the drink

So just eaten here as working away for a night. First of looking at the reviews the manager only makes comments on 4+ star reviews and in my opinion should be rectifying the poor ones. Walked in and Restaurant was cold. I asked if there was a warmer table/area. The reply was its all the same. I ordered a pizza and a beer, went to the toilet and there was a member of staff just sitting on the upstairs doing nothing. Oh it was warmer. Pizza arrived, warm not hot and a little undercooked. No one came over to ask how my meal was. I finished and asked for the bill, then had to wait quite a while before anyone came over to take payment. There was only 4 tables in the restaurant. I usually use pizza express when working away but Honestly this was poor.

I go to Pizza Express quite regularly. The food was good but service a bit hit and miss. Our order came promptly but then no-one checked if everything was ok and it took a couple of reminders to get the bill though we'd said we needed to go as we were moving on to a gig. The only let down was when I asked for extra soda water in my drink, the waiter looked confused, went away to find out and no-one came back.

the discounts just eat offered made it much cheaper than the original price, very happy

This meal was shockingly bad. Firstly it’s over priced with no information on the size of the pizza. Then the food came flat and cold with staining black char at the bottom of it

Saturday night; very busy, but staff friendly and food was good. This is a fairly small one but they had enough staff. Happy to recommend.

The cheese dough has a lot of cheese ! We have also ordered BBQ Burnt Ends pizza . We have clearly say the name BBQ burnt ends , Burns Ends only comes with beef . However, the first pizza we received its chicken . The waiter kindly help us to change it back to beef . However ,sadly the beef pizza we received only got a little amount of beef ! There is a big difference from the pizza we saw in deliveroo ! The amount of beef is too little . Moreover , even compare with the amount of chicken , the amount of beef is less than that . £16.75 a pizza this amount of beef is unacceptable.

Poor service and overpriced for quality

I had a take away and the pasta alforno was ok ISH lots of stringy mozerella and hardly any cheese sauce if any ,and pasta under done, the halloumi balls were really nice ,I dipped them in garlic butter dip ,then after had extreme stomach acid,and chocked on acid in sleep even though on meds for it then next day extreme vomiting and diarrhea and feeling unwell ,

Ridiculously expensive for what it is

honestly i’ve never been so disappointed to hear about my friends oxford road pizza express experience. She had ordered a bruschetta and upon arriving we came to the realisation that she had received a plane piece of bread. upon looking at the bread there were several slits within the bread which could have been interpreted two way. either the team at pizza express were trying to trigger my tryphopobia or alternatively the team was trying to rub in the fact that the bruschetta was missing from the bruschetta. upon calling the restaurant they denied any responsibility and instead blamed it on the driver who had supposedly eating the bruschetta. a far fetched excuse like this, accompanied with the already cold nature of the food, was enough to ward me far far from order pizza express again.

Food was freezing cold and I was sent a slice of bread instead of an actual bruschetta. And then told on the phone there was nothing the restaurant could do to resolve the issue.

A MASSIVE thank you. Me and my girlfriend had had a scare not far from this restaurant in regard to a very low wheelchair battery, meaning it needed a charge. Both of us being hungry, we killed two birds with one stone and came in for an early dinner and an opportunity to let the chair charge up. Once this was explained, they were very accommodating, making sure we had adequate space as well as a plug for the charger itself. On top of good food and good service, a workforce this accommodating for interabled couples/disabled people in general always makes me smile. We’ve been in accessible and welcoming places before, but the fact it wasn’t made to seem like a chore is such a welcoming thing. Special props to the guy who took our payment; it’s a rare treat for someone to side with us about how self- centred the people of Manchester can be. From Finley and Melike, Thank you!!

Booked a table here as we were going to the theatre, as it’s really convenient and close by. The restaurant was very busy, and I was quickly shown to the table by the helpful host. When our waiter came to take our drinks order, I explained I had a free dough balls with the app, and whilst we perused the menu, he brought out our dough balls. Due to my sister and I chatting, we kept forgetting to look at the menu, but the staff we friendly and saw as soon as we were ready. Our waiter helped my sister choose between 2 pizzas and he asked if I wanted anything adding to replace the fact I didn’t want anchovies in my salad. Great service from our waiter, who also explained how to use the app to deduct the dough balls! I didn’t get the name of the waiter, but know he was originally from Byker in the North East. He was a great waiter, very personable, knowledgeable about the menu and was generally a great waiter!

O my goodness. Came from Northern Ireland. Got pizza and chips from here . Had eight chips in box yes 8 chips price for 2 pizzas and 3 chips £47 not impressed.. folks pizza was good chips 8 chips in a box think you could do better than that !!!

The food was pretty good. I went with a group of friends, I'm not big on pizza so I had the pasta. Was a perfect size. The service was amazing and really catered to us. Very polite. One thing that lets the place down is I felt like we where on top of one another. We where really really close to the next table, it felt like I was sat on their knee

Fast delivery and very good food

Rude staff during serving, after the meal they expected a sizeable tip from us and became angry when asked to remove. We were intending on leaving a smaller tip that we were able to afford, some members of our group continued to give this staff member a tip. They are very lucky considering how we were treated. Won’t be coming to this restaurant again. Food was very good but overshadowed by this.

Very slow service despite the restaurant not being busy.

Poor. Ordered two salads, doughballs and halloumi bites. Took over 30 minutes to arrive and only got brought to the table when I walked over to where the chef and waitress were stood talking to ask where they were. Other tables which arrived after ours were getting served first. Not all food options available either. Would not go again.

Nice delivery person. Pizza was burnt in places and not as nice as usual.

We arrived with no reservation to a busy restaurant. What looked like a Manager ( male, dark hair, slim build ) was serving the table directly opposite the host point. He actively ignored us - a quick glance, heaven forbid a smile and acknowledgment would have been appropriate. Instead he went on with getting drinks for the table, practically walking by us and leaving us hanging by the door. At this point I went to find a waiter to ask if any chance of a table, as I suspected he said no. I’m not aggrieved by this, but the complete lack of any kind of guest service, interaction or hospitality by this ‘Manager’. It would have taken 5 seconds to talk to us ! Instead, I now won’t return & will advise others not to bother either - definitely not a raving fan & a poor example to the rest of the team

Went there at 5.45 on Sunday, restaurant was empty apart from 8 people over 2 tables. Couldn't seat us as every table was booked, apparently! Could only see 2 staff front of house so I assume they just didn't want the business. Otherwise their business model is serious broken to leave whole restaurant empty and not take walkins. Walked around the corner to Wagamama, which was full, they still found a table for us (4 people) food and service both great.

Dreadful. Went in around 6pm on 10.12.23, hardly anyone there. Pleasant lady seated us & took our order. About 15 mins later told a component of my starter was sold out. Offered an alternative but the doughballs were under cooked and really don't go with hummus. Time was marching on, we had to be somewhere & hoped to leave around 7. I asked a waiter where our mains were, said we had to leave in 20 mins approx, was told he would find out. He didn't come back so 5 mins later asked again, oh yeah, another 10 mins or so. We left without eating, we didn't pay either but had travelled 100 miles to see a show, now on an empty stomach. No express at this place, staff all hanging around the cooking area on their phones. Only 1 Deliveroo style order collected while we were waiting so not busy with that side of things. If you are short staffed or out of menu items, tell diners on arrival that there could be a delay or you don't have something.

Good initial service, main course out quick but no subsequent service at all for additional drinks, desserts or coffees. Even payment required our flagging someone to the till. So unfortunately a lack of staffing, 5 or 6 only visible front of house, prevented both additional spend and an excellent rating as we enjoyed what we ordered and really fancied a pudding and coffee. Shame.

Could have been a bad night, or something could have happened to upset the staff, but we really didn’t feel welcome on what seemed to be a quiet night in the restaurant. Food was fine but we left feeling pretty glum at the downbeat service, forgotten orders and long delays. Can see a few reviews recently on the same subject so may need looking at.

a quiet wednesday afternoon meant we were the only diners at the time. Pizza and wine were all good and the staff were great in being super patient with us as we were chatting so much and taking an age to decide.

We were in from the US, tired and hungry and Pizza Express was recommended. Yes we ordered an American Hot, but man it was great! It was cool cutting our own pizza with a very sharp pizza cutter. The beer selection wasn't huge but it was good and local. It's a cool family friendly atmosphere and our waitress Anais was world class with great suggestions. I highly recommend this spot! Go check them out this weekend.

It was really busy when we went but I was really impressed with how quick the food arrived and the service was great, lovely staff.

Had dinner her alone in October 23. Excellent service and the usual consistently good standard of food for Pizza Express. I often visit Pizza Express for dinner alone when travelling for work because they’re generally well set up for solo diners and you can either get in and out quickly or choose to linger. Also saved nearly £15 today with the app so it was very good value. Would definitely return.

The Chips weren’t cooked they were whist soft and saggy and the pizza had hardly any tomato base so was quite dry

We walked 15 minutes to get to the restaurant - arrived around 21:10 and was refused seating as there was shortage of staff! How is that my problem?

Despite some of the poor reviews here we had a lovely experience on the 23rd . We had been to the theatre matinee as a family of 7 and booked in afterwards. We were looked after by the lovely funny Katie who was a joy from start to finish. We had someone with dietary needs and she ensured they found something suitable, very attentive through the whole time and even surprised one of the guests with some cake as it was her 70th. The food was delicious. We had pizzas and salads in the main and couldn’t fault it. It is in a busy spot but you would not have known so I can only give it good reviews.

Rude and abrupt staff. Got served our starters and waited for table to be cleared for half an hour before we had to wait further for the mains. Wasn’t asked how our food at any time during the meal. Asked for the bill and felt judged for doing so. No condiments on the table, smashed glass at the start of the night by staff went all under our table with no apology. Overall this is the worst pizza express I have been in. Definitely will not be returning.

This time at this one on Oxford Street. It was just ok nothing special. Service could be better. Had trouble trying to get someone's attention. Pizza was ok but there was a lack of cheese and tomato on it. 2 beers 2 pizzas £50 so it wasn't cheap. Not sure I would return in a hurry. The one on king street is a lot better.

Despite a half empty restaurant, the server insisted on looking around and wonder if we had a reservation. Normal people start the conversation with 'we have a reservation.......' Then we were seated at a dirty table having been asked by another server if they could help? Sever 3 asked if they could take an order. Oops their app had crashed so they weren't able to do this. So they came back and server 2 other tables then finally got to us. Can we have a mozzarella starter and a florentina pizza.... No we have no eggs. Apparently being next door to a supermarket means they can not possibly buy an egg. So despite no main order being taken a starter arrived. So whilst eating the starter we were asked to order another main. Lovely.

Loved the pizza, I was looking for a gluten free food and the place was just showing in Google maps with good reviews so I went to try it 👍no regrets

Over priced and poor quality. Only really worth going to spend Tesco vouchers. In a city full of independent or small business pizzerias, choose somewhere else! Serving staff were lovely, but the manager who was stood at the front door had an awful manner and asked for a member of staff ‘to come deal with us’ because he was too busy - was lovely to have been dealt with!

Noisy, modern place. I liked the old venue near the Midland Hotel. The Romana American Hot pizzas could not have been any thinner and the chillies were sweet. Gone are the good old days when their pizzas were fab. Have been fan since the 1970s but not again. They have sold their soul.

Food was great we had gluten free base and was yummy. The service was amazing, lovely woman. Would go back just from the service we received.

We have just had a lovely meal at Pizza Express on Oxford Street in Manchester. The food was lovely, service was friendly and efficient and nothing too much trouble. Would highly recommend and would definitely return.

We visited on Friday evening and were served by Danny. He couldn’t do enough to help us. He was so polite and his customer service was next level. He is a credit to the restaurant.

4 April called into Pizza Express, wasn’t busy but was kept waiting. No problem plenty of time. Was shown to the table with menu, was so shocked at the price increase that we left without eating. I’m unable to accept that two pizzas would cost in excess of £30. Never have we walked out of a restaurant before, we couldn’t justify the prices. Even with the COL increases this seems extreme for a pizza to us.

Excellent pizza, thin crispy with enough tasty toppings. Service was great Jakob was fab. Really nice atmosphere. Very enjoyable.

The restaurant was very busy when we arrived, but we were quickly shown to a table. Service was brisk, efficient and friendly. We chose 2 pizzas from the Classic range and a mixed salad. The pizzas were great and the salad amazing, very fresh, full of heritage tomatoes and well dressed. All washed down with 2 glasses of wine. I paid online at the table and left happy. However, when I rechecked the emailed receipt I noticed that while the advertised 2 Classic pizzas for £14.95 had been adjusted on the bill, the service charge added was 17.5%. Admit it was my fault for not scrutinising the bill at the time, but the service charge was rather unexpected.

When we first arrived and sat down the two guys in the open kitchen were shouting at each other - that should have warned us of the quality of the evening to follow. We both ordered pizza at around £15 each. When they arrived they were stone cold, under-cooked and barely had any toppings. When we pointed this out to the waiter he took them away and said they would replace them. 5 minutes later the exact same pizzas arrived back - this time over-cooked and without any additional toppings. We ate what we could as we just wanted to get out and go for a pint. When the waiter asked if everything was OK was gave him feedback saying how disappointing the meal had been he said 'ok - i'll pass that on'. He then charged us full price so £80 for a terrible meal. Shocking.

Delicious but the pizza was cold.

Visited this restaurant on Saturday and the attitude of the man co-ordinating the tables was appalling. I asked if they could arrange me a pizza without cheese due to a health condition before I was seated. He showed us to the table and said 'you shouldn't be eating pizza if you don't like cheese' . Later on I asked him if he could move us to the window table as it was extremely cold where we were sat. He threw an absolute tantrum and slammed my drink down. Does this 'gentleman' appreciate that we are paying customers and deserve to be treated with respect. The person needs to be trained in decent customer care.

Can't say I was impressed. Incredibly thin large pizza for £16+, sparse on the toppings. I think the box it came in weighed more. Though it was actually quite flavourful.. I won't be using again.

Visited last Friday night with my husband before going to the Belinda Carlisle concert at Manchester academy. Seriously our waiter was the best ever. I’d would have been poaching him if I had my own business. The restaurant was full, luckily we had booked. He took our drinks order straight way and took the food order without needing to write it down. He was polite, professional, attentive and friendly. A real assets to the business. Food was great as always, probably one of the best pizza expresses we have visited.
