Great pub, v handy for friends and relatives of patients at The Christie Hospital. Huge, secure beer garden and outside bar. Lovely choice on the menu with options for every type of diet. My family had a lovely meal here which was a welcome bit of relaxation away from the stress of our time in The Christie.

Well overpriced for the amount and quality of food. £15 for a chicken "flatbread" (wrap) leaves you hungry, more like a 5 quid wrap with chips elsewhere, tarted up a bit. Dessert is mass made. Nice place and staff. Good for a drink only.

Some 50 years ago I first visited this pub. I tried to explain to Paulicarus that back in the 70's this then Marston's pub had a country vibe. It is now a J W Lees pub..why did Marston's sell this Gold Mine!. The Landlord then was Noel Burrows, a champion Crown Green bowler. To step on the hallowed grass was a sin. It is now a beer garden and kids play pen. Still a very busy pub selling pub grub. I think it lost some charm. Huge pub..has some cosy corners. No TV's..unlike last visit.

Lovely pub. In terms of food - you get what you pay for. Pricier options are decent - such as the vegan burger. Vegan balls were not as good but still fine. Drinks are good and reasonable prices - no raspberry vodka though. Nice calm atmosphere, music is a low-medium volume, optimal for easy conversation.

Came here for a roast on Sunday and there was a wide variety of meats included such as beef, chicken and gammon. I chose gammon and it was lovely. Bottomless gravy and Yorkshire pudding were included which is great however I chose an extra side of pigs in blankets and they were slightly undercooked. The staff were great and very attending and the cleanliness of the pub was great.

Lovely, wholesome vibe. Large beer garden which is great in summer. Great menu too they have a wide variety and everything i’ve had has been tasty. The Sunday roast was tasty and came out in good time. Staff were nice but they seemed stressed which made them a little disengaged. Overall great place and would recommend. Was a little pricey but it was reasonable for what was provided. Car park is small so not good for large cars.

This was the first time that my wife and I had been to this public house and were pleasantly surprised, so much so that we returned the following day. Finally managed to return after four years. The pub has been taken over by Lees and refurbished quite well. Beers [real ales] are different and varied, but quite good, food and service good too. Prices alas are somewhat higher, but not as high as some Lees pubs. 2019 (this one of two pubs locally sold by Marston's during Covid). Kitchen shut early, left to dine elsewhere ☹

We went here as it was in the village mum 80 grew up in as a girl and she hadn't been for over 30 years It was very quiet but usual pub restaurant atmosphere staff polite and friendly. I also had my eldest boy 9 and toddler 22 months old only. Food was good but only complaint and it isn't a bad one is we had the Sunday roast dinner £15, but the beef was very thick cut about 2 large 6mm thick and kids had burgers and chips with "free ice cream" £9 each and drinks weren't too expensive I had pint of coke £2.50 mum had 1/2 larger shandy £3.25 kids had tap water free.

Updated review Met a friend for food at 6pm. Went to choose something off the 2 for £17.95 menu. Was told that ended at 5pm. So why have the menus on the table? No indication of timed service on the actual menu itself. I Ordered the Tandoori chicken sizzler, which wasn't Tandoori at all. Just normal roast chicken on the hot plate. I get something similar from Co-op. Napkins wrapped around wet cutlery. Won't be eating here again

Great food! Friendly staff. My only criticism is that they sometimes serve food on planks of wood when a plate would be (IS ALWAYS!) more appropriate. Come on guys there's no need for this - it adds nothing to the food but definitely takes away from the dining experience! Plates naturally have a lipped edge that catches sauces and stops chips from rolling onto the table. PLEASE PRESENT FOOD ON PLATES!

Staff were not very accommodating. Me and my friend were given beef burgers instead of veggie ones when I have never eaten meat and my friend is allergic to dairy, so found this quite disappointing. It was then a long wait for the correct meal, by then the rest of our group had finished. This would be an understandable mistake except no apologies were given and when asked for at least a free drink to compensate, we were rudely ignored (by who I assume was the manager). Shame because the pub garden is lovely but I won’t be returning.

The pie was smaller than expected but tasty, salad pretty good. Desserts from frozen, a bit watery and not special at all. Might as well scrub all the sports reviewers on here as there's some ssn overview show at the front but nothing elsewhere seen even during listed big live match. Since refurb trying to be one of these gastropubs chasing the profit margins just like that, can't blame them really but frankly for that loads of other places are a lot better for that generally. They had a bit of a good niche and are now moving away from it.
