Had a lovely meal before the show at the Palace.

Excellent meal, highly recommend.

Disappointing. The bill was split up between the group but one person also ended up paying the service charge for the group. Unfortunately this was not noticed until later.

Superb pre-show meal. Speedy but delicious. lasagne and carbonara. Would definitely go again.

We made a reservation on their website for January 1st at 1:30pm. We even received a mail during the morning to confirm the reservation but when we arrived there we were greated by a closed door with a sign "Sorry we are closed". We tried again, without a reservation, on the night of January 1st at about 9pm, but when we arrived we were greeted by a man who told us the kitchen was closed, right after he took the order at one of the (few) tables occupied. Totally unprofessional behaviour.

There is nothing Italian about it. We ordered pizza and it had nothing to do with a real Italian pizza.

The food is outstanding and beautifully presented. The staff has an eye on every finger and serve you with a smile There is a very good and relaxed "hygge" atmosphere in the restaurant

Stumbled across this place when looking for somewhere to eat with my wife and son.A very enjoyable experience.Food and service were top notch.Nice friendly atmosphere and staff very courteous and polite. Portions were very generous and food was excellent.Would highly recommend

Best lasanga and garlic bread with cheese

Food was very average taking into account the high prices. The service was okay but I dislike ebign asked if I want to contribute a service charge out loud in the middle of the restaurant. If it's on the bill I pay it but making a whole scene is off-putting.

One of our usual “Go toos” whenever we’re in Manc, I booked way in advance for our 21st wedding anniversary and unfortunately this time the food and service was way short of expectations and usual standards. I had to send my food back and whilst the Manager offered a swift discount I explained I wasn’t after something for free I felt the kitchen needed to be told what the issue was. The Manager didn’t seem to like this and we felt we were then cold shouldered for the remainder of the evening which we eventually cut short. Other diners were being offered free shots and we didn’t get anything , our anniversary wasn’t acknowledged and even after offering there was no reduction from the bill, We ordered a desert which they could have offered complimentary as a gesture but they didn’t. So all in all 2 starters 2 mains one sent back the other sub standard. 2 ice creams and a mediocre bottle of red £172 Needless to say we won’t be going back again It seems most of the Italian restaurants in the area don’t care about their customers as they are so busy they somehow manage to forget that it’s people like us who keep them going in the quiet times.

It's a warm-hearted, happy place to eat.

Attended for my works Xmas do. The staff was lovely, the food was gorgeous. We booked in for 7pm so after the theatre rush. The place was still busy, however it wasn't really noisy with loads of background chatter. Which we wanted as we were a big group so wanted to find a place we could eat and all hear each other. I will definitely be returning.

Great service. Great food. Italian as it gets. If you want Italian, go there. Owner talked Italian mafia English so the feeling was even better as all his language was awesome!

We were staying at a nearby hotel as we were in Manchester for a concert. It was 3 pm on a Sunday but our hotels restaurant was fully booked. We came across this place by accident, lucky us. Fitted us in with no booking but needed the table within a couple of hours which suited us. Food was excellent, great service and friendly staff. Not sure if it is family owned but felt it. Highly recommend.

Food was fresh ingredients and excellent quality, staff very attentive nothing was too much, Sophia our waitress was excellent and very welcoming would highly recommend

We went here on the off chance they had seats before hitting the theatre and they did. We ordered a 2 course meal which was beautiful, the pizza was huge! Staff was friendly. Seats were a little cramped but it was nicely decorated throughout.

Gold star for excellent service under duress (problem with water supply across the area). Tasty seafood pizza, and light as a feather tiramisu. Staff treated us well and retained a sense of humour while working hard under trying circumstances.

Seriously good food and generous portions. Service very friendly. Recognized our faces second time around and even remembered what one from the group had had 😊

Food was fine, service was fine and staff were friendly. Won’t return until someone takes the bell off the chef- surprised it still works! Warning for future guests- don’t sit in the back room near the kitchen .

Great place for pre theatre food..

Lovely, welcoming staff who were always happy to go out of their way for you. The environment was very clean and clearly cared for. Food was delicious!

My fiancée and I were going to a show at the Palace Theatre around the corner and went for dinner before hand. I liked the venue and the atmosphere, the food was excellent and the staff were very good too. We had calamari each to start, she had spaghetti bolognaise and I a Calzone for main and shared a tiramisu for desert. The restaurant was excellent overall and I would definitely consider going back next time we're on a date in Manchester or seeing something at the theatre. I'd recommend.

It excels in atmosphere and service, even if the food falls a bit short. The staff is warm and attentive, and the cozy decor creates a perfect setting for a relaxed night out. While still tasty, the dishes didn’t fully deliver on flavour and drink prices are bizarre (£7 for an after dinner limoncello which is usually complementary or less than £5 even in upscale spots, and £13 for a large glass of wine), the inviting ambiance and exceptional service from the entire team make it a place I’d still consider revisiting. With a bit of improvement in the kitchen and revision of drink prices, it could easily become a favorite 😊

Service was really good. Food was super outdated. I wouldn’t recommend. Worst Sea Bass I have ever had. It was more like a fish soup that’s how much sauce was there. On one top of was so vinegarish that could barely eat it. My girlfriend appetizer wasn’t prawns with salad. It was mayo with salad and prawns. Nevertheless service was amazing O do believe that if they change a menu it can be a great place.

First time here, found it online as was near the academy- which was the reason we were in Manchester. From the the minute we stepped through the door the staff were brilliant. Menu was everything you’d expect and more from an Italian restaurant. Lovely vibe , great service and food was 10/10. We will certainly be going back again.

It's a very busy place and the food was fine but a lot of tables are in a small place so it's a bit of a squeeze.

£72 for 2x garlic mushrooms….that were dreadful, a garlic bread, 1 lasagne with bog standard ingredients. I beer and 2 wines. Service ok but food slow and very average at best.

Had a pre show dinner here and was not dissapointed it was delish.

Very friendly Italian staff in a long established eatery offering a genuine Italian experience. Very handy for the theatres.

I have visited this restaurant many times when visiting Manchester on a theatre trip, and have always enjoyed the delicious food. This time the food was lovely as always, but our visit was somewhat spoiled with the service. We waited an age to order drinks - there was a VERY LOUD waitress called Sophia I think (Irish girl) who was just way over the top. She was incredibly loud and one of the reasons we waited so long was the length of time she took to serve the table next to us because of the constant flirting with one of the guests. I'm all for interacting and having a laugh with customers but it was ridiculous. It won't stop me visiting again and hopefully she won't be there......

Good food but very poor & chaotic service. Some staff wandering about not sure what to do & others running around being very dramatic with the “head” waiter stropping, huffing & banging or throwing things on the desk.

Busy vibrant place with a good atmosphere and decent food albeit a bit pricey (£29.00 for a bottle of wine, £23.95 for Lobster Ravioli?). The limited choice pre-dinner menu was £25.95 for two courses but desserts and drinks/coffees push this up somewhat. Overall very nice. Only downside is it's location. Central Manchester is a congested nightmare whether driving or in a taxi. The council obviously don't want motorists.

First visit here with friends. Excellent value pre theatre menu and great, friendly service. My other half recommends the tiramisu if you have room .... portions are good.

What a special and special place to be before the theatre. Daddy -Daughter Day, and a fabulous way to start our day. Ace.

Never been before. Work team meal on our visit to Manchester. The manager was very welcoming and happy to have a quick chat as we got seated. Staff were knowledgeable about the food and really friendly. There is a great variety of meals on offer here. Chicken and rice dish was so fresh and filling. The freshly made pizzas were perfectly cooked and there was plenty of garlic bread to go around the group. The meatballs were very popular with the group and pasta dishes. There was a great atmosphere all round and we didn't feel rushed at all even though we seemed to chat amongst ourselves for ages and the restaurant filled up without us really noticing! Prices were very reasonable, especially with the food quality, service and we all had plenty of drinks. You do have to go down a set of stairs to get into the restaurant, I walk with a stick and did manage easily, so it's not too badbut would obviously be a problem for a wheelchair user.

Most authentic Italian in Manchester, avoid walking 10 mins to the high street for the chains! Service was incredible, and we received a free starter on the house. It’s a rarity to see all of the staff genuinely happy to be there, I think this is a credit to the owner you can tell he takes a lot of pride in this restaurant! 10/10 recommendation

Celebrated my graduation here. AMAZING staff made us feel so welcome and made a big deal about my graduation. Friendly, funny and attentive. Food was really delicious and portion sizes brilliant. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a down to earth atmosphere and proper delicious Italian food. 10/10

Special outing for 70th birthday 🎂 After going to an afternoon matinee at the Palace theatre we wanted a restaurant near Oxford Road train station and the theatre. Giorgio's is literally round the corner within a short walk. We had booked which we were glad we did; very popular. Starter and main - delicious. The service was excellent and very quick with a warm smile by all staff. Very full and couldn't manage the delicious looking sweet. Thank you - loved the outing and experience for a special day.

The food was ok the service however was poor. Meals on both courses were delivered and obviously had been forgotten. When enquiring politely about where they were, rather than being apologetic we were met with a surly and rude response.

Worst food we have eaten, microwave meals are better than what they serve ! The chicken breast was so hard, they think large portions make up for the poor quality of the food. The majority of the staff don't know what they are doing, not sure if they got them to cover from standing at the bus stop opposite and the manager (blue shirt) was stressed and not very friendly. Never going again !

What a wonderful find this was, thanks to a local cafe owner, who we had asked to recommend a ‘nice eatery’. We attended prior to going to see a matinee at the theatre. We were made extremely welcome by the staff and the food, we all agreed was amazing. So glad the lady in the cafe suggested ‘The Italian around the corner’. I think next time any of us are in Manchester we will return - I certainly will, thank you from four very happy ladies.

We called here for lunch on a rainy Saturday. The service was really friendly and fun. The food was just amazing! Authentic, fresh and delicious. Would recommend and will return.

Stumbled on this restaurant at around 8pm on a weekday when I was craving pasta I'm glad I chose this over Pizza Express.

This was my first time dining at this Italian restaurant, and I am thoroughly impressed. The politeness, beautiful smiling faces, and attention to the guest are commendable. The service was smooth and the food was very tasty. The manager and two ladies make a fabulous team, ensuring a delightful experience for every guest. I did not wait more than a few minutes for a drink, and my beautifully prepared chicken melanzane arrived quicker than expected. The fantastic service, combined with a delicious Italian meal, guarantees that I will come again.

Fantastic meal, great service, amazing staff. Second time here for a meal, Sea Bass, Lasagne, Cannelloni and Carbonara were amazing. Staff are so lovely, enjoy the crystals. 🙏

I had the Costolette Italiane £9.95 (3 tiny skinny ribs). & Steak Diane £36.95. Didn’t like the steak sauce but the bbq sauce from the ribs saved the day. The food was good. But at these prices I’m good.

Fabulous Italian food, everything we had was lovely, left feeling full and happy , attentive friendly staff and a nice relaxing atmosphere, can't wait to sample more of the menu!

Had a lovely time last night. The host/owner? Made sure I was well taken care of, as he did with all other guests. The caprese salad was excellent with avocado in it! The Arabiatta pasta though was amazing. I never thought I would eat half of it and almost ate all of it! The best I have had. A nice small comfortable spot

First visit and very impressed with the service and the quality never mind the size of the meals. Man sized! The lobster ravioli special was wonderful.

This was a wonderful experience from start to finish as a last minute booking for my daughter’s birthday. The food was some of the best we’ve eaten anywhere. Service was perfect - friendly but not intrusive and it had the atmosphere of a place where everyone knew they were going to have a good meal. The man at the table next door told us he always ate there when coming to Manchester for business. Next time we’re in the city, we’ll be back.

First visit, service and food fantastic we will definitely go back

We are down in Manchester from Glasgow for a concert in the new CO-OP Arena. Out for a walk around Manchester early on a Monday evening, getting hungry opened Google maps to see an Italian restaurant, kept walking looking in a few, looking at some until we came across Giorgio on Portland Street. Looked very nice inside and we went in. Our meals arrived and were absolutely delicious. Service was second to none. When we went in it was a Monday 6pm and by the time we left 7.45pm. It had went from only two tables being used to full, so I imagine it would be a very busy place most of the time. Highest marks to the owners and staff. Thank you for a delicious meal.

As fans of italian cuisine and avid travellers to Italy, I booked a table at Gio in Manchester. This turned out to be a fantastic decision. The main course, one Pasta one steak, was perfect, and I don't mean English perfect. I mean Italian perfect. The owner, who is very invested in the customer experience, not only served us but exceeded this level and made our dining experience just that an experience. I'd recommend anyone who is a conneseur of Italian dining to visit Geo in Manchester.

The waiter as I belive he was the manager . Unpleasant and not nice he was not smiling and I felt like I'm in prison around him. He was loud and unprofessional. On the other hand the waiter which it was a girl with nice tatooes, she was nice smiling just amazing.

This spot was one of the best meals we had on our 2 week UK tour. Staff was friendly, outgoing, and the food was delicious. North American friends be warned -- the 'garlic bread' starter is actually an 18" lovely thin crust pizza oozing in cheese. So good! It's a large dish though, so we ordered half portions of penne and the special: a mushroom cream gnocchi that was outstanding. Even with pre and post dinner drinks, and shared dessert, it was still extremely good value! Highly recommend.

Charming Italian restaurant, with welcoming staff which made the whole experience a whole lot better! The food was great and fresh, authentic Italian. Would absolutely recommend and return if we had the chance.

Not impressed. The food was quite a disapointment. Not well prepared/cooked. We got in to the restaurant after 9pm, which might be the reason for not delivering. The feeling is that the chef had already gone home.

Bad value for money. Much too expensive. Very small entrances. Limonchello poor quality.

Lovely restaurant however staff shortages impacted slightly on service, when paying the bill. Food was good, despite an initial mixed up on one order, which was the rectified.

The people are genuine, happy to help and lovely with whoever came in. The food is the best Italian food I’ve ever had and was topped off with phenomenal service. The atmosphere is intimate and comforting. Please go to this restaurant it’s so worth it

Wow!! The perfect way to celebrate my boyfriends new job!! The staff were absolutely amazing and the food was to dieeee for... perfect temperature and we were even offered abit of waiting time to digest our starters!! Something i dont often see in restaurants especially in manchester. Will 1000% be coming again :))

Gave me food poisoning! Tasted nice while I was eating and I’m unsure what did it to me. I had the spaghetti arabella (I think that’s what it’s called), garlic bread, fries, and a chocolate fudge cake. I’m 90% sure that it was the pasta that made me feel this way. I was awake from 5am-10am throwing up every 10 minutes. This has really put me off eating here again and my friends love it. What a shame!

Great Italian in the heart of Manchester, didn't know this place existed before visiting even though I've passed it for years. Great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, lovely food with plenty of choice. Will definitely be visiting again

So I point out that it is a restaurant that makes pseudo-Italian food for the English but there is nothing ITALIAN to say the least first point... second point the garlic and the ingredient also used to give flavor to the water, third for those who want to eat well don't stop by here.. in all of this for two pizzas and two beers I spent 48 pounds never again 👋

I’m in Manchester and looking for a quick Italian, so tried gorgio . A very busy traditional Italian. I had chicken in cream sauce with mushrooms chips and veg. Very nice. Very friendly owner maitre de. Good for a meal before the theatre which is close by ( palace theatre.) not a restaurant that you would go for a night out. Reasonable price.

I had booked for the pre Theater dinner at 5pm. We arrived a little early but the sign on the door said “We are open, come in.” So we did. On entering a very grumpy, brusque waiter showed ourselves and another party to our tables, chuntering away saying they were not open yet. Our table was probably the worst in the restaurant. Menus were unceremoniously thrown at us and then we were ignored. After some 15 minutes I had had enough and we walked out, going to nearby Turtle Bay, where we could not have been made more welcome. We come into Manchester a lot, but I will never return to this restaurant.

Seating really fast and the service was amazing. Really nice people and food was served fast. Portion sizes were really generous both the pizza and calzone were exceptional. Really great place we wish it was more local to us!

We went to this restaurant prior to going to the theatre. We had the pre theatre meal, there was a good choice. The main was tasty, and the dessert was a big portion and very nice. Service was prompt, and staff were helpful and friendly.

Good location for Palace Theatre and bars, food was good value and well made, will recommend and return

Superb food. Lovely setting and friendly staff. Not a chain restaurant but a proper authentic Italian. Best Catalonia I have ever had. Shame the wine was so expensive but didn’t spoil our night.
