The best restaurants serving Italian food in England

Old fashioned with bland food. We visited on a spur of the moment on a Thursday evening. The place was quiet at the time but even so we were left standing as the barman made up drinks without acknowledging us. After a few minutes we were seated. The menu looked OK, nothing special. Our order was taken after 10 or so minutes. I noticed that the place was filling up so it is clearly popular. The starters arrived fairly promptly. My partner had some Spicy Sicilian sausage thing in a thick sauce that, frankly tasted like an odd combination of flavours. I had calamari that was clearly from frozen with a wilted tired salad garnish. There was a long wait for mains, with my partners Neopolitan pizza being delivered first. My main didn't arrive until at least 8 minutes afterwards. The pizza was totally uninspiring. My main of chicken in sauce, while plentiful, was bland with little flavour. The addition of some fresh herbs could have lifted it. At no point did anyone check in with us to ask if the food was OK (maybe just as well as it wasn't). We were left with no drinks as no one bothered to enquire if we wanted more. The plates weren't cleared so we decided to pay and leave. Super busy barman didn't acknowledge us again so we had to stand in the tiny bad area until he deigned to give us the (incorrect) bill. Overall, the place clearly gets busy, though I am not sure why. The decor is old-fashioned and very tired. The service is pretty poor. Worst of all though the food , based on this single visit is insipid, bland, poorly cooked and presented. One to avoid.

Service was terribly slow, didn't get our main course until we'd been sitting there for TWO HOURS! In fairness, we were a party of 11 but if they can't cater for that, they shouldn't accept such bookings. The table of four next to us waited at least an hour, and they only had pizza. My friend's meal was too salty and her fish overcooked. My calzone was supposed to come with salad, but that was just a handful of bitter, undressed rocket. The meat in my dish had gone off and tasted awful, but it was way too late in the evening to get anything else. We weren't offered coffee at the end of the meal. The serving staff were smiley and did their best, but there should have been more of them, especially for the price of the food. I don't want to visit this restaurant again.

Fantastisk mat og utrolig hyggelig service fra de ansatte. Desserten var også helt fantastisk. Anbefales tiramisuen

We were excited to try Fratelli, especially as a comparison to the other Italian across the road. We can comfortably say, the place across the street is FAR better in food, quality and service. We had a starter, main pasta and pizza to share. Starter was good, so we had high hopes. But mains lacklustre, pizza felt like an all-inclusive buffet style pizza and gnocchi ok - nothing special. Portion sizes ok. Let’s talk service. Non-existent, and a big wait on food with no communication. Any time I wanted anything, I had to get up/get someone’s attention (asking about wait times and bill). All an all, had to try but wouldn’t be coming back as locals.

Great Dinner with my wife. 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th timed always good. Took 30 people at xmas they cope well for a small restaurant. Just booked again for this Xmas. Again yesterday March 2025. Only 4 of us but still brilliant.

Calidad de la comida muy buena. El servicio y la experiencia general pobre. Servicio apresurado, no profesional ya que los platos fueron quitados cuando todos no terminaban su comida todavía. No bienvenido a la llegada ni a la salida por el gerente, demasiado ocupado hablando y divirtiéndose con otras personas, totalmente poco profesional. No repetir.

Siamo stati in questo posto leggendo le recensioni ed è proprio vero…. Pizza veramente buona, meglio di quella che fanno a Napoli. Persone gentili e si parla tranquillamente anche in italiano. Da ritornarci.

Mi esposa y yo hemos visitado Pizzastorm varias veces y realmente disfrutamos de una pizza rápida, de calidad superior.La pizza de pepperoni es genial. Las cuñas cargadas eran tal vez un poco demasiado para nosotros, pero una delicia.Todo tiene un precio razonable también, ¿qué no le gusta?

Genuinely exactly the type of pasta and cutlets that I wanted. I cannot honestly remember a meal that I’ve enjoyed more than this in London.

La Caverna has always been my "go to" restaurant and I like it because it's been the same for 40 years! Decent food, reasonably priced and a homely atmosphere

Had lunch at Oliver's last Friday. Wonderful food, very generous portions (so some food came home with us in a doggy bag) and very friendly service.
