Trevi in Islington

When I went in, the restaurant was empty. It filled up pretty quickly after. We were served very promptly. I had the house white and garlic bread and spaghetti carbonara. The portions are huge. The food is very good and well seasoned. We loved the family atmosphere.

Food is meh, service fee for no service without notice. Filed a HMRC report based on the information provided.

Fantastic service, booked online was v popular place and for good reason! They take gluten allergy so seriously even getting a new placemat and sealed cutlery! So nice knowing can eat the same as others but non gluten. Service really attentive food was delicious and perfect location on the corner of the Trevi fountain!

The food was absolutely amazing and very good value for money. Perfect local to pop into when you are in Highbury. Very good portion sizes and friendly service.

Stopped after a match at the Emirates waiting for the mob to clear out waiting for the tube. Tasty, plentiful, with superbly warm and attentive waitstaff.

The atmosphere's a little basic but the food is delicious and the service is exceptional.

I had penne arrabiata and it was tasty and good value. You should be aware though that a small glass of house wine is £7 and it tastes like vinegar. A really shocking mark-up.

So, on the outside this place doesn't look the best but on the inside it's fantastic, food is amazing, service is fast, they cater well for gluten free, and they have a really good menu. I highly recommend for anyone. Staff are really friendly aswell.

Came across this little gem of a place during our stay in London. Situated across the road from the tube we were greeted by a lovely waitress, grabbed a window table to watch the world go by & was served some delicious pasta at a very reasonable price. Top notch..👌

So expensive for terrible, inauthentic Italian in an environment that feels like you're intruding on a family gathering. When you're asked to pay £13 for a small lasagne, you'd hope for more than dry herbs, cheap pasta sheets and mediocre at best ragu. I've been here 4 times now and every time I thought I'd give them another try, but the food is appalling for the price and the restaurant is always full of family members (not Italian) scrutinising you for interrupting their social event. 3 times in a row now I've been the only customer at lunch time surrounded by at least 5 observers. I'd pay £5 for a loveless, mostly cheese lasagne in that situation but not £13. Will not be back. Update! Thanks for the response. You might want to check your prices because that's not what I was charged and not what's on your chalkboard. Thanks for mentioning the wine ... it was vinegar. Not sure whether it was an open bottle or your other customers are usually on their way to Emirates but it is really bad wine. I wish you all the best. You seem to mean well, but I'm providing my honest review which is how the world works. And to pay £15.95, which is the actual price of your set menu and £7 for a small glass of wine, is only worth 2 stars. If you read what I said earlier I mentioned that I've tried to support you by coming back 4 times. None of the other times has been above mediocre but I haven't said anything until now. And the fact you've attacked me for providing an honest and constructive review is all people should need to know. If people are willing to pay for that ... good luck to them. You need Gordon Ramsay.

Lively place for a pre match meal before an Arsenal game. Good pasta at reasonable prices and excellent service - quick when you're in a rush and still manages to be very friendly!

Nice lady serving us and very good prices for food. Unfortunately the £5.80 bottle of peroni was out of date - Dec ‘22 - 13 months ago.

Fantastic non-expensive Italian in Highbury, great to pop into for a freshly cooked pasta. The 2 course menu option was great for the price. The only issue was the food was slightly under salted, but I assume that’s so the customer can adjust it to their liking. My partner also found it a big ‘stingy’ to only offer four onion rings on a plate. Still - a definite recommendation for some ambience unique to its area, a calm away from the storm of this city we live in.

This is a charming restaurant in Highbury & Islington. Yelez, our waitress, was very witty and attentive; she elevated the entire experience. We were a large group there for a birthday celebration, and all of the food arrived promptly and together. The dishes were exquisite, and very well priced and portioned. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.

It's very hard to make great pasta. And they don't. But they do offer 10% off the bill for a good Google review, and suspiciously only take cash (so they make that back on the unpaid tax, I'd imagine).

Great place to have dinner with sister on arriving in London. Love this place. Friendly, welcoming. Top quality food, great selection including specials board and set 2 course meal. I went for traditional Spaghetti Bolognese with garlic bread, whilst my sister had Sea Bass in tomato caper sauce. Yum. Being greedy we had desert. Tiramasu and Lemon Cheesecake. Trevi’s food is delicious, every dish you get you can guarantee you will be satisfied. The staff are welcoming and friendly. It’s a small restaurant but it makes an impression!

My brother booked a table for 4 people at 6pm last night. Turned up on time to a packed restaurant. Showed them the booking confirmation on my phone only to be told that they do not accept this online booking on Arsenal match days. No apology. No explanation that they were looking into fixing this issue. Told to wait and they would try to find a table but that could take anything from 10 to 60 mins! The lack of apology and blasé attitude towards this scenario were the biggest disappointment. They had a packed restaurant so didn't care about losing a potential customer. Obviously we left and had a much better experience at Fireaway Pizza on Holloway road, which I would definitely recommend to anyone over Trevi. They are a shambles.

Trevi is an Islington institution. It looks and feels like a traditional ristorante. The food has never wavered over the years. Just good, solid, Italian home cooking.

A very enjoyable Italian restaurant whose austere decor is more than up for by the delicious 'home cooked' style of cuisine. Served with a delightful house red, or Italian beer, a very satisfying culinary experience. Especially after a home win at the Emirates and a long walk down the Holloway Road! It has a lovely family atmosphere and good VFM. Ideally situated opposite Highbury & Islington Station, its well worth a visit, or two. SG.

This place is like a time capsule...in a good way ! The decor is original since it opened in 1962 and is really cool. It's a cosy place and the staff are really nice and unpretentious. The food was nice but not fantastic and although the portion was good, a tad expensive for what it was. I really liked the feel and character of trevi and I'm sure I'll be back. It's really great that places like this still exist in amongst all the chains out there, and I hope it lasts another 60 years ! (NB: I don't know why some people are saying it's cash only, I paid with card)

In an empty Trevi Ristorante on a weekday lunch, I down my gnocchi arabiatta at breakneck pace. My mind wanders towards the crowds swarming around Pret and Starbucks outside on the highstreet and I wonder, why do the English have so little self respect?

This is one of the worst meals I’ve ever eaten, and the house wine made my face screw up in disgust. The menu was limited. My wife ordered the pasta al pollo funghi and it was… interesting. The chicken was almost certainly boiled from frozen and the mushrooms were rubbery. She had to leave half of it. I cannot recall what I ordered, only that I had to shut my eyes and power through to at least satiate my hunger. In retrospect, I’d rather have starved. The blood drained from our faces when the fridge door opened to reveal stacks and stacks of cheap margarine in lieu of butter.

My friend from Utah was craving good Italian food. We had two choices here or Trullo; I wish we were not so tired and had gone to Trullo. The bruschetta was tasty, crunchy and not overloaded but they did not give us side plates to eat it with, which I thought was odd. Our food arrived randomly my friend ordered the spaghetti bolognese and a side of vegetables; her side of vegetables never arrived and we had to remind the waitress about it. My tortellini was average and could have done with more basil leaves. My friend had a cheesecake that she liked. Was amazed out bill came to £66. I found the food average and not spectacular; maybe you need to order the specials and not the basics. Ask for tap water and they only take cash.

Eu e meu esposo tentamos pagar a conta com 3 cartões, todos com saldo suficiente e em todas as tentativas dava erro. O garçom com muita naturalidade sugeriu que eu sacasse o dinheiro no caixa do outro lado da rua. Eu saquei e paguei, mas logo em seguida resolvemos testar nossos cartões em outro estabelecimento e qual não foi nossa surpresa quando o atendente contou que esse restaurante italiano é conhecido por "forçar" as pessoas a pagarem em dinheiro para não incidir taxa do cartão. E claro, meu cartão funcionou perfeitamente depois como havia funcionado em todos os lugares que consumi desde Paris até Londres. Somente nesse lugar o cartão misteriosamente "deu problema". A comida não compensou a dor de cabeça e o nervosismo no nossa última refeição antes de ir embora do país. Eu desaconselho fortemente a ida.

I have been eating at the trevi for some time now i saw the Google sticker at the front of the window so i thought i do a review this place is really special i fill like i am at home when eating here the food is always fresh and big portions the staff are all family and friendly the family who has been running this place for years needs a little appreciation

Relaxed restaraunt vibes. But the food is similar to the ready made pasta aisle at tescos. You may as well get a supermarket ready-meal and eat it at home.
