The service was impeccable, nothing was too much trouble. Our children were treated like family and our food was delicious and thoroughly enjoyed. We will certainly return!

We booked to go there a bit last minute. But managed to get a table. It was busy when we arrived with a hen night and at least one 30th birthday. We got seated straight away.ordered the food and drink. I started with the meatballs. Very good. I would recommend. Then I had chicken, gnocchi, and parmasan. All very delicious. We had a lovely night until the music was turned up and became like a party. This is where it went wrong for us. No one came to see if we wanted anything for 30 minutes. We had to go to the bar to request the bil in the endl. We could have walked out, and I don't think anyone would have noticed or cared. I would go again, but book a lot earlier in the evening.

Fantastic local restaurant, my family and I have been here many times over the years and we always have a lovely meal. My son chooses it every year for his birthday and mine. The staff are very friendly and welcoming & nothing is too much trouble, Malou (think that’s the lady who was the manager tonight) she is a credit to the restaurant. The food was delicious as always we had garlic bread, bruschetta, sea bass, lasagne, bolognaise pasta, pizza. It all came hot, full of flavour and tasty. The sangria was none of best ones we’ve had too even better than ones from Spain. Shame there was no tiramisu or cheesecake though as had them before & both were a delight. Can’t wait to return.

Went on a music night to see and listen to Wayne Woodward Jr and James Dyer, and they were absolutely amazing. The set menu was lovely and the food was amazing, quick service despite being busy. Highly recommend this place, as always the staff were amazing

Was really looking forward to eating here, but came away feeling very, very disappointed. There were 5 of us and I had the Calamari (£8.90) to start and there was loads of it, but the homemade mayonaisse was poor. Quantity over quality?! 2 of them had the Mozarella Parcels which was lovely. I had Lamb Cutlets (£24.90) for my main and was expecting at least 5. I got 3 - which were cooked lovely but definitely not enough! Had to wait nearly 5 minutes for our sides! It came with way too much mash in my opinion and about 20 fine green beans. The Seabass Limone and the Pollo Cordon Bleu were both delicious. Backgroung music and ambience wasn't great and service was a bit erratic as only 2 waiters on a busy Tuesday night. Will not be rushing back here any time soon.

We celebrating my mum’s birthday here as a big group and we all had a wonderful time. There was a fun atmosphere, the staff were friendly and the live music was great. We all had a wonderful time. Thank you for making the day so special!

This is NOT a restaurant for couples. The music was far too loud, the manageress/owner was singing along to the music whilst serving customers, the tables are far too close and I had people bumping into my chair, mid meal. Instead of chorizo my partner had pepperoni. Delivery drivers were wandering around between tables looking for their delivery.

The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They also checked in a few times to make sure we had eveything we needed/wanted. The decor of this little restaurant is very pleasant and well laid out. The food was well presented, however some dishes were delicious, but others simply were not. They required additional seasoning and depth of flavour.

Lovely italian restaurant, definitely a hidden gem in Carshalton. Some excellent italian options - especially the veal milanese and Tiramisu. They also have a decent selection of wines which is always a bonus!

Nice venue, good service and entertainment but the food was poor. Packed restaurant with Christmas parties including ourselves, great atmosphere, hardworking service staff but let down by the poor quality food. All 3 courses tasted stale, slightly off and not that well cooked and that was the general consensus from our whole group. Such a shame.

Please please PLEASE add more vegetarian dishes!! Unfortunately there are only two to choose from. Very lovely restaurant with such helpful and warm staff.

Attended a 'music night', Wayne Woodward was singing. Service was prompt & food was tasty. The lady who manages has a terrific personality, entertaining, friendly & efficient. It's a small venue with outside, covered Dining if you are brave, inside it's warm, stylish & the staff are all welcoming &smiling. The entertainment was superb, he is a talented singer charming to his audience & covers so genres of musical taste & seems to do so effortlessly with style. Good value & a great start to the weekend.

There’s nothing remotely Italian about this place. Pizza was akin to a frozen Iceland pizza. Added capers gave it a bitter taste. My chicken dish was dry with no flavour at all. Not been for a few years, definitely not as good as it used to be. Won’t be going again. Wrote to the restaurant directly but they didn’t even respond. Staff were friendly.

Had lunch here for my sons birthday on Sunday. The food was fantastic! The servers were so friendly and attentive. Will definitely be coming again. Thank you.

Average Italian restaurant. Service from staff was good but food mediocre. I had a arrabiata pasta meal which had no spice in it at all. Even though I asked for extra spice I couldn’t taste any. Think I had better heat flavour from a packet of chilli Doritos. . Wife had some pasta meal with sauce which she said tasted like something from a can . Wouldn’t go there again

I arrived with a hopeful enthusiasm which sadly wàs where it ended. I decided to have the fiery cheese & bacon burger. Expecting a in-house made burger but obviously was not it had no texture or seasoning at , and the fiery was nowhere it be found as it was just a BBQ sauce flavour. It was edible . We decided to not have desert and I opted for mint tea & whilst I was drinking it a man approached saying we need to pay & leave as the tables booked ( there were multiple empty tables a round us ) we were in fact just going to order desserts but felt were not welcome so paid & left .

Tried to book via the web site two days at the start of this week. When the diary didn't load online, tried to phone mid week and with no answer left a message. Upon receiving call back a couple of hours later, reserved a table for two at 3pm today. At least that is what we thought! Upon arrival and having dodged through the external smokers, we arrived to what looked like a feeding frenzy at the zoo. When we eventually found a member of staff and could be heard over the feeding frenzy, no sign of our booking could be found. In any event, our booking was for a romantic birthday for two and sharing it with a zoo, was not on the agenda, so we left.

Booked a table for my mums birthday. We were greeted by the restaurant owner Joe outside the restaurant and then warmly greeted by the wonderful restaurant manager Malou. We were seated and served quickly despite the restaurant having a few large parties in that night. The food was nice and the atmosphere was nice. As always the staff were welcoming and friendly

Food was fine. The front of house was appalling. Got there at 6:20pm for a 6:30 booking. Restaurant was 85% empty. Got told by the “manager” that our table was the 2 seater by the door, clearly the worst table in the place, it was -2 outside so didn’t accept that. If we hadn’t booked 2 days previously and the restaurant was full, then we’d have possibly accepted that. Then asked if we could sit at one of the other empty 2 seaters, we got told they were all reserved. Later I asked a fellow smoker outside, sat at one of the other 2 seaters if they’d reserved their table…..they said they hadn’t?? We got offered a lovely 4 seater but got told we only had an hour and 10 minutes minutes, so we had to leave by 7:40pm. We were still there at 8pm and the restaurant wasn’t full. And nobody had arrived to take the table. As stated, the food was good, but as an experience, we felt that we’ll continue with our weekly visit to Mimi E coco in cheam. Good food, service fine, poor manager with ideas well above her station. Won’t ever return.

My friend treated me to a birthday meal. A family member recommended The Ginger Italian and its walking distance from where he lives. My friend booked a table in advance. Upon arrival the waitress seemed a bit puzzled on where to seat us. We got served quite quickly. We ordered a bottle of rosé to share. I don't normally have a starter but I decided to have the pizza dough bruschetta. The tomatoes made it taste fresh. My friend had the calamari. He said the batter was light and not too greasy. For the main we both ordered seabass and chips, served with salad, tartar sauce and a lemon wedge. The portion sizes were very generous (two pieces of fish).The batter was light. The fish was delicious and the chips were tasty.I regretted ordering a starter as I was feeling full and was hoping I had room for dessert. For desert we both ordered sticky toffee pudding. It took a while for the desserts to arrive. In the meantime I introduced my friend to pornstar martinis. When the puddings arrived they were a bit cold so I was slightly disappointed however they still tasted OK. The staff were extremely friendly. Nicely decorated and lively atmosphere.Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options.There was a young lady singing and playing the saxophone. There was music played on a player and it was too loud. I enjoy going clubbing but for a restaurant the volume was too high and I couldn't have a conversation with my friend Overall it was a good experience and I would return.

We enjoy coming to the GI fairly often as it's our nearest Italian restaurant; there's always a good atmosphere with welcoming and friendly staff and the food is good. This last time was on a rainy wet Tuesday November evening and our experience was no different. And many other people must have felt the same way as the restaurant was very busy and the atmosphere buzzing. So Joe and his team must be doing something right!

Thank you so much to Joe and team for delicious pizza, pasta and desserts, delivered outside their normal area. You made our day. We had promised ourselves a treat only to discover all the Coulsdon restaurants were closed on a Sunday. As my mum is over 80, we did not want to pick up ourselves. The food was lovely; it tasted home-cooked and fresh. The main courses arrived hot and well packaged. We were given a complimentary dessert because the tiramisu was a tiny bit broken, being the last slice. We will return!

Last minute COVID tier change meant no visit to relatives and no food in the house. Joe and his team saved our day & delivered a 3 course meal for two and it was amazing from the prawns and pate through a full turkey and lamb dinner to our fabulous desserts along with great service and great value for money can’t wait to dine in when allowed but in the mean time try a takeaway or delivery you won’t regret it and may find yourself a new local favourite go to restaurant.

Delightful staff on telephone. Easy to order. Very knowledgeable about menu and flexible with requests. Ordered three course meal for two. Faultless. Superb flavours, generous portions, arrived on time. Chilled salad was chilled, hot food was hot, veggies were perfect bite, pasta fresh and not suffered from earlier serving, fish moist. Nothing spoiled by take away format. The only improvement could be eating it there at the restaurant. We can’t wait to go there to meet them or eat from this menu again. NOT LIKE A TAKE AWAY MEAL at all. Everything freshly made from fine ingredients. I can’t stop congratulating them ....!!

Due to the new restrictions, it's hardly worth going out, especially on a dreadful wet evening. Last night we decided we weren't cooking and that we would get a takeaway. We had never ordered a delivery from here before so we're hoping it would be as nice as eating in. It was delicious.We ordered the calamari and the scallops for starters, steak for the main which was cooked just how we asked and for dessert we had the lemon cheesecake and the chocolate and coconut tart.Apart from the food being delicious, the food was delivered in good time and packed well, keeping the food hot.

Amazing as always. We have had 3 x deliveries and also had a lovely meal in the restaurant for our anniversary. The food was sublime. I have had something different every time and every meal was so tasty and fresh. My wife always has the Tagliatelle Roberto. I have had the Pork Chop which was enormous and so lovely, the ravioli, the steak and a plain pasta. The king Prawns are to die for, the garlic bread is massive and so nice, the garlic mushrooms beautiful. We have also sampled a couple of puddings I recommend the mint bomb and the Chocolate and coconut torte. I am aiming to try as much as I can from the menu. They have a very talented Chef at this restaurant and the rest of the staff are very friendly and attentive. I am dissapointed at some of the reviews on here. This restaurant can get quite busy and good on them it has been a struggle for small independent businesses to stay afloat in this current climate. You will get served and the food will be Amazing. We ordered a takeaway for my husbands Birthday Meal. Absolutely outstanding, Mexican steak & sirloin steak, with all the trimmings. Cooked to perfection, as requested. The onion rings contained thick onion, in a crispy batter, beautiful taste. Chips were cooked to perfection, the garlic mushrooms were cooked in garlic and butter, highly flavoured we adored the taste. The steaks melted in our mouths, which was accompanied by an extra side of melted garlic butter. This was perfect. The containers which the food was delivered were of a very high standard, even posh, the attention to detail was marvellous. One could eat from the containers they were so posh. I highly, highly recommend The Ginger Italian.Thank you for cooking us a special meal to celebrate my husband's birthday.

It was the 1st time we’ve been out to eat since lockdown. The staff were so friendly and the food and cocktails were great. I would thoroughly recommend this place and will be returning

I went to The Ginger Italian with my family. We started off with the Arancini ragu and the Garlic bread, it was Lovely and a really nice starter, sadly I did not take a picture of it. For the main I ordered the lasagna and it was one of the best lasagna’s I’ve ever had ! It was just perfect. My family order the lasagna as well and the spicy meet ball pizza which they enjoyed very much as well. For dessert, I ordered the coconut and chocolate tart was which lovely ! It was recommended to me by a family member and I recommend it as well. My family members ordered the lemon sorbet and lemon cheesecake. The lemon sorbet was just right it wasn’t too sweet nor too sour. I didn’t try the cheesecake but my family member seemed to ! Considering there is a global pandemic going around, the service was really good. It was all planned out lovely and the staff were the best ! I DEFINITELY recommend The Ginger Italian as it is such a lovely place to eat! The tables were kept apart for social distancing, the doors were open and the fans were on.

Midweek meal and was lovely to see the restaurant so busy. The food as always was tasty and great portions. There were 4 of us and we all had something different and it didn’t disappoint. However we did turn up to a table not ready for us, sat along time to get offered drinks and then the wine was warm. The girls seemed to be struggling a bit to give that professional service even tho I’ve gotta add they are all very friendly and sweet. We had food passed over our laps, drinks forgotten and muddled up knifes and forks forgotten etc. I will definitely be back for the delicious food and friendly welcome tho.

Lovely food as usual but complete scam. ‘Consistent complaints throughout the evening’ but the manager didn’t think to tell us they’re no longer on the government scheme (knowing that we were a pre-booking.) Locking people in, letting them eat and then landing the bill - seems like a con. Hoping this review will be a warning to others as the manager definitely won’t tell you!!

My daughter booked a table for a weekday treat, partly because they were advertised as part of the discount scheme.We had to wait almost 20mins for a table as it was busy and the manager was dealing with a complaint.Apology for delay accepted. We sat down to a lovely meal. Garlic pizza dough and a special 'rice ball' to start, then 4x different pizzas. Service was very slow, with starter taking over 90mins. However all the pizzas were hot and really tasty.Our bill didnt show the 50% discount so we queried with the waitress. She agreed it was bad. The restaurant had been on the government scheme but was now withdrawn and therefore we were no longer eligible. She apologised and stated that she'd already dealt with 3x unhappy customers.I feel bad, this is a wonderful independent but customers should be aware and unfortunately noone is going to tell you till you've eaten.

Just moved to the area and booked a table for 3 for our first venture out since lockdown. Great local vibe, friendly staff, tasty food, good wine and all while keeping nice and covid secure. We'll definitely be back soon to try the tiramisu! 😊

Being a fan of Italian food and Italy. I am very particular especially when it comes to a Margherita pizza. We have eaten pizza from the home of pizza, Naples .. and I have to question if we’ve gone to the right place. This little gem cooks a beautiful pizza ( one of my favourites) while providing the perfect, attentive dining experience( everyone loved their food). I just couldn’t fault it! Check this ginger Italian experience part of London out! I should have taken photos but it was just too good!!

Lovely atmosphere and great food. All covid rules being followed which was reassuring. The pizzas were amazing and the homemade lemon cheesecake was divine! Service was good - what’s not to like? We’ll definitely be back!

After being in lockdown for so long we decided to order a take away as a little treat from our local Italian. Spaghetti bolognese was delicious, so was the chicken Valdostana. The garlic bread just amazing.The best part of the takeaway, was that we were able to order a portion of gluten free pasta, for hubby who only wanted something light to eat, so we were all able to enjoy the takeaway. Everything delivered in time and food piping hot.Thank you to all the staff at Ginger Italian!!!

Had takeaway delivery from here... very disappointed as it wasn’t good at all. Calamari fries an onion rings soggy from being in a Tupperware container plus a lot of oil in bottom. Pasta was basic and garlic bread was just a thin biscuit like pizza base. Was expecting so much more from reviews seen before

We have eaten at this resturant many times before and was hoping to be back here for our 5 year anniversary. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak we decided to try the takeaway for the first time.We were really impressed by are meals, just as tasty as they always our when eating in the restaurant and the mains were delivered hot, which often isn't the case with takeaway meals.We will certainly be back at The Ginger Italian soon but if we're not able to get a table at any time, we will certain order another takeaway.

Unable to visit this lovely restaurant for our anniversary, we decided to have our dinner come to us. Joe and the team have made the best of this challenging time we are living in and the best was certainly delivered! Dinner was delicious complete with our preferred bottle of wine. Our own little restaurant at home, that’s not to say we will not be back to the restaurant when everything is ‘back to normal’. But for now, this is a great alternative, fantastic food, friendly helpful staff as always and delivered on time with a smile. Thankyou also for our anniversary card!

We have been customers of the restaurant for a number of years and it’s always been first class. Tonight we used the takeaway service and it was simply amazing. The order was taken by such nice people who couldn’t have been more helpful. We collected the food and had a gourmet experience at home. We have been using this Italian Restaurant for a number of years and have always found the food, staff absolutely wonderful - they are all friendly, professional and always ready to help.Recently we held my husband Dereks 70th birthday at Joe's place - He really did us proud - he provided a singer - excellent service - scrummy food and lots of fun.I can truly say that I would always choose Joe's restaurant. He organised everything for us - in esactly the way we wanted. My 45 friends and family who joined us are still laughing and talking about the occasion. Thank you Joe and your fantastic staff.

Myself and my flat mate decided to try this place as it’s local. Firstly we loved the desserts and atmosphere along with great service. However our mains weren’t great. They were very bland with not a lot of flavour and also didn’t agree with us the next day. The calamari was very typical nothing different. Overall ok

What a great place!Just an evening out with a group of friends mid week and we had such a lovely time in this restaurant. The staff were like a family and treated us like we were family too. The food was amazing, really tasty, beautifully presented without being overboard fancy and extremely generous portion sizes. You’d expect to get great pizza from an Italian restaurant and this restaurant met my expectations, the pizza dough was perfection, freshly prepared and baked beautifully, served piping hot from the pizza oven. I’m looking forward to going again and again until I’ve made my way through the whole menu....and so are my friends.

I’ve never been here before and I’m very impressed with the staff, the service and evening event, Ella, Ella, Amy, ed, are the Most AMAZING staff I’ve ever seen. I’m majorly impressed. Joe you have built a great team who are hard working and dedicated to your restaurant. They all made sure we had the best night and we were their number one priority. Thank you for a great night for my family and thank your team massively. We felt so welcome from you and your staff.

I was quite cross to read a sniffy review comparing this restaurant unfavourably to Umbrian cuisine. Doh! You're in Carshalton!! Yes Vinotecca up the road is miles more authentic (and v delicious) but quite frankly, I don't care. Do I get an authentic Indian or Chinese in Surrey!? Hardly! This restaurant delivers its own take on Italian food, with its own twist. Did I enjoy my food? Yes. Was the service friendly, efficient and personal? Yes. Did I have a good time? Yes. Well worth a visit, just don't expect arrancini and vongole but plenty of meat, fish, pasta and pizza.

I know I have been spoilt by regularly experiencing Umbrias cuisine and wines but I can also say there are definitely better Italian restaurants in the area than this one.

Lovely atmosphere very friendly, great food choice and everything was ABSOLUTELY DELISH. Plenty to choose from. Parking could be a little tough but wouldn’t deter me. Seating in and outside.

We actually come from Essex, but was introduced to ‘Ginger Italian’ from a friend who lives close by. We now visit when in the area. Being of Italian descent, I’m probably a tad more critical of Italian food, but I can assure you, the food here is particularly authentic. Joe has gone out of his way to select the very best dishes from different areas of Italy. Always cooked beautifully and with love, don’t miss this absolute Maserati of a restaurant. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good fresh food. I had Calamari and Sea Bass, was cooked perfectly. Homemade Tiramasu was lovely although I was stuffed by dessert!
