Myself and my wife went for lunch, yesterday the 7th July. We both had the fish supper meal and found it to be the best we ever had. So many restaurants, hotel's,cafe and carry outs tell you it's Cold,so many times we have been disappointed so we vote with our feet and don't go back are order something else This was diffently Cod at it's best. We sat in the front of the cafe beside bakery, the girl who served us was excellent,so nice to see someone who are pleasent and professional, also noted a young guy servicing and he was also excellent. No doubt next time in Newry we will return and will have no hesitation in recommending The Shelbourne. Keep up the good work. Chris & Jackie Bleary Portadown S

i always try and come to this restaurant when i'm in Belfast, making the effort irrespective of where I'm visiting at in the city. it has never disappointmed, the food is always good, well cooked and well presented. the waitresses do their job well. today i had the hot brisket sandwich on sourdough bread and it was delicious. we got a table pretty quickly which was good for a Saturday lunchtime and the waitresses were very helpful as my friend has just had knee surgery and needed a little bit more space to move in than usual. I hope to return soon

Saw the menus on their website & saw the pictures that they had posted & thought that this restaurant looked like the kind of place we would enjoy. What a disappointment! The menu was not what they advertised on their website, when we questioned the waiter about the menu he said that they hadn’t used that one for about 2 months. The presentation of our meals was most definitely not similar to the pictures on the website, the leeks must’ve flown over the leek & potato soup, would not recommend & we were very sorry we had taken our friends there & would most definitely not be back!!

We were here on a Friday night and went for the steak deal. The steaks were fabulous, cooked exactly as requested. The sides were generous and my cocktail was simple but delicious and the full of the glass! Staff were friendly and helpful. The only thing we would have liked to change was the background music. It is a very busy place and when it's full as it was last night, it's extremely noisy. It would be better to turn the music down when it gets to that stage. But that is a small thing compared to overall enjoyment of the dinner. It was excellent and very good value. There was an early evening blues session kicking off in the downstairs bar as we were leaving, the band sounded good and if you had the energy it would be a nice way to end the night. We recommend this place.

Wow, I never imagined I’d write a second review about a place, but I felt compelled to share my experience at The Stand Off. I previously visited to watch an F1 race and had a fantastic time, thanks to the attentive staff who took great care of my son and me. True to my word, I returned for another F1 race, and once again, the staff were exceptional and made us feel very welcome. This time, we decided to try the roast dinner, and honestly, I wasn’t expecting anything extraordinary. However, I was pleasantly surprised! I usually dislike cauliflower cheese and parsnips, but I couldn’t resist trying the cauliflower cheese, which had delicious fried parsnip strips sprinkled on top, it was fantastic! The roast dinner was among the best I’ve ever had, so hats off to the chef—bravo! I will definitely be coming back for more. Highly recommend The Stand-Off!

Called in during a day visit to the North Coast. Sat outside and after a short time a waitress took our order: Glass of wine and a pint of Forged Irish Stout, two avocado and spinach burgers with nacho sauce, cranberry/rocket/seeded bap and MSQ fries. looked good and well presented BUT burger was cold and tasteless, skinny chips were okay but barely warm. Bill for food and drinks: glass of wine £6,forged Irish Stout £6 two burgers and chips £28. Drink was no more expensive that anywhere else but £28 FOR TWO VEGAN BURGER AND CHIPS, SERVED UP COLD AND TASTLESS not a good advertisement for any resturant. I'm assuming these were TOURIST PRICES and our fault for not leaving when we seen the prices! One positive I can say, was that the staff were very efficient, attentive, and pleasant and not their fault the food was awful. . Saying that, the food being served up to the non vegans around us, looked delicious.

I decided to pick this restaurant as a break between our trip from Dublin to Letterkenny. What I did not take into account is that the restaurant is what seemed like the middle of nowhere! I wish them however the very best as it really is a lovely comfortable restaurant. You are made feel at home and it certainly is a relaxing place. My wife had the Chicken & Chorizo Rigatoni which she could not finish and I had the Cheeky Burger which I just about finished! Both took a little bit to arrive but be patient. The food is excellent. I would advise anybody to stay nearby and experience the restaurant for a few hours. It is only a pity that they do not have accommodation upstairs! That is certainly what we will be doing next time. The service was excellent and attentive and we left happy afterwards ready for our onwards trip!

We came here because of the reviews we read and we were not disappointed. We are both veggies and it can be hard sometimes to get decent food. The veggie fry we had was one of the best and very decently priced. Staff were lovely and friendly. If we're back in Ballycastle we will definitely call in again.
