Maggie Mays Belfast Cafe, Castle Street in Belfast

Maggie Mays was recommeded to us before we came to Belfast. It was a five minute walk from the hotel and our first stop after arriving at lunchtime. The service was fab, the food was amazing. Hubbies had the Titanic burger and I had the soup of the day which was Chicken and veg. I have not tasted soup like it since I was a little girl. Absolutely delicious, the bread served with it was lovely too, more like cake....fine with me!

I got Sausage and Chips ,sausage was lovely and chips were plentiful , staff were helpful and friendly , nice and clean highly recommended

Very nice place for scrambled eggs and granola fruit bowl with a nice cappuccino. Service was good too, and there is WiFi. Also, the menu is big, so, lots of options.

Great place for some breakfast before exploring Belfast. Menu was varied and reasonable price. Food was delish and staff were friendly. Lovely vibe to the place. Probably would have walked by if I had not read reviews here first. Would definitely recommend it.

Came here during my lunch brake. I've received a very welcome from front of house staff. Then got looked after Chris and he was a wee Gent! Love his service! I had wee Dirty fries as I would always have them with peppercorn sauce instead and added extra jalapenos(which wasn't an issue, if you only ask). Overall love the atmosphere in the place and I love how cozy it is! Definitely will be back again! 😃 😎 ❤️ 👍

Myself and my husband was recommended this place by a local taxi driver and boy was he right. I had the traditional Irish breakfast and it was brilliant, so tasty and loads to eat. My husband had the pancakes and scrambled eggs which he thoroughly enjoyed. This place is a must for eating in and had a good varied menu. When we go back to Belfast I’m definitely coming here again.

This was my first time at Maggie Mays, and I thought it was great. I loved the busy atmosphere of the place. The staff were friendly and made you feel welcome. I got the Titanic Burger with chips, and it was very nice. Food was hot and burger was well cooked. I got a milkshake to drink. I have not had a milkshake in years and seen other people getting them, so I said I fancy one of them too. I ordered the Strawberry Milkshake, and it was great. I really love it. I enjoyed my visit to Maggie Mays. I will definitely be back.

I have been 4 times now and each time the have managed to get the order wrong in some way or other But it’s not even the chipped half filled teapots that I dislike it’s the fact that when the food comes it has never been hot the staff seem to stagger about aimlessly like a ship without a rudder it could be so much better I work in tourism and will not be recommending here or making a fifth visit The mushrooms in the bumper fry came as 1 mushroom and it was in the beans

Horrific waited about an hour for food. Staff is rude, got the bill of the wrong order. Got Sore head music too loud. Order got lost in the kitchen

I visited here whilst visiting Belfast with my friend. I was very pleased to see they actually have a separate vegetarian menu. We went for lunch but sadly a couple of the things I asked for on the menu were unavailable. This was probably because we visited late afternoon but I was a bit disappointed. The meals both my friend and I had were lovely and the staff were very friendly

Well when I say I have been wanting to try Maggie mays for a few years is a slight understatement I mean some of the reviews this gaff gets .. get in my belly !!!! Anyway finally bit the bullet and after popping off some dry cleaning and the.. dry cleaners ..! We ventured on over, was pretty quiet and got a lovely booth quickly served by Johnny ? Lovely fella , drinks and food ordered couple of cheeky lattes I mean a morning isn’t complete without one is it ?? Couple belly busters and some pancakes and bob most certainly is your uncle ! That shall do my friend that shall do !! Anyhu couldn’t knock the service at all , decor lovely but let’s have it right mate I ain’t there to munch the wall I want some of those chippies in my mouth yes please bruvvvAaaaaaaaa !!!! Food arrives promptly looked spot on but you know that old chestnut looks decent bruvva but man a take one bite and it tell me something different ?! Check pon this .. went all Jamaican on you mob then! You loved it didn’t ya ?? Naughty !! Double double !!!! Also side note belfast/ Northern Ireland doesn’t do bubble with their breakfasts ?! Madness ! Cheeky bit of bubble egg bacon and beans oi oi !!! Who’s having it? I’m having it !!! Anyway food was by no means bad but like hard eggs, unseasoned bland mushrooms, bacon drier than the skin on my foot in the winter ! Corr it’s cold here ain’t it ?’ Imagine Scotland ? I mean imagine !! Tough old lot !! But yeah sausages weren’t saying much .. maybe 55 percent pork ratio ?? Potato bread and soda were also pretty dry? I know different places cook it different but just my personal preference could’ve done with a quick flash fry in a cheeky bit of butter !! Then again is that a fried slice ? .. another thing you don’t see on many menus here ? Sort it out belfast ! I mean during covid me and the missus was banging fried slices as a snack ! Got that bad we tried cooking one in garlic butter .. and butter .. and oil .. put on four stone that summer ! How I laughed looking in the mirror ! But yeah enough about me .. how are you?? All in all good for me was pretty average even the chips tasted of re used old oil.. Again couldn’t fault the service or the place just expected a slightly tastier bit of grub, Will give them another go tho because it’s all peace and love from me - be good out there people

Amazing, a really nice quirky cafe! Lots of choice, really is something for everyone. Staff was very on the ball. Good portions of food & we even had a dessert. Loved this place - hidden gem

Lovely atmosphere, busy but service great. The white chocolate scone and flat whites hit the spot perfectly after our walk round the botanic gardens. A big queue outside ready for lunch shows what a popular place it must be.

Came in for lunch last Sunday. Place was buzzing and great atmosphere. Food was great, quality cafe food and coffee was great too. Was served by a lovely guy with an eastern Europe accent. Thanks for making the experience memorable

Waited 30+ mins for food as ticket was never brought to kitchen, despite it being quiet. Was given meat as a vegetarian Partner was misgendered multiple times.

Good food, reasonable price but they only take cash! Upon arrival, it was very busy so we were very surprised to get seated straight away. Lots of choice on the menu, but my partner and I both chose the Breakfast Burrito with Orange Juice. The full bill came to £22.00 which we found very reasonable. Staff were attentive, polite and friendly. Food was hot, tasty and filling. Not a bad word to say, we would recommend and would come back!

I couldn’t discern the hype about Maggie Mays. We queued despite empty booths available. The Belfast breakfast was quite average, with notably tiny sausages. The café’s seats were uncomfortable. Additionally, the cash payment only system seemed very questionable, given how unusual it is for people to be carrying cash these days. Plus pointing customers to the cash machine across the road is not really what you expect! It didn’t seem justified.

I came in the door and waited at the sign to be seated. I was spotted and they just stood there for a good 3 minutes but no one came over to me. I eventually called over to her asking if I could sit down. She said yes as if I'd been expected to sit without being seated. No menu arrived for ages so had to ask for one. When I was about to leave as no one came over to take my order, a different waitress asked for my order. She was friendly enough but brought my order without the sauce the dish said it came with, so I had to eat half my dinner without it waiting for it to come. Chips tasted like butter, wasn't nice but fish was tasty although was thinner than I'd expect to pay for. Wasn't as cheap as the decor suggested. The booths were so small my stomach was rammed against it and all the booths were the same. A pregnant woman would be in pain squeezed in here. A group of guys came in and sat down and were instantly served. Waiter rarely left their side asking them if they were OK or needed anything. I had many waitresses walk past me to serve them but not once asked me the same. Not exactly an example of equality so close to the university. Not going back.

Bit of a slow start. Says open at 10am but they hadn't set up so was 10.10 time I was seated. But was well worth the wait. Possibly best fried breakfast I've ever had.

Two friends called in for a late breakfast. Glad we did! Great little place, good food, good music, friendly and efficient.

Busy cafe. I chose soup and sandwich deal which seemed a good deal . Soup was vegetable broth but was disappointed with it as although plenty veg in it the liquid was rather peppery which gave it an underlying taste . Sandwich did not have enough filling it it and what was there was just in the middle and not spread out to edges ,so May as well have been 2 slices of dry bread. Husband had chicken fillets and chips which was very good he said . Both had coffees which were fine .

We went once for breakfast in our 4 day stay. Absolutely best breakfast I've ever had but only went the once because the seating is very cramped and not adequate for large adults

Irish Breakfast is fine… Plenty of it with the bacon being thick cut and cooled perfectly. The staff were polite and efficient. Very recommended for a fry up. One improvement would be to ask the customer how they prefer the eggs and bacon cooked.
