Very disappointed to find out that Stock kitchen and bar have a policy which only redeems their vouchers for a year only. When we contacted them to enquire about using a voucher for £125 which was 4 months out of date they informed us that they would allow us to use £60 of this as what they described as a gesture of good will if we booked for use within a 2 days time frame only. This in our view was a mean spirited, ungenerous response to offer less than half the worth of the original voucher which we in error thought we would have longer than a year to use. Most Belfast establishments offer an at least two year voucher redemption policy such as the Visit Belfast initiative which includes 65 such businesses all facilitating thr use of vouchers for a two year period. When we contacted the restaurant to highlight this, they did not respond. Very poor and not customer centred business.

We've all had lots of food from many places around the world. A kind busman told me about this place in Belfast today while I was awaiting my flight. Honestly, it was one of the best meals I've had in any country. Don't miss it. Ask for Gema; she will take care of everything, and you just enjoy. It's the best food I've tasted in Ireland.

Booked in for dads dinner - no issue with the food but staff are not given their tips! They operate a points system which means staff are given a pound per hour of tips even though every table has an automatic 10% service charge. At a restaurant of this standard which relies heavily on very very good service it’s a scandal not to give the staff what they are not only owed but what they earned!!

Fab lunch at this restaurant, sitting on the Terrace, overlooking the stalls in St Georges market. ‘Manager’ not a good example in customer service. All questions were answered like we were insulting him personally. We asked why a certain dish which was on the website menu was as not available. He said ‘The menu changes, we haven’t changed the website, is that a problem’? He was quite confrontational! We noticed he actually seemed to make some other guests uncomfortable. Food was ok, certainly not worth the price tag!

I haven't been able to get out for dinner for a considerable time and when this place was suggested, I was a little bit worried because, while I knew there was an eatery there, I hadn't heard anyone talking about it and I made an assumption it was just a middle of road type restaurant based above George's Market. I have to say, I went in not expecting much, but was absolutely gob smacked! It definitely wasn't what I was expecting! The place isn't massive but the use of the space is fabulous! There is a bar area where you can sit pre and post dinner. The decor is first class and the atmosphere was excellent and a tribute to the owners, but more so the staff working there! While it is a little on the pricier end of the scale for me, although not wildly priced, I have to say the food was outstanding and the staff helped us get enough food to share between 5 of us!! We had parmesan fries with a few drinks while deciding what to have. We had a variety of starters before the fish and meat sharing meals and a steak, that was one side of a cow! At the end, a few deserts were then taken and others had an alcoholic refreshment instead. The wine list is extensive and to be honest above my head, but we shared a terrific bottle of red that I hate myself for not taking a note of to look it up! In total, it was £70 a head! A little more than my usual financial envelope, but it was a special night out, so I was a bit surprised because I was genuinely expecting it to be more! Overall a terrific night out and great experience and a credit to the owners and staff! I really do mean it when I say I want to go back!!

Unfortunately it wasn't great. Last time we were here was for our anniversary, it was late August and not as busy and the experience was amazing. This time, for my wife's birthday, it felt like we were treated like we were on a Christmas dinner. We ate off the main menu and had oysters to start, they were lovely. The starters were just ok, and compared to last time, a little less of it too. My pigeon had 2 small slices, not sure where the rest of the pigeon breast went. The main courses were the biggest let down and actually felt the played had been sitting a while, not overly warm. My wife's fish was overcooked and quite dry. The pasta was heavy and grey, not at all appealing, so we sent it back. This left me eating on my own. They brought another for my wife and it was much warmer and looked more appetizing, with gorgeous fluffy prawns on top. Unfortunately, the fish just wasn't great and the pasta was yet again thick and grey. They took mine away to heat and came back warmer but not great. Service was great, just felt standard had dropped to cater for the Xmas period. Very disappointing.

But, the food... the food... the staff. Fantastic. For me starter of crabs claws and langoustines. Main of ham-wrapped pheasant. Both were absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked.. umami needs fully satisfied. Brilliant. Thank you Danny M. and all the team. Not cheap, but we did enjoy the delights of the bar, as well as the kitchen! Would I go back?? Having walked past a stunning display of fresh fish and vegetables at St George’s Friday market we were eagerly looking forward to our lunch upstairs at Stock restaurant. All four of us chose the fish Specials. Our plates of fish, decorated with split langoustines and vegetables arrived. Served with 4 bowls of chips. The job in hand was to try and find the flesh on the fish which we could eat! Bones were turned over and scraped in the process. Needless to say we were extremely disappointed with the fish content of our meal for £30 each. Sitting on the balcony looking down at the busy market we really felt let down by a respected chef for allowing such inferior food to be served to his customers.

Dined here on Saturday evening I had chicken spring rolls and sautéed chicken livers with black cherries my wife had scallop and crab soufflé both were excellent. We ordered the sirloin of boef sharing platter for two at £90. The vegetables and sides were excellent but the main event, the beef was perhaps one of the poorest cuts of meat I have ever had. We were offered a free dessert by way of an apology but we declined and the service charge was taken off the bill (which in essence punishes the staff with no tip) I tipped the waiter with cash as the service was really decent. I was, and remain very disappointed at being charged for the main course as it was not enjoyed nor finished. I feel £40 for a bottle of red wine I can buy for £9 was over the top.

Airy restaurant above the weekend market with fresh seafood. Crubeens are excellent. The pig trots are tender and delightfully savory, wrapped in crispy shell. No need for the sauce :> Prawn & Brown Crab Orzo tastes great. Bouncy shrimps and pasta, crunchy breadcrumbs and veggie. The crab is invisible though. Market fish is Dover sole today. Tender and fresh. Love the grilled lemon. Casserole comes with tender hake/cod and meaty monk fish, delicate mussels, and plump langoustines. Crab claws are missing again. Maybe the restaurant has run out of crabs today… (though we saw crabs for sale downstairs at the market earlier in the morning). The mayo is quite heavy for the sourdough. Perhaps it’s better to have it on the side. Service is friendly and food comes fast. Glad that we made it before our Friday ferry. Veal ravioli also sounds appetizing, and no time for desert today. Next time :)

I went there around 1 p.m. on a Sunday in July, I was seated on the terrace, an open terrace which gives a panoramic view of the market, the atmosphere was pleasant because it was not too warm. I ordered "Whole Market fish on the bone, Roated fish Bone sauce, Market Vegetables, proper Chips." The vegetables were cooked al dente zucchini, broccoli, peas... The sole was roasted in a pan and lightly buttered, a bowl of fries accompanied the whole. The whole dish was perfectly balanced, there was crunch, tenderness, softness... take the lemon and put a few drops on the fish, you will see this little tangy side will make everything divine. I did not put 5 stars because even if I am very satisfied and I know how to recognize the efforts, it was too expensive I paid 35 pounds for this plate. Reasonably 25 would have been more correct and appropriate.

Absolutely excellent. What a brilliant experience. If you haven't been- you have got to put it on your go to list.I've been here a few times and have never been disappointed! Danny Millar excels again.Thank you.Had a fantastic meal. This time there was a group of us.Great selection of starters and with the main courses there was something for everyone. Light monkfish & crispy egg were just 2 of the starters which were a big hit! ( My description doesn't do it justice) The lamb rump was beautifully tasty & tender,I had the beef cheek which was literally melt in your mouth. The accompanying vegetables were cooked to perfection. There was a great selection of desserts which were all tested and enjoyed. The wines selected enhanced the flavours of the food.We had a light elegant Alberino.. which we could sample before getting bottle and a cheeky Malbec, juicy on the palette which of course was so good, we just had to indulge on a second bottle! This did bump the price up from the food bill but we'll worth it. Paul's customer service was excellent aswell. He was great at advising and explaining the dishes & the wine along with just the right amount of attention to detail with the service without it being interfering.Anticipating our needs at always the right moment and checking that everything was to our liking. After the meal was over we moved to the balcony to finish off with teas & coffees, overlooking the indoor bustling St Georges market. If a visitor to Belfast.. or local you should go to Stock and Bar at least once. Its a prime situation were you can then have a wander in the market to browse and buy anything and everything from artisan crafts, pictures to second hand and antiques.Either way it's a great place to go to either before or after Stock and Bar. Will definitely be back..but you should go too if you want excellent food and wine!

The atmosphere and prices just didn’t match the food we received..We ordered pizza and it came out swimming in juice. The base of the pizza was soaked through! The quality of ingredients used was very good and you could tell that, however it was being let down by the water/juice that made the toppings and cheese slide off the pizza. £15 for a soggy pizza isn’t justifiable. Sadly to add to the disappointment there was a service charge of £1.50 which was a sting considering they forgot to bring out our drinks. Nobody asked how the food was or checked on us throughout the meal..for such a nice setting, they could do better. :(

Went in for a bite to eat but the menu is very limited. The prices are higher than normal. I had toast and bacon my husband had the market breakfast. We had two tea and it's still a shock for the price. No one asked if we were happy with it so I paid for the service I didn't get. Here's a picture of my bill.

We called in for breakfast while visiting Belfast market. The breakfast was excellent, the service friendly and efficient. We had a table outside overlooking the stalls and the market, my photos are the vista we had. On our last visit to the market we couldn’t get a table so we booked in advance.

We were a party of 4 and arrived early to book a table. Told to wait in the bar until 12.15. Then when we went to get our table, told all tables were booked. Unreal incompetence. Avoid.

We’ve been here before and our expectations were good. We arrived early and wanted a drink at the bar. But no, they told us we couldn’t use the bar and directed us straight to a table. Took about another 10mins to order a drink. We...
