The best restaurants serving Indian food in North East Scotland

This Indian/Nepalese takeaway is now under new ownership and has changed name to Kathmandu Curry House. The food and service is as good as always. We have enjoyed many dishes in recent weeks and special mention must be given to the meals we had this weekend. The Kathmandu Curry House Special (lamb) was great; a little bit spicy, very tasty and lots of it! The Butter Chicken had just the right amount of warming spices and there was more than enough to enjoy the next day. Lovely fluffy pilau rice and a huge naan were the perfect accompaniments. Food was ordered for 7pm and arrived at 7pm. Worth mentioning that discounts are given when ordering direct (by phone, website or in person).

En nuestra segunda entrega de encontramos que el curry vegetariano (paneer) era en realidad pollo en lugar de paneer. Habiendo telefoneado al restaurante y recibido respuestas complicadas, dejamos nuestro número para que el gerente devolviera la llamada. Al recibir la devolución de la llamada, se nos ofreció un descuento en el próximo pedido (con la carga de ofrecer una repetición personalizada) en lugar de ofrecer un reembolso en esa parte del pedido. La decepción se agravó cuando el gerente se sintió frustrado y colgó el teléfono. Los entrantes fueron excelentes antes de esto.

Después de ser recomendado por amigos, decidimos darle una oportunidad a este restaurante y ASÍ NOS ALEGRA QUE HICIMOS. Las comidas que tuvimos eran absolutamente deliciosos y puedo recomendar a fondo el pollo tikka Madras que era lo suficientemente caliente para mi paladar, pero se puede cocinar a su preferencia y el pollo de chile de ajo era para morir! Nuestros amigos decidieron tomar las tapas de platos más pequeños y disfrutaron de esto también. Sé que los poppadoms son solo un aperitivo pero nunca hemos experimentado estos tan sabrosos y ligeros. ¡Estos fueron servidos en trozos del tamaño de un bocado que estaban fuera de este mundo! El camarero que teníamos era conocedor de la comida y pidió por recomendación suya y la atención que recibimos de él era de primera clase, que es muy raro en estos días, y sin duda añadido a nuestra experiencia gastronómica. Sin duda volveremos aquí de nuevo y no puedo recomendar lo suficientemente!

Terrible servicio. Pedí un curry de pollo con mantequilla ya que se supone que es un curry "suave". Volví y lo probé y estaba extremadamente picante y literalmente me estaba quemando la boca debido a la cantidad de especias. Me llamaron para explicarme y preguntar si era un curry de pollo con mantequilla que me dieron y dijeron que hacen todos sus currys con un nivel de especias medio como estándar. Esto no me lo explicaron cuando pedí y deberían preguntar esto como estándar si alguien pide lo que se supone que es un curry suave. Ni siquiera clasificaría este curry como especia mediana, era así de picante. Le pregunté si podía conseguir otro y recogerlo, pero se esperaba que pagara por el nuevo a pesar de que el primero no era comestible. Me dijeron que debería haber pedido un curry suave si no puedo manejar la especia, lo que es inaceptable dado que pedí un curry, que si estuviera en cualquier otro lugar, se clasificaría como un curry suave como estándar. Fui aquí hace un año y no tuve ningún problema con esto, no volveré!

Excellent food as always. Delivery timescale in line with as stated when order placed. Three happy home diners.

Used to be good but haven’t been for years for a take away.. kids chicken Korma was all rice and next to no sauce or chicken while my omelette dry and average at best the chips was so dry that I think they were reheated from last night.. in all the worst meal from a takeaway I’ve had

Con un ambiente auténtico pero muy relajado el Shish - in - Stead es una visita obligada fantástica si eres local o no, la comida está a la par con lo mejor que he probado y el personal es amable y atento, el propietario Joe por lo general vendrá a hacer una aparición y saludar. Una muy buena experiencia, recomiendo este restaurante indio.

Fuimos con unos amigos del trabajo la otra noche, tuvimos entrantes. La red con las niñeras, comida fantástica, y el servicio era bueno.

This is the second time we have tried this restaurant, and to be honest, it's first class. The food and service were amazing, thank you.

Ordered takeaway last Sunday and me and my wife got food poisoning from the food. The chicken korma sauce was like water and the onion bajis were stale. It’s a shame because the restaurant use to deliver good food but the standards have clearly dropped massively.

Visiting the Peterhead area for a couple of days with my wife , we fancied some Indian food We were recommended to visit the Bengal Spice in Mintlaw From the outside we weren’t expecting much So glad we were wrong Genuinely the best and tastiest curries we have had in a long time We have a couple of decent Indian restaurants we use in Dundee but this place knocks them for six Took us back to the days of Jacob/ Royal Oak/ Malabar , high praise indeed Well worth the visit if you are anywhere near

I’ve been meaning to leave a review for a while. Had another excellent takeaway tonight from the bengal tiger. After a recent takeover it’s back with a bang. An excellent chicken tikka jalfrezi with lovely onion rice My missus also had vegetable korma. plenty fresh veg and sauce and she raves about it. Previous owners were diabolical with veggie dishes. Perfect takeaway right on our doorstep won’t hesitate now to invite friends round for a takeaway.
