Newtonhill Tandoori in Aberdeenshire

This Indian/Nepalese takeaway is now under new ownership and has changed name to Kathmandu Curry House. The food and service is as good as always. We have enjoyed many dishes in recent weeks and special mention must be given to the meals we had this weekend. The Kathmandu Curry House Special (lamb) was great; a little bit spicy, very tasty and lots of it! The Butter Chicken had just the right amount of warming spices and there was more than enough to enjoy the next day. Lovely fluffy pilau rice and a huge naan were the perfect accompaniments. Food was ordered for 7pm and arrived at 7pm. Worth mentioning that discounts are given when ordering direct (by phone, website or in person).

The food here is very well cooked. We just go for the usual currys and they are always fine. Good value for money too. The wait times are a little long but if they give you an ETA then they do stick to it. Would recommend ordering from here and just asking how long it will take so you arent misled.

Just had another excellent meal! The food from here just gets better and better. Service is excellent and Sunnil and Abbas are excellent owners and are truly part of our village.

I ordered vegatable calazone. It was full with MASSIVE pieces of vegetables and greasy. Feels like they cut onions and peppers in 4 halfs and put them in. So messy to eat. It tasted horrible. I messaged owner on Facebook and they just blocked me!!! Did not even want to engage in a conversation. I was not asking for replacement or anything. Last time I ordered pizza from here and dough was raw. Months later I gave it another go and it is still as bad. Feels like chef is not bothered there at all. Very disappointing.

Food was plentiful and tasty, was even able to satisfy my not very keen on Indian food wife ! Would defo reccomend

Food was amazing, can’t fault it! We ordered vegetable and chicken korma as well as peshwari naan and some rice. Everyone was very impressed with the quality of the food. Nice man who handed us our food when we arrived to collect.

3rd time I've used this takeaway and have to say that I was disappointed. The first two time were excellent and I've recommended Newtonhill Tandoori many. However the last time was disappointing. Why does everything have to have bright red food colouring? It's just not required. 4 of our choices looked the same. The salads we received on the first two occasions were missing, as were some of the dips, and one of the mains "Butter Chicken" was like wallpaper paste mixed with red food colouring and sugar. Not Good!!! The first two times we picked old favourites, Madras, Bhuna etc and were impressed. Maybe stick to them in the future.

I attended a meeting in the Newton Arms in Newtonhill recently. It turned out to be a really cosy and friendly wee place. After this meeting we were treated to a supper and the food was supplied by Newtonhill Tandoori who normally operate a Takeaway/delivery service from these premises. The excellent food supplemented the cosy venue. However as they do not normally provide a sit in service, the food was served up on polystyrene plates and plastic knives and forks. It was brought to the table in tupperware boxes. This is an enterprising family and should be given every encouragement in their ambition. I hope the locals will support them if they decide to offer a full restaurant service. With proper plates cutlery etc this place has potential.

Excellent Takeaway. The Chicken Chaat and Himalayan Lamb is amazing. Timely Service and great value for the size of portions.

Timely and tasty.....just what we needed on a Friday night.It was really easy to place the order. The quantity of the food was unbelievable!!!

Highly recommend the Newtonhill Tandoori... Good quality chicken and the haggis pakora is great!! No oily residue in the curry sauces, good portions and delicious. Seen a lot of negative comments on delivery time but never had an issue in the past 5 times we've ordered anything.

This could be an outstanding take away, once they get their ordering sorted out. Good pizza and Indian dishes. Large portions at a reasonable price. Busy periods can mean unreasonable waiting times.

We had a takeaway delivered to our house on a Saturday night. Delivery was pretty efficient and the delivery man very pleasant. Set meal for 2 people has so much food we had the left overs for dinner the following night. Plenty of chicken in the main dishes and no layer of oil lying on the top of the dish like you get with lots of other indian takeaways. Very tasty and fresh food at a good price. Would definitely recommend.

This is a take away, not a sit down restaurant. It's a slightly odd set up, in that its run from the back bar in the Newtonhill Arms pub. The food was very good and we were impressed with the haggis pakora - very moreish but also really good indeed. Prices are reasonable and the order for collection was ready in 20 minutes. We will try it again soon.
