Moon Light in Aberdeenshire

Every dish we ordered was so completely different but all were equally delicious. We had the pathia, the achari, lamb tikka, methi and sag paneer. The serving staff were friendly and attentive. We had a lovely evening.

This is a great place for a traditional Indian meal , staff are great , food is excellent great choice on buffet night , always something to tantalise the taste buds .

ordered 2 chicken tikka masalas, absolutely zero taste quite disappointed. also ordered a peshwari & honey naan and only to be given a plain one. wont be back.

It was incredible, solid 10/10 not only because of the food, but also for the service by the waiters, there was this weird attention seeking man in his late 30s who was hassling them, and all in all was quite weird, the way they handled him was quite mature, especially for his young they looked, he kept trying to barrage them with insults, and it was quite uncomfortable to watch, and me personally I think it’s a bit weird getting a high from talking to kids

Though we would try this place out as just down the road. we book a table for 2 for 7pm never been before, we arrived to the young waiter was smoking right in front of the door. we where put on a table of six which had 2 other people at the other end fell a bit close, no table clothes on tables, took a while for our order to be taken we had eaten the pappadoms and still waited to order when we did order the wrong curry came and to wait again for the food, We got no freshening cloth after our main meal. We had coffee the man came with the milk then took it away then came back he had use some of it poor service all round feel very disappointed, for 2 of us it cost we only order a main course and drinks £52 don't even get a mint not value for money won't be going back .

We ate in Moonlight and it did not disappoint in any way. Very interesting and varied menu. Food was braw and the price is on point Clean and tidy wee place

I have just started Moonlight as a takeaway and was pleased to see they did a set meal so this is what I went for. What I did not bargain for was that they added extra cost to my bill without telling me as I changed the set meal options. This is not good business practice as I wont be going back. The other restaurants that I have used don’t do this and if there is additional cost i expect to be told this.

Our local Indian restaurant. We have been many many times, pre and during lockdown. Can honestly say in all the years, we have never had bad food or service. The majority of times we get a takeaway. Occasionally sit in for special occasions. Once we had the buffet...wasnt overly impressed with that.. very limited food and slow to refill the dishes. Like the majority of restaurants the tables are close together, and one unfortunately right beside the toilet door. But now, during lockdown it is being refubished so this may have all changed. We`ve had a couple of order mistakes, but these have been immediately rectified by very apologetic staff. Now the food. HUGE menu to choose from, as well as the set meals [which can be altered]. We all like to chop and change, and have never yet had anything that wasnt delicious. Food always piping hot, even on takeaways. Can honestly say I would eat here daily if I could!!

We try to eat here as often as possible and no matter what dish we try the flavours are always excellent. The staff in the Moon Light always go out of their way to make sure the meal is good and they cannot be faulted for their efforts. Keep up the standards of tasty food!

Great curry and staff - great feel to this place - visited on buffet night - which looked good but we took off normal menu and very pleased with food especially Chicken Tikka Staff very helpful and drinks were not expensive when compared locally

Angry and disgusted tonight with the meal we ordered to takeaway. We ordered 2 Madras, 1 Pilau rice, 1 Garlic Naan and were charged £26. I was annoyed at the price because at that price you would normally have starters and poppadums with sauces as with a set meal. My son didn't want to complain but then later realised we had been overcharged by nearly £5. And to top it off we opened the trays to find it wasn't a full dish of curry. Photo's are available to show this. It didn't taste that special either in that you can taste the flavours. Its one takeaway to give a wide berth!

Really enjoyed our meal there, food selection is varied and of high quality. Small and intimate, well worth a visit.

We had a takeaway from this restaurant. I had a king prawn Kashmir and my wife a chicken korma - for all practical purposes they were the same - no spices to interest the palate and the sauce was principally made of flower. The prawn Kashmir was like no other prawn Kashmir that I have ever tasted and I would not wish to repeat the experience. Apparently there are dishes on the menu that do contain spices and are fairly hot.

Extremely rude staff, asked for food and straight up just said “no”. Absolutely no manners, made to leave the shop, very unhappy would not recommend not good customer service at all.

Meal for 10 at short notice, midweek, it was not busy. Great welcome by staff. Good selection of curries including a number of chef specialities plus your usual "English" curries. Food quality was superb, service great. Indian beer plus good wine. Good price. Highly recommended.

Missing items in my order. I called to tell them and was told they were never ordered. Despite me having proof as it was ordered through just eat. Staff were very, very rude. 50 minutes later the order was sent, During that time they said I failed to answer my phone or door which was all lies. Extremely rude.

Since we were having a takeaway, I decided to have a takeaway from here, I had a meat meal as a vegetarian. The flavours were wonderful. Would use again

We stopped here on the way home from Aberdeen. We got the choice of the A La Carte menu or the Sunday night buffet - we opted for the buffet.

Nice meal,nice ambience,nice service. Recommend enthusiastically ! We stay 12 miles away but would return as it is very nice .

We eat at this restaurant as often as we can and whilst we may have our favourite dishes each visit we also have something different try and rarely does anything fail to live up to expectations. The spices and flavours are very different for each dish and the portions certainly won't leave you hungry. The service from the staff is first class and they will try to make your dining experience as enjoyable as possible. Can't wait to return.

Excellent friendly service and from what I've heard locally food usually good, however buffet night was very disappointing. Lukewarm curry and cold hard naan bread. Wouldn't rush back.

Dropped in past on a Saturday night . Service was excellent and the menu was varied . Prices were very food value for money . We had a very good meal with more than enough for us to eat . We all took something different and the dishes were all varied and tasty . I'd definitely recommend here . Also they were busy with takeaways .

Estado aquí más veces de las que puedo recordar. La comida siempre es ace nunca tuvimos una mala comida. La mejor noche para ir a cenar es un jueves o domingo por la noche, ya que es un buffet. No hay una enorme cantidad de opciones, pero siempre se reponía regularmente, así que sé que es realmente fresco! !

Conocí a unos cuantos amigos para una comida. Me dijeron en reserva que estaban ocupados, así que teníamos que estar en el por 5. 30. Pensé ¡oh bien es bueno así. Y ME SENTARON para encontrar restaurante acerca de vacío (que estaban muy ocupados con carryouts tho). El servicio era lento, pero ya no teníamos prisa no nos molestó. Después de 2 campos muy bien aunque lento teníamos que esperar años para tomar pedidos camarero que viniera a beber y luego entregar nuestras bebidas. Después de una larga espera que al final consiguió en el desierto de nuestra orden. Después de una larga espera realmente pegajosa destacaban los 3 pizcas y nos entregaron ME dijeron mi desierto estaba disponible así que me gusta otro. Tuve durante 45 minutos. Me dijo que no había. Los otros encontramos pizcas congelados. pegajoso. Nos quejamos y el camarero llevó de vuelta. Cuando regresó estaban bañados en el mejor de los casos y aún en sus contenedores no en un plato. Y todavía congeladas en el medio. Camarero se negó a creer que estaban destinadas a ser caliente. Relación calidad-precio decente, pero simplemente una mala noche creo donde un camarero pobre era nuevo en su trabajo

Tenía una comida para llevar, la comida es siempre recientemente bastante bien y tiempos de entrega razonables. Noches buffet en un jueves mejor - servicio amable, sin duda la mejor noche para ir.

Never enjoyed a meal in here ! Not one I would recommend, sorry - just doesn't do it for me ! Tasted far better Indian cuisine than this, quite pricey too !

Seul resto du coin encore ouvert à 21h nous y sommes un peu allés par défaut... mais quelle agréable surprise ! Les plats étaient absolument délicieux (mention spéciale à l'exquis poulet à la mangue !) et le service souriant et très sympathique ! On nous a même concocté un lassi trop bon alors qu'il n'était pas à la carte ! Encore merci ! Un peu déçus cependant par le naan au fromage, moins savoureux que ceux de France (en GB, comme en Inde d'ailleurs, ils ne mettent pas le même fromage que chez nous, ce fameux fromage industriel cher à notre cœur mais qui se marie si délicieusement avec les naans!). Vraiment un très bon restaurant, d'ailleurs notre hôte nous a dit qu'il était très réputé dans toute la région ! C'est mérité !

We enjoyed an excellent set meal for two during our cycling tour. The perfect dinner to experience great Indian spice and flavours and at the same time re-charge the batteries for the next day on the route ;-)

Have just visited Moonlight Indian restaurant and it wss amaxing, very busy whivh is always good to see and the choice of food wss great.Frienfly staff and lovelg atmosphere would definately recommend.

Went here on a whim 1 night for their buffet night . Decent selection in this small restaurant. Staff were friendly and attentive . Not rushed and pleasant diner type restaurant. Decent value for money.

I find that when we go to moonlight it's never the same even though we have the set meal every time with the same dishes. Sometimes it's truly amazing next time it's average. Good value for money though with their set meal you get a lot for it and even though I've said it's sometimes average it's never ever bad.

Went to the Moonlight for an early Friday evening dinner. Everything was delicious and presented well. The restaurant was nearly empty except for 1 other table and the people coming in to pick up their takeaway orders, so service was prompt.

Back again for a Sunday buffet, the wife loves a buffet. By far the busiest I've ever seen moonlight but we were sampling the delicious fare in no time. The pakora are blilliant and the curries tasty. A real must for any curry lover

Buffet is great value for money and would happily go most nights when on holiday here but went recently when buffet not on and the food was okay but not great value for money.

The Sunday buffet is truly amazing. Choice, value and flavour. The food is top class and the staff are very friendly. Highly recommend this place

Been a good few times over the years, pretty good meal and decent size portions. sometimes have a bit of a wait

I've been here a few times and every experience has been a culinary delight. I enjoy many strong spices, [not necessarily Chilli or Curry], and the Chef tries their best to present the dish the way you request. Obviously, timing is important, as this may be hard when they are busy, Their starter dips are home made and you will have a main dish prepared from raw materials, so it is not unreasonable to wait a few more minutes for freshness. If you have a favourite spice, don't be afraid to ask. Good food, reasonable value and attentive service, each time.

Taken here by my daughter, the meal was just brilliant. Staff very friendly and helpful. The food was great, and a great selection. Will go again anytime.

We have been to Moonlight quite a few times now and are never disappointed. Lovely food and very reasonably priced. The service was excellent and we were well looked after. I would certainly recommend a visit.

Always come here for the Sunday buffet and wasn't disappointed again. Pakora to die for. A wide range of curries, top notch naans and a friendly service. If I lived closer then would come for a takeaway also. Well worth a visit.

We have had many meals here but have recently favored another Indian restaurant so thought we would have a change. We got a small table near the door where people were queuing for a carryout meals. At one stage I felt that the queue was right up to our table. They were short staffed so took too long to serve a two course meal. We were going out afterwards but had to phone friends to let them know we would be late. After 1 hour 30 mins we were served our main course. We were offered a free drink on the house when we paid our bill but as we were late we declined. It would have been more appreciated if we were given a drink when we were waiting. We paid £57 for 1 glass of wine and 2 beers and a 2 course meal for two. Food was fine but I think I will be going back to the other Indian restaurant in future

We haven't been here for a few months and both of us agreed that the meal last night was one of the best we've had here...absolutely delicious, full of flavour, and made us both comment that we need to not leave it so long until the next time.The one thing that really lets this place down is the décor which badly needs changed...I'm afraid I've seen enough of John Bercow hanging on the wall and the desert scene (apart from not looking at all right) is now splattered with remnants of food or paint. Remove the tacky wall art, repaint the walls, dim the lights, light the candles that are on the table and the ambience would be HUGHLY improved.Great food, as always nice friendly service, and at a very reasonable price.

We had our first takeaway from this restaurant and were pleased with the quality and quantity of the dishes. A king prawn biryani had an authentic flavour, while the prawn saag was well spiced and flavoursome. Recommended.

arrived at 5:15pm on a saturday night - - table for 2 UNBOOKED = no problem ... we was the only folk there in the small (about 30 seats) slightly cramped room.ordered a chicken chat starter (to share) - lovely well cooked chicken dish with a ROLLED UP ROTI (?) & small side salad...very tastyi ordered the chicken STAFF CURRY with garlic rice... tasty curry & VERY tasty ricewife had the chicken KHARAHI with mushroom rice....lovely but a little too much onions thru the curry (in her optinion)3 BUSY waiterscobra in bottles but had kingfisher on draughtdecor a liltte datedthere were TABLES of folk eating in by the time we finished but they were very busy with takeaways

Never usually had a complaint about food, but on this occasion our take-away was rather bland and col, We were not late in picking it up either.

Been a regular here for a while, never had any complaints about the food, its pretty good!! But sometimes it feels like they want you out the door as soon as your done.

Finding a curry house is easy finding a good one is sometimes tricky. The Moonlight is a small but quaint restaurant in Turriff. The food was delicious and the staff very friendly, excellent pickelled lime. If we didn't live so far away the Moonlight would certainly be a regular resturaunt for a great curry.

Food and service was faultless. Lamb Naga was superb. what a great find, despite being slightly off the beaten track.Look forward to another visit.Nice to visit an Indian with no Television screens to distract from the dining.Stuart & Laura

Its always takeaway i have from here but its amazing nevertheless i always opt for the chicken tikka rogan josh and its always spiced beautifully i cant handle spicy and this is just perfect service is always lovely im a regular that will always return!

This is our favourite restaurant, there is a buffet on a Thursday and Sunday nights. The food is so good... We always eat too much. Good value for money, and excellent service!

Previously had a bit of a disaster here, however returned to give it another try. Very helpful waitress, very relaxed and clean environment and importantly the food was fantastic. Will return.

Tried the Sunday buffet and it was scrumptious. We were greeted by lovely waitress and the service was top notch. We quickly found a mound of poppadoms and dips which were no sooner devoured than put down. The choice of starters was limited but the samosas were outrageously good. The mains were a good mix or spice and mild and something for every palate. Highly recommend a visit here if you are a curry fiend

My husband and I went here with our 1 year old son. The waitress was so friendly and cheerful. The food was lovely. Although there wasn't a kids menu we picked a European dish for him, Chicken Maryland, which he loved. The dish was also half price for him. Only complaints are that the dish came with golden syrup over it which we found odd as they knew it was for our son. We also asked the our son's food came with our starters however it didn't come until our main. However the meal was lovely.

The staff here are all extremely friendly. The food we ordered - a selection of prawn and chicken curry dishes were lovely and the potato & pea curry, as always, delicious. Great touch at the end of the meal getting lollies and chocs.

Went with family and had an amazing evening, great food, service and am looking forward to our next visit which I hope will be very soon.

I've been here a few times and it's always the same thing, which is alright but doesn't offer an incentive to return as often as one could in a small town with growing competition from exciting alternatives. The buffet night is what we always go to because it is very cheap for all you can eat, I think around £11 per person (excluding drinks). While you do get pre-meal snacks like poppadoms and some sauces, with naan bread with a nice honey dew, the buffet itself is unsubstantial, with a choice of 4 curries which are pretty standard. The service is nice and friendly but I don't think they handle large parties well, with drinks per round left out and the staff on one occasion we had a large party and the staff all seemed like the world was ending because of a few extra people than normal. But on a whole there are some members who are willing to slow down and make you feel welcome but getting rarer and rarer each visit. The dining room is not lavished with neat touches and could be spruced up significantly, and it is quite cramped too which makes dining quite uncomfortable for me - and I'm not the biggest person in the world. Overall it is average, not the greatest. Offers take away but this can be hit or miss in my experiences. There is also an a la carte menu which I have sampled once and again, nothing spectacular but a change from other contemporary restaurants which serve either similar or different cuisines. Up your game or lose your customers - simple.

I was told that this was the best curry house in the north and was also once the top in Scotland. I beg to differ. The service was excellent but the food was only average. I am used to eating in the Kismot in Edinburgh, which is no1 in the uk at the moment, so maybe I am too critical. The pakora comes with no sauce and the curry was more like a soup mix with meat in it. Won't be back for more.

We celebrated our 20th anniversary with an extraordinary dinner at Moon Light Tandori. We ordered the set meal for two and had a wonderful variety of delicious, well-prepared foods. We are just sorry that we live 5,000 miles away because we would like to go back often. We highly recommend Moon Light.

Used to quite like the food but I think its gone done a touch downhill in the last few years since I have first been here. On the weekends they seem content to pack the place in and if there is a party, as there have been the last two times I have been it is not very enjoyable as it gets a little raucous.

Heard a lot about this resturant and I can say they did not disappoint. Food,service and atmosphere was top notch. Will be going again.

Although it was 10.30pm with no other customers around on a Sunday night, the waiter at the moonlight was very accommodating. I had the popadoms with chutney tray which were fine. For mains I ordered the 'Staff Curry'. This was one of the finest curries that I have had for a long time. I couldn't fault it. Full of flavour, a rich taste whilst being madras hot was very much to my liking. Mopped up with Peshawari naan bread - the bread was quite then and the filling didn't crumble out which sometimes happens. The bread was topped with syrup to make it extra sweet. If this was my local curry house, I would be there every weekDefo worth a visit if you are in the area

Curry just not up to standard compared with others in the area. Didn't like the dish I had - very similar to my husband's despite it being a very different description on the menu. Like the fact they do a takeaway.

Food is brilliant with an extensive menu! I recommend the mixed tikka kebab, delicious.Staff are very attentive. Have also been on the thursday buffet night and it is excellent value! You can truly tell why they are award winning.

Been a few times and it has impressed every single time.the food is quality and the naans especially good.gets a little crowded when its busy with collections but the food more than makes up for this

Good food 2 in a small restaurant. The dinner for 2 (set menu/price) was very good and could have fed 4. The table service was ok but a bit to attentive while eating. Recommended by locals.

Tiny restaurant but the staff are always friendly, services is always good and the food is normally good as well.Only tiny moan is about the size of the place, as it tends to get very crowded .

We were visiting Turriff on business and were recommended the restaurant. On arrival everyone was very friendly and the service was very good indeed. The food was lovely and plentiful and we would, at this moment, have recommended the restaurant. However when presented with our bill it was £160 for four people. As I was entertaining friends and colleagues I didn't want to make too much fuss but on closer inspection they had over-charged me by nearly £70!! Apparently 2 drinks rounds and main courses has been duplicated?!?!?!?A real dissapointment and I certainly couldn't go there again.

We had a meal here with friends in April. Glad this restaurant was recommended to us and although they had lost our booking, that was the only problem. The food was good and the waiter recommended dishes that were not on the menu after discussing what we liked and these were great. This clearly demonstrates that the dishes are cooked for you from frash ingredients and not the type that cooks all chicken or lamb the same and just adds a pre made sauce. I would come again.

Three of us went, and all three really did enjoy the food. The Chicken Tandoori was absolutely delicious. There was nothing we could find fault with (other than maybe the bright lights - low lighting, or even candles, would be good), the waiters were very helpful and certainly we would return.
