The best restaurants serving Indian food in County Durham North East

We manage to get to Shaheens around eight times a year and every time we go we are reminded how poor the other curries we have are. We simply cannot fault the service or the food.

Food is alright, but service is shocking, prices are in small print at the bottom of the menu and then the bill is wrote by hand making it hard to figure out what is what. The lighting in the restaurant is like a dentist office and they play loud electronic music which doesn’t match the scene at all. Could be a great place but just a few things letting it down.

Everything was great, the food and the staff were lovely,slight negatives,it's a little overpriced and a portion of chips is about 12 chips for over £3, definitely be back again

Lovely relaxed evening at this nice restaurant. The menu was varied and reasonably priced, the food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Excellent food as always. I cannot fault any of the dishes we’ve tried from here. The “ Paturi “ dishes are exceptional.

Popped in on the off chance after being to the cinema. They were busy but gave us a table for an hour. The food was divine. The service was impeccable. 10 out 10 again

very poor food cold food chips not cooked i would not go to babuls again the curry was cold and no spice when i ordered a spicey curry full of cream and tomatoes thin it out

They need to invest in new chairs. The leather is badly cracked and peeling and unsafe. For what they charge for a meal they could afford to replace them. Two hours after meal I had severe heartburn (never had heartburn before), and threw up. Daughter is still ill after eating here on Friday 13th of december.deffo lost customers now

Ordered our takeaway on a Saturday night it came within 30 minutes it was hot and delicious. It is unusual for any takeaway to arrive on time and be hot but Mumbai managed this I had chicken takeaway masala with pilau rice and spicy chips i would recommend this takeaway/restaurant 😋 👌

A slightly quirky setting with fabulous food, a little different from a standard menu, perfectly cooked and with excellent balance of flavours. Staff are excellent too.
