The best restaurants serving Indian food in North East

slightly disappointing. usually our go to Indians but this time it just wasn't as tasty as usual. ordered pilau rice and received boiled rice too.

Great food and warm, knowledgeable service. Ask for recommendations and you won’t be disappointed, my go to India restaurant on the wonderful Ocean Rd. Oh and Double Maxim!!

Amazing Bangladeshi/Indian cuisine restaurant. Do not miss this one when choosing an Ocean Road restaurant. Their Tandoori cheff is the best in the business. Their waiting staff Re tentative and never miss a beat. A manager or possibly the owner was there when we visited and he ensured we had everything we needed for a perfect experience. Very reasonably priced. Very clean and well organised. Ny favourite Indian cuisine restaurant along the entirety of Ocean Road a street famous for its many Indian restaurants. Don't choose another restaurant on the road based on its fancier shop front. Choose Ginger based on its superior food and service. Simply perfect.

Party of 8, booked in advance to ensure we got in. 2 many dishes to list everything we ordered, but we all had starters and mains and a few nans washed down with various drinks. Everyone agreed the food was excellent, service was spot on. Nice venue, nice staff, good food and value for money, what more could you want. Would highly recommend.

This is the restaurant which we return to when in or near South Shields - that is not very often because we live 250 miles away. Why do we go there? Because the food is excellent and the chef will adjust anything to your taste, the menu is extensive both for food and drink, the service is perfect with polite and helpful staff and the price is very good. They are very popular - no surprise there - so do book or you will miss an incredible gastronomic experience. Recommended without reservation.

We are situated on the campsite 5 minutes drive away. However we are in a motorhome, so difficult to move, and thought we’d get a delivery as stipulated several times on the website. When we rang up to order they said they don’t do deliveries. Don’t bother looking forward to an Indian delivery and we’ve suggested they change the wording on the website. ORDER LOST

Me and my daughter went here for a meal before a show. We booked for 5pm but if we went again we would definitely go for maybe 6pm. When we arrived it was very quiet, staff were very friendly, our drinks were ordered, arrived quickly and then we ordered our food. We ordered a pickle tray and poppadoms, followed by onion bhagis. I ordered chicken Balti and my daughter had the lamb tikka masala, both with mushroom rice. Our starters came out before we finished our poppadoms and it felt like the staff were hovering and waiting for us to finish our last mouthful to then bring our mains. The service was just too quick and we felt rushed. My curry arrived and it was lamb instead of chicken but I didn’t say anything because I like lamb and so thought I would just eat it, however it was tough and chewy. The rest of the meal was lovely and I wouldn’t normally say anything but when asked I did say I got lamb instead of chicken. The gentleman was lovely and said we should have said at the beginning and it could have been changed and he would let the chef know. He deducted the curry from our bill, which I wasn’t asking for so that was really nice of him. We would go again, but not as early next time. People do love good service and we do but on this occasion it was just too eager.

Another lovely meal here last night. We just love the chilled, friendly atmosphere. The naan bread was like a cloud- beautiful! Service is also super 🙂

Decent Chinese, nice food but found a bit of hair in my orange chicken. Can be hit or miss at times but it is a nice place for a reasonable price
