The best restaurants serving Indian food in England

The staff were very welcoming. I really enjoyed the food and the service was great! Will return.

It is one of the best restaurants in Oldham with mouth-watering foods that are freshly cooked.

Food and service in The Forts is fantastic, and they've had the same standards for 30 years now, so they're obviously doing something right!! The Lamb Momo and Rezala Bhuna are as good as you'll get.

I went on a Sunday buffet day and was very disappointed. First off we were asked if we wanted popadoms for the table to which I said 3. All the chutneys were available at the buffet table to which I was happy to use However they brought a plate of the same chutneys to our table which we did not ask for and were charged £3 per person for the pleasure. When I questioned this at the end the manager became quite rude and when I pointed out that I never asked for them he said well it comes automatically, however if that’s the case why is it priced separately I myself only have mint sauce so I found it very ridiculous . Does a curry automatically come with rice? Or do you order those separately?. We was also charged £15 for 3 cokes which came out of a 2L bottle and was flat. They also do not show you a price for drinks. I believe they do it cheaper on a Sunday but add on as much as they can to make the most money they can. Found this establishment to be very dishonest and not transparent so will not be returning

Pedimos una comida para llevar, que para ser honestos fue la peor que hemos tenido. Pedimos tres platos de pollo que goteaban en aceite. El keema naan simplemente no era como hemos tenido keema naans antes, era tan delgado y distendido. Los platos estaban cubiertos de aceite y no tenían sabor

Astonishingly bad! Pre-ordered a group meal for delivery well in advance (the day before it was required and paid upfront). £82 for a meal for 3, so pricey. It didn’t arrive. Chased by phone - it eventually turned up 40 minutes late and was all but inedible bar the poppadoms. Food was tepid, dried up, and meat dishes were so chewy you couldn’t eat them, rice was clumpy, naans limp and sag agloo tasted heavily of smoke. Dreadful. Called to complain. Manager agreed a partial refund which I’ve never seen despite chasing up, and my email remains unanswered. Bad enough the evening with friends was totally ruined but to not even follow up with an agreed refund is appalling. Don’t waste your money, eat elsewhere.

Booked table for 6.30 a few days ago. Turned up on time last night gave our name and was told immediately we had to go before 8. When I said we have booked he said yes but we’re busy tonight. Was not impressed at. The food was good but thought it was overpriced by a lot service was ok but rushed. Don’t think I would go back again. Had better and for a lot less

It’s over 4 years I order from India Gate and it’s always great! I always get my food delivered or I collect I’ve actually never sat down but I always see the place very busy. The vegetarian food is amazing, the food always arrive piping hot and I can pay by card at the delivery I love it. My favorite take away in beccles!

The food was excellent but they need to improve their service. Because i ordered food and salad but they didn't provide me salad and add that charge on my bill.

Llegó aquí el sábado a la hora del té después de ser arrastrado junto con la multitud en York. Casi me pierdo el cruce para esto en la oscuridad de la A 64, ya que no hay señales iluminadas y no había luces en la A 64, donde era tan peligroso para los coches detrás, también con nosotros teniendo que romper de repente No hay mucho ambiente dentro y el personal no tenía una sonrisa entre ellos El pollo tikka fue el peor que he probado. ¡Vino en un plato, no en un plato chispeante y estaba todo arrugado junto a una ensalada! ¡Incluso los pocos pimientos y cebollas sabían extraños al lado! Debería haberlo devuelto realmente, ya que estaba tan seco y no venía con un lado de salsa de verduras como la mayoría de los lugares. Las otras comidas estaban bien Lo único que disfrutamos fueron los poppadoms ¡Evita!

Ordered a takeaway, portion sizes were miserly and not what you would expect for the price.. chicken tikka was tiny, chicken pakora was pretty unappealing. A real shame as it used to be our go to..

It was our first visit here but had heard good things about the food, so decided to give it a go. When we arrived, we were the only guests in there other than someone who was waiting for a take away. There was no music so the atmosphere felt dead. We nearly walked out but decided to take a seat. The waiter asked for drinks and we asked if he could put some music on, which he did. Drinks arrived and the menus came. Have to say that there was a great selection of food. The Mrs ordered Onion Bhaji and Chicken Tikka Masala, I tasted both which were excellent, the chicken was succulent and packed with flavour. I had Sheek Kebab and Keema Bhuna. The Bhuna was one of the best I’d tasted. The Naan Breads were very light and fluffy and made to perfection. Overall our experience was not to be put off the atmosphere which was lacking. But the flavour of the food was exceptional. We will be back and recommend this to anyone reading this.

Very disappointing experience. Joined friends for a meal. I ordered tandoori fish, my meal arrived late, had obviously been forgotten. Was served with 4 chunks of white fish with a red something drizzled on top, salt granules and a few strips of lettuce. Was dreadful, could not eat it. There was only one waiter, service was slow and portions small. Would not go back.

My Bhoona was very bland. The rest of the meal was fine
