The best restaurants serving French food in East of England

My grandparents were raving about this place and decided to bring me. The restaurant is small but run by a really friendly husband and wife team, which really makes the place lovely and a true local business. We all had entrecote and frites and I had a chocolate mousse for dessert. The steak was well cooked, and to the English standard, rather than the French standard, medium rare is truly medium rare. Having just returned from Skiing in France, this was very welcome. The chocolate mousse was a lovely way to cleanse the palate. I will definitely be brought here again.

We visited the Hidden Chef last night as we wanted to enjoy the experience one last time, and to support Dean and Co in their last weekend at the Brasserie. Once again the food was exceptional and the atmosphere friendly and welcome. We will miss having this wonderful restaurant on our door step but are delighted that we will be able to savour Deans delights from the Deli. What a great little place this is - a real asset to the high street with an interesting menu and wine list. We were there on a very busy Friday evening and staff were working hard to serve everyone with drinks and food orders. We had a bit of a wait for our food but, in the meantime, we enjoyed a bottle of wine and we got chatting to a couple of ladies on the next table - it's that type of place, friendly and informal. Our sharing platter was fabulous, I love this idea of a bit of everything on a plate! All in all, a great evening and experience. Our only disappointment is that we don't live nearer to De la Terre - we'd be frequent diners if we did!

Delicious crepe, really tasty with plenty of filling. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning!

This place is very close to our house. We buy cakes from there for all the occasions. Cakes are always fresh and tasty. They also do breakfast and coffee. I recommend this place.

Lacklustre starter - deep fried brie but main was good .we were very disappointed that there was no cheese board on offer. Very good service

Nice venue (if it's not raining) cakes expensive (£3.50), scones no cream & no carrot cake. But service quick & efficient. Nicely kept lake/pond & nice view.

Visitamos aquí un sábado por la noche, ya que ha sido recientemente inaugurado. Me quedé muy impresionado con él, la camarera fue muy amable y eficiente. La comida llegó rápido y estaba muy bien preparado. Opté por el risotto y era precioso. Mi novia tiene la SODA burger y quedé impresionado con esto. En general, fue excelente y sin duda volveremos de nuevo.

DELICIOSO asado de domingo - sin duda volverá! Sopa de setas para empezar - terroso y rico. Carne asada para el plato principal, porciones medianamente raras y generosas, ¡queso de coliflor súper queso!

Good atmosphere, little gem of a place, hidden away. Parking tricky. If you fancy fish, good place to go. Good value. Personal. Friendly.

A celebration birthday dinner for my wife. The whole experience from the cordial and enthusiastic greeting on a cold March night right throughout the entire dinner was of high quality and as some reviews indicate one that you expect at Michelin starred establishments. The menu was well balanced with a leaning on classic French dishes all with little modern twists. A three course set menu, but with plenty of choices. The wine list was extensive without being encyclopaedic in its size! It gave all diners the opportunity to find something just right for their palate. As booked on line some weeks ago I’d forgotten that I had mentioned to the restaurant that it was my wife’s birthday, but they hadn’t. A nice touch. Service was excellent, not overbearing but attentive at exactly the right times. A really excellent evening and will certainly be visiting again.
