Mill Race Teashop

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
10/11/2019: Lovely teashop nicely decorated inside. Pleny of seating. Massive choice of cakes and other goodies. The cherry and almond scone was to die for and was warm! The coffee was hot and plentiful in a caffetiere. Definitely worthy of a visit.
10/11/2019: Spectacular setting by waterfalls in old mill. Very helpful friendly service. Good coffee and toast with excellent jam. Nice decor. Thoroughly recommend the walk down the river afterwards. Good day out!

The Kings Arms

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
10/11/2019: We enjoyed a cosy atmosphere with delicious food and very friendly, helpful staff. The restaurant was recommended to us by our accommodation - with the suggestion of booking in advance- and we were not disappointed.
03/11/2019: The restaurant is a cosy contrast to lively pub bar full of locals but it’s busy too, with very good food pleasantly served, so be sure to book. We heard that the Tuesday Pie Night is particularly popular. Our mains of Liver & Bacon and Drovers Pie were good and generous.

Sykes Bed & Breakfast &Tearoom

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
09/11/2019: We were staying in the village and popped in here numerous times. They sold all the items you would expect from a small shop. Can recommend the sausages and bacon - a million miles better than supermarket stuff. The cooked ham, cut to order was also excellent and super value. The staff were very friendly every time I popped in and I was very pleased to support this local estabilishment whilst I was staying here.
02/10/2019: This bed & breakfast establishment is also the only general shop in the village. It supplies newspapers and an assortment of daily needs.

Yorebridge House

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
07/11/2019: Excellent reception from all of the friendly, professional staff.
03/11/2019: Yorebridge House is outstanding. Nearby pub restaurants include very good ones, but this stands apart and above. The 3-course menu for £60 is superb, and supplemented by exquisite extra tastes and amuses. We majored on the tasty Yorkshire Venison. Great wines and service.

08/10/2019: A biking day so this place was a must try. It was wet and horrible outside, but the welcome was genuine and warm.

Corn Mill Tearoom

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
06/11/2019: We dropped in after riding Fleak Moss and before Fleet Moss. It was a welcome place to stock up on food. They catered well for us, with quite young staff coping fine and promptly. They were flexible enough to tweak my order to add some extras. Good to have wifi too.
06/11/2019: Dropped in for quick lunch at the start of our walk. Friendly staff. Excellent egg sandwich with tasty soup.

Golden Lion

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
10/11/2019: Nice friendly pub with lovely roaring fire. Nice atmosphere although not very busy on the 2 nights we went it on the weekend. Prime position in the town with outside seating.
22/10/2019: Stopped of in here for lunch as it was dog friendly, its a very cosy pub and the staff was very friendly to us and our dog shadow. I ordered the house burger which was large portion and delicious, my partner ordered a blt sandwich which was delicious to. Did not have to wait long for food to arrive, quick service. The food and drinks are responsible priced here, wish i found this place first, as some pubs we visited before was a bit pricey.

Streethead Inn

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
27/10/2019: We are very disappointed with our stay at Streethead Inn. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. You can feel every spring on the mattress and we therefore didn't have a good night sleep. The duvet was dated and soiled. There were also cobwebs above the television. On top of all these, we were awakened by the fire alarm going off at 1am. The fire alarm was extremely loud and had gone off for quite sometime. We tried to contact the landlord as he does not reside within the premises but sadly there was no reply. The pub chef later on came out to inform us that he has re-set the fire alarm. The landlord needs to review their fire alarm protocol as the residents were left to their own devices at the start and we didn't know what to do or where to assemble. Considering that the cost for the night was £90, we would not rate it as value for money and our entire experience was exceedingly terrible.
10/10/2019: Perfectly ok lunch. My friend had lasagne which didn't taste of much. I had a chicken Caesar salad which had no ingredients in it that a Caesar salad should. Except for the bottled dressing in a jug. Seemed to be one waitress and one chef working. Bar unattended and little interest in customers. Never mind!

The George and Dragon Inn Restaurant

Addlebrough, Richmondshire, 45-60£
11/11/2019: Came here for a drink, took ages to get served, had some sort of brown stain in the bottomof my glass and the landlady seemed to have less life than a deflated balloon... Yeah il give this one a miss in future.
04/11/2019: Not fancy but a nice atmosphere and the food was traditional pub fare, well cooked and nicely presented. Very dog friendly too. Would definitely go again

Restaurant at White Rose Hotel

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
09/11/2019: We went here for a midweek evening meal. The bar area looked dated so first impressons weren't great. Having a large TV on (Coronation Street isn't my favourite programme at the best of times) and background music on at the same time didn't really add to the atmosphere however the staff were friendly and prompt so we ordered our food; fish and chips and lasagne. The fish and chips were straight out the freezer and into the fryer and the lasagne was half the size we would normally expect. We were still hungry so tried the blackberry eton mess. I am not sure if there was ever any meringue but all we could find was a huge lump of cream with a few berries on top.
20/10/2019: Arrived at the White Rose about 6.30 pm . We were so happy and ready to enjoy our weekend away. We went to check in. The women who was looking after us had the most sour looking face on her. She gave us our key, told us our room was up 4 flights of stairs. Then turn left and we would find our number 8 room down there. Nobody showed us to the room or were interested on if we found it or not. The room was very dated but clean. Plenty of draws and hanging space. We unpacked then went back down to the bar. The same women served up ( still with a sour face) We got our drinks then asked if we could book a table. The restaurant was half empty but we still had to wait 1hour. It seemed to us people could only go into the restaurant to there table every half an hour . We finally got sat down .Our order was taken and the wait started . 25 minutes later our starters came. They had forgotten to put grated cheese on my husbands starter . there was no one around to tell so we let it go. Then.about 40 minutes later our main course arrived. Looked good. Did not ask if there anything else that we wanted just rushed off. My husband wanted some French mustard . So he put his hand up to call her over to him and as she came rushing past him she court his hand. She turned around and shouted at him saying Did you pock me that is an asult . We felt very uncomfortable. I just wanted to go back to our room out off the way We paid our bill and went back to our room. Could not believe what had just happened . We thought we would forget about it and hope that she was not serving breakfast.

The Rose and Crown

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
29/10/2019: We eat here every time we stay in Bainbridge and have not had a bad meal yet. The steak pie is great as is the Yorkshire pudding with melt in the mouth beef. This pub gets some awful reviews-yes it is not Michelin star quality, but it is really good traditional Yorkshire food in one of the oldest pubs around. Take your sense of humour with you too!
17/09/2019: Having visited the Rose and Crown in the past this visit was to be our last. The young waitress, who had great difficulty with the English Language. was the only person doing all the work. at the very busy bar, taking orders, and clearing tableswhile the Landlord didn't do much apart from giving orders. Our meal was brought in by a very strange man who almost threw our meals at us in a a very unpleasand ignorant manner. I dared to ask him if I could have some mayonnaise since there were no condiments on the table. He muttered something, glowered at me and eventually returned with it. The young waitress came over and apologised for his behaviour saying that he was in a very bad mood. Our meals were not up to standard and over priced for what they were. We asked several times for our bill, the Landlord said he couldn't do it because he couldn't read the waitresses writing. I told him we had to leave then and eventually he did do it. An unpleasant atmosphere in the entire place and most people were appearing to be of the same opinion as us,.I agree with previous comments as we too remarked at the time, that it was like visiting The Adams family. Bainbridge is a lovely village, what a shame about the awful pub.

Askrigg Village Kitchen

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
26/09/2017: This place sells lovely cakes and other homemade goodies. They also do takeaway meals, frozen or fresh. The standard is high. Otherwise, you can sit inside or outside and enjoy coffee, a light meal or snack. A great alternative to the three pubs with their food in their village.
12/05/2017: Popped in for a cup of tea mid-walk. It's a very friendly, welcoming local tea shop of offering fresh home cooked cakes to go with your tea... and take out meals if you're self catering. Lovely spot.

The Dales Room

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
01/10/2014: Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting and excellent dinner, unfortunately the service was very poor. Staff not trained and young lady at the bar extremely rude!!!
10/08/2013: We should have known better ! - At the bar a gentleman was given wine in a dirty glass (lipstick traces). The barman was reluctant to give a menu before 6pm as though people ordering food would promote a hassle. One gentleman was directed to look at the specials board. As he was Australian he had never had dumplings before, the board offered either lamb or beef stew with dumplings but the bar man then told the gentleman he did not know why dumplings were on the specials board as they had never been served before with that dish in the three months he had worked there ! The barman recommended lasagne with garlic bread to us as he had just had the very same for his tea, to cut a long story short....the lasagne was tastless, no herbs or spice, it was served with chips, no garnish, we had to wait a further 10mins for condiments, garlic bread had to be requested, this turned out to be a panini halved with what appeared to be a smearing of margarine dosed with a smearing of garlic. The chef came out and made us feel guilty for not eating the garlic bread. He presented as a person unfit to work in a kitchen. Having stroked our dog that had rolled in sheep poo, then showed us his stomach before returning to cook in his kitchen. we were aghast when settling the bill that the barman could not recall having served us 3 rounds of drinks prior to the meal. No - we did not take advantage of the ineptitude of the staff. Attend this pub just for a laugh - believe us it is crazy crazy crazy !!
