Mill Race Teashop

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
23/02/2020: We always stop off here when visiting the spectacular Aysgarth Falls. Dogs are welcome as are muddy boots. My husband and I both had the chunky veg soup served with a delicious warm cheese scone. Good value and tasty too.
19/02/2020: Delighted to find this little tea shop open in February, between Storms Ciara and Dennis, we stepped inside to a warm welcome and surprisingly large menu. Wishing we'd not had a big cooked breakfast at our B & B I chose one of the many varieties of loose tea available - a British blend of Cornish (!) and Assam tea while my husband was pleased to find a pot of decaffinated coffee available. I couldn't resist a spicy toasted teacake while we enjoyed reading about the history of the mill on a laminated sheet. The Wifi code was on the table and was fast enough for me to upload the photos I'd taken of the Falls. Prices are extremely reasonable and we wish this lovely little cafe the success it deserves.

The Kings Arms

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
22/02/2020: Stayed at the Kings Arms through HPB and as usual our room was of a superior standard. We decided to dine in the restaurant for both evenings as the general atmosphere was welcoming and staff very friendly. I'm on a diet but I needn't have worried as there was plenty choice although I must point out the portions are generous. My husband had mushroom with blue cheese starter which he said was absolutely delicious. He also had Drover's Pie and reckons I really missed out, however I was happy with chicken on first evening and sea bass on second evening.
21/02/2020: Set in Askrigg, the Television home of All Creatures Great and Small vet practice building the pub featured in many episodes of the show. It is therefore no surprise that the walls are adorned with photos of cast and crew.

The Manor Cafe

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
20/01/2020: The small breakfast was absolutely delicious! One of everything but large! Even gluten free sausages, we will certainly come again!!
24/11/2019: I have been to this place a few time, usually on a bike. This time I was in a car in a cold wet Sunday. The place was quite quiet, but the boss was happy to see everyone. Great price, perfect cake!

Yorebridge House

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
13/01/2020: We walked, on a cold wet and dark January evening. The ill-lit front door at the roadside remained obdurately resistant until eventually we found a small plaque and deciphered the instructions to use the new front door by the car park - if you drive here you will have no such trouble
05/01/2020: We had Sunday lunch here the week before Christmas. Some of the food was really, really good, including the soup and the pistachio cake, and the Yorkshire puddings, but the beef wasn’t that tender and had some gristle in it, and the vegetarian main, gnocchi was totally tasteless. My son left most of it, yet the waiting staff took no notice. Hence the average review.

Corn Mill Tearoom

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
06/11/2019: We dropped in after riding Fleak Moss and before Fleet Moss. It was a welcome place to stock up on food. They catered well for us, with quite young staff coping fine and promptly. They were flexible enough to tweak my order to add some extras. Good to have wifi too.
06/11/2019: Dropped in for quick lunch at the start of our walk. Friendly staff. Excellent egg sandwich with tasty soup.

Golden Lion

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
12/01/2020: Called in whilst walking the dogs with my wife. Pleasant staff, warm friendly pub and good food. Good beer too
10/12/2019: Food was very good, most attractively presented, with nice little extras. Was just thinking i wish there were more veg on my plate when bowl of delicious veg appeared, over and above the sprouts and roast spuds already on the plate. Four more firm but hot and cooked veg. Extra gravy and sauce too. Jugs of water on the table. Coffee with mince pies, fruit cake and grapes to follow. And more coffee brought when I asked. All cheerfully served. Well done all. We were well cared for. Thank you.

Streethead Inn

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
27/10/2019: We are very disappointed with our stay at Streethead Inn. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. You can feel every spring on the mattress and we therefore didn't have a good night sleep. The duvet was dated and soiled. There were also cobwebs above the television. On top of all these, we were awakened by the fire alarm going off at 1am. The fire alarm was extremely loud and had gone off for quite sometime. We tried to contact the landlord as he does not reside within the premises but sadly there was no reply. The pub chef later on came out to inform us that he has re-set the fire alarm. The landlord needs to review their fire alarm protocol as the residents were left to their own devices at the start and we didn't know what to do or where to assemble. Considering that the cost for the night was £90, we would not rate it as value for money and our entire experience was exceedingly terrible.
10/10/2019: Perfectly ok lunch. My friend had lasagne which didn't taste of much. I had a chicken Caesar salad which had no ingredients in it that a Caesar salad should. Except for the bottled dressing in a jug. Seemed to be one waitress and one chef working. Bar unattended and little interest in customers. Never mind!

The George and Dragon Inn Restaurant

Addlebrough, Richmondshire, 45-60£
10/12/2019: Called for Lunch and got a very warm welcome from the owner. Made a special BLT for me which was fabulous / huge portion and absolutely delicious. Will definitely return.
07/12/2019: Seeing isolated bad reviews just made me more curious to find out what this place and its staff were really like. I can understand that an old, quirky, but very efficiently run pub and restaurant will not be to everyone's liking, but don't run down their business online, please.

Restaurant at White Rose Hotel

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
19/02/2020: It's often quiet there, but a pleasent and calm quiet rather than awkward. I prefer that to tons of noise where you can hardly hear your self think let alone hear anyone who's with you. Today was the best Madras I've ever had, and I've had many!. The sticky toffee pudding is the nicest you can get. Staff are nice, especially at the bar
18/02/2020: Fist impressions of the hotel are that it is a little in need of a new carpet - but forget that. The restaurant is very nice and the staff are lovely, the menu is extensive and not expensive and the food is great. We ate here twice on our week's holiday.

The Rose and Crown

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
03/02/2020: Called in half way through a long walk. Just for a beer really, but place didn't look that clean, our table was wet where a drink had been spilt but not cleaned - only us in so there should have been time to clean up. Dog friendly but dogs water bowl looked like it had never been cleaned. Wouldn't chose to eat there.
29/10/2019: We eat here every time we stay in Bainbridge and have not had a bad meal yet. The steak pie is great as is the Yorkshire pudding with melt in the mouth beef. This pub gets some awful reviews-yes it is not Michelin star quality, but it is really good traditional Yorkshire food in one of the oldest pubs around. Take your sense of humour with you too!

Askrigg Village Kitchen

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
05/01/2020: Visited this new venture now know as Bake Well
26/09/2017: This place sells lovely cakes and other homemade goodies. They also do takeaway meals, frozen or fresh. The standard is high. Otherwise, you can sit inside or outside and enjoy coffee, a light meal or snack. A great alternative to the three pubs with their food in their village.

Sykes Bed & Breakfast &Tearoom

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
19/02/2020: Tiny but homely. Friendly staff and nice food. Rather peaceful there. It's cute how it's is also the post office.
09/11/2019: We were staying in the village and popped in here numerous times. They sold all the items you would expect from a small shop. Can recommend the sausages and bacon - a million miles better than supermarket stuff. The cooked ham, cut to order was also excellent and super value. The staff were very friendly every time I popped in and I was very pleased to support this local estabilishment whilst I was staying here.

The Dales Room

Addlebrough, Richmondshire
01/10/2014: Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting and excellent dinner, unfortunately the service was very poor. Staff not trained and young lady at the bar extremely rude!!!
10/08/2013: We should have known better ! - At the bar a gentleman was given wine in a dirty glass (lipstick traces). The barman was reluctant to give a menu before 6pm as though people ordering food would promote a hassle. One gentleman was directed to look at the specials board. As he was Australian he had never had dumplings before, the board offered either lamb or beef stew with dumplings but the bar man then told the gentleman he did not know why dumplings were on the specials board as they had never been served before with that dish in the three months he had worked there ! The barman recommended lasagne with garlic bread to us as he had just had the very same for his tea, to cut a long story short....the lasagne was tastless, no herbs or spice, it was served with chips, no garnish, we had to wait a further 10mins for condiments, garlic bread had to be requested, this turned out to be a panini halved with what appeared to be a smearing of margarine dosed with a smearing of garlic. The chef came out and made us feel guilty for not eating the garlic bread. He presented as a person unfit to work in a kitchen. Having stroked our dog that had rolled in sheep poo, then showed us his stomach before returning to cook in his kitchen. we were aghast when settling the bill that the barman could not recall having served us 3 rounds of drinks prior to the meal. No - we did not take advantage of the ineptitude of the staff. Attend this pub just for a laugh - believe us it is crazy crazy crazy !!
