A small cafe big on taste! We sat in the bright sunshine opposite the Skeldale House of the TV series "All Creatures Great and Small." Order inside and then our lunch and coffees were delivered to us quickly. Great sandwiches and good coffees made for a delightful lunch stop while touring the Yorkshire Dales.

The only cafe in the village. We had coffee one morning and discovered that they did frozen meals to take away. We were not disappointed and they were excellent.

It's a shame to give anything other than 5 stars for this excellent cafe, because it really is great and I always pop in when visiting the area. My one and only complaint is about the fact they charge extra for soya or oat milk. What is the justification? The cost difference to them can't be much - and if it really was about the cost difference to the business then you would charge customers less who have their tea or coffee black, but you don't - so it can only be because you see customers who don't want or can't drink cow's milk as a bit of a money-making opportunity, which I really object to.

Askrigg found just off theA684 at Bainbridge. The Bake-Well is a small deli cum cafe. Parking is sometimes a challenge but a visit makes the effort worthwhile with a good range of baked goods and the best cream tea we have ever had. Also has outside seating.9

Lovely carrot cake and a nice pot of tea. The cafe is quite snug inside (seats 10) but there are tables outside. The only downside is that they have shut their customer toilet (I asked why and the assistant said that she didn't know) and tell you to use the one in the church hall, but it wasn't open when we visited.

A great place to visit for a pie or cake to take away with a coffee. A delicious array of pies, pastries and cakes are on offer and the choice changes every day. There is a small inside seating area but with such good food on offer you will be lucky to get a seat! (But it is worth trying and they also have a larger café in Bainbridge) If the weather happens to be nice, there are also some tables outside. Highlight of our visits this week were the pork pies - a beautiful crisp thin pastry enveloping a firm, peppery and wonderfully tasty pork meat filling.

My boyfriend and I visited while staying in Askrigg and we were not disappointed. We sat in and had a coffee and some food which was absolutely delicious! Unlike the pub at Bainbridge, which serves food all day, the King’s Arms at Askrigg stops lunch food at 2pm with no flexibility. So if you arrive at 2.05pm, as I did, the only option is a pie, sausage roll or sandwich from the Bake-Well next door, which you can bring back to the pub to have with your pint. I enjoyed my ham and coleslaw, the coronation chicken not so much.

Out with friends and disappointed to find the Corn Mil (their other cafe) in Bainbridge closed but delighted to find the Bake-well open in Askrigg. We happily demolished a delightful quiche salad, a Coronation chicken sandwich and a packed meat pie all washed down with tasty coffees. It's a bit of an inconvenience not to have toilets available and so a quick visit to a nearby pub was called for! I'm going to hit the cakes next time!

Found right in the heart of Askrigg, the Bake-well is our go to bakers for both cake and take away lunch provisions. Sausage rolls and pies are simply sublime, cakes are moist, light, airy and very large. Always served with a smile and a cracking price. Couldn't recommend more.
