Looked like a really nice pub very Yorkshire we visited a few times during our stay and got to know a few regulars which was nice. Just a word of warning the local busy bodie who's names Jackie, seems to be there alot. Became apparent all she does is talk very negative about locals and visitors its a real put off. Lucky for us there's another 2 pubs in the village which are lovely.

Great little pub. Food is basic but good and well priced. Mark had bean stew with rice and I had cold yorkshire ham with chips and salad. Both meals were very tasty and enjoyable. Mark had a few pints of Semmerwater ale, he said it was a really good pint! We were staying in our camper in the field at the rear of the pub, absolutely fantastic views. Loo and sink in shed in the corner of field with hot water. Which was very clean,All down to Louise who never stopped working the whole time we were there. Everyone was very friendly and made us feel welcome This place is very high on our list to revisit very soon.

We decide to eat out here on the last night of our holiday. We walked from Bainbridge along the river and through fields which was about 1,5 miles. We ordered the steak pie, chicken stuffed with leeks and cheese, a locally sourced burger and scampi with chips and vegetables or salad. The chips were hot, the salad was creative and the vegetables were cooked well -peas, cabbage and carrots. Portion sizes were large and it was all tasty -just what we needed after a day out in the fresh air. The steak pie was jam packed with meat. We had icecream and a sticky toffee pudding for dessert with custard. Both were spot on. The young man who was waiting tables was efficient and checked back on us. The lady behind the bar was friendly and engaging, which made us feel welcomed and wanting to return. The pub was busy with all tables filled at some point over the evening in and people drinking at the bar. The beer was good with 3-4 different ales and a range of different ciders. Definitely recommend.

Pleasant looking inside & out with friendly àtmosphere and staff. Good choice of beers (some local) and comfortable seating. Quite a limited menu but fairly typical pub grub, with large portions and fair value. My wife enjoyed a huge piece of cod while I had scampi & chips...both cooked well and tasty. My local ale was hoppy and tastywhile my wife's gin & tonic was also appreciated. Total cost was just over £38...fair value.

We visited in October and was surprised to see how well the pub was doing with the COVID guidelines. Every table had high alcohol content hand sanitiser, all of the staff were wearing masks properly and cleaning tables and chairs very well. Toilets were spotless and the staff were obviously taking everything very seriously. Can’t fault the visit, was a nice change compared to pubs elsewhere where the guidelines aren’t being followed or aren’t being followed properly.

Went in on Sunday afternoon to make sure they were serving food in the evening. Had drink, landlord took a long time to acknowledge us at the bar as he continued to chat to two chaps at the bar. We were served eventually and sat down but found the atmosphere unwelcoming and that we were intruding. We had eaten here on previous visit to Askrigg and found this visit very disappointing. Needless to say we went to one of the other places to eat. Also, the drinks, we always order the same were over a pound more expensive than the Kings Arms and White Rose in the village.Perhaps the landlord was having an off night but we shan't try it again, unless it changes hands of course.

My wife and I had a superb meal in the Crown last night. It is one of my favourite pubs and is always one of the highlights of a trip to Askrigg. The pub is run by a lovely family and the food is beautifully cooked and well sourced. If you want traditional pub food cooked to a high standard then this is the place for you. The prices are very fair and you wont go home hungry. The real ale and open fires are an added bonus and the locals are friendly. We were staying at the HPB site in the vilage so had to visit all the pubs in Askrigg. This one turned out to be the best (but doesn't look a lot from the outside). We received a very friendly welcome and on a damp Sunday sat in front of the roaring range. We had the roast dinner which lived up to it's reputation of large portions and was excellent, home cooked pub grub. We had some room for dessert so opted for the jam sponge and lemon meringue. Both excellent. Dogs are welcome throughout. The decor is little spartan but in good order and I guess geared to the many walkers who will pass by. It is great to see a pub run by the community and used as a community hub (we didn't attend the 'Knit and Natter' but my wife was tempted).

We went to the Crown Inn on the last day of our holiday even though it was a 40-mile round trip from where we were staying, because we had fond memories of the food when we last visited back in 2017 and wanted to see if it was still as good. We needn't have worried - it's still excellent! I ordered the steak pie, my wife had the beef lasagne and my son had the sausages, chips and veg. The nice and polite lady behind the bar said we might have to wait a little longer for the food because they had just had several orders placed at once, but in the end we only had to wait about 25 minutes for the food to arrive, and it didn't matter anyway because we were thoroughly enjoying the real ale (good selection available). The food was a generous amount in each case and was cooked to perfection (with the exception of the broccolli which was a little bit overcooked). My steak pie was exceptional! Perfectly tender meat in a gravy which was delicious. My son asked if we could get sausages like the ones he had back home, and my wife was extremely pleased with her lasagne. If you want your food served in a twee little pile, drizzled with expensive olive oil and served on a plank of wood then go somewhere else, but if you want a traditional and extremely delicous pub meal then The Crown Inn is for you. You won't regret it. We will be back.

We ordered the mixed roast witch was a bit of each meat, roast potatoes, brocolli, carrots, cauliflower cheese, boiled potatoes, peas, roast parsnip, a beautiful yorkshire pudding and lovely meaty tasty gravy. The meal was delicious and very good value. Its probably the best pub roast I have ever had. (yes its true!) I washed this down with a pint of the local brew which was as fresh and light a beer as you could wish for. I was so full I couldnt hardly move. I ordered at the bar and they bring it to you at the table.

This is a true village local. Excellent choice of ales, friendly staff and clientele. The food is brilliant with a good choice and all at very reasonable prices. Well worthy of a visit and my favourite eatery in Askrigg

Just had 10 days in Askrigg and visited a lot of local pubs. The beer was on top form, absolutely superb. The food was really good too, served quickly and in quantities that meant that after my first visit i had to switch to the smaller portions which were ample... and i like my food.

Real pub with strong local support and of course, lots of walkers/cyclists too. Good beer and generous portions of straightforward locally supplied food. Good value.

Excellent value for money- huge portions of home cooked food, family (and dog) friendly, slightly longer than usual wait time but well worth it!

We arrived at 7 oclock and got a table straight away even though it was quite busy. We enjoyed our Black Sheep bitter while we waited for our food. There was quite a long wait for the food to come but thats the price you pay for having it cooked fresh. When it came it was well worth the wait. I had the roast lamb with veg and it was not only very good but also very large. I would eat there again if I was in the area.

A great village pub that does good ales and food. Not a massive menu but there is still a good choice to go at. I recommend the gammon steak ! A great pub just to sit and have a drink and relax.

We were recommended to this Inn by family. Good choice of menu, large or small dishes. Enjoyed our meal of sausage in Yorkshire pudding with gravy, vegetables and fish bites and vegetables. A good pint of black sheep ale and half of lager. Quick service considering it was busy.

Quirky for sure but very friendly and very keen to please. The soup we had was delicious and having leaf tea was a treat. Scones on the table is a lovely idea but a cover would be better. Lovely chat with the proprietor and really good at engaging with our whole family.

On edge of village in mini light industrial area of Reeth a few minutes from green. Well run. Nice food. Couple of alley tables. No real view though.

Just thought I would take the opportunity and time to give credit where it’s due! I have read through some of the reviews from 2022 and can only imagine that there was a hang over from Covid , or there must have been different owners? I couldn’t praise this establishment highly enough. This is the only Pub in the small hamlet of Redmire , and the centre of the community. It was a wonderful mixture of friendly ambience with excellent traditional food. 3 of us visited in June , and after dining on the Monday, we ate there for the rest of the week, and never had anything other than a good meal, trying different dishes every night! We are returning again in August , and will probably dine again every evening during our vacation. This is a fantastic local pub serving quality traditional food made from locally sourced produce. If people are expecting Haute cuisine, then they need to manage their expectations, and probably dine elsewhere, leaving more capacity for the customers that appreciate it. As far as we are concerned…. Well done and keep up the good work! 👍👍👍

Would have been 5 if barmaid hadn't put a full bottle of tonic in our gin. You serve it so customer puts what they want in and had to ask fir a slice of lemon 🍋
