We were stopping in the village, and we had a wedding to attend the day after. We reserved a table at the Angel Inn has it was just yards from we're we wad stopping.nice looking pub, typical country style inside and out. Great service, good selection of drinks. Polite staff.we ordered food, which, when arrived, was well presented and very tasty. There are tables out front so you can sit in the sunshine but even better a loverly rear beer garden within a orchard with a stream flow at the bottom.very peaceful definitely would recommend.

Great food all homemade. Would recommend calling before if sitting down for a meal to book a reservation due to how busy they are as was lucky to arrive when they had an opening. They do allow dogs in the bar but not where the food is served so if going to the bar for anything may be a dog.

We thought we would drop in for lunch on our way to the lake district and were greeted by what could only be described as the most miserable member of staff in history! She definitely wasn't happy about the fact that we hadn't booked a table but showed us to a table nonetheless. We ordered what was described as a bacon chop with creamy mash and a prawn sandwich with a side of chips. The 'mash ' was the cheapest frozen mash pellets and wasn't even 'cooked 'properly as it was still grainy and basically inedible. To be fair the prawn sandwich was actually quite nice but the chips were also frozen and quite horrible definitely not homemade. We also had a glass of diet coke each which was out of a large bottle and was flat and warm. Never again!!

Another amazing pie from Debbie! The best in the dale, if not much further afield. Nothing comes from a packet, and the beer is there to match, with happy repartee. A real treat. Check Facebook in the low seasons for opening times - that seems to be the best way to check

A really lovely country pub with a very warm welcome, and a good selection of well-priced dishes on the menu. Our meals came in a reasonable time, and were worth waiting for. The steak and ale pie was home made with excellent pastry and filling, while the gravy was absolutely delicious. All of the vegetables and chips were beautifully cooked and very fresh, and the portions were very good indeed. The Taylor's Landlord was in very good fettle, and whether just for a drink, or a meal, it's well worth visiting. Highly recommended.

Booked a table here for 12 of us to celebrate my mothers 70th. From the minute we entered we were made to feel very unwelcome. Barmaid very unhappy at pouring 12 drinks, waitress the same at taking 12 orders for food and all served with a frown! I would not recommend this place for drink or food. Rather than being hospitable the staff seem put out by performing the service they signed up for.

Not quite sure what we walked into! It certainly wasn't the pub we read the rave reviews about. There were a group of men sat near the main entrance who couldn't hold their conversation without every other word being the "F" word. Certainly didn't feel welcome. We only had a choice of food written on a chalk board. Had a drink and left. Not recommended.

We had Sunday lunch with friends this week I must say it was the best Sunday lunch that I have had in a long time the vegetables were cooked th perfection with a good choice , the staff were very accommodating and we had everything we needed . The only downside was inside where a small dog was allowed to be up on the seating which can only encourage others to do the same ,a small dog basket would have been more preferable as my black trousers were covered in dog hair ,I love animals but there is a place for them .

First day out of lockdown and came across the angel pub, only wanted a quick beer so popped in, masks on and shown to a table by Amber, who looks after front of house and runs the bar, mother runs the kitchen looking after the food.. 2 real ales, Timothy Taylors was my choice, turned out to be a very wise one, superb pint, as we're walking stayed for second, log burner going and locals very friendly, all willing to chat over a pint, returned next day lunchtime fish and chips and chicken parm with fresh veg, some of the best pub food we have had on our travels, thank you the angel, took photos at opening time to avoid crods spoiling pictures,

We had tempura vegetables with garlic mayonnaise and pate to start, followed by pork medallions and chicken parmigiana, all absolutely delicious. Wine was lovely too! We wanted a Sunday lunch so called ahead to make sure they did it and reserve a table. Unfortunately for us it fell below our expectations. My partner had the goats cheese mushrooms which were ok but not exactly main course sized and not very Sunday lunch and I had a aubergine dish in tomato sauce which was very bland. The veg wasn’t very Sunday lunch either although the potatoes dauphinois was very nice and the veg was nicely cooked. The meal was .... ok but it wasn’t what we wanted and it wasn’t particularly tasty. Mine certainly didn’t even taste seasoned. It’s a shame as it’s nice and local but we won’t be returning.

Just thought I would take the opportunity and time to give credit where it’s due! I have read through some of the reviews from 2022 and can only imagine that there was a hang over from Covid , or there must have been different owners? I couldn’t praise this establishment highly enough. This is the only Pub in the small hamlet of Redmire , and the centre of the community. It was a wonderful mixture of friendly ambience with excellent traditional food. 3 of us visited in June , and after dining on the Monday, we ate there for the rest of the week, and never had anything other than a good meal, trying different dishes every night! We are returning again in August , and will probably dine again every evening during our vacation. This is a fantastic local pub serving quality traditional food made from locally sourced produce. If people are expecting Haute cuisine, then they need to manage their expectations, and probably dine elsewhere, leaving more capacity for the customers that appreciate it. As far as we are concerned…. Well done and keep up the good work! 👍👍👍
