The outside appearance is stunning and the website, menu and prices lead us to believe we would get a high quality light lunch. We were greeted like we were a surprise despite booking and were seated in a small lounge with an uncomfortable seat. There was some suggestion we could eat in the other lounge but having taken a peak on my way to the ladies I really didn’t want to eat my lunch on my lap or stay in the uncomfortable chair so we requested to eat in the restaurant at a proper table. There were only 2 other tables and it was deathly quiet. Our sandwiches were ok with a restaurant price tag served with crisps and no garnish. The service was not what I usually experience in Yorkshire and certainly does not motivate me to book again. This test visit has saved me a significant amount of money on the Christmas package as I will certainly be looking elsewhere.

We visited for a birthday celebration and a bit of post operative recuperation. The hotel was perfect - quiet, luxurious, spotless and the staff were faultless. Special mention to Amy who made everything extra special with her warmth and charm. But it is the food that really stands out as the star of the show. Every dish, every mouthful was exquisite. We had the a la carte one night and the tasting menu the other. Anyone who thinks the portions are too small really needs a reality check - this food is about quality not quantity. Certainly worthy of the three rosettes.

Can only say something about the food. It was a bit messy at the beginning. I don't think they often have guests who don't sleep at the hotel or have made a reservation. But in the end we got a nice table. Opted for the all la carte menu. All the dishes chosen were all very tasty. Highly recommended if you want something extra in the Dales

My partner and I during the Christmas period decided to take a trip across the Yorkshire Dales into the Wensleydale area and Aysgarth. We thought it be a good idea to seek something out to eat whilst we were at it. We found Yorebridge House and was interested by it's tasting menu and 3 AA rosette designation. The restaurant/hotel is located in a very quiet village called Bainbridge deep within the Dales. It is quite a drive to get there but it was ultimately worth it and one of the nicest meals we have both had in 2023. Upon arrival we were met with very friendly staff and an absolutely beautiful venue. The colour choices, furniture and decor worked together to create a modern feel in an old building. Hidden alcoves revealed larger rooms and it was actually fun to look around to see what each room looked like. We were sat in the bar for a drink and the initial welcome canapes. The cocktails were great and canapé of beetroot jelly and tapioca were lovely. We were then seated in the main restaurant and began a culinary journey of six wonderful courses. The beef tea was fantastic, we didn't really know what to expect but it burst with flavour and was something I could easily drink a gallon of. The house bread was baked to absolute perfection and paired with the most incredible beef butter. Of all the restaurants I have eaten at with bread and butter courses, this sits at the top of the ladder. The first court of cured trout was complimented with a lovely watercress emulsion and a nice choice of caviar. The fish was meaty and flavoursome and was a great start. The pigeon course was unbelievably good with a lovely barbecued taste and very soft texture. It was cooked beautifully. We were served an interesting scallop course with hazelnuts and a lovely sauce. Scallops in these settings often tend to be raw so it was a welcome change. The venison was the nicest I have had with a wonderful beetroot puree. The desserts were great concluding with a lovely chocolatey mouse/tort paired with homemade ice creams. We of course ended with coffees (to help with the long drive home) and were treat to beautiful petit four of white chocolate and cardoman fudge. This was deep, flavoursome and out of this world. We also had a cross between a jelly sweet and Turkish delight with an intense bergamot flavour. Yorebridge House did an awful lot right from the friendly staff, beautiful venue and excellent food. I would only say that when the venison course was delivered, my partner was in the toilet and rather than bring it out upon her return, the plate was put on the table waiting for her return. I wouldn't have served dishes without everyone being present at the table. It is clear that Yorebridge aspires to obtain a Michelin Star and I don't doubt that it is possible. The food is very good and very fresh and well cooked and although we didn't spend the night in the rooms, judging from what we had seen that would likely have been excellent too. I think the only thing against it for a star is the location, I don't think the Michelin inspectors have the drive to go so far for it which is a shame! It was an overall very enjoyable night. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to the restaurant and would gladly consider spending a night there. The only thing stopping a quick return is the distance.

I had visited Yorebridge pre-COVID and really enjoyed the experience. As it was a significant birthday for me I decided to visit again to celebrate with my wife. The hotel is nicely located within the Yorkshire Dales and is a good size for a boutique hotel experience being a dozen rooms and therefore not overcrowded. I had great attention from the staff who were all very friendly and courteous. The atmosphere of the hotel is very conducive to a special night away which is helped by its location next to the river with extensive grounds. The room was located in the old School House and was spacious with all the accoutrements you would expect. This was separate from the main hotel which was formerly the Headmaster’s House. The bar and lounge spaces were nicely intimate and the restaurant had great views out. I enjoyed a dinner, bed and breakfast deal and the quality was both excellent and very good value for money. I will definitely be returning in the near future as it has been one of my best hotel experiences for quite a while.

We are local to Yorebridge but had never visited and had been meaning to for ages. We were not disappointed; we went for my birthday meal on a Monday in wintery January and had the tasting menu which I understand is a new addition. It was the best meal we have possibly ever eaten, the food was absolutely delicious, every mouthful was savoured. The atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxed and friendly with fabulous staff (each and every one of them) with gorgeous lounge areas to relax in. We cannot wait to come back and have been saying all day how we wish we could rewind to last night’s meal!! We will just have to stay over next time so we can indulge in all the beautiful wine pairings!

We visited for the Sunday Lunch and, just as in our previous visits were once again completely bowled over. Three courses. I chose mushroom soup for my first. I could have dined on this incredible intense flavour all day. Our second course was beef. The wine was a palate-blessing 2016 Amancaya Malbec Cabernet Sauvignon from the Rothschild estate (Lafite) in Mendoza Agentina. Again, in Yorebridge style, the beef was so tender, very special and so satisfying with perfectly cooked veg. For the third course I chose 72% chocolate, raspberry and honeycomb. My wife had sticky toffee pudding and gave me a gorgeous taste of hers whilst I was in the middle of enjoying mine and left me feeling I should have chosen everything and blow the expense. Honestly, it really doesn't matter what you choose at this award winning restaurant. Everything here is such a taste delight. It is little surprise that they are in the process of installing a helicopter landing pad for those who can't get there fast enough!

Enjoyed another stay here (2nd visit) during half term with a 2 night stay in a hot tub room overlooking the river and bridge. Room was nice and spacious, with a comfy bed, and tasteful decor. Only downside was the peeling Zealand round the shower tray, cracked plaster in the toilet on the wall and wonky light shades on the lamps, small things but hotels in this price bracket (5 stars) should be perfect. Outside area and hot tub were fabulous, overlooking the river and nicely lit at night and with total privacy. Are on the hotel both evenings and the food was exquisite. Beautifully cooked and presented with quality drinks and wine list. Had breakfast both mornings too, and I challenge anyone to show me a better full English. The bacon especially is the best I’ve tasted. Would recommend and would defo book for a 3rd visit, although hopefully the slightly scruffy parts of the room would be sorted by then.

We stayed in the kariega room for our second visit to this beautiful boutique hotel in the Yorkshire dales. It was lovely to be welcomed with fizz and home made cookies , however we both felt our welcome was nowhere near as warm as our last visit. Maybe this was down to covid restrictions??The room was absolutely divine and out shone the St Jean room we had stayed it last time . Sitting in the hot tub next to the river was definitely the icing on the cake. Such gorgeous views. Dinner again didn’t seem quite as special as on our last visit. No canapés offered. The staff were keen for us to go straight to our table rather than peruse the menu in the lounge. Again I think this is all to do with covid restrictions. The meal was totally divine and service especially from the super friendly maitre d was great . We did have difficulties hearing what the waitress was saying - masks and visors don’t help at all but again-not her fault. She was lovely. We thought that having a smaller menu may mean we would struggle, but there is certainly something for everyone. My halibut was the star of the show !We had a wonderful relaxing time in the hot tub following dinner and the best nights sleep ever . Neither of us wanted to wake but we were actually excited about breakfast. This is where we felt let down... two serving staff in the dining room obviously wasn’t enough . They were doing their best to look after everyone but it was difficult to get any attention. We wanted juice replenishment- it never appeared. Neither did the tea we asked for. Food was lovely but waiting 35minutes for yoghurt then another 20+ after this for hot food did seem a lot. We then felt in a rush to check out. We do love Yorebridge and wouldn’t hesitate to return, but possibly only if Ion the deal that we paid for. Almost £400 for one nights stay when it seems to be lacking that special touch we felt in our last visit.... it’s too much . Service from the staff we dealt with was great, however at the price’s yorebridge charge for a stay, I don’t believe guests should have a hefty service charge added to their bills. Surely this should be included?

I have never used the word “superb” before in a Tripadvisor review, but Yorebridge House certainly deserves it. The accommodation was stylish, very comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and efficient. But it was the superb food which stood out especially. The three-course dinner menu was excellent value, particularly as every course had an additional surprise amuse-bouche making the meal more like a six-course menu. Each course was presented with care, and the whole meal wouldn’t have been out of place in a Michelin star establishment. We will certainly return again in the near future.

We walked, on a cold wet and dark January evening. The ill-lit front door at the roadside remained obdurately resistant until eventually we found a small plaque and deciphered the instructions to use the new front door by the car park - if you drive here you will have no such troubleWe then received the warmest of welcomes, were shown to a comfortable lounge and furnished with menus and a selection of gins. Amuse bouches followed and an invitation to the table. The stated menu is supplemented by other extras - a little cup of onion soup, a mid point posset, petit fours afterwards. Everything was well prepared and attentively served. We were asked how we came to be there and said it was our silver wedding anniversary - the possets arrived on a decorated anniversary platter (see photo) - a lovely touch. After a delightful evening the restaurant staff asked how we were returning to our b&b and were keen to ensure that we didn’t have to once again face the inclement weather. It was a lovely venue and enhanced our celebratory evening in a special way.

We had Sunday lunch here the week before Christmas. Some of the food was really, really good, including the soup and the pistachio cake, and the Yorkshire puddings, but the beef wasn’t that tender and had some gristle in it, and the vegetarian main, gnocchi was totally tasteless. My son left most of it, yet the waiting staff took no notice. Hence the average review. The iTunes Christmas playlist that was playing was also too loud and ... vigorous. We could have asked for it to be turned down a touch I suppose and would normally but we were tired! The Christmas decorations etc were lovely and it is still somewhere I’d recommend but they need to have a word with the butcher, and taste the veggie food.

A wonderful “special occasion” restaurant. When we made our reservation we were asked if we had any allergies or intolerances. We have multiple allergies between us and all were noted. On arrival we were shown into the lounge area which was prettily decorated with lots of tea lights in glass candle holders. We were brought our drinks and the menus. We were given both the regular and the vegetarian menu to choose from presumably because of our allergies, giving us more options. The set menu consists of 3 courses for £60 per person. This is for three of either starter, main course, dessert or cheese. Coffee is extra but could be substituted for dessert. The menu doesn’t mention all the little extra courses that you also get included. There was a lovely “amuse bouche” which was served to us in the lounge area. There was also another pre-starter course (which was my favourite of all!) and a pre-pudding. So altogether there were actually six courses for £60, not three, plus some freshly baked rolls with butter mousse. The prices on the menu are actually for the wine they recommend to go with each course. You can chose this (we had the one for the main course and it was lovely) or Make your own choice from a separate menu. All the courses were small and delicate but when added up they made a perfectly sized meal. I couldn’t have eaten more, and my husband, who generally prefers larger portions, was also in agreement that the portion sizes were just right. The lady who served us was extremely helpful and happy to chat, or not chat, depending on your preference. She let us know exactly what was in each meal and where substitutions had been made due to our individual food allergies. For example, we both chose the same the main course but one of us is allergic to mushrooms. Mushrooms were not mentioned on the menu but because they already knew who had the mushroom allergy then they brought a slightly different main course with different vegetables. They also knew who to give it to, without asking, and said “I’ll just explain to you why your meals look slightly different”All the food was wonderful, the atmosphere was good and the service fantastic. The guests were all couples but I’m sure non-couples would be made equally as welcome. There was a family with young children at breakfast so I imagine they had also eaten in the restaurant, but probably earlier in the evening. The only thing I would change was to have some subtle background music, as when we first sat down everyone was talking very quietly and at normal volume your conversation would not be private. I’d still go back though, it was absolutely wonderful!

Yorebridge House has been on my list of places to visit for a while, mainly with a view to seeing whether it's somewhere I'd like to stay in the future. Whilst in nearby Kirkby Lonsdale, it made sense to go and see the venue and have a light bite whilst there. The location is beautiful and the house itself full of character. However, the scones we had were really disappointing both in terms of taste and value. At £7.50 each for 2 small scones, I would have expected presentation to be amazing and the taste exceptional. Sadly, neither of these expectations were met. The service was also a bit patchy; friendly staff but left to our own devices for quite a while and had to ask for a second round of drinks. All of the above said, Yorebridge House is still somewhere I would visit again as maybe we were just unlucky on the day we visited.

We were staying in Thwaite and after reading the rave reviews we decided to pop in here for a light lunch so that we could feel the atmosphere and decide if we wanted to stay here another year. They were obviously quite surprised to see us but offered us drinks is the bar although it was deserted. We then had a choice of sandwiches or soup of the day of which there was only one serving - perfectly ok white onion veloute. I had a ham and mustard sandwich which was Exactly what it was! 2 meanish slices of ham slapped inside bread with a smear of mustard. No salad, no crusts taken off, no care. Served with some crisps. All incredibly disappointing and of course a ridiculous bill. I agree with the review that says style over substance. Sorry!

I wanted to say what an amazing time we had at yorebridge house for our wedding.First of all the venue is amazing- we fell in love with this place two years ago when we booked our wedding here and it did not disappoint on the day. On arrival myself and a few of the bridal party stayed on the Friday night before the wedding and we were greeted with a complementary glass of prosecco. After that we checked into our rooms and we were not disappointed. We had the barn and the kariega room and both rooms were beautiful- comfy beds with hot tubs. The food was also divine. On the wedding day everything went perfect. A special mention to Sophie who did everything to ensure it was perfect from setting up the tables to organising seats outside for the speeches. Dave the owner was lovely and also Tori who helped us on the build up to the wedding ! The staff are amazing. All our guest really enjoyed the day there was not one complaint ! The food on the day was beautiful and all the guests who stayed loved the rooms.I cannot wait to come back for our anniversary but if anyone wants to visit yorebridge house please do not hesitate ! It's the most romantic hotel and worth the pennies.

Visited Yorebridge House for a friend's wedding. The setting was great with its own grounds and chairs and tables outside. Food served as part of the wedding breakfast was excellent, especially given the catering for 60-70 people. Some hot bread rolls and tasty butter, a cheese tart for starter, perfectly cooked sirloin beef with roast potatoes, potato purée, Yorkshire pudding and a rich jus to bring the dish together for main. Dessert was a soft brownie with vanilla ice cream, a real crowd pleaser. Further food of burger and chips / bacon sandwiches was served later in the evening which was also very tasty. The bar prices were pretty steep: £14 for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and a pint of Black Sheep beer. The bar could have done with an extra staff member was queues were long for most of the night. There was a dearth of staff to ask later in the evening when we left about getting a taxi back to our hotel so we walked back to central Bainbridge (it's not far but there's no pavement). The venue was initially very hot as they had the heating on (it was c.14°C outside) and with all the bodies in the crowded bar but they later opened all the windows and the temperature was much more pleasant. Overall, it was a great venue for a wedding.

Yorebridge House is in a lovely setting just outside Bainbridge. Upon arrival we discovered it was a fixed 3 course menu for £60 per head. Luckily we liked enough of what was on offer, plus it was an anniversary meal so we were prepared to pay a bit more. Before & during the meal you are given various tasters & Amuse bouche which are great at clearing the palette. The main courses were all excellent with some beautiful combinations, ingredients, sauces etc but be aware - these dishes are not plate-fillers, more nouvelle cuisine. I think this would be perfect if you were celebrating a special occasion, but if you are after belt-stretching hearty fare at pub prices then I would look elsewhere.

Booked to celebrate a birthday and wasn't disappointed. The setting, decor and ambience was excellent - classy, relaxed and understated. The food, really very good! On the brink of Michelin starred.I must have missed the price of the set menu when I booked us in because there were no prices on the menu - which is a little disconcerting... (although, strangely, the price of additional desserts is indicated). It's £60pp by the way. Finally, while I would probably agree the prices are about right for the standard of food and service, drinks are expensive. It's very good. Do go.

We booked dinner for our wedding anniversary. The first time we've visited but we'll definitely return.Food was delicious, wide range of drinks, service impeccable, surroundings beautiful. Our only criticisms would be the cost of the vegetarian set menu (even the Michelin starred restaurants we've eaten at offer a discounted price for the vegetarian option) and, my husbands main (lamb) was on the edge of being too cold.

We stayed for one night in the Karegie room, which is based on an African theme but done very tastefully. There is a private garden with hot tub which overlooks the river. The room was well equipped and comfortable. The homemade sweets and cookies were a lovely touch. The bar and dining room are in the main house a short walk away. The food is both imaginative and bursting with flavours. Worth every penny and highly recommended. The only disappointment was the turn down service. It was literally turning down the sheet and closing the curtains.

Very Michelin star rated and the staff were very friendly. Obviously more expensive than your normal restaurant meal however so worth the money. I can't fault the meal at all. We also had canapés to start and an amuse bouchée. Recommend anyone to try this place. Lovely.

We booked a table at Yorebridge House as a late valentines treat during our stay in the Dales. It was an exceptional treat from start to finish. Upon arrival we were offered drinks and given the menu to peruse. Every option sounded spectacular and after much deliberation we decided upon our starter and main courses. We were brought a selection of canapés, my favourite being the beetroot meringue. We had made the restaurant aware upon booking that I required gluten free food and this was catered for without fuss or issue. It was only when we were seated that I realised just how the chef had gone above and beyond - I was offered warm baked gluten free bread which was better than any bread I have eaten in the 5 years that I have been gluten free. Completely disregarding etiquette I spread the salted butter over each piece and ate most of it before my starter arrived. The starter was sublime; the flavours of pear, chocolate and venison combined to provide an indescribable sensation and I was in food ecstasy. But that was just the beginning! I was brought more bread and giggled in delight at each mouthful of food. My main of beef was equally delicious and having a choice of proper desserts is a dream for any coeliac. I could barely eat for the enormous grin on my face and I enjoyed every single mouthful. Do not miss out on this spectacular dining experience. The food is perfection, the staff were attentive and professional whilst also being genuinely warm and welcoming.

Wow what a fabulous place. I wished that we had booked a room. However, the meal that I had booked for my partner’s birthday was fantastic. We were offered 3 types of canapés whilst we were waiting for our table. We were told that our meal had been delayed as there were still guests at our table. This did not matter as we had all the time in the world. We had ordered a bottle of wine which they topped up for free, as a gesture as they felt we were kept waiting in the lounge area. The atmosphere felt good, and the staff were very polite and attentive. The younger ones were just as courteous as the older ones, and must have been well trained. We had a laugh as I felt my chair vibrating. I was curious about this. We guessed it must have been coming from cooling in the wine cellars below. What an amazing meal. We had the set evening menu. Delicious starters, with amuse bouche between courses, savoury and sweet. A variety of homemade rolls was another touch. My partner enjoyed his cheese and biscuits to finish the meal. All the food was wonderfully presented and tasted exquisite. I could not fault anything.I would definitely recommend this place and look forward to coming back again.

We had Sunday lunch here. Lovely smallish boutique hotel. We had drinks in a lounge with open fire while making out menu suggestions. We were then taken to our table in the restaurant which is light and breezy having an atrium. From the restaurant you can see the kitchen and the chefs working on the food. Our three course lunch was fantastic. The starters were a work of art presentation wise and very tasty. My only observation here is that my venison had very small amounts of venison, very thin slices to the point where the meat loses flavour as it has been sliced so thinly. No complaints on the main roast beef which was cut generously thick and cooked to perfection, slightly pink. The deserts were superb and presentation wise, beautiful. After lunch we returned to the lounge for coffee and newspapers. The bill including service was reasonable for the quality of the food and surroundings. The staff were very pleasant, effective, efficient and friendly without being over familiar. We will definitely return to Yorebridge House, which surely must be the areas best restaurant without question.

Booked through Mr and Mrs Smith (which comes complete with a glass each of Laurent Perrier on arrival). A good start to our overnight break.Stayed in the rangali (maldives) room. We arrived on an extremely wintry day to a lovely warm room. Beautifully decorated. The husband had yet again excelled himself and had booked a wonderful in-room massage with mobile masseuse sharon which was wonderful and relaxing. Dinner was worthy of it’s 3 rosette accolade. Service was attentive and we were so pleased that Henry had been promoted to Restaurant Manager. He is so attentive to guests and extremely personable.Breakfast was very nice. Plenty of choice. This is our fourth stay at Yorebridge House and cannot fault the food or service or indeed the themed rooms. We will be definitely returning for a fifth visit in the New Year.

The pub was warm and welcoming with a small but varied menu. I chose the vegetable hot pot (which was so delicious that the chef kindly gave me their recipe). It was great to see that all the seasonal vegetable side dishes were fresh. The sausages on the menu were fat and juicy, the fish and chips were crisp and plentiful.
