Stayed here with friends over several nights.the property needs urgent refurbishment and staff retraining. Receptionist and night porter together with the waiter in the Fat Abbot all haveappalling attitudes and create a very poor impression .All were extremely unhelpful and appeared to dislike their jobs which reflects in their service

I knew the tea room was vegan and was happy to go with that but £26.80 for two vegan sausage sandwiches and coffee for two was a bit beyond a joke. The sausage were rather bland and tasteless but made tolerable by the fact they were absolutely lathered in onion relish. I’ll not rush back.

Another excellent experience at The Waterfront. Attended the first night of their new evening menu, was not disappointed. The conservatory looked magical with candles twinkling on the tables, together with a beautiful floral display. As always the service is excellent and friendly. The food not only looked good, beautiful presentation, it tasted great. The duck with the spiced plum and macadamia crumble was divine. Would highly recommend an evening out at the Waterfront. Thank you for a lovely evening. Anne

Visited the Wheldrake village cafe with a friend who was new to the area as I had had some lovely lunches in the past. So disappointed. All that was available were ready made paninis which had been made 2 days earlier so we shared one of those as they are quite large. Definitely on the stale side, dry and unpleasant eating. Was offered a freshly made pesto and cheese panini which was OK. Can only think all the effort goes into the Designer Outlet branch. Doubt I'll be going back.

Lovely country pub. Friendly staff. Had Sunday lunch. Very disappointed. Chicken, broccoli, carrot and swede, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding straight out of freezer and microwaved. A dollop of smash. Gravy was tasteless. Minimum effort maximum profit.

A really nice surprise to find this fish and chip shop in a layby off the a19 near Escrick on the way home from work. Very nice welcoming couple. Chatted to everyone. They take your order on arrival. Sausage and chips for me. Excellent. I will be definitely coming back when I am in the area again next month. Ample parking. Disabled access and toilets.

I took my friend here for her birthday 19th December afternoon tea and must admit a bit disappointed although the sandwiches and cakes were as shown there were no fish and chips they also wanted to add a considerate service charge without asking I did manage to get it removed topping is a personal choice although not totally disappointed I would have to think about returning sorry you did not impress me
