Went here mid week whilst visiting family. What a huge disappointment!!! X4 meals and all were worse than terrible. Creamy Cajun chicken - definitely wasn’t creamy, was like having chicken soup with floating rice and didn’t come with pitta bread as discribed. Came with hard as nails garlic pizza bread. Lasagne was runny with plastic sloppy cheese on top again with rock hard cheap garlic pizza bread. Which can be bought from a local supermarket. Fish and chips- can you get wrong? Well turns out you can. Terrible chips mushy and full of eyes. Scampi well it was dry and overcooked and for all of the above we had the pleasure of paying what’s is wrong with us. The one good thing was the hospitality. It was great. None of the posted pictures match anything that was served to us. Sadly. 😢

We have eaten here on quite a few occasions with no problems. The landlady is very welcoming and friendly. However we had a meal at the weekend which was terrible. The chicken & mushroom pie had no thickening in it & was just like water and contained very little meat. The Hunters chicken was covered in tomato sauce with very little bbq sauce and there was no bacon on it. My chips had lots of black on them that should have been cut off and the worst ones were hidden underneath the better ones. I don’t think we will eat here again.

Ok, so just visited local pub whilst away on holiday. Booked for the carvery on Sunday for the two of us and partner to choose what he wanted. Erm not actually. When arrived was told it was carvery only as partner does not like them and was looking forward to choosing another selection off the menu. I’m afraid this was not to happen. When we arrived was told carvery only. Huge disappointment for other half as he had to sit there watching us eat. Saved ourselves all day for it as well. You need to change your website page to say that on Sundays it is carvery only and no other food is served. Also it would be a good idea to tell people as well at the time of making the reservation as we booked the sitting two days before when we visited the pub. Had we known this then we would not have booked it as not everybody wants a carvery. The food was good and was very very busy with no spare tables but with a two gap between services I.e. 12pm, 2pm and 4pm as it got to within 30 minutes before the next sitting we was made to feel a little uncomfortable as you could see staff looking at you to make way for the next sitting. Again, a simple memo to say that please note that in order to accommodate the next diners we politely ask you vacate your table 15 minutes before the hour to give us time to ready the tables for the next sitting. Simple notes and communication would help. The website is very poor and all the menus are unreadable: needs addressing. There was also a few flies around which can be expected but not happy when they go on the food in the platters.

We visited this pub on Thursday 17th August 2023 and initially enjoyed a lovely pint in the rear beer garden which was well laid out and comfortable. The welcome from the lady behind the bar was ver friendly and we were made to feel at ease. For those reasons alone I give it the two stars. However the food was to say the least disgusting. My wife ordered Creamy Cajun Chicken which was supposed to be accompanied by pitta bread and rice but was instead served with a slice of toast on top. The rice was hardly visible due to the extremely thin and runny cream sauce which it was swimming in. The grains of rice were literally floating on the top!! As a lover of pizzas I saw that they had a good selection on the menu from which I’d chosen the “Chilli Beef, Brie & Jalapeños” topping as it sounded a bit different. I was expecting either mince or chunks of beef in a chilli sauce on top accompanied by either Brie alone or a mixture of Brie and mozzarella. What arrived looked disgusting and tasted as good as it looked. The clearly bought in pizza base (the giveaway machined holes and biscuit flavour giving it away) was covered in congealed cheddar cheese and sprinkled with what I can only assume was slivers of dry rubbery sliced roast beef probably left over from the previous Sunday’s carvery!! There was a tiny amount of tasteless white blobs which I assume was Brie but who knows amongst the sea of bright orange cheddar and the heat I presumed was from the hidden Jalapeños which must have been completely submerged in the cheddar. My wife finished her chicken but left the ocean of liquid rice. I had two small slices of pizza and left 3/4 of it. We made our way to the bar where we asked to pay for our meal and explained how poor it was and the reasons that I’d left most of it. I thought at this point we’d be offered some money off but apart from a whispered “sorry about that” he continued to take the full price. So sad that after such a nice start the day was spoiled by such a terrible excuse for a meal. Go for a drink if you wish but don’t touch the food with a barge pole!

We decided to visit again, this time the pub was very busy and yet again the staff were kind and made us feel very welcome. We came here last year when the weather was good and we were able to sit outside and enjoyed it, so decided to return this year. I am not sure we will bother again. The car park is very small and difficult to manoeuvre around. They could improve this by setting out clearly marked bays that people have to park between. The actual pub is nice and unlike other reviews, I think the staff were friendly and helpful. However, it is a bit strange that the kitchen closes so early (7.30pm). It isn't unusual to order at the bar and pay in advance, so I don't think that's a bad sign. I had a veggie chilli which was more of a mush but it tasted ok and I ate it. The accompanying salad was actually fresh and nice. My husband had fish and chips but said it wasn't as good as our local chippy. However, we both ate it all. I did notice that the people next to us said that their cheesy chips were awful and were offered a refund. I wonder if they had a different chef last year. The problem wasn't so much the food as some of the clientele who felt it necessary to talk about euros at the tops of their voices and with as many f words as they could squeeze in between the references to "euros" (not the coins and not the football championships - we were at a bit of a loss to understand the conversation we had no choice but to eavesdrop on). I realise that they probably spend a lot at the pub but there's no need for so much swearing and the bar staff should have told them to pipe down.

Just drinks. Proper local pub not trying to be anything else. It's not busy or at least there were a few other people in. Didn't try the food but the beer was kept well, clean glasses and staff gave friendly service.

Extremely disappointed. Waited 2 hours for food only for our order to be cancelled at the last minute. Ruined our annual staff Christmas party. When staff we challenged as to why this was we were throw out and told not to come back. We as a group had already spent nearly £400 at the bar and was about to spend a lot more. The staff we rude and aggressive. When the landlord arrived to try and sort the situation they lied to him about what had gone off. The bar and kitchen staff clearly weren't coping and taking the news of a staff shortage for the next day out on us. We were all regulars but won't be going back.

It’s with a heavy heart having to write a negative review as we really loved this place however, 3 months on from our wedding and we’re still so sad about the way we were treated. Not the way you should reflect and feel about your wedding day. Ellie really was fantastic in arranging the night. She was enthusiastic, helpful and responsive. We didn’t want a big fuss for the night and we felt relaxed and prepared for the evening ahead. We had quite a small budget and Ellie really helped and went out of her way to keep costs low. Or that was the plan anyway. We were reassured that with the number of guests we would easily meet the bar spend. The evening celebration at Impossible was going so well, until it was time to leave. Towards the end of the night we were reminded several times by management about minimum bar spend and how much was left, not something you want when you’re trying to enjoy your wedding night but we continued to enjoy ourselves with all our guests. The problem was when we all left, or tried to leave. They wouldn’t allow us to go without paying the rest of the bar minimum spend, a remainder of £1300. This wasn’t explained to us at any point when organising the party and in the contract we were given it states that: “An invoice will be issued following the event date for the shortfall between actual bar spend and minimum bar spend”. Having to make a payment like that at the end of your wedding night just isn’t acceptable and was hugely embarrassing with our guests around as they were aware of the situation. Thankfully with an intervention from some of our guests we were finally allowed to leave and allowed to return the next day to settle the bill. We paid everything requested despite being very upset with how we were treated, having felt ambushed and held hostage the night before. We’ve since been told that this type of contract is for regular guests and corporate bookings - why were we sent it then? At no point were we told that we needed to settle the bill on the night, though I’m told we were. If we were we would’ve sorted this. There’s certainly no record of this vital piece of information for us or Impossible to refer to. At no point have any management apologised for the way we were treated and they give the impression that we should be grateful for 20% refund. The comment that “had this not have happened on the night you’d have had to pay the full amount” really isn’t the point. There’s no consideration or acknowledgement of how we were made to feel and treated. When we asked how they would feel if they were treated this way on their wedding night, we were told “well I’d have just paid a hire fee, or arranged for someone else to sort it so that it wouldn’t be an issue”. None of these were an option or consideration for us with what we had planned. All we were told is that the evening managers were just doing their job and what they thought was best. We’ve had no apologies, just excuses for their behaviour. The only person that had shown any form of empathy and apologised for how we were made to feel was Ellie. During the “investigation” of our complaint, management on the night accused us of “verbally abusing” staff and we have been told that they are extremely upset with our complaint against them. Unfortunately, their cruel, out of order and awkward actions ruined the end of our wedding, something that we won’t get back. That has caused us more upset. We have no recollection of this “verbal abuse” however, if we did say what was alleged then there really isn’t a better description of their behaviour. The venue is amazing. That can’t be denied, our guests loved the night and said the food was delicious, the way the venue was decorated was beautiful and we are very grateful for everything that was done. Thankfully most guests didn’t experience the bitter end. The way Impossible/ Tokyo industries treat their customers and deal with complaints is terrible. They’re all about profit over their image, reputation, customer wellbeing, experience and satisfaction.
