The Cock and Bottle is a great little pub just out of the centre of York. It is a very cosy and compact pub. The barman was very friendly and service was reasonably quick. They had a few real ales on draught which were all very tasty and good value for money. A nice pub to visit if you are on Skeldergate.

We stood at the bar for roughly 10 minutes without being served. The pub was very empty with just a handful of people, so being left this long without being served is unacceptable. When you want to breath and have a break from the bustle in the city centre, this is the place. It was also welcome to keep an eye on the cricket and F1 at the same time. None of the pubs in the centre had such an array of sport to watch. Just because you are a tourist, doesn’t mean you don’t want to feel like a local and tune into the commentary in the pub, as opposed to on the tele.

On a freezing cold night my twin brother Stephen and I decided to drop into The Cock & Bottle Pub ,a pub we always look forward to visiting on any trip to York we take. I love the look of this pub ,it's interior is superb exposed brickwork ,a cool looking serving bar, pubby decor and furnishings,tv's and big screens to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, befitting an historic pub of this nature there are quite a few resident ghosts including possibly George Villiers ,2nd Duke Of Buckingham,it's just a great pub to unwind in. We were greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of the bar team,we had a study of their real ale's and we both opted to have Rudgate Brewery pale ale, these were served in excellent condition,we just kicked back and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub. My pale ale was so good,a crisp, well balanced ale, hints of caramel with essence of citrus giving a slight bitter finish to it which we both enjoy,it was just so good being in such a great pub enjoying a quality real ale. We really enjoyed our pale ale's in The Cock & Bottle Pub before we moved on and as on every other visit to here we had a great time. The Cock & Bottle Pub is easy to locate along Skeldergate . Opening hours are; Monday to Thursday,4pm till 11pm. Friday to Sunday, midday till 11pm. A great pub ,well worth a visit if you're in the area.

The Cock&Bottle on Skeldergate is a really good pub along the river Ouse and a good pub to watch live sport. A large single-roomed pub with nice decor and furnishing's and throughout the whole interior superb seating options and lots of TV screens. There is a little bit more to this superb pub as is its renowned as a really haunted pub and one of the resident ghosts may be the 2nd Duke of Buckingham'George Villiers.A superb pub and one we have visited lots of times over the years. We where on our way to the Wetherspoons pub by our hotel and went in here for a few beers. It was rather busy when we went into here as they were showing a football game and there was a great atmosphere. When here we had a Rudgate brewery ale each which were fantastic and well priced especially for this part of York. This is a very good pub and well worth visiting and really easy to find from Micklegate bus stop its a short walk. (This is my first review of the Cock&Bottle). Opening Hours. Monday-Thursday-16.00-23.00. Friday-15.00-23.30. Saturday-Sunday-12.00-23.00. Nearest Bus Stop. Micklegate bus stop.

The Charles has never done me wrong. Between going to uni and living nearby I haven’t had a bad night, nor bad beer in the Charles. The only thing I did wish is that they had a few more ales on offer but the ones I’ve had have always been good, sports is on, double bonus, and the food is great, triple bonus. I know it’s a bit far removed from the centre but if you’re this end of town I whole-heartedly recommend you check into the Charles. The staff are spectacular too and will go to lengths to make your experience worthwhile, Mikey’s a good lad just as everyone else is, can’t go wrong really.
