Terrible hygiene, poor service , they can’t even sit you down in a empty seat, what Italian doesn’t do balsamic glaze or vinegar!!! Very dirty and poor menu

As someone who is neurodivergent the music was far two loud. Even my mum who isn't neurodivergent agreed so I spent the whole time with my noise cancelling headphones on. There was a lot of waiting around the staff seemed to be talking a lot to each other and re doing tables that had just been cleaned. It felt a bit disorganised. We were there to celebrate my mother's birthday and it felt as though we couldn't really enjoy ourselves due to my sensory needs being so heightened. It's supposed to be waitress service but they didn't seem to acknowledge when people had finished ordering and finished there meals. Ultimately I don't think we'll be returning. The front doors are really heavy to push and so if you struggle with your co-ordination skills it can be really challenging. It does have a push button but they don't always work and the unpredictability of this does come across as a concern. We didn't even get given our free bottle of cava as the email stated we would do if we booked online. They just seemed a bit clueless and disorganised. I've been twice in the last 6 months now and I don't plan on going back until they get things sorted because it is a bit of a let down to people like myself. I won't be recommending it to my friends.

Went earlier in the week it was bang average and rather expensive. Food was alright, no beer on draught and only silly expensive beer in bottles. I'd not bother going again.

(Visited September 2024) After a previous meal, I won 40% off the next visit and so came here for tea with a friend. The Saltimbocca Chicken Sage (chicken, prosciutto and sage, potato and cabbage) was a fairly hearty meal- about as good as a chain gets, really. -- (Visited May 2024) My friend and I came for tea here as- to our surprise- Tastecard can be used on a Bank Holiday! I ordered the Pea & Goat’s Cheese Ravioli: a slightly tarte and creamy pasta dish- very enjoyable. Service was pleasant. -- (Visited Jun 2019) My family and I came here on Father’s Day: it was one of the only places that accepted tastecard. Our previous visit to a Prezzo was a bit of a let-down, but this time around we were all far more impressed! I ordered the roasted salmon fillet: this already comes with vegetables, but you also get to choose a side. I wasn’t quite sure what to go for, but I’d recommend paying the extra 25p for the fries infused with truffle oil and shavings of cheese. Although chips and veg is a bit of an odd combo, they were lush! For dessert, I went for the Salted Caramel Chocolate tart. I enjoyed it, but a bit more caramel sauce wouldn’t have gone amiss. My dad and brother got the Chocolate Brownie Dome which was an interesting and tasty-looking pudding. My Mam would have got the Honeycomb Smash Cheesecake, but there was none left. Service was prompt and friendly. We were very pleased, especially at the value for money!

Excellent service by 3 different staff! We were very impressed and pleased with the service here. We were first welcomed warmly and enthusiastically by a male staff who told us to wait as he was busy and later apologised before showing us to our table. Next, a very cheerful lady took our order and another kind lady served the food. Each one had a bright smile and made us feel welcome! The pizza was not too bad, although the dough became hard when it cooled down, the flavours were still great. I enjoyed the chilli oil. We felt that the gnocchi was too mushy for our liking and when we gave feedback, the staff kindly offered several options to resolve the issue and we eventually decided to refund the order. Throughout the process, the kind staff remained professional and did not seem upset with us. It was a very pleasant dining experience for us as Asians in UK.

Perfect welcome, service & food. What a team! We have eaten here on several occasions. It is consistently fantastic. The staff work so hard & deliver a relaxed, professional experience. Tables are cleared promptly. Lovely to hear people of all ages chatting & having fun. Super coffee . It is a challenge to choose which dish to select as they are all delicious & generously portioned. The balance of flavours is perfect. Such great value for money. We will be there again soon.

The food was decent, not completely to my taste but it was all done well. However the service was incredibly disappointing. Both my wife and I felt very unwelcome, like we were in the way or a burden to staff by being there. Before leaving, we paid and left a tip and for the third time during our trip we were met with staff looking at us, whispering to each other and rolling their eyes. I understand the stress and pressure of the industry and feeling fed up with customers, however it was relatively quiet and aside from ordering, we hadn’t asked staff for anything else or any help during our visit. If you want to be rude about your customers, at least have the decency to wait until they leave or learn some subtlety. Overall, this trip left a very sour taste.

I would not recommend eating here, service is poor. I went in for breakfast, was told to sit anywhere as it was empty. The menu offers a good range of food. The food here is lovely, however the staff that work here are rather unpleasant and rude. Throughout eating we noticed we were getting glared at from the staff behind the counter. We noticed that they were whispering about us and rolling their eyes at us. Very little politeness, after I had eaten I went up to counter to pay, I left a tip despite the service as I was trying to be polite, but I did not enjoying feeling as if I should not have come in.

Called in today and the coffee and food were second to none I would recommend this establishment to anyone. I will certainly call again.

I visited last Sunday and had such a lovely experience! Malwina was a fantastic, amazing server and our order arrived so quickly and was delicious. Would recommend to any local, tourist or student looking for an affordable, tasty pizza experience 🍕

I stood in the front for 5 minutes while staff walked around me- but I wanted to follow the “wait to be seated” sign. When someone did come, they said I could sit wherever I wanted, and someone would be with me soon. I waited for 30 minutes at the table and watched the staff avoid making eye contact with me. They flipped the closed sign an hour before their posted closing time, and I waited 5 more minutes (all the other tables were still full- the one next to me having never been served either) before leaving without a word.

Great food, staff very welcoming, quickly served and very well priced

From when we entered to leaving it was a lovely experience eating here. Our server Emily P was friendly, professional and made the experience really nice. The food was amazing and would return if we went back to York

This was a brilliant place to eat. The deal for kids was really good! The food was lovely a d service was excellent!

The place is very beautiful, I entered without a reservation at a difficult time since it was very late for lunch but very early for dinner (it was 3 in the afternoon) and the kitchen was open, which I really appreciated since it was very cold and I was hungry. The service could have been better, perhaps suggesting a dish from the menu or a pairing. The food (pasta with salmon sauce) wasn't bad but I didn't fall in love with it either, normal. I thought the drinks menu was good. The price, according to the area.

Great traditional Italian in centre of town

The food was over priced and mediocre. The bruschetta was an oily bread with tomato’s that have been cut into 4 instead of chopped and soaked in oil. Looked awful tasted awful and not how I have had bruschetta before . Would not go there again.

Delicious veggie breakfast! Quality sourdough toast, Herby mushrooms and delicious roasted whole plum tomatoes. Lovely decor and friendly staff as well. My husband had the pancakes which looked incredible.

Very poor service bordering on rude. This was shame as food lovely. The staff did not want to be there it appeared. Took 3 requests to order food which arrived an hour later. Table next to us left as waited so long.

Decent Restaurant in a Central Position. A little pricey for the Food we ordered.

Front of house staff were 5 star & very apologetic with the poor standard of food. Chef was 1 star & rubbish with our gluten free options. Burnt the starters & didn't even manage a decent pasta dish for main course.

We had a lovely brunch, mine was veggie, with half decent decaf coffee. The food was lovely, the staff very welcoming and friendly. The food doesn’t come quickly, but it was well worth the wait, and freshly cooked. Would go again when in York (in fact we went there twice).

Came with my partner. We ordered a bottle of wine and two pizzas. The bottle of wine came right away, however, the pizzas arrived an hr later. Despite the place being virtually empty and having to leave my table twice to look for a waiter to ask where they were, they still couldn't get it right 🤯 Overall, a hugely disappointing experience, with not even an apology.

Enjoyed pizza, salad and olives on Saturday 15th June. Was not too busy and food was very tasty. We were looked after by the waitress who even asked if we had any vouchers and told us how to find vouchers for money off our bill. Thank you for a good time.

Had as a delivery to our hotel as it was really near. Didn’t give size of pizza, usually massive so just ordered one and fries. It was tiny, barely enough for one! Hardly any topping. What a complete rip off, saw us coming!

Best pizza I’ve ever had , goats cheese

Waiting 15 minutes and didn’t get served. Went to the counter and was just ignored by the waitress . I wouldn’t have minded but there were only three tables and all three were already eating .

We went on a tranquil night at the end of April 2024. Since it was late in the evening, there were only few customers at the restaurant. Food were good but not outstanding, the service was good. The atmosphere was unremarkable.

Disappointed - avoid!!! We have been at Prezzo in London and we thought that in York we would have the same experience, unfortunately we didn’t. The pizza was ok, however, we ordered a Tiramisu that we just couldn’t eat! The cream was tasting so bad, sour and at the first bite we noticed that it was spoiled. I paid for it because the waitress was so nice, but we will never come back.

Fantastic food and service, the chicken alfredo rigatoni I opted for was absolutely delicious, the rigatoni carbonara and chicken burger are also recommended by my fellow diners. Would definitely come here again

Really lovely staff. Popped in for some food while away on a work trip. They were a bit understaffed but really lovely and did their best. Great meal

Used to absolutely love it here, but they have done a refurb and sucked all the character out of the place - it's now just another overpriced italian chain restaurant which is such a shame. Won't be coming back.

Felt a little sorry for the (young) staff, as there clearly wasn't enough of them and could really do with a experienced manager walking the floor

The food was mediocre, but the service was abysmal. Our requests were not accommodated, and the wait time for our food was excessive.

Get the easy bit out the way. The food isn’t too bad, not amazing . The service is beyond appalling. Items missed, 45 minutes for garlic bread to appear, missed items never show up even when queried, missed items appear on bill and waitress appeared to have just landed from another planet. Not a clue. York has many many restaurants and this is definitely in the bottom 5%. AVOID.

We booked a table here for dinner at 6pm before a 7.30pm show at The Grand Opera House. At 7.20 we, and several other tables who had theatre tickets, still hadn't received our food so we all just had to walk out. The waitresses were so sweet and apologetic that I wasn't going to leave a bad review but I got chatting to a friend about it and she told me they had exactly the same experience last year. So I felt duty bound to leave a review warning other people not to book here if you're under time pressure to get to the theatre. It made our evening really stressful. We had my parters children with us. They hadn't eaten anything since school so we had to run to Tesco express for sandwiches and we missed the first ten minutes of the show!

We walked in by chance, without a reservation, it was heavily raining, it was a Saturday evening and of course all the tables were booked. But I sincerely asked to find us any place, as we had come from Oxfordshire and we did not know the area at all. To my surprise, Matt - a great waiter - offered us a table. It was a very good quality of food: we ordered pizzas, pastas, salad and deserts.All food was delicious. The staff was lovely, the place was clean and very nice. Unfortunately, I forgot my receipt to review them on their page,but it was on the 17.02.2024 in Prezzo York UK Great restaurant - this is what distinguishes this restaurant from others. One of the greatest services in England. The reception was impeccable. The waiter was helpful and friendly.

The food was slightly above average but the service was pretty bad. We had to flag down a waiter (who was rarely around) any time we needed anything, often after waiting for way too long.

Very nice experience. The food was amazing, I had the truffle gorgonzola beef burger and it was divine, and for desert an affogato. The staff was lovely, the place was clean and very nice. This was a great restaurant for dining, where the staff got me and my friend seated promptly with a menu! The design is modernized and incorporates greenery, seating itself is definitely comfortable also. I enjoyed a Margarita pizza although the cheese to tomato ratio was slightly too high, this was served in decent time as expected.

I booked a table and arrived slightly early but was not an issue. Lovely welcome, choice of seating drinks served and great menu. Liv our waitress was attentive and friendly and made our evening special.

Pizzas very bland & in need of more sauce & toppings if for no other reason than to disguise the gluten free base which aren't great. 2 stars are only for the dessert.

Good decor, Nice atmosphere, but I was so cold. Just before I left I discovered why, the window above to door was wide open. The food was delicious, as was the coffee, the tea was appalling. Try twinings! The service was slow -we even got up to get our food as we could see it, but no one was bringing it to us. The staff weren’t unfriendly exactly, but they could be friendlier, no smiles, little eye contact. Great idea poorly executed.

Booked a table for 4 last Saturday night and the restaurant was half empty. For starters we asked the garlic bread and was ok. My partner asked for the salmon, tomato and basil rigatoni which was nothing special. The salmon came shredded and was almost no pesto on it. He ended up to just eating the pasta itself. My other two friends had carbonara, bolognese and I had spaghetti with king prawns. Once again, average good that I could easily make in home.. Apart from that, the waiter service was excellent.

Disgusting, no seats available unless you book. Don't leave any spare for walk in customers. The place was half empty!!! This was only about 5pm.

What a lovely place! My son and I came for a light brunch as part of his birthday day out, on the recommendation of one of his work colleagues. Really lovely, warm atmosphere, DELICIOUS food and delightful staff. India and Rosa were extremely friendly and we sat chatting for quite a while and were not disturbed or made to feel we had outstayed our welcome. They are a credit to your team. We shall DEFINITELY return. We go to York on a regular basis and it will now firmly be on our list of haunts!

Mushroom sauce leaked all over pizza. Pizza was soggy and very cold. Pasta was good.

The food that arrived was cold, main meal was missing. Spoke to the restaurant directly, they apologised but would not redeliver. I have to wait to see if Just Eat approve my refund

When we arrived we were told they had 3 new chefs in the kitchen and probably not advisable to order a starter as it would take a long time. When the food came the 3 pizzas were only just warm enough but the burger and chips were cold so were sent back and done again, came back hot, but told it wouldn't be charged for as everyone else had now finished their meals. Surely these chefs had worked in a restaurant before, so we couldn't understand what was going on.

Came here for dinner while visiting York, very friendly staff and quick service. The calzone was delicious!

Lovely food, fast service nice atmosphere

Love this restaurant and the staff are always really friendly. My food was great lovely and hot but unfortunately my friend's was lukewarm she didn't want to cause a fuss but we did let the staff know when they asked. The temperature in the restaurant was cold which spoilt it there was also another diner with a big scarf around her shoulders. Would recommend this restaurant as usually everything is great 👍

Coffee was excellent! Service was really nice as well - shout out specifically to Chloe. Loved the atmosphere and decoration of the location and how quickly I was seated.

The food was lovely, really tasty, we waited ages for it because the cheque was lost and no one let us know, we waited 50mins for our food when other tables around us came and ate.

Previously had several lovely meals at the Drift Inn, with Lovely atmosphere, food & service. Full today, we were directed to Drift. Very poor service, staff totally disinterested, burger raw in the middle, sent back to be 'reheated', meagre portions, cramped tables, dirty hallway to toilets. Table next to us unhappy with cold tuna melt. Very poor, wouldn't recommend.

We were shown upstairs not many customers there downstairs was full so not much atmosphere but still very pleasant the gentleman on staff duties (he had long hair tied up) upstairs was excellent very attentive and knowledgeable the food was excellent no problems a place to visit again when in york 😀 👍

I waited and waited because I was unaware that one had to go to the counter. I finally ordered something and waited and waited. Meanwhile I was given a drink and a bottle of water. I couldn't get the lid off the water. I still did not get the burger and couldn't leave my seat because there was a dog in the way. I had to go somewhere else to get something to eat.

Whilst it isn’t the cheapest place to eat out, we had a great time. Lovely staff and great food. Nothing more to say really. Most meals are around £15 for a main course and £7 for a dessert. We had a tastecard which made it significantly cheaper.

Lunch time visit. Extremely friendly and warm staff. Menu read well. Calamari was wonderful, best in UK for years. King prawn pasta was too hot and lacked prawns. Crab and Lobster ravioli was ok but only a taste of seafood without substance.

Not the staffs fault at all as they were clearly understaffed but service was slow. The girl who served us was running around non stop but she just had too many tables to look after Aside from that food was good

Last minute (emergency) meal due to Spark’s unannounced closure. Couldn’t have been more accommodating for our daughter’s (pre-escape room)10th birthday meal. Thank you team and sorry, I didn’t catch your name, but the dreadlocks rock 😁 Happy kids, food as expected but the service made all the difference. Thank you again.

Dropped by for a spot of breakfast. Food pleasant, if a little overpriced for what you actually got. Seriously quirky atmosphere. Cafe seemed clean enough. Negatives - I suffer with asthma, extraction system in the place needs seriously improving and if you like your clothes smelling like a chip pan then this is the place for you! This place is in dire need of some nice plates to serve their breakfast on.. I dont like eating my food out of pie dishes - seriously weird and cluttered up the table - probably wouldn't return - bit too strange. I prefer a more refined experience

Gorgeous!! It was the perfect breakfast/brunch for us! The coffee was incredible the portions were generous without compromising on quality. We stayed in a large hotel chain down the road and didn't fancy spending £40 on a average breakfast buffet. Headed out to see what we would find and stumbled apon this place. Huevos rancheros for me and avocado on toast for my partner. It was absolutely spot on. Fresh, tasty and very reasonably priced. If we ever visit York again we will definitely be popping back for brekki!!

We went here for lunch today, and when we arrived then the place was empty - not a good sign for a bank holiday Saturday lunch time. To say the restaurant was so quiet it took a long time for our food to come out. The food was OK but had better from other prezzo restaurants. Probably won't be returning any time soon.
