We were served by a lovely young lady called Malwina . Extremely pleasant and nothing too much trouble

Lovely food but we waited an hour before we were told the starter had been forgot so it will all be delivered at the same time as our mains. It was very busy and a lot of people looked frustrated. Great idea but need more chefs and more staff. I would still visit again as it's a great deal and food is good.

Great value (apart from the drinks) and great food and great service...probably why it was so busy, which was the only downside

Terrible service. The restaurant was not busy at all. The female member of staff that greeted us as we walked in was on her phone and said I won’t be a sec and carried on doing whatever she was doing on her phone. Tables were left unclean and the staff was nowhere in sight. Not sure what they were doing as it was dead. Not a great experience at all and will not return to any Prezzo again

Very busy evening with it being 99p main deal buy the service was amazing and food came out in great time. Our waitress Malwina was exceptional.

The staff in York were very welcoming and friendly. They were efficient in taking our order, and the delicious food was served in a timely manner.

Food was lovely as always but the last 3 times visiting here the service is do slow, they always seem understaffed. Staff are lovely but are always on the go and takes a while to get their attention or the bill, parmesan or a further order of drinks or desserts. But can’t fault the food, always hot, tasty and the kids love it.

Went to Prezzo, Clifford Walk, York. It's a very inviting space, ambient colours and comfy chairs. The food was excellent : crab and lobster ravioli and you could taste the fish in a creamy bisque. Similarly, the pea and goats cheese ravioli was tasty and generously portioned. The garlic bread fingers were puffy, light and tasty. The cloudy lemonade was refreshing. However, the music is way too loud and obtrusive. The really poor part is the service. I gave 3 stars as our personal waitress was lovely but overall it was a masterclass in sullen faces, walking around not catching the eye of any customer, chatting at the back while people waited. On entry we were given a table, in a restaurant where only 3 tables had guests, with the sun glaring right in my eyes. I asked if we could move and was rudely told, with a flick of the hand, you can have that one in the corner but that's it. Luckily said person then went off duty. What a shame, service let's you down badly Prezzo.

Such a lovely comfortable clean restaurant, all staff are very friendly, helpful and professional especially Alina she cannot do enough for you and the food is lovely and presented well.

Staff were absolutely brilliant. I have an allergy and the manager was excellent. The food was amazing, too! The 4 for atmosphere is not the fault of the restaurant, but because a customer was rude and dismissive of my disability. Everything else was fantastic.

This place was well decorated and had such a lively atmosphere. Our servers were really nice and our food arrived pretty quick. They have plenty of gluten free options available here and I really enjoyed my GF pizza. I would definitely recommend for an enjoyable and affordable meal.

All round very good experience we came in half an hour early and they seated us almost immediately and we just came off a boat and we were freezing and they sat us under a heater, our food was delicious came in under 15 mins and let us play card games at the table 👍

We were kindly gifted a voucher for a three-course meal. We visited on a Tuesday afternoon, we didn’t catch the waitress’ name, but she was delightful and very competent. The food was delicious and atmosphere very nice too.

We visited the York branch and were impressed by their vegetarian gluten intolerant range of meals. The staff are very welcoming and knowledgeable. The Morello Cherry Cooler mocktail was heavenly!

Libby was our server, she was new but was very good and helpful, would defiantly come again

Megan, who served us, was absolutely outstanding. Despite the restaurant being visibly understaffed. Even when we had to send a meal back, she handled it with warmth and professionalism. What truly stood out was her genuine concern, she noticed one of us hadn’t eaten much (due to sending it back) and proactively offered alternatives to compensate so we wouldn’t go hungry. Her caring and proactive approach is rare to find and made a real difference to our experience.

Yesterday 22nd March, I was sitting at a table in Prezzo; we had booked a table for seven family members. I was very disappointed they couldn't or wouldn't allow us to add an eighth family member to our party. Our party included my 80 y.o. husband and our two adult children - our son, his wife and our two grandsons aged 10 and 8. My daughter made up the seventh and she had called the restaurant, the day before, and asked if we could add another guest. It was her husband (he was unable to join us at the time of booking as he works abroad but came home earlier than expected). Despite pleading with the manager she would not budge. I then rang in the evening but to no avail, my daughter said it was the same person she had spoken to. The reason given was that there were already two large parties booked in. The excuse given was because of the 'pressure on the kitchen', and there was simply no room to add an eight person. A table of eight, apparently, was too much for them to cope with. I suggested we have two tables of four. The manager's response was as they were really busy, we could have one table upstairs and one table downstairs. This was utterly bizarre and a deliberate and stubborn attempt to not to acquiesce to our request. On our arrival we were shown to our table. I could not believe my eyes. There was room for another table at the end of our table. Please see photo, my husband has his back to the camera. The seating is fixed to a wall, and where I was sitting, there was more than enough room for my son-in-law. Plus, there were so many empty tables! These tables were not occupied throughout our two hour stay (3.30 - 5.30)! I took many photos over the two hours, and those tables remained empty. I asked one of the staff members that, if we had walked in with an extra person, would that person have been accommodated, and 'the response was absolutely, 'yes'. I then told the staff member about the suggestion the previous night re 'a table for four upstairs and one downstairs' comment, and he apologised. Shockingly, from my seat, over the two hours, I could see potential customers looking at the menu in the window. When these potential customers entered Prezzo, the lady manager (black jacket, grey trousers) farcically looked on her screen and turned 32 people away!! Yes I counted them all! They were mostly couples, including one young man with a toddler, two ladies with a pram and a toddler (I counted).All these people were turned away by the manager. As we were leaving at 5.30pm and the evening began, a young couple was allowed in, the next couple not, and so on. As evidenced by my photos, the first one shows the end of our table as we were about to leave and all the space available. The table under the window was empty the entire two hours. One of the photos shows my husband's back in the distance and the available space. As an aside, when my daughter and I both rang the previous day to add my son-in-law, the manager's excuse was they already had bookings for 'two large groups' when these these 'large' groups arrived, seven people at 16.45 followed by four people, then as we left at 5.30, another group of 6 arrived. Presumably these were the two large parties the manager had referred to. These two groups did not impact our time there at all as we were leaving. A very mean and petty act in not allowing us to add our son-in-law on a special family occasion. If the manager's response is that it was busy upstairs, then it's a LIE, there was no activity on those stairs for the two hours we were there, our table was alongside the stairs. What a shocking way to run a business. There were five servers downstairs, doing what? Incidentally, we had to wait far too long for our food. Also, I needed to ask a staff member to replenish the toilet tissue in the ladies, and the entire floor was wet! We will never return - our afternoon totally spoilt by this mean act. Some people are just not suited to working in the hospitality industry. Finally, I did have a chat with one of the servers - which I will pass on to head office.

We are regular customers at Prezzo York and visited yesterday. Once again your menu had changed (for the worst) and we were amazed to see that fries no longer served with a burger and a charge of £4 would be applied. We enjoy the sharing charcuterie board and this has reduced in size. The friendly staff bear the brunt of complaints and deal with them in a diplomatic way. We felt aggrieved sufficiently to post this review

We visited a Prezzo Italian restaurant in York and the food was excellent, the service impeccable and the atmosphere was relaxing and enjoyable. We will be going back for sure. Highly recommended. We had Pizza. Chicken and Peppers with a drizzle of honey.

Just ordered a delivery from Prezzo Clifford Street and it really was delicious! Ordered the Carbonara with extra chicken and garlic bread and then the trio of dips (2x hard cheese 1x garlic butter). First of all the amount of Parmesan and garlic butter I was given was a pleasant surprise, with their tubs being large and more than enough for my meal. The Carbonara was loaded with meat and the portion was very large. The garlic bread was an amazing side too. All for a very good price too. Thanks guys!

Fuimos a almorzar hoy, esperamos casi una hora por nuestra comida. Me dijeron que no había bollos de desayuno, pan tan espeso en su lugar, este café no está particularmente limpio, piso sucio pegajoso, la comida estaba bien, pero no se apresuraba a volver, muchos otros lugares para comer en York.

Visited with family, great service and great food

We stayed in York over the weekend and we enjoyed the most delightful and tasty meal. We on tried many of the local restaurants but this was by far the best of them all. The staff couldn’t be more friendly and the food was delicious.

Unwelcoming atmosphere, staff were extremely dismissive from the moment we entered and even though there were plenty of empty tables, understandably after this experience, we were made to wait for staff who seemed more interested in their conversations than in customers.

Took my daughter for a meal last night and queued to sit down despite booking. We then waited ages for a starter which was sad to say the least- a cold bit of garlic bread and some floppy vegetable sticks. We then had to wait an incredibly long time for our mains which were dreadful. I had spaghetti bolognese which was some cold spaghetti with barely a spoonful of lukewarm sauce that I could have made better myself. My daughter had some meatballs , again lukewarm but tasting marginally better than mine. Terrible for over £50. Won’t be back.

Malwina is so lovely and looked after us as soon as we stepped through the door. Pizzas are fantastic and the meat free vegan one was excellent which my son had. I had the chicken and pepper one which had honey on, this made it taste really nice. Highly recommend.

We ordered a pizza to share as an appetizer before the mains. I clearly and specifically asked for "a well done pizza that is crispy". We received an undercooked leathery pizza that was impossible to cut with the dull pizza wheel supplied. My main course, a featured pasta special for 17 quid, had barely enough chicken in it to make one child's meal chicken finger. The pasta was cooked properly. It was necessary to ask two different servers to get refills on our water. Unimpressed and I won't return.

Had quite a sad looking pizza there this afternoon, apparently it was a meat lovers although evidence of the meat was hard to find. I don't think I would go back.

For food, we had a sharing platter, beef shin ravioli, chicken Milanese, followed by Tiramisu (very nice). Both the food and table service were good. However, the restaurant had no Prosecco despite (or because of) there being a prosecco offer currently?

The food was lovely and lots of choice. Also plenty of veggie options! The price is very reasonable and the deals make it a bargain! The drinks are gorgeous too. Our server (Sophie) was very attentive and friendly! Would definitely come back.

Love the ombulance. And marvellous location. I ordered a pepperoni pizza with extra olives and chilli. I would like to say the olives and chilli were very sparse for the price for extras. The pizza was cooked just about right. However the pepperoni was very thin and pretty tasteless. My other half ordered spaghetti Bolognese. This was lacking in taste. Cheap mince Used, I would have thought they would have offered parmesan cheese to go on top, but they didn't. Plus, at the bottom of the bowl, there was 1/2 an inch of water, so it hasn't been drained properly. The reason why I've marked down on atmosphere. Was because it was terribly drafty and very chilly. And when it's snowing outside and freezing cold. They should have put the heating up a little. The service was very good and very welcoming .pity the food wasn't as good.

Fui a almorzar el sábado. Habíamos estado hace un par de años y estaba bien, así que no tenía razón para no volver. Las mesas estaban muy juntas, por lo que se podía escuchar la conversación de ambos lados y había un olor a cocina muy fuerte. Camarera tomó nuestro pedido. No tenía mucha hambre así que pedí un "bollo" de salchicha como lo llamaban y un zumo de naranja recién exprimido. El bollo estaba muy rancio y literalmente no podía comerlo sin que todo el bollo se viniera abajo. Traté de comérmelo con un cuchillo y un tenedor, pero estaba demasiado seco, así que lo dejé. El jugo de naranja no parecía estar recién exprimido debido a la falta de pulpa. No hubo respuesta a la llamada y esperamos tanto tiempo a que alguien se acercara a nosotros que mi marido se levantó y fue al mostrador. Dijo lo rancio que estaba el pan que le dijeran que es pan de papa hecho y entregado diariamente y no podía estar rancio. El bollo de mi marido no se parecía en nada al mío. Pagamos y nos fuimos. ¡Le daría una amplia litera! Sobreprecio y no vale la pena.

Pleasant meal for two of us pre-theatre. Served by three different staff and service slow. My pasta was acceptable (just), but partners lasagne, not great. Nice venue directly opposite Opera House and parking close by. Overall, it's just about ok, not great. There are better independent restaurants nearby, but in a rush, it's acceptable.

We had a lovely meal here earlier this evening. The whole experience was lovely. We were greeted by a friendly young man, who couldn't seat us at the time but offered us a table 30 mins later so we went, had a drink, and came back. We had a lovely meal from the set menu, a fabulous 3 courses, all delicious and well worth the price. We were served by a lovely young lady, Liv. She took out order and served us the whole time we were there, she even didn't mind taking a photo of us when I asked. She was definitely kept busy but was always attentive, kind, helpful, pleasant and smiley! She is an absolute asset to the team and anyone would be very lucky to have her. Although the food and atmosphere was lovely, Liv made our night. The only downside to this restaurant is the toilets, very VERY cold and could do with a renovation. Although, not too fussed as I didn't spend much time downstairs. Thank you for a lovely evening, all the staff front of house and in kitchen. All very lovely, hardworking people. Prezzo, you have a good team at the moment, look after them and hold onto them! And thanks again, Liv.

They DONT accept cash. Another company that doesn't accept pound notes ( a legal british payment method ) There was NO mention of this when we sat down to eat. When they presented the bill I handed them £105 cash and they refused the payment. Luckily my wife had a debit card on her. Due to their anti-cash policy I will NEVER dine there again.

I've ordered twice from this place and every time they've sent me someone else's order which has resulted in me wasting money and time! Why can't you double check the order before giving it to the driver!!!

Fuimos aquí esta mañana para el desayuno entró y había otras tres personas allí. La jovencita nos señaló una mesa. ¡Después de eso fue cuesta abajo! Una pareja con dos niños pequeños entró y se sentó a nuestro lado. Hemos estado allí durante 5 minutos sin que nadie nos ofrezca una bebida o tomar nuestro pedido de comida. ¡La chica se acercó y se fue a la mesa que entró tras nosotros y tomó su orden! Entonces dos adultos y tres niños entraron se sentó ella tomó su orden y les sirvió sus bebidas y todavía estábamos esperando que nuestra orden fuera tomada! Eventualmente una chica diferente vino y tomó la orden 15 minutos después de que habíamos entrado! ¡Todo el mundo después de nosotros fue servido antes que nosotros! Cuando llegó la comida estaba muy buena excepto que se olvidaron del pudín negro. La gota que colmó el vaso fue que la mesa de al lado nos pidió su factura y fue llevada a su mesa. Pedimos que nos dijeran que tenías que ir al mostrador a pagar. Lo cual hicimos, pero tuvimos que decirles lo que teníamos. En resumen, la comida aquí es muy buena personal de espera muy muy pobre!

Almost empty restaurant, food took forever to come, two pizzas were dry and poor quality, burrata the smallest quantity - wouldn’t recommend to anyone

They were able to offer a table to us during a busy period, which is always appreciated. Excellent service by the staff, and the food was pretty decent. Only criticism is, as ever, pop music in an Italian restaurant. Never been a fan to start with, but it clashes a bit with whatever ambience is otherwise aimed for. We shall be back :)

Realmente disfrutamos de nuestra comida aquí, sopa de tomate y pimientos con un tostado de queso, personal encantador y un agradable ambiente relajado en el centro de York, bien vale la pena una visita.

I would not recommend this place. Slow service. Food certainly not identifiable as that depicted. The food wasn’t good, lots left over which is unusual in my family Mix up with order and further mix up with bills. Food wasn’t dressed properly and a few ingredients actually left out! Reduced bill by a tiny amount for the terrible service but we would never go back

Tuve que esperar inicialmente para sentarse, pedir y pagar en el mostrador y luego esperar mucho tiempo para las bebidas. El servidor vino a decir que no había salmón para los huevos reales. Mi marido pidió algo diferente que era más barato. La comida finalmente llegó y estaba fría. El defensor también estaba podrido. No hubo ningún intento de reembolsar la diferencia en el costo de la comida, no fue mucho, pero no se hizo ningún intento. Siempre dejo una propina, ya que he trabajado en la hospitalidad, pero el servicio era tan terrible y no podía justificar. Nunca volvería.

As someone who is neurodivergent the music was far two loud. Even my mum who isn't neurodivergent agreed so I spent the whole time with my noise cancelling headphones on. There was a lot of waiting around the staff seemed to be talking a lot to each other and re doing tables that had just been cleaned. It felt a bit disorganised. We were there to celebrate my mother's birthday and it felt as though we couldn't really enjoy ourselves due to my sensory needs being so heightened. It's supposed to be waitress service but they didn't seem to acknowledge when people had finished ordering and finished there meals. Ultimately I don't think we'll be returning. The front doors are really heavy to push and so if you struggle with your co-ordination skills it can be really challenging. It does have a push button but they don't always work and the unpredictability of this does come across as a concern. We didn't even get given our free bottle of cava as the email stated we would do if we booked online. They just seemed a bit clueless and disorganised. I've been twice in the last 6 months now and I don't plan on going back until they get things sorted because it is a bit of a let down to people like myself. I won't be recommending it to my friends.

Went earlier in the week it was bang average and rather expensive. Food was alright, no beer on draught and only silly expensive beer in bottles. I'd not bother going again.

Excellent service by 3 different staff! We were very impressed and pleased with the service here. We were first welcomed warmly and enthusiastically by a male staff who told us to wait as he was busy and later apologised before showing us to our table. Next, a very cheerful lady took our order and another kind lady served the food. Each one had a bright smile and made us feel welcome! The pizza was not too bad, although the dough became hard when it cooled down, the flavours were still great. I enjoyed the chilli oil. We felt that the gnocchi was too mushy for our liking and when we gave feedback, the staff kindly offered several options to resolve the issue and we eventually decided to refund the order. Throughout the process, the kind staff remained professional and did not seem upset with us. It was a very pleasant dining experience for us as Asians in UK.

(Visited September 2024) After a previous meal, I won 40% off the next visit and so came here for tea with a friend. The Saltimbocca Chicken Sage (chicken, prosciutto and sage, potato and cabbage) was a fairly hearty meal- about as good as a chain gets, really. -- (Visited May 2024) My friend and I came for tea here as- to our surprise- Tastecard can be used on a Bank Holiday! I ordered the Pea & Goat’s Cheese Ravioli: a slightly tarte and creamy pasta dish- very enjoyable. Service was pleasant. -- (Visited Jun 2019) My family and I came here on Father’s Day: it was one of the only places that accepted tastecard. Our previous visit to a Prezzo was a bit of a let-down, but this time around we were all far more impressed! I ordered the roasted salmon fillet: this already comes with vegetables, but you also get to choose a side. I wasn’t quite sure what to go for, but I’d recommend paying the extra 25p for the fries infused with truffle oil and shavings of cheese. Although chips and veg is a bit of an odd combo, they were lush! For dessert, I went for the Salted Caramel Chocolate tart. I enjoyed it, but a bit more caramel sauce wouldn’t have gone amiss. My dad and brother got the Chocolate Brownie Dome which was an interesting and tasty-looking pudding. My Mam would have got the Honeycomb Smash Cheesecake, but there was none left. Service was prompt and friendly. We were very pleased, especially at the value for money!
