Ordered takeaway. Very tasty Thai food, not too sweet or sickly like some places can be. Pad Thai was tasty, and the duck was very nice. Would recommend.

Ok food was ok overall but very average was quite expensive for what we had , 1 diner did not enjoy it but the rest thought it was ok, waitress was a bit inefficient

It's sad to say that our take away last night was poor. We live locally. I run a food business so I'm always cautious as I understand how hard it is in hospitality. The food used to be amazing. Its not the quality it used to be. Very expensive and very small portion. We won't be returning customers sadly

I'm sad to have to write this review, however as someone who has visited here for over 15 years and having given them a fair few chances, sadly I have to. We paid nearly £40 for a meal for two. Ordering a starter for 2, we expected more than a couple of small pieces of chicken satay and some pathetic excuses for spring rolls. Usually you would get a selection of dips with this starter, however when I asked where they were I was told there are only two. When I got home and opened the pots, there was hardly any sauces in them, certainly not enough for two people. The portions of the main courses and insultingly small for the cost. The food quality has also deteriorated over the last few visits. The only good thing about the small portion size was the fact that we didn't get to eat more of the tasteless food. I am unsure as to whether it has changed hands recently, I know the business was up for sale, they closed over January for refurbishment and I did ask if it had new owners and was told it wasn't, so I'm unsure whether that has been the issue or not Very sad really, we won't be returning I understand that restaurants are all struggling to survive at this time, however if this is how you cost save then I really think you need to change your business plan guys.

Really tasty Thai food and not too expensive. Portion size is not huge so if you’re hungry make sure you order enough. Great quality and friendly staff. I will 100% be returning and would recommend for anyone wanting a Thai meal

Eaten here loads in the past. The food has always been excellent. The last time we went. We were just passing so popped in without pre booking. The place was empty and they accommodated us. Which I thought was great, the service was slow, with new staff who didn't seem to know how to take orders. (I had to prompt the lady as to how I wanted my steak cooked) otherwise I wouldn't have been asked. I would have happily found somewhere else had they not had room. Once we had eaten I paid and left. Upon getting home. I checked the bill and noticed a service charge had been added to the bill. (Never had this before here). Considering it was only two of us eating.i thought this was a bit unusual and cheeky just to add it. I do tip but only when the service justified it. Unfortunately you just lost a loyal customer.

Only had a takeaway as we are staying in the local area. Portions were small for price, however food flavour was very nice. MAIN Isssue, every dish we opened apart from rice had multiple long hairs. Rice, prawns crackers were fine but the 3 main dishes were very off putting when your pulling long hairs off your serving spoon.

I’ve been using this restaurant for some years for take away and generally very good but recently the portions are getting less and less. The amount of vegetables in the curries seems to be reduced each time I get a curry. One piece of cauliflower and a couple of bits of red pepper are not enough. Please go back to your usual levels of ingredients otherwise no point getting a take out.

The best Thai food ever. The takeaway service is fantastic. The only wish is that the takeaway tubs were recyclable/compostable, as I'd happily pay a little bit extra for those.

Worst Thai food ever had. Everything is too sweet and small portions made this meal so bad and expensive ! Definitely not recommend.

Our first visit whilst staying in the area. We had an amazing meal. Food was excellent, staff were great and great value for money!

Absolutely beautiful meal. One of the nicest meals I have ever eaten amd I am 56! 4 of us all had something different and each one was absolutely delicious and very different. Staff were all friendly and efficient. We also had a couple of cocktails which were lovely! Prices are also good. We will definitely be going back again soon.

The tiger prawns starter with sweet chilli sauce is very good. My wife had the sizzling Duck with rice which was very tender. The French coffee and normal coffee were good and hot. This has been tepid at other restaurants.

Superb. Lovely small restaurant, friendly staff, and great food. I’ve had many Thai dinners in various cities around Britain and abroad and I did not expect a little restaurant in Yorkshire to be better than almost all of them. Recommend anyone to eat here.

We were a family of four with a young child and were seated in a back room with plastic tablecloths and plastic chairs It was only 5pm Food portions were the smallest we've ever had and did not merit the prices charged All topped off with a 10 % service charge Won't be returning

Food is ok, not mindblowingly delicious (maybe soups are a bit below the expectations) but ok. But it's very scarce volume and very overpriced. We got set menu for £22.95 per person (plus 10% service charge on top) for 4 of us, and for starters got 1 small chicken skewer, 1 tiny fishcake (size of jaffa cake biscuit), 1 spring roll and about a tea spoon of salad. For main it was 2 sharing plates with beef and [overcooked, therefore rather hard] prawns, which was frankly not enough for 4 adults, masaaman curry and rice. The service was nice, and the lady serving us was lovely - but It was very disappointing experience. Just to mention, Ivy's charges £23.95 for 3, not 2 course set menu, being in totally different league both food and atmosphere wise. I like Thai food, and happy to pay extra for it - but next time will go to Zaap for authentic and satisfying meal.

A good restaurant tucked away in a quiet corner. Reasonable prices and flavoursome meals. The coconut soup was spicy and fresh. All dishes were good but I wouldn’t say we were blown away or it was exceptional. Definitely one of the nice Thai places. Customer service was good too.

Great food, but they slap a 10% service charge on the bill without telling you, even when there's only 3 of you, and you've spent over £100....why? especially as the service wasn't very pleasant at the beginning of our meal, telling us we couldn't have cocktail drinks because they were too busy!!!!!!

Fantastic place. Very reasonably priced. I have tried most of the menu now as we eat here regularly and it never disappoints. The service is genuinely good. The house beer is from the bottle, but at least it is a 500ml bottle and normally Hobgoblin or spitfire which I don't mind. Most of the other selection are smaller 330ml bottles. I have eaten here 20+ times. Hence the 5 stars

It was my first visit to this restaurant, and I was certainly not disappointed! Their menu covers all favourites, my choice being Phed Pat Nam Prik Pow, which was outstanding! Will definitely be back!

This was our first time at Sangthai and it won't be our last. Food was so delicious 😋. The staff were all lovely, great atmosphere. It was truly amazing 👏 The price was great too :-)

This restaurant was recommended to us and we are so pleased it was - we hadn’t booked and although the restaurant looked busy this didn’t seem to be a problem an we were seated within 2 mins of entering the restaurant- our drinks order was taken an we were left to browse the menu - we started off with starters of ribs an chicken skewers which were absolutely delicious- we then ordered the sizzling duck - and the chicken with peppers - rice an noodles - I’m not really a duck fan unless it’s crispy with a pancake but oh my this was absolutely delicious cooked to perfection an sooo good as was the chicken dish - the rice came in a little wicker basket which I thought was quite quirky it was the best Thai rice I’ve had an we’ve been to Thailand - the noodles were good to an not sticky an stodgy like I’ve had in other places - it was really lovely and we will definitely be going back real soon :)

We visited last Sunday for my first Thai restaurant experience. The restaurant was very quiet but the service was great and the starters, mains and desert we had were excellent. A good selection on the menu. We will certainly be returning.

Great food great service and a great price. We had a Vegetarian set menu for 2. £32 takeaway price and there were tones of food. 6 or 7 plastic tubs of various delicious food. Epic!

Visited here many times over the years and always found it lovely. We visited again last night and sadly it wasn’t as nice. The food was tasty but the whole restaurant was freezing!! I don’t think any heating was on at all… it was a very unpleasant evening spent eating food in a very very cold environment. My advice is to either wrap up very very warm! Or only visit whwn it’s summer months. We will not be returning here, after travelling 1hr 20mins to get there to spend the whole evening shivering we couldn’t wait to get back to our car! Sorry, it was a beautiful place but now for ya has lost its touch.

Amazing food, great service, would definitely recommend to any thai food lover

The food is really good here and it is the second visit we have made to this restaurant. The tables are well spaced and it is a pleasant place to enjoy some fine Tia food. We have only been in December and both times it was a little chilly (both times being minus degrees outside), but we prefer this to being too hot. If stopping at the Parsonage Hotel it is only a 5 minute walk and a must try place to go to.

Visited last week and enjoyed lovely meal. Staff very polite, food very tasty and reasonably priced. Menu varied. Parking a little difficult with a big car!

Excellent meal and really good staff.

Hubby and I had been shopping in York and decided to call in Sangthai for something to eat on our return home. We had seen the roadside sign for many years when we had driven past and were so pleased we finally went there to eat. We did encounter a bit of a problem finding the restaurant and car park. When we turned in where the sign was we went down a small gravel path which seemed to take us to residential buildings. It was only on further inspection that the restaurant was found after driving through a very narrow brick pillared entrance. The car park was large however, the brick walled entrance very narrow so be careful if in a large vehicle. The restaurant was quite busy and had a lovely atmosphere to it. We were served by a smartly dressed, friendly and courteous young man. Menus were given and he talked us through many of the dishes on offer. Starters were had of spring rolls and soup, plenty of spring rolls were given enough for two people never mind just one! Two different stir fry dishes with noodles was had as the main course. Both dishes were extremely tasty and delicious and pleased to say we were brought warm plates to serve them on. Our table was numerously visited by the gentleman who served us and also a lady, each time making sure everything was too our liking and if there was anything else we wanted. When leaving and paying the bill we were shocked to see how cheap it was for all the dishes and drinks we had. Nice to be wished a safe journey home on our departure. We are delighted with the food and experience we had at Sangthai and look forward to a return visit in the near future. We would also highly recommend anyone going here for something to eat.

Decent value, including beers we came out at 30 each. The food was good, with he shrimp fried rice being the favorite. We didn’t have any curry but may give that a go next time. While everything tasted fine, the main portions (tofu, squid, etc) are quite small and, and the dishes are dominated by onions, peppers, and other mixins. The fish was not great quality, but the prices are low

Very attentive, helpful with the dishes. The food was amazing, great flavours. Two courses with drinks for a little under £50. Excellent value !!!

Good food always! Just the guy on the phone is a bit of a nit picker and so is annoying, when asking for a slightly different option with a dish ie asking for beef to be added he makes you feel like you're asking for the moon!. I'm sure the owner wouldn't appreciate it.

Very fresh, tasty dishes. Friendly service in cosy surroundings. A five minute walk from our hotel. Food was reasonably priced, drinks pushed the total bill up as us often the case.

Wow what can I say about the food in here me and my partner travel around the country quite frequently and this by far was the best meal weve had all over, the service was great the ambience was superb 10 out of 10 for everything

The chicken fried rice I had was the best I've ever eaten. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his Pad Thai Service was slow they seemed short staffed but they compensated with free crackers.

Think I caught the front desk staff on a bad day as they weren't particularly friendly but the food made up for it.

Brilliant Thai takeaway on our door step from our site. As owners we are regular visitors for a takeaway and recommend for our guests that are visiting. Always hear positive reviews and is in a great location.

First visit to this restaurant but we sadly won’t be returning. Our table was booked for 7pm on a Saturday night but there was only 1 other table of 3 guests in the restaurant. The whole place is in dire need of a revamp/paint job...

Just had a family meal here today on the 23/4/22. Food was absolutely amazing, never had Thai food before and I'm definitely a fan! I ate a yellow curry with king prawns and coconut rice for my main meal and it was delicious, very filling but didn't leave me feeling bloated. The food arrived quickly and the staff were constantly checking on us, to make sure we were doing okay. This is really appreciated, as it made us feel welcome and that the staff were looking after us! 🙂 There is also a lovely dessert menu, with some tasty puddings. I would recommend the deep fried ice cream! It was all topped off with a nice cup of coffee. All in all, a great dining experience with lovely food and staff. Will definitely be returning. Thank you everyone! 😁

So, started poorly...ignored for first few minutes whilst man on the reception joked with a takeaway client....starters poor, main course good, overall pretty average. We have been a few times, sadly not again of which is a shame as local.

It is our first ever restaurant visiting in Yorkshire. We were served by staff named "new" she has been so sweet and very friendly. We have been to few thai restaurant in London but the customer service here is very nice. It is very welcoming. New made sure we felt welcome and very sweet telling us of some of their menus and suggestions of some dishes. Not to forget mr Kong who was also very friendly and welcoming. Lovely restaurant and atmosphere, we highly recommend it. Thank you New! 😊

I am a Coeliac and very careful what I eat. Waiter was helpful with G F choices and relayed the allergy to chef. Enjoyed the meal and no after effects thankfully.

I was staying outside York for a spa break and came across this restaurant. So glad I did as food was delicious & service excellent. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic meal best Thai I have had We went on Saturday night took some friends out for a meal .we had a sharing platter I had the sizzling duck delicious.my husband is a celac so no wheat gluten .Lots for him to choose big thumbs up for that .

We were staying nearby for a family wedding and so needed somewhere to dine on the Friday night. We stumbled across this gem by accident, having tried a local pub that was fully booked due to the great weather. We shared a number of dishes, most notably the sweet corn cakes to start and the sizzler duck for one of the mains. It was all very tasty and we didn’t leave a crumb. Would go again if we were ever out that way. Thanks again!

First meal out after lockdown and great grub.The staff are friendly and looked after us well. I had one of the Sizzler meals with noodles and bottle of red wine and it was a grand night.

Had a green curry, very tasty but quite hot. Thought the green one was milder but nice all the same. Next time will ask them to tone it down a bit.
