Excellent food, friendly staff in a relaxing and authentic setting. Definitely my favourite place to eat on Bishy road :)

We visited last weekend as a last minute walk in. We didn't realise it was a Thai at first, I walked past it in the afternoon thinking it was a cafe. Really good service and very friendly staff. Food was very good, spicy and interesting. The soup was especially good. We enjoyed it so much we went again the following evening.

Visited here for a birthday meal 8 of us. Upon arrival we just sat down, wasn’t welcomed or sat. Waited around 15 minutes until we asked to order drinks, drinks came, ordered starters. Starters very nice and tasty. Mains were all very good and tasty. Slow to clear tables, so table got full quick. Overall, good food, drinks were average wine etc, service let it down for me. Would recommend and would visit again.

Ordered food via Deliveroo. The food was both poor, tasteless and chewy. I tried to rectify by requesting a refund to resolve my issue for the dishes I was dissatisfied with but the restaurant failed to comply. Lost a loyal customer as a result. Beyond disappointing.

One of my favourite Thai places in York. The food here is absolutely delicious and great as a dine in or takeaway option. The gluten free options are clearly labelled on the menu with quite a few different dishes being gf. The only thing to note is that when I said I was a coeliac, I was told the gf labelled fish cakes wouldn't be suitable due to cooking methods creating cross contamination. While it is really good that the staff are so well trained in dietary requirements and were able to tell me this clearly to prevent me from getting poorly, it is a shame that something labelled gluten free on the menu wasn't ultimately suitable for coeliacs. They instead advised a different gluten free starter which ended being fantastic.

Lovely little Restaurant with fantastic food that was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. The service given was exceptional, and we were even allowed to bring our little dog in (not in evenings) which was a blessing. We will certainly be back when in York again.. Went here tonight for the first time celebrating our anniversary. It was perfect! The food, the vibe, and the staff were fab! Will absolutely be going again.

We were spending two nights in York staying near 'Bishy Road' so spotted Rice Style on our first evening. It was a damp Monday evening, and on stepping into this delightful restaurant we received a very warm welcome (cosy warm environment and warm and friendly staff). We chose a very nice Pinot Blush and two main courses, which were both super tasty and quite frankly amazing! The following evening we decided rather than risk trying somewhere new, we would go back again. The restaurant was busy, but they were able to accommodate us, and once again, we received the same excellent welcome and service. This time, we decided to choose a selection of dishes from the starter menu to share. We had prawn crackers, deep fried soft shell crab, duck rolls, Tom Kah soup, and the most amazing scallop dish called Hoi Tod. The flavours were exquisite! Highly recommended.

Really nice, friendly Thai restaurant. Been before but had something relatively tame (as in no heat) went for a meal recently and opted for something with a two chilli sign. The lovely waitress taking the order told me it was "spicy" and would I like a milder version. I made the mistake of saying no. Unless you like steam coming out of your ears, the two chilli syllable is to be avoided. My eyes were watering and my throat was on fire. Having said that, the flavour was beautiful (yes, I could still taste) and perfectly cooked. Maybe I'm a wimp, and it wasn't what most people would describe as hot, but I'd say choose with caution. All said and done, I would go back for sure and would recommend as the menu had plenty to choose from. I would heartily recommend their spring rolls. I can't remember the Thai name, but they came with a chilli sauce dip (which was also hot!)and we're divine.

We ate here prior to our netball match and the delicious food gave us an unbelievable edge! The dishes are full of flavour and fired up our defence to get so much turnover, which was rewarded by our shooters the other end. I would recommend this place even if you don't need the extra pep the amazing food gave our elite athletes this evening. We will definitely return, but post-match next time so we can all relax and enjoy further dishes from this winning menu.

Nice food but very expensive especially for the portion size I got. A bit unreasonable prices in my opinion.

Dinner was OK. It may be more authentic than we are used to, I'm not sure. It wasn't as good as our Thai restaurant in the states. We didn't care for the Tom Yum soup. Our curries were good but not special.

Chanced upon this and so glad we did. Superb food and generous portions. Beef salad starter to die for, extremely tasty with a perfect chilli kick. Would gladly return.

We are staying at the caravan club site at Rowntree Park and decided to try here for our evening meal, the food was absolutely superb, the service was quick and courteous, will definitely come back and would recommend 👍

Took a chance and booked this local restaurant for a date on Friday eve. Really cosy and atmospheric and the food was the best Thai food I’ve ever had. The chicken satay in particular was a mile above the tired skewers you normally get. Will definitely return and highly recommend.

Recently moved to York and managed got lucky with a walk in on a Saturday night (you should book as this gets busy). The food was delicious and well presented. I had a stir fry dish which was fragrant and tasty. Loved the coconut rice too. My partner had one of their specials which he also enjoyed. Delighted to have found such a gem on our doorstep.

I cannot put enough stars for this place. I have enjoyed every meal I have had. The curries are cooked to perfection, the spices are so awsome, really good balance, the dishes are always well presented and come with good wines. The staff are lovely too, really caring but not overwhelming, everything in this restaurant is just right. Cosy inside in winter, lovely decking area to enjoy your meal in the summer. Relaxed atmosphere. I strongly recommend!

Came for dinner at the recommendation of my partner who had been 2 weeks prior with work. Both our starters and mains were divine, and the staff incredibly polite and helpful. Some of the best Thai food I've tried. We'll be back soon

Best things being the starter and Thai prawn crackers. This is as both mains were extremely salty. This was a takeaway we were really looking forward too. It was expensive considering we couldn't eat the mains due to salt overload. 😕

Went for a 10 year anniversary meal with my wife to Rice Style, and we both agreed that it was possibly the nicest food we’ve ever had. Service was excellent and unassuming and the ambience was just right. Highly recommended, particularly if you are vegetarian or gluten-free, like me. 🙏

We had high expectations, but unfortunately, we were very disappointed. The stir-fry was nothing like I had many times in the past, and I forced myself to eat it. It looked like the vegetables were bought in a supermarket. It wasn't tasty

We ordered a takeaway. Expensive, but I don’t mind if it’s worth it. Paid £18.40 for the 2 person mixed starter and we were disgusted by the portion size. In general portions were small, which is ok providing the food is tasty, but the starter was next level. See photos below. We had 1 spring roll to share between 2 of us! 1 Rib each, one small fish cake (bite size) and a tiny bit of chicken satay that wouldn’t have event filled 1 skewer. Imagine actually sitting up 1 spring roll! We called the restaurant to share our disappointment thinking they might have missed something, but they confirmed they only serve half a spring roll each.

Rice Style offers an attractive but still casually comfortable decor and dining atmosphere. There's nothing pretentious about it, but it's still elegant. Excellent service is allied with lovely cuisine, with plenty of noticeable preparation details that are often missing in other restaurants. No corners cut here. In short, these nice people are "all in" with offering superior Thai dishes. Clearly they want customers to want to return. It works. The restaurant has a nicely equipped full bar and broad wine selection.

Old Siam? Excellent food regardless

A great little Thai restaurant, food was perfect. We were a walk-in on a busy evening and they arranged a table for us despite being fully booked. Only criticism is the lack of food for children

Ate here with a large group last friday. The food was very good. My Red Curry was delicious. The place is nice inside. Prices a bit more than average but worth it. The only thing i dislike is the fact that they add on a service charge which led to us being slightly short when the money had been collected; despite everyone leaving a tip. I prefer to decide what tip to give rather than this being dictated to me.

A family meal whilst staying in York. Excellent meal, beautifully presented and very tasty. Would certainly recommend eating here

The majority of reviews are very positive - perhaps this is those who eat in ! I ordered a takeout- we were advised to collect in 30 mins -I arrived at 30 mins the takeaway was ready and I parted with £50, for 3 mains ( 2rice 1 noodle) - for the detailed readers the journey home was 4 mins in a insulated bag - so the review ( The facts) The Noodles were inedible ( mush and cold ) in fact all meals were barely warm ( 35oC for those who give a frick) and whilst all different by name the each base sauce were indistinguishably the same 🤷‍♂️ and the quantity of chicken & beef when balanced against the £50 price was not VFM - so scores on the door 3 for taste ( I guess it had taste ) - 2 for not presenting a hot meal - VFM simply big zero - I’d been happier giving the money to charity - at least I’d felt a some altruistic happiness- Hay Ho

Nice atmosphere, but food let it down. I really like Thai food, and before you go here it's worth that this is fusion. Normally, I don't mind a twist but in this case those twists made the dishes objectively worse. Cooked well, just not impressed with the flavor combinations - the original dishes are better. There's at least three better Thai places in York. Most disappointing was that the food came with free food poisoning, which is never a good sign.

After several visits this remains one of our favourite York restaurants, good food selection. As we are not drinkers can't comment on the wine selection or drinks list. Always a warm welcome, with good service, food is quick and well cooked. The only question mark is the bohemian decor and the less than comfortable seating. You can find yourself being seated very close to other tables; that as a positive or a negative, depending on your view.

The chef made my order less spicy at my request which I appreciated. Very fresh and tasty food!

Came across this lovely Thai as we were staying in a hotel not far away. I got myself a takeaway to take back to the room. Absolutely gorgeous food - one of the best Thai meals I’ve had in a long time! I had the green curry with pork belly - which was a lovely change as I don’t see pork belly that often on menus. It also came with rice within the price - any choice too so I had the ginger and garlic rice. The Rice Style beef salad in their starters was also amazing. So fresh and spicy. Thank you and I’ll definitely be back on our next trip!

Went with my husband and my mum. Service brilliant. Food delicious and really authentic Thai flavours. A real treat to go somewhere that serves beautifully prepared and really tasty food. Both starters and mains were beautiful. My husband had a bit of everyone's and said he struggled to choose as he liked the sound of all of it. Absolutely brilliant. Really recommend. A hidden gem. Being just outside the city walls (but only a 15 minute walk from the railways station) this is perhaps somewhere to seek out rather than come across but chance but it's well worth doing just that. A family run business, they are extremely welcoming and accommodating. But the food here is the real star. Absolutely delicious authentic Thai food. I had the hot and spicy Tom yum soup to start and then chicken in basil, garlic and chilli sauce, both of which were amazing. Very highly recommended ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It's more expensive to order a dish on deliveroo than it is too eat in, I don't see how that can be the case. The Chu chee is fantastic but £19.50 on the menu and £20.50 on deliveroo before fees!

Wonderful experience. The staff were THE most friendly that I have ever experienced. The food made the visit even better. Large dishes with a very high proportion of meat too.

We have been here twice now and will definitely try to become regulars. The food is outstanding! Perfectly balanced flavour and textures. Presentation also beautiful. I’ve never been to Thailand but my sister has and was equally impressed with the food here. Definitely a place to visit.

Visited during a York break. Food exceptional, portions generous and staff were friendly and customer service very good. It was busy when we visited, however didn't have to wait long for drinks or food.

Me and 8 other people found this restaurant on the way into York after the races. We did not book and had the staff making extra table room for us. We got seated and had a great service come round to take a drinks order. We then ordered our meals as the drinks came out. The starters came out quick, cooked perfectly and presented amazingly. We were already impressed. After this the mains came out in the same fashion. The taste of all the food was better than expected. I always find Thai tastes good... but I have never had Thai that tasted this good. Honestly, It was amazing! Customer service, food, options, quality, presentation, and friendliness - all perfection.

Really excellent food, service is always similarly great. A gentle walk through that part of York is always well served by a visit here.

Just stayed in York at the Rowntree camping and caravan park and this restaurant is just facing it. What a great find, ate there twice food and service were top notch. I had one of there specials Beef Cha Chee, it was awesome. Will be taking my wife next time we visit York.
