Fantastic food and lovely friendly service. Everything we had was really tasty. Will definitely return in the future.

The standard of food is absolutely amazing the curries being our favourite. The chill ‘off the beaten track’ vibes also makes this place really special.

In my opinion, this is the best Thai restaurant in York. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Absolutely delicious Thai small bowls. We ordered 7 dishes between two of us, we could have probably ordered slightly less to satisfy us. The food was absolutely beautiful, the Massman in particular was delicious. Highly recommend and we have found a new favourite Thai place in York.

Absolutely appalling service, after waiting over 2 hours for 2 Tapas dish’s, I asked the waiter who rudely said they had just forgotten about us and had started prioritising other tables, absolutely disgusting. Definitely would recommend couples to avoid at all costs. Would give Zero stars if I could.

Absolutely delicious food, lovely chilled atmosphere and amazingly friendly and kind staff. Personally I would recommend any red curry sauce dish, any of the crispy chicken dishes, the pork belly and crispy beef. Gorgeous food!

Ordered Take Away from the restuarant 3-4 times and never been dissapointed. We ate in the restaurant for the first time today and it was just as lovley! The food is incredible, the staff are so welcoming and kind. And as a person who has around 5 severe allergies, they cater for me everytime with a smile which I can't thank them enough for. So great to have such of a gem of a resturant in York! Thanks Tah Tien, you're our favorite!

Hyped reviews. Pathetic service. Really disappointed. We ordered a takeaway tonight. It was almost as if they just packed the left overs for us. The crispy chicken doesn’t have a shred of chicken just fried batter. The pad Thai noodles seems like a portion for a toddler. It was a chicken pad Thai but no chicken can be found. Seems like the 4.7 rating is fake and not genuine. When we called back and tried to explain the person who picked up the phone just said the restaurant is closed now. No accountability or responsibility.

We went as a group of 4. We tried a lot of dishes and we were all impressed. It’s a tapas style which is perfect for sharing. The food was so good that we ordered extra plates to try. The pork balls with nuts and pineapple is delicious. (We ordered 2 ). Crispy mushroom and crispy beef are delicious too. The chips and gravy (don’t let the name fool you) was super crispy and tasty. Egg fried rice and prawns salad were fantastic. Sticky rice with pineapple for dessert was a great addition.

Amazing food great size for sharing. We ordered 15 plates for four of us. All delicious. Best Thai food that I have had for a good while. Friendly helpful staff. Only down side maybe a little cold but the weather was also very cold. No complaints only praise. Visit if you are looking for Thai food. Will be back 100% probably tomorrow night. I found this spot on a walk from the train station into town and couldn't have been happier with the result. After a 6 hour journey to York, and not eating all day, I needed something tasty to satisfy my hunger cravings. Tah Tien offered exactly what we were looking for, with its tapas menu, it allowed all my family to have dishes based on their pallets and preferences. There was a large range of vegetarian dishes for a Thai restaurant and some not-so-spicy dishes for the family. All the dishes that were served were exquisite, this restaurant will be hard to beat in York! P.S. I also highly recommend you get the mango sticky rice for dessert!

Teeny tiny portions at expensive prices. Sat down & had ordered drinks before even being told that the dishes were 'tapas style'. We were told to order 3 dishes each (which would come out at minimum £25). 💸💸💸 Food tastes good but I think they seriously need to rethink their pricing/ menu structure if they are serious about getting repeat customers🫤

We came for dinner with friends and had the most delicious meal! Our lovely waitress recommended about 2-3 dishes each as they’re tapas sizes and there were so many delicious options and varieties - I especially liked the ‘ancient Thai food’ section as you don’t find these dishes in many Thai restaurant chains. The massaman duck curry was one of the best I’ve had - and I’m from Thailand! It was a very authentic meal with even lovelier service. It’s truly a hidden gem in York. Will definitely be back again :) Thank you to the wonderful waitresses and chef!

Came to York for a couple of day. Wandered around, looking for a gem. Found one here ! The host is great, the waiteress was ok. The food was amazing, recommend. Only down side was the service charge added. Whilst given a choice to pay, would have been better if given as a tip.

Loved this! The street food was authentic Thai tapas style. It's not fancy, it's just great, honest, Thai food at a good price and with an excellent host. Thoroughly enjoyed it and it's a shame we live 5 hours away otherwise it would be our new favourite takeaway too!

Food was delicious and really authentic. Loved the sea bass. The smaller plates were a little smaller than I thought when they arrived. But they made up for it with incredible flavour and we all left full, so bigger sizes weren’t needed. Lovely service - warm and with a great buzz. Would definitely go back.

Went here with my daughter and we were staying in York. This was 2 kinscwalk from hotel on a side street. The welcome was warm and both servers were so attentive too. Food delicious and just the right amount too. Did not leave restaurant feeling bloated and uncomfortable. We would definitely recommend eating here.

Super friendly staff and great food! The pad thai was a bit too sweet to my liking, but it was still good. also had the green curry and Penang curry, both were very delicious and spicy! The only thing that threw us off a bit was the money sign on Google - it's definitely not just one £ sign. The portions are very small, if you want to get full you'll have to order 2-3 dishes each (4 if you're like my boyfriend who eats a bit more), which will cost about at the very least £20-30 each person. And a small steamed rice was almost £6! The food was indeed very tasty, but don't think I'll go back again when visiting York next time.

Great selection on the menu, very firendly staff and something for everyone to enjoy and share. Very tasty food freshly cooked and a lovely atmosphere in the place. It is quite a small restaurant so you may need to book, we chanced our arm and were lucky.

Went on a Friday night and found ourselves some very tasty food. We had the option... 3 dishes for £14 we picked 6 in total. All really delicious. We'd definitely go back, as there's so much more to have from the menu!

The food is absolutely delicious, and comes quite quickly. The staff are all lovely and helpful and really nice. This is a real hidden gem of York and thoroughly recommend. You need 2-4 dishes per person so it's not cheap but it's amazing. There are veggie and GF options

It's a lovely place to eat with amazing, tasty food. Very good service, lovely people. Every time then we visit York, we come here again and again. Highly recommended. 5*

Very small portions however the food was tasty - The menu is very confusing and doesn't offer any simple explanations of the type of dishes, they also dont include rice that is an extra charge - you will need 2 to 3 plates for a normal sized portion which can then get expensive - I really don't like that a service charge was automatically applied to my bill I have no problem tipping when I feel the service was good but really don't like that a 10% charge was added to the bill this certainly soured the experience.

We found this restaurant by accident. The food is simply delicious and without doubt the best Thai food we've ever tasted. Fabulous tapas style meals. We will definitely be going back and will strongly recommend it to family and friends.

Overall, a really lovely experience. For context, we visited for lunch on a Sunday, so it was quiet. Service was excellent; courteous, friendly and efficient. The menu could be a little easier to understand, but there is a good selection of dishes. Vegetarian dishes are a little limited, compared to other Thai restaurants I've been to. The food was delicious, fresh and with bold flavor. It was probably the best Massaman curries I've had, and the spring rolls were lovely. With the 'tapas' size dishes, it can get expensive quite quickly. I'll happily return next time I'm in the area.

Cute little place away from the bustle, with an extensive menu of authentic Thai cuisine. The food and service were excellent. We were first in at 5:30 on Tuesday and the place soon filled up.

When me and my partner came here for dinner, there was only one staff member on the restaurant floor and she hadn't worked there long - so we were amazed at how brilliant her service was! This is such a friendly place, with some of the most delicious food I've ever eaten. If you love umami flavours, I can't recommend it enough, and I'm always excited for my next visit.

Places that advertise as street food really annoy me. Street food is cheap, small portions and amazing. This place is not street food so why say it is.

My wife and I popped in as passing by, ordered three dishes each, plus rice and noodles. Each and every dish not only looked tasty, but tasted as good as it looked. Thank you so much. we will be back

This is a must-do for our next visit to York. Lovely lovely lovely. We were treated as though our meal was the only thing going on in the restaurant that drizzly night. I was traveling from the US with 2 teen boys who were exhausted and surly after line outages made our train journey to York from KC London 6 1/2 hours long, lugging a week's bags, in warm weather and crowded transport, and only chips and pepsi for lunch. One boy an opinionated omnivore; the other just beginning to eat food that touches other food on his plate. What could go wrong? The dining room is small and cozily elegant and cunningly set up to give each party elbow space. The tapa-sized portions were perfect for our trio. Duck spring rolls, chicken cooked with a variety of techniques and glorious sauces, wings well-worth nibbling, and our questions answered with patience and gentle suggestions. The proprietor and server were cheerful while we ordered incrementally - the boys said that they had been treated like adults - and the surliness evaporated into celebration. Not huge wine choices, but the whites are perfect. Next visit we'll order more broadly from the well-curated menu. Two weeks later, I am homesick for that dining room. Five stars, and as my grandmother would say: a star in the crown of this worthy place.

Absolutely gorgeous food. We wanted to try authentic Thai cuisines and street food and this place has a great menu with delicious Thai dishes. However portions were too small that we had to order two mains per each. And the starters and mains were quite similarly priced. I would suggest them to give a larger portion of main course even for a slightly higher price. The menu is kinda more specific with Thai curry names but the staff helped us to sort out which is which. Their service was super friendly and welcoming.

Really cosy place to eat and the food was delicious. Maybe it was a bit overpriced if you consider the size of the portions (quite small, good for lunch but for dinner I would say) but the quality was great, I really recommend the Massaman curry which is actually the best one I ever had since I visited Thailand! we agreed that if this was in London, we won’t bother to find another option for Thai food. everything we ordered from salad to dessert was so good, my best was the tom kha gui which is a spicy coconut soup. (can be a bit hot but not unbearable)
