We travelled to York for a dear friend’s birthday which was to be celebrated at a party in the clubhouse. We stayed in one of the super bungalows in the grounds and found it extremely comfortable and well equipped. Having recently taken up golf I made full use of the 18 hole course and the driving range. We had the most fantastic breakfast in the clubhouse and it was great value for money. Not sure exactly where it would rank in my list of breakfasts but it would be in the top 1. The party was such a great fun and I truly have to say that the buffet laid on by the kitchen staff was absolutely brilliant. The best ever, I kid you not. Melissa and the staff were very helpful and they will all probably have to put up with us again!

I needed to get the muscles back in tune. The driving range wasn't busy so I invested in a couple of baskets of balls. The range has a good setup with markers at regular intervals to help you check your performance.

Nice set up with 18 hole course & 9 hole par 3 course. Very flat so easy to walk but a bit "samey" with lots of par 3 holes.

Staying in an exceptional cottage in the grounds of the golf course at Swallow Hall, booked through Sykes Holidays. Fantastic location, very spacious cottage, very clean, warm and cosy, very well equipped, (everything you could want) would return in a heartbeat. Welcome pack consisted of a bottle of milk and cake, which was very much appreciated.

Had Enough. usually grumpy staff but now closed on a wet day with website saying nothing! So many better and nicer clubs in the area so Sorry, won;t be back.

Played this course a few times over the year, decided to go today but phoned ahead to see if the course is open, was told it was but trolleys and buggies aren't allowed, carry bags only! Very poor in my opinion when other courses are allowing trolleys with winter wheels fitted, swallow hall will loose a lot of business with that attitude

Great 18 hole golf course, nice and flat, which means easy on the legs. Open all year round. £22 on a weekend £20 weekdays. Plenty of parking. Good driving range. My go to for most golf rounds.

Played golf but didn't use the restaurant. ( Not enough time ) Course is great for £20 for 18 holes. Tree's everywhere and amazing greens with steep run offs. Lots of long par3. Friendly staff and had a great time. Lovely practice areas as well. Can't fault it for the money.

Clubhouse, course and the general facilities looked nice but that's as far as we got. Don't allow any non players on the course (including caddies) which was an issue as a single parent on holiday with 2 kids (7 &10). Very strange rule that wasn't mentioned on the website, not something I've come across at another course.

Tidy course, can’t ask for much more for the price.

Great place to visit by anyone, ranging from beginners to pros. The staff were friendly and approachable and understood that my son and I were only starting out, advising us where to go and practice our swings. Great golf course and topped off with seeing red squirrels, which made my lads day.

I booked practice hole for one hour to hit 8 and 9 irons to practice hole green May I say the course looked green and dry

We re staying in a cottage in the grounds! Lovely place!

Just left from a stay here at one of the cottages. Was a brilliant stay. Cottage is nice and modern with everything you could need, when we stayed it was really hot and Melissa the owner got us a fan at such short notice which was very appreciated. We stayed here for a family holiday to York easy commute as there is a park and ride 5 mins away at the designer outlets. Had a few drinks at the club house service was brilliant also had breakfast on our last morning to set us up for the long drive back home to Scotland and it was lovely, think we will be full for a couple of days!! Highly recommend a stay here we can’t wait to go back.

Great 9 hole par3 course and a cracking 18 hole course if you have more time. Nice and flat and the courses are pretty open so if like me you mostly don't hit a straight shot you have an opportunity to find your ball and have a second shot in. Nice club house, greens very fast and tee boxes well kept. Very enjoyable for an average player

Excellent place staff so friendly

We are not golfers but decided to use the restaurant at midday. We had some drinks and food, the food was excellent and great value for money. Service could not be faulted. Highly recommended.

Lovely holiday bungalow and very helpful/friendly owners. Just a pity the on-site bar/restaurant was not open throughout our week stay!!

I regularly play the 9 hole par3 course and it's quite enjoyable. Good mixture of holes which test your short game and irons.

Visit here regularly,although not golfers, as the food is of such a high standard and the service attentive and friendly. After several lunches spent outside during the summer months in the sunshine with the beautiful surroundings ,it’s good to know that the interior of the restaurant is warm and welcoming.

Played this course a few times now and always enjoy it. A lot of new trees which allow you to get away with a stray drive or too. But the course still has a few tricks up its sleeve to take shots off you. Lovely place and well worth a visit.

Excellent service and very good food. Will return soon. We had the soup and the steak with blue cheese sandwich along with home made chips.

Great place for a quick shorter round if gold. Offers an academy 9 hole as well as a full 18 hole. On site driving range and an excellent restaurant for the 19th hole.

Super time camping on our favourite campsite. Lovely and quiet with plenty of woodland walks.

Had a very pleasant breakfast at a very local spot for us. We must come back more often.

Just stayed another week in a beautiful cottage in beautiful surroundings. The golf course is in top class condition. (9 AND 18). The staff are amazing and nothing is a problem. The weather wasn't very good but this doesn't deter from the peace and quiet here. Will be booking again, hopefully soon,covid permitting. Cant speak to highly of this place. Thanks to you all.

We are members of the club & we wanted to show our support to the Scutt family since they had re-opened. The food is excellent & a great price. We just went for Sunday lunch & were well impressed, not just the quality but the quantity. Thank You for the great service, food & wonderful welcome. We will certainly be back.

Stayed at one of the cottages for a week. The owners are very friendly and helpful; the cottage was spotless and provided a perfect, peaceful family stay. The food at the club house is tasty and offers incredible value for money. The golf course is well kept and the driving range is also well maintained. There are walks in nearby Wheldrake Woods and Wheldrake Ings. It was a pleasure to stay here and made all the more so because of the super friendly nature of the owners, their family and the staff. A big thank you to them all.

Basic golf, scruffy 9 hole is good for starters, took 12yr old round and he enjoyed it but also mentioned scruffy bunkers etc. V grumpy lady on reception, has been for a number of years. Driving range details dont match website. Overpriced for what it is, Lots of better 18 hole options in it York

Outstanding place and people. The cottage we stayed in was spotless and peaceful. The family looking after the whole place are lovely and the most helpful, kind people you could meet. The golf course is kept in immaculate condition & the food in the restaurant at the club house is very tasty indeed and exceptional value. Altogether, an absolute pleasure to stay there.

Dont really know where to start with this gem .this was our third year running in tlhis beautiful location. Our cottage was as clean and luxurious as always. The staff are virtually all, amazing. Only the elderly lady, in golf reception let the team down. I think her name is sue ( just full of herself ). Jonaan and melissa are amazing and the pub and golf course staff are so helpful. Have booked again for October. Would highly recommend you try this place.

Bad customer service and very boring course. Good if you don’t want to lose your ball.

My partner and I decided to have a cycle ride from York to wheldrake ings and we went back through the Wheldrake woods. Even though G maps was advicing us to go through the Swallow Hall to join the main road back to York we were stopped literally 50 meters away from the entrance and we notice there was a car leaving the road and no other cars or people waking through. The person that stopped us told that because of the Covid19 the road was closed and we should return through the woods (strange as there were cars parked inside and people playing golf). We tried to explain the going back would take us another 7 to 8 miles but he persisted. It's not nice to see the people avoiding help one another even in this circumstances... Not that we went golfing there but you can tell who's working there does have a lack of empathy.

Beautiful course, brilliant greens, lovely people. Unfortunately I hit a few "Dominic Cummings" - ie - long drives out if bounds.

Exceptional Sunday lunch with very good service , clean pleasant surroundings and excellent value for money. Thank you ,not many places like this.

We had a brilliant New Year’s break away here, it was our first time at this cottage and we will definately return... We stayed for three nights in number one The Paddock, one of two cottages called this. These are converted farm buildings that have great privacy and overlook the edge of the on site golf course, we arent golfers, didnt see may golfers there as they are a way away and they are so peaceful, not a sound, especially overnight and no light to disturb you either. When we arrived the owners had left us a welcome pack and a bottle of Champagne to celebrate New Year which was most unexpected. The log burner fire was set ready to light and the place really cosy and warm already via the electric radiators in every room. Spacious bedroom and all roms spotlessly clean tastefully decorated. One of the owners Jonathan met us and was really friendly and welcoming and even had the fire lit for us when we returned on New Years Eve after a lovely day out, (his mum Christine even popped around early evening on seeing us return to check the fire was okay and to wish us Happy New Year, what a nice touch).. The place is very clean and is only a few minutes drive from the York Designer Outlet and approx 15 mins drive into York, with the market towns of Pocklington and Beverly also nearby. There is a park and ride bus service into York that operates from the Designer Outlet if you don’t want to drive into the centre. A really well located, peaceful, clean and tidy cottage with a nice welcoming atmosphere, would definately recommend and re-visit.

Stayed here over Christmas, great facilities, well furnished to a high standard. Well placed for York and forest walks locally which we enjoyed from the cottage. Would definitely return.

We've visited several times for a family Sunday Carvery, the food is fabulous as is the service, nothing is too much trouble as a couple of us are quite fussy eaters, it's well worth a visit and very reasonably priced

We booked one of Swallow's holiday cottages via Sykes Cottages and really liked our stay. Did not try the restaurant on site but will surely book the cottage again.

This is the second year running for us,staying in the paddock cottage at swallow hall. The cottage was warm and comfortable with all mod cons and finished to the highest standard. The owners can't do enough for you and nothing is a problem. The golf course is in great condition and the new couple running the restaurant are doing a fantastic job. Will be returning again without doubt. Thanks to you all for a great week.

Stayed here in self-catering accommodation back in 2009. Excellent location - just a little outside York and set within large grounds in a peaceful area.

Heard of this place from a friend about 2 months ago & have played it twice in a month, it is a par 64 which is a little short & has 6 or 7 par 3's, but don't be put off it is a cracking course most of the greens are tricky to get on to & it is well looked after.

Lovely course. Pay and play with no bookings required. Greens can be a bit tricky. Apart from the usual 18 hole course there is also a par 3 nine hole course plus a driving range and putting green. Well worth a visit

Upon arrival we were greeted by a lady in a somewhat melancholy mood. As 3 young boys, we were treated like outsiders which must have been due to the reason that we were not members. Whilst leaving, said lady warned us (whilst holding a cigarette) to play with 3 bags instead of 2. Of course we understand that this rule may be part of the club’s policy, but we think the manner in which this lady dealt with us was strictly unprofessional. On the other hand, the 9 hole course was well maintained and great fun to play.

Just stayed in a holiday cottage here, had a fabulous week with great grub in the clubhouse, excellent location for visiting surrounding area and very close to designer outlet.

Part of a complex comprising of an 18 golf course, with about 4 holiday bungalows of a high standard. Ample parking available. The holiday bungalows are the same ownership as the golf club. These are situated in a very private area and you have plenty of peace and quiet. The bungalows can be booked through Sykes Holiday Cottages and reasonably priced. Helpful owner's and highly recommended.

We had father's wake here. The buffet was superb, one of the best we have ever had. Ian the chef was there throughout helping to serve. Brilliant send off for dad, mainly due to Ian and his staff

Excellent accommodation and lovely friendly people and you can play golf as well if you wish. Handy for York.

Having recently attended a wedding anniversary at this Golf Club I was disappointed on a number of matters. Firstly the heating was turned off and it was not a particularly warm evening. Secondly someone should reconsider the lighting as it was something akin to a village hall environment. The most disappointing of all was the food provided. It lacked any creativity and I can safely say I have had better after cricket teas. This venue needs to properly consider what it’s future is. On a final matter- the entertainment was ‘amusing’ the band were a duo one of whom thought that roaming around the venue was somewhat an addition to the music. It was not. I would not attend this venue again. On

If you love golf and want a bit of luxury, rent one of the cottages. Sheer luxury and comfort.

Short but technical 18 holes, good small greens, open right through the winter, no winter tee's or temporary greens, no stupid hedgehog wheels required on trolleys, very good.

Sólo tuve semanas de descanso en una casa de campo en la sala de golondrina. Decir que fue pacífico es un eufemismo. La cabaña fue terminada al más alto nivel en todos los aspectos. Fuimos recibidos por el propietario y mostrados antes de descubrir bolsas de té, leche y un pastel de chocolate. El hecho de que su estadía en un complejo de golf de la mejor calidad se sume a la gran experiencia. Todo el personal fue amable y servicial en todo momento y la comida era realmente buena en el restaurante (ESPECIALMENTE LA CARVERY). Si está buscando un buen descanso en un bello entorno, este es el lugar para usted. Es solo un viaje de un tiro al parque y mucho más barato que aparcar en york. Salidas de compras en su puerta. En general, no encontrará un alojamiento de mejor calidad que este. Gracias a todos en Swallow Hall por una semana inolvidable.

Great golf, from 9 hole to 12 holes to 18 holes. Beautifully maintained grounds. Also touring caravan site. Complete with a small restaurant. Recommend visiting.

Nos alojamos una familia de 5, además de un perro en una de las habitaciones hermosamente decoradas y casas bien equipadas. Era un entorno tranquilo con mucho que hacer para los niños. Tuvimos un almuerzo de carne en el clubhouse, que era preciosa. Está muy cerca de York pero ubicado en el campo cerca del bosque, así que es ideal para un descanso relajante. Las instalaciones de golf eran fantásticas y ya hemos reservado nuestra próxima estancia. Recomiendo encarecidamente Swallow Hall!

Very informal and friendly. Choice of straightforward not too demanding 18 hole course or pretty 9 hole course. Clubs can be hired - useful if staying at the cottages on site

Fab 18 hole with a great seperate short 9 hole to test your irons out. Clubhouse is friendly and serves good choice of drink and food. Everything is really good value. Also in the summer has a great beer garden enjoyed by local, golfers and cyclists.

Hemos cenado en el Swallow Hall en muchas ocasiones, incluida la Navidad en los últimos años. Great location, quiet but still easy to reach York's tourist attractions and the park and rides. Really comfortable and clean cottage with welcoming staff. There's also tennis and golf facilities available on site, plus a range of woodland walks, and the on site restaurant do a superb Sunday roast too! Highly recommended.

The greens had recently been sanded making putting a waste of time. Maybe we could have been given the option of paying £14 for 12 holes.

We stayed at the Holiday cottage 27th june 2016 for a week. Fantastic cottage interiors very comfortable and high spec. A well ran family friendly business. Great golf course also Only 10 minutes to nearby Designer Outlets, York race course and York marina.Highly recommend a holiday there to anyone.

Alquilamos 3 de las cabañas - las fotos no les hacen justicia. Era tan tranquilo pero cerca del centro de la ciudad de Nueva York. Hay una pista de tenis para los más energéticos
