The best restaurants serving Default food in Stokesley Hambleton Yorkshire and The Humber

Started badly with poor service. Took the drinks order and food order but the drinks didn't appear for about 25 minutes. One drink arrived (unopened can of Coke no glass, had to ask for a glass) then about 15 minutes later the second drink arrived (now over 40 minutes to get 2 drinks). The main meal took roughly 45 minutes to 1 hour after that. These aren't exaggerated times in any way. Unlike some people who might visit this restaurant, I have tasted good African cooking before. The meal here when it arrived was very bland. The Injera was completely cold like it was just out of the fridge. I know this bread (like pancake) is not served hot but very cold pancake is not particularly tasty. Top that off with a supposed chicken stew and you have the makings of a very poor meal. It was basically cooked chicken on the bone with a none descript very spicy brown sauce covering it. Oh and all that cold pancake to eat it with, Mmmmm. I really do doubt these reviews saying how good this restaurant was. My experience was terrible. The atmosphere there was like the moon, none existent and very cold. The last thing was paying he bill, they said the prices had gone up since the menu was printed. Yeh, right. I've only given 1 star, they don't do half stars or minus stars unfortunately. Never again.

Lovely little coffee shop, nice peaceful atmosphere, dog friendly which is perfect if your like us and randomly nipped out on a Saturday morning for a walk and a coffee and quick bite to eat. The food we got was lovely and the coffee washed it down a treat. The staff were friendly and polite and weren’t pestering you, just brought the order to you and let you enjoy it. Really nice atmosphere and the cafe itself is really well set out. Would certainly recommend as a place to pop in and enjoy a coffee if calling through!

Had a lovely lunch here on Saturday and will definitely be returning back. We had the goats cheese baguette & pulled pork baguette which were both served with chips & salad and they were probably some of the best hot sandwiches we’ve had! Great value for money - will definitely be back!

Sunday lunch was perfect. Roasted lamb, plenty of veg and gravy. Desserts we're even better. Get the sticky toffee pudding. Staff very courteous and they really looked after us. Well done guys and also special thanks to the chef

Quaint old place, always a chilled atmosphere, fab on winter nights with a roaring fire going.

Got a coffee today got it home not sure there was coffee in it if there was it was weak put some more in it to get the taste staff did not look to happy to be there

Excellent value and great quality Fish and chips, rivals much more expensive establishments such as Drakes in York, equally tasty for 2/3 cost...

Cosy and friendly little cafe attached to the Millbry Hill shop but with its own entrance looking out over the bridge and the River Leven in Stokesley. Would definitely recommend the cheese scones.

Always fun, attentive bar staff, beautiful looking traditional pub. Great decor. Good prices. Land lady and family are extremely friendly and charming. The Landlord and licensee is exceptional and at the top of his game. Nice one.

We have visited numerous times now and have always enjoyed our visits. The food is always lovely and the staff are always friendly. Our favourites are the black pudding starter and the mussels starter.

We have used chapters for a few years and today the service was terrible The 2 young people serving where very lgnorant I like to sit at the window so we sat at a table that needed cleaning thinking they would clean it We sat there and sat there and after about 15 minutes they decided to ask us what we would like we ordered 2 drinks she returned to the bar and continued her conversation with the bar lad made no effort to get our drinks We decided that we had enough and walked out I’ve never complained like this before but we were very upset PS say goodbye to Dylan for us

Went for a birthday meal with my parents today, absolutely gorgeous food. Staff very friendly & welcoming, clean pub lovely atmosphere.

We had passed by many times but decided to call in for an early evening meal. The Good - the menu is based on what is served in the adjoining Fish & Chip shop. The Bad - service was slow and the food was excessively greasy. The Ugly - the seats are uncomfortable, blue & pink flourescent lighting is a bit nausea inducing and the background music was not in the background but almost killed conversation. An interesting experience but I doubt we'll repeat it.

He charged me 22 pound for a donner kebab and a chicken kebab. He really ripped me off when I complained about it he said he's charging for the chips " that should of come with the chicken kebab" he charged me for salad " that should of came with the donner kebab. He also charged me for the dip sauces that should of come with the kebabs. And even with all of that I still can't see how it came to 22 pound. Proper ripped off. When I complained he just started complaining about the prices he has to pay and the rises. Just charged me what he wants and he doesn't like it when you pay with card. So he can't pocket the tax!

Superb Suday Lunch! Perfect Yorkshire puddings, generous portion of pork, chicken or beef all cooked perfectly and tender. Contemporary presentation makes it a bit special. Amazing for £12.50. Will be going back, my no 1 Sunday lunch in Stokesley and Great Syton area.
