We had a great roast for all four of us. Very friendly, great service and good selection of real ales.

Not many places open from 8 for cold cyclists needing a decent coffee & bacon roll. Lovely staff, excellent service, great coffee.

Been meaning to write to say huge thank you - a fantastic evening - 115 for a BBQ and the food was outstanding. Delicious burgers and salads - and out of this world brownie. Whole team couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. It made the evening a great success and everyone was commenting on how good the food was - for a large number of people it was very impressive. Thank you.

As we’d planned a visit to Highgrove we decided to stay in Whatley Manor as they had this restaurant, which we hadn’t previously visited. We both went for the a la carte option. It was a good choice. What made in more special was that my wife asked if they could offer a fish main course and the chef kindly offered to cook her turbot. Which is one of her absolute favourites. Big tick! As you’d expect the food was superbly cooked as well as beautifully presented. My wife said her turbot was sublime. I opted for the lobster mains. It was lobster three ways. It was just quite delightful. I’d say the best I’ve EVER had in all the Michelin starred restaurants we’ve been lucky enough to visit around the world (including in Maine). On top of that the sommelier also kindly went the extra mile with her advice, help and service. Overall it was a lovey, lovely experience.

I don’t give negative reviews usually but felt the necessity to just write as this establishment has no email address on its website to keep my opinion within the business and if I telephoned I may not get to the powers above. Really nice location (we live 23 miles away ) recommend by a friend . The staff were faultless, the food acceptable but not outstanding. But when the bill came it was £5.60 for a large lime and soda. That is ridiculous- I questioned it with our delightful waitress and she apologised and said it was because it was 2xbottles and 2x lime . Maybe but come on you are so organised - get some soda large bottles in or a siphoned soda and be competitive. My lime and soda was just 40p less than my husbands pint of Guinness. That’s isn’t right - I was driving and lime and soda is the drink I enjoy - but .,,,,, your pricing is ridiculous-sorry to moan.

We were with a large party for a family birthday. A variety of meals were well received by two generations and the standard of all was first class and all courses were enjoyed by everyone. Thank you for providing a convivial atmosphere and excellent food for our celebration.

Popped into here on a recommendation while cycling. Lovely hidden spot with great cakes and coffee. Bike friendly with lots of bike parking, pumps and spare tubes. Would definitely recommend a stop here!

Always drive past and the cafe looks lovely so popped in. We ordered a full English breakfast each with coffee, the man behind the counter did not come across welcoming or friendly. They seemed to be short staffed, but the member of staff said it’s always like it. Our breakfasts arrived and were put down on the table without the waiter saying a word and briskly walked off, we had to go and ask for salt and ketchup. The menu stated homemade baked beans, which sounded great but when they arrived they were slightly spicy. I think it would state that on the menu. Dry toast with no butter, we like ‘farmshop’ sausages but we both thought these tasted almost powdery. Scrambled egg was tasteless. None of the staff came to check how our food was, we ate half of our food and left. We eat breakfast out a lot and were very disappointed.

Unexpectedly good ... The Angel looks nice enough on their website. Most places do. But the location, decor, welcome and food in reality were all way above expectation. The courtyard garden doesn't seem to have many photos online - it's the star of the show tucked away from the spacious dining area. It's dog friendly, which was a bonus. Service is fast, but eggs royale, eggs benedict and pulled pork bap better than you'd expect in a very decent London hotel. Spotlessly clean but with Cotswold chic vibes. I'm tired of so many places in the area now charging £22 for a £15 brunch plate. Loads of options here for under a tenner, a bit more if you dive into the delicious Basque cheesecake like I did. It completes every breakfast, really. Top Marks to the Angel, which isn't really a cafe, but I'm not sure what word describes it better.

Sunday lunch was what I booked, not a tasting menu!! Gravadlax starter. Maybe 20 grams of dry salmon. No bulk, no taste. Roast beef for mains. Maybe 60 grams of beef. Too little to taste, literally one mouthful of meat. First and last visit, a shameful presentation of a traditional Sunday lunch. I would be embarrassed to take guests to this. Many restaurants/pubs offer better. For top class Sunday lunch try the Millstream at Marden or the Mayfly at Fullerton. Top quality beef, vegetables and consistent quality. So disappointed with Greys

What a wedding! Couldn’t fault our experience - with our hosts bringing so much to the party. From dust until dawn this was a great experience!

Been here before some while ago so thought I would treat my partner to Sunday lunch big mistake felt invisible to the staff who became even more unprofessional when we asked to move we were sitting in the window which was freezing restaurant wasn’t busy but lady hugged and puffed as though it was all too much trouble. We had to ask to order drinks then over looked when it came to food. Such a disappointment ending a good weekend on a bad note.

The Sunday roast was excellent today and I’d have no hesitation recommending. Beef, pork, vegetables and Yorkshire pudding all cooked perfectly.

My family and I (two adults and a child) recently visited Whatley Manor for afternoon tea 09/10/23. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations, prompting this review. Despite booking a regular afternoon tea, we were charged £43.50 instead of the confirmed £37.50, citing a festive surcharge. Disappointingly, there were absolutely no noticeable festive elements to justify this added cost. Upon arrival, we were seated at a stark white, unadorned table, devoid of any seasonal decorations or even water glasses. The music being played just after we arrived wasn’t festive either. Our initial drinks and food were served promptly but for £140 (the entire amount of food in the attached photo), the value was awful. It consisted of three stale items, the Battenberg slice if you’re interested, accompanied by minimal service (no follow up on food and additional drinks and we had to go and find staff to ask to pay the bill) and a complete absence of the promised festive ambiance which after all was what the surcharge was for. Overall, this was an expensive and unsatisfactory afternoon tea experience. We have since had the festive surcharge refunded which we appreciate but I wouldn’t go back again or recommend the afternoon tea as an experience I’m afraid.
