A hidden gem within the wonderful garden centre. Bob welcomed me in ( having never met me before) When I asked if I could sit on a table for four he looked up and said "of course you may " Even though at that point there was only me. The menu was appealing and all food delicious and fresh , even pizzas were made there in front of you. Before my friends arrived I asked for a glass of wine , non of this what size would you like just a perfectly chilled glass of sauvignon blanc.............scrumptious. The three of us had a varied menu ........pizzas, pancakes ( handmade by Bob ) with maple syrup and bacon.Totally delicious cannot recommend it more highly. When you come out of Decades Tearoom you can collect a box of fresh vegetables from the shop adjacent. Loved it

Menu was quite limited for non meat eaters. Chose French Onion Soup, followed by fish of the day; Stonebass. Both were ok, but to pay over £30 for a small portion of fish is crazy. My wife had Cheese Soufflé, followed by Belly Pork, both ok but not exceptional. Her pudding; Lemon Meringue was not pleasant, and she left most of it. We had breakfast on two days, and whilst the eggs were ok, smoked haddock was very “ripe” and lacked the hollandais sauce as on the menu. The bread used for toast was on the cheap side, and tasted awful. All a bit pretentious.

Very disappointing dinner with friends. The french onion soup was watery with no depth of flavour. Looked as if the onions hadn't been caramelised. It came with cheese on toast served on the side which was rather bizarre but, had they served it correctly with the bread within the soup, the soup would have been soaked up entirely as there was so little of it. And it was lukewarm probably because it was served in a shallow soup bowl which meant such a small amount lost all heat on the journey from kitchen to table. The mains appeared and then disappeared while we were still eating our starters. When they returned, they were stone cold so had to be sent back. When the mains were served again, I would guess the lamb had been cooked from scratch but the pasta and venison pudding seemed to have been reheated. Both were dry. I then ordered affogato for dessert on the basis that no-one could make a mess of that. The icecream came out slightly melted and the jug of coffee was stone cold. Well, to be fair, the jug was warm, the coffee was cold! Not sure how they managed that. I will say that Johann who served us was very apologetic and handled the situation well. We didn't complain. We were staying at the hotel for 24 hours and didn't want to spend that precious time talking to hotel staff instead of each other and since Johann told us he didn't have the power to refund, we decided to just pay and leave.

I had dinner alone in a really friendly restaurant. I had a couple of starters to keep room for the delicious pudding! Heritage tomatoes with goats cheese were fab and the dusted squid was really perfectly done. The staff were helpful and attentive without being overbearing. Summer pudding to finish was one of the best I have had. Delicious!

Went here for dinner and was such a disappointment. The service was awful - incredibly slow for food to arrive, plates not cleared for ages after we had finished starters, and just a general vibe of seeming not interested to serve tables - while the food was poor, the padron peppers were unseasoned and oily, the butter with the bread was so melted I wondered if it had been microwaved? One of the only two veggie main options had already run out by 8pm while the fish and chips was awful - could barely taste the fish amid the batter. No one asked if we wanted any more drinks after the first order. I could go on. Just all round poor.

Delicious! Just finished my first curry (takeaway) from here, and it blew me away. I wasn't expecting it to be so good! I ordered Lamb Pathia and a garlic nan. The lamb was so soft and succulent, and the sauce was perfect: medium spiced, sweet, and tangy sour. Soft nan bread as well. The price was very reasonable too. I'll definitely be going back.

Just had a couple of nights at Dormy house hotel (at which the back garden is one of the 2 restaurants) We ate at the back garden on the first night Let me preface this by saying the hotel and the chefs table restaurant (Mo, which we dined at on the second night) are top notch - I’ve reviewed them separately also If I’m being honest though, the Back Garden was a bit of a let down Setting - lovely Service - great Wine and cocktails - fab I think we just made a few bad choices in terms of dishes (which are always subjective at the end of the day) Emma had the gazpacho - we love a gazpacho, this one just felt a bit thin and lacking seasoning. It was almost trying to be a bit too delicate I’d say the same about my starter, I had the hot smoked salmon salad - it just didn’t taste of much, needed more dressing. Just something to bring it to life? Emma’s main - the curried Kiev was top notch I had the roast cod in a mussel veloute sauce. Nice, but only 3 mussels? Emma didn’t have a dessert, I was intrigued by the sheep’s cheese, honey comb and Eccles cake dessert (the most expensive at £14) It just didn’t work for me - two small blobs of cheese, a small square of honeycomb and a small (beautifully baked) Eccles cake - it just didn’t hang together, I’m not sure what it was meant to deliver? We had a pleasant evening (thanks everyone) but compared to the rest of the stay we felt it missed the mark

This place felt so special, from the welcome to the goodbye. The room had everything and more, was very spacious with lots of character. The spa was also so relaxing, they only let so many people in at once. The restaurant food was also very special, abit pricey but we wanted to treat ourselves. The village is absolutely beautiful, felt like we were in a chocolate box movie. Will definitely be back.

I was having my motorhome serviced in the village and had a whole day to kill. The leaflet was in the waiting area so I gave it a try. Lovely full English breakfast, cooked perfectly, very nice quality coffee and a wonderful relaxed atmosphere. Ordered a second coffee and hung a round for a bit with no feeling like you weren't welcome. It was so nice and the service was first class and came with a smile that a added a toasted teacake and a third coffee to the bill and returned for them early afternoon! Very reasonably priced indeed and an all-round lovely experience!

BEWARE! Not often that I feel the need to leave such a negative review. 4 years ago this was an Award Winning Restaurant and I have eaten there many times. Visited last week and had one of the worst and most expensive meals I have ever suffered. Smoked Haddock Cheese Soufle to start (ÂŁ12), small dry and tasteless. Halibut main (ÂŁ24), the smallest sliver of tasteless fish served with one potato, a few greens and some tasteless cold "butter sauce". Absolute disgrace, my friends "Whole" Plaice just as bad. Tiny portions of overpriced, tasteless food. Didn't bother with desserts, we went home and prepared some food as we were so hungry. You have been warned!
